you could go stiffer rear and softer front to try and find a balance between having grip while accelerating in turns and still keeping weight on the rear for straightline acceleration

tactile switches do exist for HE, but they kind of mess with the main HE features like adjustable actuation and rapid trigger

with the tactile bump it's harder to keep constantly moving the switch up and down at any point in your press

so its up to you if you want to use them

Im used to tactile on a traditional mechanical and I cant stand linear feel. I do play R6 and a few other games semi competitive, would you say that using a tactical he is going to kill my performance vs benefits of using a nicer he switch

If you set 0.5mm actuation Gateron tactile is fine, since the tactile bump is at the top of the press, around 0.5mm

it's still probably going to be ultimately better than MX tactiles

but it might feel weird when you for example: set actuation to 0.1mm and your press actuates instantly, but physically you feel the bump at like 2mm or whatever it is set in the tactile HE switch

also big thing is rapid trigger, which allows you to reset and actuate a switch instantly without having to return it fully, but on tactile you will have to force it past the tactile bump every time

if you're getting prebuilt 60hev2 you can try the stock switches and see if you like the linear feel with the HE benefits

Just got the GravaStar UFOs for my 60HE v2 aluminum. Wobble is undoubtedly better than the lekker tickens (as indicated in the cheat sheet) and I do indeed feel the “smooth friction” when pressing down the keys, making them feel much heavier (also as indicated in the cheat sheet). My only real complaint is that the bottoming out and return clack is much harsher than I initially realized when inside the keyboard. It sounds great just testing the switches outside of the kb, but is much much harsher when installed (especially with EPDM foam). I initially thought I could fix this with some extra lube, but learnt that they cannot be easily opened. Has anybody had a similar experience, and if so, do they know any potential way to mitigate this issue?

Nothing you can do with the top out sound tbh. It'll get even harsher when the factory lube dries out and you can't manually lube them properly

I personally love what the UFOs offer concerning typefeel and realize that most people object that they do feel "firmer" than what the actual actuation force implies. I know this can be a bit subjective, but Diamonds or Novas for the closest typefeel compared to the UFOs? Asking about actuation force and rebound specifically. I haven't had the chance to try many HE switches yet so I can't really theorize how much a 5-10gf actuation difference would feel, but worried that Diamonds/Novas might be too light feeling. Happy to hear your input.

i think one of the biggest issues with this is housing costs, it is significantly more affordable to get a home in china vs the states (or at least the bigger city states like not texas/florida)

to perform well you have to configure your board towards the things he tests, otherwise just doing well in 1-2 areas won't matter if he scores you low on another area

realistically if you want to score high on his test the key is remove filtering, add the most stable switch you can find, allow as low a actuation/rt as possible

it's okay though, i don't think we've ever worried too much about performing on the chinese tests, because most of the time it would mean removing minimums on rt/actuation that are there on purpose to make the boards usable by humans

i've talked to a few reps from various companies before and they all have the same answers "yeah we bought x board and it didn't perform at what the chinese tests said when we did our tests"

Yeah i saw the post about teaching everyone to set it up properly was difficult and created more problems than it solved

an interesting we did find when looking into a lot of review testing though is we are inherently disadvantaged just purely from deadzone setting a lot of the time

since a lot of boards you can set it to 0 deadzone, whereas wooting you can't, so it's totally up to whatever random setup the tester has and whatever the default wooting deadzone is for that config will be applied on top of their settings

so it seems a lot of the times we end up being tested as say 0.2 vs another boards 0.1, but the results get presented as "Both these boards are set to 0.1"

okay so took apart a board today, tx chunky cnc puller my new favourite puller

it's 100% not the fastest puller, sometimes it takes a second to position it right

but it's the most comfortable when it comes to pulling the switch, outside of those auto pullers that sometimes scratch your plates

One fix for that would be an "expert mode" that lets you set the deadzone yourself but then a bunch of idiots will turn on "expert mode" to set deadzone to 0 and then complain that they get a lot of misinputs

Kind of a lose/lose situation tbh

I also have the feeling that the switch selector update improvements caused more people to complain about misinputs, then it turns out 80% of them use that secretlab desk
