Metal case wont make your build more muted, id stick to plastic + stick with stock PC plate and get tikkens with torontokeyboardman foam kit which gives you poron 80HE gasket pad you can try and use their poron case foam (emphasises low end frequency and mutes higher end)

really depends on your preference, but long springs will have snappier rebound than short spring switches, but you'll have more spring options with short if you want to swap them

You wont find your perfect choice on your first go, but I'd recommend getting TTC POM/Deep Clack Flux/Raptor V2s if you want truly max stability (in the $0.50-$1 range), Tikkens if you want a fast and dirty switch with decent stability and owlab ti he if you want better stability than tikkens with lighter press

Like I know the basics of a switch is a activation devices with a spring a peg and the housing in neanderthal terms XD... Anyone bought the white 80he from the respawn store and received it? Im torn between ordering the 80he and the 60he v2 and was just curious what kind of damage you received from the one in the misfits section?

There have been a few posters who have bought it so far. Many of them are actually undamaged.
We just note that they can have the damage shown sometimes due to the coating on v1 sometimes chipping

it’s fairly minor rate of happening, but we can’t guarantee which units have or don’t have that minor chipping so we set expectations that if you order then you should be prepared if it does have a minor chip

Is there any spec difference and difference of case layers between the 60he v2 and the 80he? I saw optimums vid on the 60he v2 being friction fit and having the silicone block, poron foam, and the plate film? Does the 80he also have all those features as well as the same specs at the 60he v2?

60he v2 has a tougher coating vs the 80he black and raw zinc, although 80he white v2 coating is actually really tough too

we increased our minimum acceptable standard for coating durability with the v2 basically

80he does not come with the middle layer adjustments that the 60he v2 has, but it does have the foam bottom

yeah re-lube those if you're particular about stab sound. That's probably the standard mod that basically every enthusiast does for their keyboard

Sound tests are all about consistency of keeping the setup exactly the same, otherwise they’re worthless

then you can estimate what that sound change will be like for your own keyboard since you can see "oh switch 1 is deeper here than switch 2, which I own" so you can roughly guess that switch 1 will be deeper for you in your setup too. it's not a perfect science but it's basically closest you can get to useful information
