It literally has +1 level to cold gems at the top it's absurd
If you open the passive tree, on the right there is a search field, just type in cold, elemental or spell damage. It will highlight it on the tree where it is

One big thing I dislike about minions system is that incentivise you to use only one type of minions. You have limited spirit pool and it is too little to spread between several types.

We don't really know how high the spirit can get though, as I mentioned above there's a decent amt of sources rn and the affixes I've seen were low tiers for like +40ish spirit on chest armor
in the preview I believe they have like 500+
How viable is armor/evasion on witch? As there are barely any nodes in the top of the tree, only a lot of energy shield nodes

Not very i dont think, the nodes are a bit too far down, i mean you can still get them but then half of you tree will be spent down there
remvoed quite a few sockets as i have noticed sockets can and will break some spirit spells / spells in gneral - cannot go in demon form if Vitality gem is equipped at alll
weapon set not problem wand + sceptre. Should work completely fine

There’s 2 type of monks ive seen, one of them use bell and some element and one shot/combo bosses, the other struggle to finish act 1 and ask when do they stop using basic attack

Is critical hit chance useless? I ask this because according to the critical hit chance description it says that its not a 10% flat increase but rather a 10% increase to the base modifier, so if my skill has a base crit chance of 10% and I spec into 100% extra crit chance worth of passive points thats only going to raise it from a 10 to a 20% for all those skill points, all the while you couldve been speccing into getting yourself some guaranteed damage or more survivability, if there is anything im poinint out thats wrong please do tell me.

The point of the armor is getting as much “damage taken as mana” but not running MoM, while also having enough hp to not get 1 shot, stack mana and mana regen so you can regen back all the dmg taken
No, it's just that Crit tends to be better with more investment,but early you lack the resources to invest

is it worth while to keep High velocity rounds for when my gas grenades break armor? or is it not worth supporting gas grenades with the gem that breaks armor?
herald of ice (on) high freeze buildup, enough to instant freeze normal to rare mobs and use it 3-4 times to freeze most bosses, then use glacial cascade for higher damage due to it consuming the freeze, ice strike works for big dps too (herald of ice is for big add clear)

FML, just discovered that the Dark Pact|Dark Staff that was supposed to be found in map isn't in the game. Taht screws up my whole game plan and tree. 😐
I really don't know what to play from there as I picked up Blood Mage as a spec intending to cast said Dark Pact.
I tried to play bone storm, but didn't like it as a main skill. I've got no idea how to rotate from there. Most of my point have been going into minion, esp life. a bit of crit and chaos damage.
I don't think playing summoner works well with Blood Mage, but I need some suggestion/help

for sorc, it only benefit from cast speed right instead of atk speed? such as freezing shard,,
im running fireball + frost wall + cast on freeze comet but honestly i feel like blood mage at 4 pts or less is a straight downgrade on some bosses (the ones that are dangerous to be close to)
Spirit is a stat, you get some on your gear, 100 point are also found in campain
and does crit works on sorc? spell etc
the life costs for the skills gets pretty crazy and 10% leech does basically nothing on single target

the ability for blood globes to overheal basically never happens in boss fights because the fastest i can generate globes is 1 (healing ~230) per 2s, which is about 115hp/s
If the skill is marked as attack, it will always stay attack.

i've given up on 10% leech and gone into the 25% incoming damage taken as dot, which allows me to survive bigger hits if i don't overdo the casting, but it still feels very clunky

Very good for lightning because their damage is usually like 1 to 500 or whatever
My assumption is that lucky hits will be better for general clear and without as much investment but crits will be better for bossing or high hp targets and probably higher ceiling with a lot of investment
So first toon, yes most likely better than crit

Over the fight of a boss the dmg values will even out higher with the higher values from crits but on general clear you'll be doing more consistent dmg against lower hp targets with lucky

This is the plan so far. Grab all lightning, ailment, and elemental areas. Also grabbed some easy attack boosts along the way and a few evasion/def sections. New to poe tho so not sure how well its gonma scale lol

There's def a reason they are on opposite ends of the tree
I didnt use a lot of grenades tho the frost shotty skill and fragmentation rounds for packs and high velocty rounds with the triple shot support for single target

Yeah my assumption is that people struggling on merc don't know what a better crossbow is or what mods to look for since PoE local weapon affix values aren't very intuitive to noobs unless you read them closely
I've always said they need to add better wording on local wep damage mods idk why they didn't in PoE2

It was also much harder to go down the defensive side of the merc tree first had to respec to the projectile damage
That's common in the past as well, it's generally the better way to level so you can kill things early better
And then end game you might just eschew the early nodes entirely to save on points overall

Yeah I got noob trapped as well. Took Dex nodes to skip to some grenade nodes faster and it hurt my dmg
I just couldnt get into grenades at the start the first one having such a long fuse time killed it for me
You might consider doing that later when you need the points to get to an important keystone, but early game you generally never do that, correcto

Any skill speed stacks additively with whatever cast speed or attack speed you have, so if you say have 20% inc cast speed and 15% inc skill speed then you have effectively 35% inc cast speed for spells
needs to be a Higher risk coin with 2-4 floors

AS is more commonly found, so generally you'll get that, there's not many forms of skill speed in the game afaik but they help additively too

Attack speed and skill speed are additive in relation to one another, then that % affects your base attack time
why does bonestorm with scattershot , have a 1 second faster cast time

You're probably missing something somewhere in the equation since scattershot should give you less cast speed

At larger levels of % inc, "more" becomes more valuable, so generally yes it is more valued because if you have for example 200% increased Spell Damage, 20% more would give you the same end result as effectively 40% increased
200*.2=40, 200+40=240
okey, it is not possible to make it so the ability from "cast on" to cast from your second set while you charge energy on your first, right?
I'm getting the feeling there isn't as much build diversity as quite advertised in this game. For Ranger its poison TG/Firewall or Lightning. Maybe end game changed things
It multiplies the modifier listed, so in my example it multiplies % Spell Damage after the increased is all added together
If that makes sense
so both multiply the BASE of your gear, and then it gets added together

Does the spell being cast from this ignore cooldown of the spell?
Here's a basic example,
- you have two sources of 100% increased Spell Damage
- those both get added together for 200%
- you also have 20% more Spell Damage
- that multiplies the 200% increased Spell Damage to give you 240%
- You have a spell that deals 10 damage base
- Now it deals 34
(10*2.4=24, 10+24=34)
Obviously in game it's a lot more complicated with the amount of different sources of things, but that's how inc % and more % interact with one another

ACtually technically I have tried that with barrier invocation, I added the %aoe but adds +6sec cd support to frost nova inside the barrier invocation and it was not able to be casted twice in succession with 2 charges

All more/less multipliers are multiplicative with all other more/less modifiers AND the sum of all increased/reduced modifiers. I think you can hold alt to read more about it.
Basically, all your increased/reduced mods are additive with each other and become one big "more" multiplier.

The best place is most likely YouTube and following along as content creators update their builds with successive videos, as you can see their thought process in making different decisions or changing previous ones

Makes the support attack always Maim, which reduces movement speed and evasion rating. You can hold alt on the gems and then move your cursor over "Maim" effect to get an additional tooltip on Maim.
This works for anything underlined in the game's tooltips.

Have you tried it? It's like multiple shockwaves that eminate from it. You want to throw the bell right on top of your single target.

Raging Spirits is a "Spirit Gem." Think an "aura" from Poe1. You need an uncut spirit gem in order to acquire it, as it uses a different pool of gems than uncut skill gems. You are guarenteed 1 uncut spirit gem from a side quest in Act 1, located in the Freythorn.

I don't believe you can over-crit in this, so the extra 51% chance is probably wasted.
But there are probably enemies that are "Crit resistant" and would lower your crit chance, meaning that the extra crit chacne over 100% isn't completely wasted, it'll be useful in those situations.
Personally, I wouldn't bother, but it's not the worst idea in the world.

Because Summon Raging Spirits is not a skill. You need an "Uncut SPIRIT gem."

Crit chance increases the base crit value by a percentage, so if the attack skill itself has a 5% base to crit and you have 150% increased crit chance then you have a 12.5% chance to crit
(5*1.5=7.5, 7.5+5=12.5% chance to crit)

Okay, so, hear me out. Sesmic Cry resets its cooldown if it doesn't hit an enemy under heavy stun.
So if I support it with Pin support, it won't be able to stun anything, ever. I can then support it with something like Corrupting Cry, stack a fuckton of Strength, and just run around shouting at people until the bleed to death out of their ears. Probably Titan with the 50% increased small node for additional strength (with some Warcry Damage nodes for good measure)

Attacks will use your weapon's crit value, so you'd need to have that value to know what your crit % would be for attack skills
Unfortunately the titan subclass node that increases the passives by 50% does not work on the attributes

I never really use the shield actively, but damage wise I absolutely overkill everything.. defensively, even with stacking armor, is a bit lacking.
My original plan was to go for giants blood 2x 2h mace, but I have no idea how I'm supposed to satisfy those attribute requirements, I'm barely keeping up as is.

Sure, but it just doesnt seem like an efficient payoff since you also basically need flat strength from gear. And so far there isnt an essence that guarantees that
here's a larger version with some more clusters and nodes that are close and I think are strong
You gain 30 spirit from a quest in Act 1 that gives you your first spirit gem. Presuambly other quests later on give additional spirit.
Spirit is also a mod that can roll on chest pieces (starting around level 35ish), and all Scepters also come with 100 spirit (to support minions, which also use spirit)
You also need other attributes as well on the off-chance you need them for supports like martial tempo

Hey all, a bit new and trying to make my melee sorc a bit better. I have the damage but my survivability is pretty terrible. I just got out of act 1 and the boss wasn't too bad since I can dodge attacks a bit easier, but random enemies just do so much damage and I die almost every single pack. What should I be focusing on for survivability? My initial thought was to focus on a build that centered around evasion and energy shield, but I wasn't sure.
yeah that's fair, sunder has 100% crit chance against fully armour broken enemies so that's why I mentioned it, you'll see that I've taken two nodes in an armour-break cluster to the right close to mercenary, but those 2 nodes just give a ton of increased physical damage and the armour break part can be ignored

Ideally you also want phys inc and phys flat. But its just the better choice out of the two you had shown.

Not to be too rude but if you're just starting out I'd recommend against a niche build like that. The classes have a much smoother playstyle that they are mostly tailored towards while you're still learning the mechanics. That being said, all this depends on what points you're investing in and where they are on the tree, and also what gear you will be wearing which will be affected by which attributes you're going to be using for skills.

This build was rather smooth through the campaign. Freeze enemies before they have a chance to even hit you, including bosses! The Invoker Monk gets the job done!

Sorc. Ideally aiming for a build that focuses on the lightning skills, shocks, and power charge generation. I do decent damage at the moment (still just in the beginning of act 2), but I take SO much damage. hah
no it's 10% more damage, are you familiar with "increases" and "mores" in this game, EVERY SINGLE "increase" to damage stacks additively, regardless of if it's conditional or to your weapon or attacks or physical damage or whatever, they all get added up, which means they get less and less valuable, especially once you get to multiple hundreds of %, and, EVERY SINGLE "more" increase stacks multiplicatively with your increases and all other "mores", this node is an actual 10% boost on average, which is really good

I haven't gotten too far into learning the differences of defenses with PoE2 tree vs PoE1 but traditionally it is better to have a stacking amount of different layers of defenses since they all have some sort of diminishing return or negative aspect that would have to be covered by another type of defensive layer. So focusing on two for now is a good idea, like you said initially.
All that being said, life and resistances are the most important and always should be prioritized aside from life with CI builds.
it only gets good when you have a lot of flat leech from other sources, if you have over 5% damage leeched as life then those nodes are pretty good but not really if you have less

you can farm gold to respec anyway unlike poe 1 where you just screwed until you get to endgame

here's a new tree I made for you if you want to copy it with same number of points as you have, it should have both better damage and survivability than your original tree, less damage than the first tree I posted but much better defense than it, as you can see it's a single point away from the keystone, so you get that next level, having a single point in rage is kinda nice imo just because that alone can fully stack rage, but it can be skipped

It say that it convert curse socketed inside into an aura around you. Ok so, can we support the curse inside the meta skill gems ? It doesn' seems very understandable to be honest unlike Poe1... I tried several support gems like 'Expanse', 'Magnified Effect' or 'Heightened curse' and it change nothing beside the reservation while you got 'Heightened curse'... Why and how ?

Correct, charges don't have inherent bonuses anymore. Those bonuses were reworked into a persistent buff called Charge Infusion
They are also used as a resource for some skills
if you want a really easy way to guaranteed generate them on command you can use Magma barrier, it's a spirit gem, it's pretty slow though but you can read it urself

Imo, hammer of the gods has potential. My original bow idea came crumbling after I respecced into time snap (tldr getting frenzies for barrage is hard).
But time snap refreshes all uses, so pondering second wind hammer of the gods or some kinds of grenadomancer

Assuming from the tooltip, if you're using Aftershock Support or Earthbreaker, you get 20% static chance to aftershock, these passive nodes for mace nodes are not "increasing" that value, only adding a flat static amt from 0, so if you take out Earthbreaker you should theoretically have an 18% chance to aftershock with mace attacks.
That's my assumption, at least

Radius is just the measurement of your area - area of effect increases will increase the radius

We don't have dps benchmarks and might never have them. Try to upgrade your gear, put runes in stuff, and make sure you're using supports that benefit your goal of the build

Flicker strike (and all attacks) use the base damage of your weapon. If your weapon does lightning or you convert to lightning, that increased lightning damage will apply
hm, would you bother making a quick concept of the skill tree for melee chronomancer? not sure if you could do a rough idea in 1 or 2 minutes or if it's too much work lol

does having 1% quality instantly give me 100% extra poisoning damage , this description is pretty confusing
Merc has generic elemental damage very close by. Mercenary is close to pretty much everything but minion nodes (and even still has a cluster nearby). All classes can use all gems and gear. I'm playing a bow chronomancer and just picking up projectile and attack nodes. The nodes on the tree are very generic in most cases and can support loads of different skills
Does charge infusion count as consuming a charge for the passive nodes that give me bonuses if a charge was consumed recently, cause perpetual charge doesn't support it so I'm worried it doesn't count
Runes are plentiful, sockets/artificer orbs are not. I recommend picking up all gear with sockets so you can salvage them for artificer shards

@serene thicket The radius is basically inherited from the curse, so without any investment it is very very low so you're kinda forced to invest into inc AoE% for blasphemy to be useful outside of melee

you didn't ask me and I don't have a tree, but 99% likely you just want to path to monk's part of the tree right away and do a "normal" melee monk quarterstaff build from there, but with chronomancer instead
Read the yellow text on that gem, I believe it'll say something about what types of skills it can support

It replaces the text already on the gem, essentially. 20% quality would be 110% of poison damage. 1% quality would do nothing (since it goes up by 1% damage every 2% quality)

Nah, I'd probably go hammer of the gods if anything. One hander and shield with some kind of way to build power for HotG and weapon swap to a meaty two hander for the nuke

making mace melee chronomancer work is unironically going to probably take a minimum lv 80 character, it could be good, but you're better off playing a normal sorc build untill endgame and then expirement, and I'm assuming you don't have a lv 80 sorc but maybe you do in which case good luck

The 9 given skill slots is intentional for that reason - there is a ring base type called Unset Ring which gives you an additional skill slot to balance the investment cost of wanting to run many skills

you can barely fit enough skills for the measly 6 skills on the action bar
leaving you with 2 auras

Poe is a game about figuring out which 5 buttons to use and how to support them out of hundreds of options. The gameplay is almost certainly easier than high end raiding in wow
PoE2 has a far greater engagement in combat with multiple skills vs PoE1, to be fair

Ah, yeah I'm not quite sure how easy it is in this game to respec an entire character yet since I haven't gotten that far but traditionally (PoE1) if you're doing something wildly different with a different build it's better to create a new character entirely. That just depends on how much you're changing from the intial build

i think gemling legionnaire is the only playable class in this game, because you get extra skills
well casters don't have to worry about accuracy or weapon damage, but they're very reliant on skill level and sustain

if you're actively rotating between more than 9 active skills your build either deals insane damage or your rotation sucks

i dont think we have enough info on how easy goldfarming is in the endgame to say for sure

Yeah. The ability to put lightning res down + enemy dmg down on a boss once at the start (they drain mana and HP by a lot to reapply)

"Regenerate X% of life per second" gives you regen

Don't all melee attacks inherently do an area of effect by the nature of the attack's animation? Or is this additional splash dmg on top of that is what you're asking

From what I saw, sounds like additional splash damage, like a 360 thing instead of weapon path
which makes stormweaver kind of insane because i can easily get exposure to be -66% res

Penetrate stops at 0% in PoE2, so it depends on the monster's resistances if it's valuable or not. Exposure and curse reductions always work, though.
that does mean that pen and shred are kinda exclusive ways to boost damage
because if you shred below 0 then you get 0 pen
What is a "during a flask effect"? I took a node that increases damage "during a flask effect". I assumed this was while drinkning a flask, but I have the "show flask effect icons" checked in options, and don't get any buff/effect while drinking flask. Am i misinterpreting this?

Flat damage cannot get added to poison damage (or any dot for that matter). But flat physical damage on a hit will help you inflict poison of a greater magnitude

I don't know how gas arrow works off the top of my head. Read it and see how it inflicts poison. If it says something like, "Poisons as tho dealing X damage" then your base damage doesn't help

I use unleash on ball lightning to throw out three orbs then spam warp on them then I'm able to execute warp spam any stragglers. About 1k DPS per warp at the moment so a quick 3-6k aoe
