this is a result of tight tolerances
not just “lube makes it stick”
?
its stem walls to housings
no, that's not what i'm talking about and not where it sticks
it's not walls of the plunger getting stuck on the housing walls, just the two flat horizontal surfaces
you could take two flat pieces of plastic and make them stick together with lube, the same thing is happening here
You got some wonky ass lube
whatever someone put in those geon raws lmao
Are you sure it’s gone when the lube is removed @ebon quiver? I can’t replicate it with mine.
I thought it was because of the tiny little rails on the top housing sliding over the stem
ye, gone when i removed lube with some alcohol
Weird
I just fixed my flatmates sticky spacebar, too much lube
It feels very friction-y for me
but i had to go over it a bunch of times to remove all the lube
just doing a splash of isopropyl alcohol wasn't enough
Just tried a couple switches and you’re right. It’s far less than stock. Good find!

It changes sound slightly of course and not really for the better imo
poggers
and ye sound a bit worse from it
It’s worth it though.
imo worth it too
Yeah, it’s a really good find. A few people have noticed the “friction feel” with the Raw HEs at the restion position and this resolves it almost completely.
Yeah!
hey, i actually came here to ask about something similar
but its on the jades instead
👀 how did he get rid of it?
it feels scratchy probably because of the angle i press my keys at which is very annoying
Removed the lube
at the top?
#🔧│keyboard_modding message from here.
🙏
I used an alcohol wipe and a toothpick
I haven’t noticed it on the Jades, do they have it too?
idk if it's the exact same thing but i'm feeling a scratchiness
if i press in slowly its very noticeable
possibly
how many standoffs do you use with the tofu60? I am using all of them. Wondering if the keyboard will sound more consistent if I only use a few of the stand offs
can someone help me with the keyboard rq
@polar girder Off The Grid that a lot of the big streamers are streaming right now is the game I was talking about way back. It’s lit, you should check it out
lol that’s funny
Friend mentioned it a couple hours ago and I “ordered” the beta online
Gonna download it when I get home
Not happy about epic games launcher but whatever
@ebon quiver the top housing of the Jades (and KS-20s in general) have a tiny bump where the stem hits the top housing. Presumably to prevent what happens with the Raw HEs from happening. 😂
It’s hard to get a picture of
if you have Jades or V1 Lekkers you can see it.
Drop 50% off sale
Your advice worked 🙏🏻
Chat does anyone know if there is a possibility that I can buy white poron foam…
oh ye i see what you mean, 4 tiny things, not sure what's their purpose
might also be to reduce clack on upstroke
I'm dum after you take the stabs out how do you put them back in
Screw in or plate mount
Alr nice
Does anyone know
Lubing is actually kinda relaxing
luckily had the correct size drill bit, now it's like lekkers travel and bottom out sound, but raw
tempting to get a reamer and do all of them

stuffed sound deadener into my ghost PCR case. Tight fit (2mm thick plus one layer of tape) but made the noise a little lower frequency. Also threw some into the space bar
nice!
Also, I recommend lubing your Maxes if you want to maximize sound (ik you said you didn’t wanna), but they sound so much better handlubed 👀
Lol the 80HE switch puller teeth broke
Yeah that’s about the only downside rn
I see, I might just add some krytox then
Other than optimization, but that’s expected from an alpha
Bro and it’s third person
Nahhh
lol not sure what yall are talking abt but I agree already
rip
good keycap puller tho
It was too tight

how in the hell
i dont know
They should've sticked with gateron for the v2s
i wanted to give them a shot again and lube them
these are v2s?
ah I see
Why gateron are falling behind if anything
Factory lubing isn't anywhere near as good
At least it aint as bad as these ttc magneto lol
So dry
Which one do you guys think looks better? These pixel keycaps or these womier blank keycaps?
Think it’s getting first person down the line
Welp it’s 12 am in my place so
DAY 2 anyone knows that where can u buy White poron foam
I searched through every website I can if you found one send me a link
Hi folks, wooting 60he is too loud and it affects my sister to sleep when I using it at night, any silent mod recommend? Keycap, case etc.?
so nice to get home after a vacation and listen to your keyboard
Has anyone needed to replace the poron pad foam under the leaf springs for the salvation case? If so, were you able to find a replacement online anywhere? 🙂
DRILL?!? Why didn’t you just use a Lekker V2 bottom
housing?!?!?! 😂😂😭
lmao
Lmfaooo this is too funny
Yes. Buy your sister headphones
is there a list of compatible HE switches for the 60HE? I heard some switches can overload it or something
Difference in sound?
If I switch it
Can I see the womier keycaps?
Not all switches work because of their magnets’ strengths. You can check #🪛│modding_faq message although most of the latest switches aren’t on there yet.
Yes. Open bottom vs semi open.
It’ll sound like a Lekker V2 though, just with a bit less wobble.
It's actually crazy how perfect that is lol
I would go 3.5 thicker foam usually has a thockier creamier sound IN MY OPINION DONT ATTACK ME
u cant just keep saying in my opinion as a cop out
😭
is this sacrilege to the raw cult?
who’s gonna stop him
realistically no one, but if every piece of advice has the asterisk *= only my opinion
whats the point
😭
there gotta be some objectivity
at some point
well it’s true, keyboard modding is entirely based on preference.
would be interesting a sound comparation of a raw he open bottom vs lekkers on spacebar
the effects of poron thickness on dampening
is not an opinion thing
😭
Lol I'm just saying I like more foam
Yeah no one likes rattle and I think that's it?
? are u telling me the difference between plate materials are preference
Yeah
or measurable tolerances are preference
Yeah
or levels of resonance is preference
Some people like polycarbonate some ppl like fr4 all preference
?????
Idek what that is
what does that have to do with what i asked
i asked
is there an objective measure between the difference from one plate material to the next for example
Oh that's what you meant
Yeah there are measurable factuals yes
Polycarbonate is objectively more thocky than say steal
Lol I put a question mark for a reason
Your super agro bruh
Chill be suave like him
Super cute doggo
Won't scratch the hell out of you without a hint of remorse like a cat
Anyone have tips for reducing the pingyness in metal cases? Ive tape moded and added foam. Anything else? Still very metallicy
What case
That was kinda what I was going for lol

Mojo60 case
What kind of foam do you use
The default one from the original case
Oh and usually your board can be pingy due to the mounting points of a tray mount. The PCB making direct contact with the case can be one source of ping on some parts of the board
So probably need o rings huh?
Video for reference. The sides sounds good and how to HE Raw switches should but the middle is the pingy part
are durocks better than the defaut wooting stabs
You use the middle screw?
or nah
Wooting Stabs are relatively the same as Durocks (esp their plate mounts)
Yeah I did
Try unscrewing that one and see how it sounds
Ok Ill try that thx
Don't thank me yet, not once the problem is somewhat fixed
Would generally loosening the screws a bit help?
Eh honestly I would just unscrew the whole damn thing
Normally we don't use the middle screw
And some don't even use the one next to the spacebar
Screw it Ill try that too
yea
what did you do to your spacebar
what the dif in sound between mech and he switches
mech?
doesn't it feel lose when you don't use all the screws
Nope
Tray Mount is meant to be stiff
Same thing with top mount and bottom mount
Screwed directly to the case
what about burger
Burger is somewhat softer in a way
Yessir
Depending on the screw depth it can vary the sound of the board
so with burger do i stil not screw mid
And it's a type of way to seperate the direct contact of the pcb and case
i agreeee
I'm saying you don't need to use the middle
ah
it's not necessary
i see
Even the spacebar
the most important screw is the one next to the USB port
and the other side of it
What do you mean?
is tofu redux better thaan tofu 2.0 for 60he+?
sounds noice
Tofu 2.0 is incompatible
Oh I have spacebar foam in the keycap as well as 2 sound dampening stickers under it
Tofu Redux is the updated Tofu 60 v1
what cases would u reccomend
tofu
Basic case that everyone would choose is the tofu redux
but if you have the budget with going something more expensive i have other options
stock
you could get like a cheaper GH60 Aluminum Case from aliexpress
what's your expensive option haunt
I have one that was gifted from The Thockfather himself
okay
gonna graduate soon so i might give my gf the 2he since she likes the number pad and might get a 80
Depending on mounting styles and all that
Something a bit more expensive out rn i would go with the KBDfans 461E. It's a tray mount case and can also be a silicone tab mount case.
@red panther
ik some ppl like a loud thick but im more of a silent thick/creme
You can wait for the frog mini leggera
Frog mini leggera will be coming in two type of mounting styles, Gummy O'ring and Tray mount
And it should be a lot cheaper than the original Frog Mini by a lot iirc
Due to like case materials and what not im pretty sure
It's something to look out for
wut
wut in the buzzwords did i just read
ooh what's the release date
is this compatible with wooting?
No problem anytime
I dont have a clue rn
i meant thock autocorrect
I think Q1 of 2025
yeah seems like it
nice im getting that then
based off of standoff placements
"Use for DIY Gk61X 61XS GK64X 64XS" Are the type of PCBs that are compatible
ohh i see
Wooting is only compatible with GH60, DZ60, and Pok3r
alrr thanks
One more question. Is there anything way to reduce the spacebar rattle? The sound itself is good but there is some small rattling in there too
grease
or just straight up tune the switches
Grease in the little black stabilizers?
For the wire of the stabilizers
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vxHb6CJc9V8 Here's a good video on how to tune stabilizers
Here is how I mod my stabilizers. I get asked this a lot of my streams and honestly, I figured why not just record this so I can link this video instead of having to re-explain it every time. I hope you enjoy it. Please remember this video is only covering lubing and installing, some stabs like cherry clip-ins, you'll need to clip the bottom leg...
it looks excatly like this tho
Oh I see thank you
yeah this one is compatible
but it looks exactly like the prev one thbo
what if its the same
dunno
all i know is that the link you sent is compatible
hmmm
if i buy this and it doesent fit can i just drill the screw holoes
kinda risky i aint gonna lie
didn't a yt use a wooden case and it fell off
Hipyo Tech?
He bought a wrong Gummy O'ring size which was why it fell out
Ye, I tried lekkers bottom at first, but decided to sacrifice one to see how it's gonna be
yuh
He just straight up bought the wrong size
For friction mounting you can get the bakeneko60 Gummy O'ring or Graveshift M size O'ring
Basically sounds like lekker with less wobble, but it's too easy to mar the inside surface when drilling which leads to scratchiness
Maybe you could do it well with an appropriately sized reamer, but then again might as well just use v2s
wealth of knowledge
Do you use switch plate foam? Wondering whether removing the foam could make the geons sound more deep?
Right ok
i see little marks on the pcb most likely due to me being a dumb ass and screwing in things too tightly, is it possible to order platemount pcb or send back the current one for a discount or something . The pcb is somewhat damaged but completely usable. i feel like it would be a waste of money and material if i just discard my current one and buy a new 60he with case, switch, and keycaps that I don't need...
just because i kinda worry about the its durability long term. and i prefer the plate mount version over the screw in stab version
otherwise i probably just get the 60module later on
just install plate mount stabs then
wait yea i am a dumb ass
it would just be extra hole on the module that i dont use
🤡 mb
yup, and as for marks, not sure how prominent they are but I think I've had some micro scratches for a long time on my original 60he and it was fine
good to know, thank you sir
i used to work with gasket mount keeb mostly so never had marks on pcb before. i was working under the flash light earlier tonight and that was how i noticed the mark, scared me😭
yee probably just gonna buy one later this year, it would actually be nice since i got 2 different cases now, i can have use the tofu60 with this slightly damaged one then put the module on my current case. thanks a lot for the information :3
would there be any he switches that sound similar to akko wine reds
as far as i know switches themselves arent a good measurement of sound as it depends on the final build what a keyboard will sound like
true
i had a monsgeek m1 kit and stock wine reds and i loved the sound of it
rn i have a base 60he module in a tofu redux
im planning on getting new switches since i dont like these sticky rices
Is there any reason why someone would still want magnetic switches with an open botton? I dont see the benefits. It would be alot of work to relube the switches and clean the PCB after a while.
Anyone that has tried to tape mod the bottom of their aluminum case that can say whether that isolates the hollowness of the case? This in addition to the case foam. Thinking that I could tape all the sides and other parts where the aluminum is visible
full travel distance would be one of the reasons
sound probably being the other if you're looking for something more silent
for the NA peeps who want cute mouse/deskmats https://starmintart.com/collections/enamel-pins-and-accessories
How's the hunt for those tamagotchi keycaps
our father has ordered them for me
What a guy
I'll do this with a jade max for the science
to see if they can be even shittier
did you change your name
Yes he did

I hate the extremely limited amount of ISO-DE keycaps 😭 Every time I find something nice it is either ANSI or ISO but US
Not even providing additional Y and Z keys 😢
In case someone is looking for Geon Raws in EU/UK
https://prototypist.net/products/in-stock-geon-he-raw-switches-10-pack

Has any1 tested out Jade max's already?
Ich kann dir Teleport und PBTFans empfehlen
PBTFans hat aber den Nachteil das du immer ein ISO DE Kit dazu bestellen musst. 🙂
so aynway. Who has tried Jade Max's?
I get that RAW HEs are FOTM but I mean there is more switches out there
@dapper obsidian
@safe stag was there lube involved?
I'd say go for jade pros then if you want jade sound
raws are also closed bottom but a but different sound due to how it is structured
but jade maxes seem to be a bit unlucky, some people reported that they are not very smooth
hmmm
I sadly do not have a HE Board yet but today I put a lekker v1 from a colleague and a Jade Pro I got as a free sample on IFA Berlin in my Q1 Pro and well....Jade Pros are quite high pitched
jade max are a different sound because the material is different
Lekkers were damn deep compared to them
lekkers and any of the closed bottom switches feel entirely different, so you just have to see for yourself
its not just the sound
there's a 3 switch soundtest comparison between raw he, jade max and jade pro btw in the keyboard pins of mousereview discord (i see you're in that discord too)
I am there, too
i'm confused though - are you looking for switches for an upcoming purchase or something?
since q1 pro won't work with HE switches
its for me 80HE
I bring my Q1 Pro to work tho so I could test it on the spot.
But damn those sound tests hurt...
like in general...that Keyboard needs major work he used
sounds fine to me. I'm pretty sure he's on a heavily modded keyboard already lol
that's just how all HE switches sound - particularly the jade and raw he
idk maybe Discord on PC with Airpods its messed
no idea
but I mainly meant the crazy hollowness and pingyness
HE boards are very different
there is no big switch pin that goes through pcb like on MX
so the stem just hits the pcb with a thud, if that makes sense
From what I have seen I would be careful with Jade Pro if you use RGB at all.
yeah if you're expecting MX sound from a HE board you will not find it
just give up now
yeah well I know that
I know I will lose a bit of my custom privilige sound profile
but thats just horrible stab tuning he has on that board
So normal Jades, Jade Max or RAW would be my pick for a new board
it really hurts when he hits space
if you're familiar with customs then basically the best HE options are all just clacky switches of some variety
if rgb is not an issue it would be weird to go for normal jades, since their tolerances are simply worse
True
Is it it even clacky what I have? I actually do not know...maybe you can tell me if you want
then you'll like jade pro or raw he - those are the top 2 recommendations right now probably, with raw he being more recommended because they're half the price of jade pro
But I hate the green color in anything you set :/
Tbh I have no issues with my Jades whatsoever currently
@dapper obsidian my wooting with geon raw he
not sure if the green bottom housing should be an issue honestly
the RGB Window is clear
No
on pros upper housing is dyed
Oh Pros, yeah
The pro top housing is too green
btw Pros: is there a QR Code on Production ones, too?
My Samples do have a QR Code and well marketing pictures kinda..dont?
well see, those stabs are fine
still a bit hollow but atleast not giga pingy
Have you heard the samples from the mouse discord?
yeah I think this is due to the alu plate that I have in the frog mini
also no case foam
need some more plate materials
Spacebar Foam is probably more effective in that
no need to foam a whole board if your Spacebar is the problem and you are otherwise fine with your current sound design
yeah I was thinking of that but the gmk spacebar doesnt fit the kbdfans spacebar foam so I didnt bother cutting it lol
I asked a Youtuber (MikeyTypes) to test all switches on a single spot and also show the RGB and he did. The color difference is quite big tbh
nope, could you link it? im not in that disc
it's just sound boosted
pamysia is hearing more ping etc because the sample is boosted to make everything louder
yeah I found the samples
what board is that?
honestly i think it's just his earphones though because the samples sound fine to me and i'm pretty sure the guy doing the sample has a heavily modded board already
non wooting?
iirc it's 60he case swapped and modded
frog mini or similar iirc
yeah I wouldnt say its super hollow or something
there's background noise but I'm trying to make out the pure keyboard sound and it seems fine to me
I got open back reference headphones so maybe its easier to distiguish on mine
also yeah the audio is boosted so irl it is likely not as loud
Yes!!
my jade maxes arrived to the post office but im also waiting for a ton of geon stuff so I can grab it all at once
@fluid ravine hey! what was your conclusion on lubing raw he? I remember you recommended not lubing them but after some time I think you said they're better lubed?
cause I feel like there is a little bit of lube missing on the very initial part of the keystroke, like it's not 100% smooth in the beginning
considering lubing them for the venom build
but also don't want to do unnecessary work lol
Sneaky
Will you guys add poron foam or PE foam to your 80HEs?
wonder if this is by design? mine are not installed yet but took one out of the packet and could feel what you were talking about. do they feel better to type with after removing the lube there?
as far as i understood the lube is there to dampen the return stroke, when stem hits the housing
i've only removed lube from a few of them as a test so no experience with a full board or typing
fair enough, alot of effort for testing it if doing a full board 😅
i plan on doing it, but probably next week as i need to order lube and the new switch puller haven't arrived yet

Be careful when using the wooting (standard) switch opener with Geon Raws - I ruined one or two switches with that one before realizing
It works fine if you open it half way and then fiddle it open with your fingers - but do not put too much force
I tested both, unlubed and lubed. Personally, I really think they sound much better lubed. However, I am wondering if they would feel a bit smoother with the Super Lube instead of the krytox
I see, I will lube them then
Might be my lubing, but some switches feel like they are a little sticky given the tight fit of the stem
Hence, superlube is prolly a better lubricant for the switches (just my thoughts)
lube sets in in time so I don't think super lube is necesary, but yeah it can be sticky initially
Honestly after lubing and taking the "less is more" more seriously, there wasn't a big difference in sound after lubing them. Overtime it breaks in and will sound the same stock. Terms of smoothness I find it a bit better.
I see I see, I will lube em for the sake of smoothness then
after I test jade maximus
not hiding behind those clear housings
Lubing last night drove me semi crazy until I realize the stem has to align in a very specific way or it gets stuck
Overall not as bad as I thought it was gonna be
yeah its how it is on gateron switches
geon suspects they will do clickies/tactiles using that pertruiding part
Hello, does anyone know if harvesting Flaretech Red switches from Gigabyte Aorus K9 (or another Flaretech keyboard?) and putting them into Wooting One/Two works properly?
not properly
theres also only the aorus k9
and they used the flaretech type a switches
so no analog values just on or off
i only know of the aorus k9
never seen a third brand use it
according to google the 1 uses mx brown
cant even find if they are flaretechs
wooting
akko ducky
aorus k9```
and the celeritas 2 then
Not a good idea
Those are non he switches
Incompatible with a hall effect board
so the one thing i dont know is if you can convert the type A into type B
my man read the message you replied to thanks
Did I say something wrong?
Flaretechs are opticals no?
yes and they specifically asked to harvest them to put them into a wootine one or two
both are optical boards of ours
FR
I didn't even know wooting made optical lol that's cool
they prob due as you can cleanly switch the IR from 0 to 100
Then idk Tony will probably be able to answer your questions better than me lol
that would be type B analog
thats our range
na im trying to see if i can get one of those or more on ebay for cheap
ye ive been wondering anyway how different a and b are for the flaretechs
@tropic urchin the most intact package from aliexpress
got scared for a sec they sent me the pros
LOL must have ran out of packaging
This is why I don't buy anything of ali I'd rather overpay on Amazon or smth else
well tbf im exaggerating a bit cause I never had actual damaged goods, just bent boxes
Mine for some reason always arrive early and in perfect condition idk what they do I never had a package arrive early except from them
they throw the box out of the window or something💀
That checks out
@calm pulsar
lmaoo this looks comical
It DID come with bubble wrap so
Even Gateron doesn’t trust US shipping and handling
they feel kinda nice in hand already
I liked their click stock then I lubed them and it’s actually a crazy difference irl that doesn’t show up on tests
this is making me reconsider wanting to buy zero reds from ali
I might’ve overlubed a couple but nothing some natural wear and tear won’t evenly spread out eventually
It sounds a little brighter but I might be losing my mind
Are Gateron jade work on Wooting 2he?
its all right, my gf got me a ninjutso sora v2 from ali and its all good
they have returns just like everywhere else
how does something like this even happen
the switch box is smaller than package box
yeah I figured, it’ll probably be fine. the packaging of the zero reds would make it pretty hard for them to get damaged in shipping.
must be paper thin cardboard then lmao
it just looks so goofy
yeah lol
US shipping and handling is what happened
😔
It went thru 6 different fulfillment centers/DCs that were 45 mins away from my house for 3 days
So I’m not surprised the box is beat up
No switches were harmed so all good
that’s what true freedom feels like
True freedom is not paying excessive VAT, but everything in this life has trade offs
thanks for the replies, I'm not very well versed in the switch terminology, but if I follow this right, if I tried to use these Aorus switches, then the analog functionality wouldn't work (which is not a big deal for my current use), and whether or not the rest (the digital part) would work remains uncertain? :( For context, I'm trying to give my Wooting One another life with new switches, but getting the Flaretech switches separately seems next to impossible these days :/ So now I'm wondering about swapping from other Flaretech keyboards as an alternative path. I've also looked at Zowie Celeritas, tho that model seems far less available than Aorus
if you look for the celeritas make sure its the 2
not the 1
and not the pro
zowie celeritas 2
akko ducky (dont know which exactly)
gigabyte aorus k9```
thats the other boards. the cidoo might be a good try as well
Flaretech Mechanical Keyboard The CIDOO CD502s Keyboard utilizes Flaretech switch technology. Switching is a crucial component of a mechanical keyboard. We specialize in optical products, both for the manufacture of the switches and for the patented porter. Faster Working Speed The Flaretech Switch is an optical switch
seems to even still be sold
the 1 negative review wouldnt really affect you in this case as keyboard color and the keeb being damaged would be of no issue
fair enough, yh I've had the 2 in mind, so just to clarify, are the switches from these keyboards likely to work (minus analog)? You've mentioned something about types A and B and range before
they should still work
yes
Thx
gatreon jades are a bit overpriced tho i would consider looking into what i think is a better sounding and feeling switch the geon raws
how are you liking the sora i heard its a great mouse how does it compare to something like gpx
I have odered them now, but its ok.
I have Nuphy Field 75 He too and i Like the switches
jades are still a great switch tho
I had a viper ultimate and viper v2 pro before and I claw grip, so sora v2 was an insanely welcome change, the back bump is much better for my grip
yeah i swiched from v2 to v3 pro and it was much more comfortable
quality wise seems perfectly fine, and the clicks sound better than viper v2
also nice catch lol get you someone that buys you mice
the weight is also very good
haha yeah
i would have gotten it if it was bigger but the 53g v3 pro is working for me rn
i prefer the atlantis but thorne is cool'
totally fair
for my small hand sora feels nice
yeah smaller hands are actually better for competetive video games
Cidoos software is pretty bad from what I've heard
most keyboard software is pretty badd
wootility is awesome tho its probably the best software i have ever used
Yeah that's the reason I'm getting another wooting it's very good
Oh I didn't read that part my bad lol
That's a good idea though
Oo the first one is nice
@tropic urchin @fluid ravine curious for your thoughts (if the test is even good lol)
@glacial wind and yours
The right is the stock Max I take it?
yes
Looks fine to me
I think it sounds pretty close to a few other STs for stock, I only have 1 key I can use for mine but I’ll try sending one of my lubed units
On the geon opener
You can definitely tell the right is max from the slightly more muted sound
yeah I feel like the fully closed bottom gives it a bit more compressed sound, if that is a good word for it
I think it’s just the material. They changed the plastic so that see through plastic just sounds like that
When I lubed mine it took away some of the mechanical noise and made it sound slightly more creamy/brighter in tone which seems strange
I also noticed if I spam raws really hard the sound is naturally louder
but with jades they stay fairly muted as I hit keys harder
I want to see someone try ttc Uranus esports to see if they sound as bad as every video I’ve seen lol
TTC is not a vibe
overall been super unimpressed with the whole box stem wave of HE. They all sound awful and while they’re tiny bit more stable they’re also easier to feel scratchy and less smooth due to the box stem
Amen 🙏🏻
Seems they only got popular because the Chinese testers test bottom out stability by wiggling it around at bottom out - which box stem excels at, but it means nothing all that useful towards actual usage vs a raw he or jade pro
btw just did a little wobble test and raws seem to be winning by a long shot
I've probably owned 20+ different box switches over the years and maybe really liked a few of them
Yeah raw he is impressively low wobble for a non box stem. They’re only barely more wobble than the box stem he while being much smoother and sounding nicer
yeah seems like better tolerances are a better solution compared to boxed stems
raws seem to not wobble left and right at all, while jade max does
however jade max are still way better than normal jades imo, which shouldn’t be surprising
One of my favorite box stems, made by a rl friend of mine who knows their stuff - https://www.cbkbd.com/product/trash-linear-switches
they look fire ngl
Raw Jade mix looks kinda cool
whats a good website to sell switches?
i have Lumia Matcha V3 switches but dont use them
Have you tried putting any 205 on the maxes
Once I go on lunch imma send over some of mine
Gonna be scuffed but all I have is my geon single key ‘keyboard’
not yet, I’m thinking to try them out in stock
and if I like how they feel I might lube them and install geon pingless springs, whole 9 yards
cause honestly they felt nice when I was trying to spam multiple keys
what are the rest of ur kbs specs
maybe I miss that jade bottom out lol
frog mini, alu plate
poron plate foam, no case foam
Mikeytypes said they were good stock, I couldn’t hear a difference between his tests, but the feel is
tofu redux without the brass weight feels like plastic lmfao
you probably mean the brass weight but yeah this case is better with it
@calm pulsar this is stock
i js installed mine after not having it for 3 days
Lubed
yeah its slightly cleaner cause factory lube isnt perfect, but still very good on most switches these days
Is the only real difference in the switch the sound? I’m debating between the Lekker v2 and raws, and I think I want the v2’s because they have a much deeper sound
i ended up going more for bottom/stem/spring lube with light on upper if at all
Hey all, I got a question about swapping springs in an HE switch.
If I wanted to buy the 100 g spring pack. Do I need anything besides a tool to separate the switches? Is lube required And if so, what lube does everyone recommend for lekkers?
Or is there an already assembled 100 g HE switch that I could buy?
yea the clear ones are jade max
yup jade max
@tropic urchin damn the rgb on my shinethrough capslock is so brighter now even though the led is on north side lol
Pics
is it too late to ask for a shinethrough brightness difference of stock to jade max?
older pic
but you can see how it kinda doesnt fill the whole window with light on second pic
\\
Max is going to make my Lazurite fire for RGB color
posted my older pic when I had another switch in that spot
on jade max it fills the rgb window pretty much completely when you look at it irl, while with other switches that I had it was kinda not as bright
never thought I'd say this but jade maxes feel very nice when typing
a bit more "plasticky" compared to raws or normal jades, but not in a bad way, just a different feel due to the different materials used
@safe stag and honestly I don't feel any resistance when pressing the keys
I felt more resistance when installing keycaps on the PC stem compared to usual POM, that's for sure
#Convert 👀
well raws are still very unique due to that semi closed bottom design, they have a bit different bottom out feel, but maybe it's more noticeable for me on frog mini
I will say that the price on jade maxes is still dumb lol, but they feel way cleaner that normal jades
also I can still hear the springs on jade maxes, so I recommend lubing them or getting geon pingless springs
Price + keycap stem situation doesn’t help for sure
I think I’m 40% done lubing
Do you use a "lube station"?
looks fine
Do i need to separate the plate from pcb to install screw in stabilisers?
I haven't opened switches yet, but I imagine it's pretty tedious, has anyone tried one of these guys compared to a normal switch opener?
205g0
edit: that's the switch lube, 105 is the oil which is ideal for springs.
Any video guide?
no? Wooting has the krytox 205g0 switch lube on their product page. Is that not what they use?
oh I see, you are referring to the oil lubricant. I'm dumb
Sound test on a Fifine mic:
Gateron Jade Max
Frog Mini case, no case foam
Aluminum plate, poron plate foam
Has anyone heard a sound test of everglades new sticky rice v2 or pudding he switches?
it's nice to do it in preparation so you can just build the board and enjoy it
tho you probably need to lube the stabs before building the board
but it doesnt take long
are black knights or lekkar v2 more deeper sounding? tryna decide on a switch
Yeah that was my plan, the stabs scare me a little bit, but just gotta pull the bandaid off
There’s a sound test on wootings channel if you want to compare
Gotta go for the custom look
Stabs you kind of have to wait for the keyboard to tune them unless you have a stab tester or spare pcb
Unless you want to just lube them and not test it until keyboard arrives
It was the clear swag Knight V2s right
Bigsly would be like "what?" lol
but I agree they are all open bottom switches
you're asking abt which stabs I ordered?
I feel like the sticky rice and the leeker v2 sound the same
The clear ones with the gold wire I believe right
yeah I think I have these on order
And what’s the closest thing to a creamy switch sound on an hollow effect switch?🤔
Hi, what would be a best detection range of a hall sensor to use in DIY project for lekker switches?
If your project uses 8 or fewer sensors, we suggest something similar to this:
https://www.allegromicro.com/en/products/sense/linear-and-angular-position/linear-position-sensor-ics/a1454
If you're using more than 8, better to use this one:
https://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/drv5053.pdf
If more than 16, you'll want to add a multiplexer
https://www.digikey.com/en/products/detail/texas-instruments/CD74HC4067SM96/390310
Sharing those links and making those statements is quite literally all I know about it so if you have follow up questions you'll need to make a post in #1019755933959733258
Thank you
Sure thing 🙂
@stone flax
creamy isnt a thing in he at all lol maybe a mild thock would be the closest thing
Do you know what is a exact range of magnetic flux form l45?
Or estimate
I do not
What do you even need that for lol you starting your own line of switches
Im doing my bachelors and my topic is a analog keyboard, it is based on lekker l45 and I need that info to use a correct hall effect sensor
???? because flux ranges matter for making sure it works on given pcb’s and sensors😭😭
big bro what?
If I use sensor that sensing range Is diffrent then the magnetic flux of switch It wont sense anything
nah bro the thockcousing is king
That's really cool 👍👍
There are simpler ways to determine that tho
Thank you? You can call me dan btw

My raws and knights v2 will arrive tomorrow 🔥
I hope I don't miss up anything with my incompetence in lubing
It's not hard to lube knights
First time tho
Lil bit of 205g0 good to go
Ima put some 205g0 on the stem and on the housing and on the wire
I'm generally scared of the raws lubing
They don't really need lubing apart from the springs really
Even then I think many people skip that with no issues
I would try them stock and see how they are first for sure
I already spend a lot of money on the lubing kit
Well it'll come in handy for the stabilizers and that stuff lasts forever
Worst case you have it for later
Yeah I agree
Might lube the lekkers and use them
I still think thier sound is the best
@stone flax how you liking that
Have you looked for a Wooting One second hand already?
There are a few for sale near me. They aren’t that cheap though. 😂
“WHY NO RAW
”
are the geon raw HEs compatible with wooting 60HE? I already ordered so… main thing is that they travel 3.4mm instead of 4 so i wonder how that’ll effect the software
Thank you for your contribution to the Church of Geon! It's compatible but iirc you have to do 3.4/4.0 multiplied by the distance you want the key to actuate.
Then you got the value to put on wootility
They do planned to add a way to make it calculate for you by the software, but that's later.
current wootility is a scale
4.0 in wootility is just 100% of the press, which irl on the raws would be 3.4
can solve for the actual distance u want by just converting
switch selector down the line would most likely take care of this
With my french English accent
and the feeling is even worse when I put keycaps on
I get it, but I've been playing for the past couple of hours on them and never noticed that
I really have to go out of my way to press the keys like that
not sure how you even press like that with keycaps on
You’d almost have to have your finger pressing it like a backwards slash \
Do you guys use the standoffs for the tofu redux and the screw that comes with it?
thanks, it would be nice if they add a key depth modifier in a later update
Yes
All Gateron’s Dual Rail switches have friction when pressing on the far left/right. It’s not really an issue but can be annoying. Lubing the rails and the bottom housing helps for a short time only.
I can confirm "for a short time only"
My z and e key were the most affected
after 3 weeks it's back at original state
so jades pro have the same issue ?
Yeah, I really don’t understand why Gateron is keeping the Dual Rail shit alive.
jade pro arent dual rail
Jade Pros aren’t Dual Rail switches.
wait, I thought they were dual rail
so what's the difference between og and pro ?
exept the price
the price is the same, but older jades are discounted heavily
other than that the spring and better tolerances are the differences
should've just upgraded to raws
Gotta have some Jade Cultists to offset the RAW energy
lol we are 2
I will be honest, im starting to shift back to liking the jade bottom out feel more than on raws
with which upper housing ?
I watched those videos too, I member
black knights
I think my favorite sound is neo lavender https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=glbUIxIfTK0
my stem bounced into my lap and i stuck my middle finger in lube, hate my life rn D:
I think I'm digging the jade maxes sound simply cause they use new materials which I havent experienced before
the sound is not bad, not my favorite still
lol when I got a stem holder the whole process became better
Im using a geon stem holder, but it was when i was tryna put it all back together towards the end where you put on the top housing
the spring is crazy
lol yeah I just disassembled a jade max and it's long af
the fact that all parts are transparent makes them hard to rebuilt after lubing
@safe stag you could try using the jade max spring with your normal jades, maybe the feel is better this way
I didnt have a problem with it being transparent, but the stem has to go in a very specific way or it locks up on you that I had trouble with until I realized I was being smooth brained
I don't complain about the feel of my og jades, and I prefer lighter switches since I play adofai I every g is a endurance loss
everything else was easy once you match the north facing LED cutout area with each other
yeah ever since lekker v1s gateron was making the stems this way
only geon raw he and some boxed stems seem to not have extra notches
thank u
also, I saw a picture about gateron box magnetic jades
not the worst experience of all time, but kinda jarring until you do 10 of em and realize the error of your ways
those looked so bad ;_;
pls no Jade Magnetos
@calm pulsar
jade gaming lol
why not
yeah I did a lil sound test of jade maxes, also uploaded some comparisons with raws
O can you send it to me again
yes I want it too please
thanks
Good improvment on the top out
bottom out pitch are slightly different between the two
here's raws and maxes for a comparison, but these are not scientifically identical tests, mic might be slightly in a diff position
im liking raws better
max is a little too subtle
yeah maxes seem to be a bit more muted on bottom out but still clear on top out
yeah
I prefer raws
I'm kinda unfortunate with how my raws sound rn, top out a bit sharp
like raws are jades max, but they assume their sound
not like it's chattering but it doesn't sound as soft as it usually would
could be springs?
could be
i haven't looked into it
I hope it is
Cus again my top housings are already lubed
esp the alphas
I definitely fucked up this one switch with too much lube oh thats gnarly sounding
And some of the lube from the top stem railings mightve transfered to the top housing anyways
Satisfying sound with every keystroke? Are there any windows app that allows you upload sound bites for every keypress? Kind of like this alarm clock https://youtu.be/dMqWTkgDt6A?si=6RYXpP2Dm7Xfjr64
Introducing Nintendo Sound Clock: Alarmo, an interactive alarm clock that’s out of the ordinary! Alarmo responds to your body’s movement with game sounds, so you can feel like you’re waking up in the game world itself. Set an alarm inspired by five Nintendo games, with more alarms on the way as free updates as they become available.
Add some p...
I think jade pros and maxes might be onto something with the longer springs
they are still light like usual but the top out is snappier which I like
yeah i need myself longer springs or dual staged
but geon springs are very good in terms of sound too, another dilemma😭
yeah
i might have to redo some of my springs
i have a really good feeling about what you said @calm pulsar
Pressing each key lightly with control, the top out sounds fine
can't send the video I did of my modded keyboard with geon raws
the size is too big. wanted your input on the sound profile
but yeah just straight up typing normally it really sounds like my springs are unevenly lubed or wtv
i might've done something wrong during my bag lubing process
rookie mistakes chat, I aint the best at everything
yeah I think you gotta be careful with springs
fo sho
lowkey I think my raws sound better with jade max spring
cause I might've overlubed my geon springs
im curious
(which arent even supposed to be lubed lmao)
That snappy feel of switches feels so nice to me
iirc the akko v3 cream yellow i had, had long springs
they felt nice with the returning keystroke
if it was a bit heavier i wouldve liked it more
oh well ig i just gotta wait
I remembered I have some springs from aliexpress which are dual stage and 22mm fricking long lol
dah damn
"dah" 💀
whats a good way to unlube a switch, im low key about to throw away this one that I lubed to hell and back
you could try to just remove some with a brush
i straight up use tweezer and paper
I might need to put some iso on my brush when Im done maybe
i use to have this pointy ass swap that did crazy work for me back then
i really need a whole closet of it
so I tried these (one the left) and they feel kinda low quality
not sure if its cause they are dual stage or that they ahve less coils, but I'd probably get long one stage springs
these from aliexpress seem interesting and a lot of different weights
they might be similar to jade max springs which sound better imo
Isopropanol
Yeah Im thinking I gotta wipe it with a lil bit, I went too hard on the stem 😅
First pure Without iso and the maybe with iso
W strat
It is useable again 🙂
I used a little bit of an alcohol wipe and it now longer sounds like its stuck in the mud
my tofu 60 redux 60he build ❤️
gold is
AE two stage?
yeah on the right
left i believe is what he linked below
Thoughts??
AE two stage is kinda trash
loving the longer jade max spring
@calm pulsar how does the max spring feel compared to other HE switches
Dang
Guess I have to buy the jade max and harvest springs for BK switches
I have a new dilemma now
cause geon pingless sound nice and silent and jade max seem nicer for the feeling
try AE 22mm one stage springs first I would say, cause they seem better than the 2stage ones in terms of quality
I might have to send a request to Gateron for a jade max pingless spring
the have a lot of coils like on jade max spring
If I show them my discord username do you think they'd listen to me xD
https://sl.aliexpress.ru/p?key=Sak7rPT
change the language and you should be able to see em in US region
Max is open bottom?
optical illusion moment
They have 28g
I like
now that I think of it, jade maxes might just appear black with a black plate, just like I always wanted lol
You are banned from the Geon fanclub now 😤
So 22mm springs over the pingless Geon or what
yeah they got a selection
I would probably order some a bit heavier ones, just in case 28g ones are too weak
too weak not in terms of weight
but in terms of quality
like too wobbly
Fair
lubed 22mm springs are probably the highest on my list rn after experiencing jade max springs
28g oof. You sneeze and half your switches activate
longer springs are nice
@calm pulsar did you ever get the 100g springs?
Rich
@polar girder if you ever go full degen and buy switches just for the springs, keep in mind
jade pro - 22mm springs and cheaper
jade max - 20mm springs and gold coated
anyone knows if woot uwu switches can be removed? Or they are fixed
yeah I have the lekker 100g springs, but I never used them lol, ended up going for 70g ones at the time
Gotta try them. Full board though. No half assed
Hot swappable
hmm I do have two wooting pcbs and another case
19 more switches to go
nah i think its fixed
It’s not
I try rlly hard to pull it out
you need a switch puller
yes im on a switch puller
start pulling from the front side and then pull the other
you dont need a switch puller lol theyre just nice to have
ive pulled a few hundred switches by now and havent bought a switch puller yet
anti switch puller and switch opener people, psychos!
well for hotswapping its probably super hard to just use hands
kk i pulled it out ty for replying
flat screwdriver
hehe
i have this thing that looks kind of like a flathead that is perfect for pulling
i mean if i was pulling switches regularly i would buy one but its not the biggest deal to not have one
see? he gets it
it works just gotta be careful lmaooo

didnt you used to be woothelp did they demote you
I have my klein flat that i used for my switches for a bit it was risky
Not him. He’s not special enough
demoted for helping too much? 💀
it's Thackson lol
idk they turned me down
ik
oh rly? maybe enough ppl already?
I didn’t ask because I didn’t want to be turned down
IDEK why they didnt give me a reason
iirc Thackson never had a helper role, but he is active and helpful on the server
you ask for it?
i think ive been doing pretty good
yea
should just appoint it to those that are helpful
thack should’ve had it long ago lmao
this tbh
I thought you had to sign a NDA form for Woothelp
while also being at the age of 18+
for woothelp too?
for mod I can understand
Can’t sign a legal contract unless 18
i never had a role to begin with
BS imo but ok
i think
ye ye^
i turned 25 recently idk why they turned me down
tbh, why the nda when even if you wanted to leak something, calder would’ve done it already lol
🤣
He just a baby. I own socks older than him
lol
i speak several languages what other qualifications do i need
i got a tshirt from 1999
LMAO
real!!
I recently bought a fender stratocaster that is as old as myself
All the mods and helpers I know of have spent 1000s on keeb stuff. Maybe it’s for rich people only
we got some ageists in chat
maybe when im a boomer it will be worth smth
honestly ive met teens smarter and more mature than me
that being said gen A is stupid
heh i could never
Most teenagers I've seen in public make me feel like Thockfather so Im prob the opposite
sorry if your gen a but their stupid lol
and im only 26 lmfao
im gen z
I hate children and teenagers nowadays. Why I quit driving school buses
what year?
im a 2008
i hate gen alphas respectfully
early 1998
literally
No you’re a millennial
Gonna be 27 in a few months and not looking forward to it
turned 27 a month ago
mid 99
im gonna turn 16 this dec
gen z is cool actually
You get it lmaoo
