Except that most other sets can be run again in the future and these won't.
only the few rare exceptions get a rerelease that is not marked
also what stops novelkeys from just rereleasing deepfield
- seems like gatekeeping to me
Me, im eating them
yummy gmk trays

Their word. If they go back on it, then the whole idea of limited run sets is destroyed. But I know Mike and Riley personally and I trust them.
like new box art etc
I just personally don't think that forced exclusivity is a good thing
if it is actually good why make it harder to get with bad pricing/kitting and then limit it as well, when there is no reason to do so
outside of "collectors value" aka prospecting flippers
I understand your argument and know it's not yours alone but in any hobby where things can be collected, supply and demand drive the market. Sometimes supply is limited on purpose, sometimes it's not.
there is nothing stopping anyone from cloning it
Exactly
if you designed a set and run it with gmk they won't make it for anyone else unless they get your permission
so why make an emphasis on it being numbered
Because the numbers validate the limited qty and provide authenticity I assume
Finalmouse has entered the chat
Any hobby really. Trading card, coins, stamps, etc
except they don't really, not hard to increase said numbers kinda invisibly, just by making duplicates
True
If I have #69 and see someone selling a #69, it would be pretty easy to determine it's been duplicated.
man we should have numbered the lekker edition
Yes
at least not one forced by manually limiting supply
Itâs exclusively for the sake of being exclusive, itâs fine, some like it and some donât.
Numbered moist lekker editions is what the masses demand
i do like limited suppy products for some
imo it actively hurts the market
ability to qc and put effort into each product is nice
I get limited supply for boards since QC is a lot harder with those
like a LOT harder
but even there it is bs a lot of the times
But it doesn't if there is enough demand to drive a higher price. It does hurt those with limited budgets but doesn't hurt the market.
CS skins are a perfect example
I mean in general demand for keycaps is steadily going down
Then you have to reduce supply to keep the price up.
Simple economics
not happening at an MOQ of 250
atm GMK can't afford to lower MOQ
Unless nk should buy 250 sets and then shredder half of them to make them more collectible
shrugs I can't agree or disagree with that. NovelKeys is the largest 3rd party keyboard distributor in the US so I assume they are doing something right.
It can also be a win win for startups, you can get away with a small amount of supply without having the âwhen is it gonna be restocked!?â questions.
Not at the lead times it would being, makes cash flow abyssmal
and exclusivity drives demand up.
I think that's what makes Kickstarter so good in some cases
The ability to just scam people
I think itâs fine as long as demand isnât crazy high, because thatâd drive the reselling price up and then it becomes unhealthy imo
Crowdsourcing / group buys do have risks but the majority of the time they work out. Wooting started the same way.
You could argue this is why Unikorns, Janes, Kohakus and such are so high z buts its purely from limited qty and high demand
Demand should always be matched to some degree unless the product is very difficult to manufacture. So anyone that wants the product second hand is still able to get it for around msrp.
imo.
I think thatâs healthy.
Otherwise resellers will buy multiple of the product and drive the price up.
Thatâs shit
for everyone really
business gets flamed for selling to resellers
is it weird to think a selling point for something shouldnt be âoh my god theres so little being madeâ
like its 2024
and the actual customers canât get the product.
Itâs everywhere tbh
but then having that be a reason its hiked is crazy lol
ordering less on purpose to make it so that less people can have it and its more expensive?

How is the purchase process for the sets? First come first serve type thing?
Probably, or a raffle. So you have to win the chance of buying the product.
It sounds pretty crazy tbh
lol
I see. That last set wasnât for me but Iâd be interested to pick something up down the line if something I like comes up. I agree with Tirade that the first set was really good. I like clean looking sets like that. I donât mind forced exclusivity. Iâm sad I canât buy those artisans Tirade linked yesterday but its my fault for not knowing about them and trying to get them earlier
Same
Quite the other way actually, 250 is the minimum amount
And nk handled lots of gmk gbs with over 1 or 2k
I don't wanna go back to forced scarcity bs and get stupid flippers
And mgl imo the sets they released this way would have had no chance of hitting MOQ unless they got bought out
Say does anyone know if the klippe T case is a 5 degree or a 7?
Not saying all kickstartes are scams, but there is a significant difference between a kickstarter and a group buy
8 degrees
Kbdcraft is neither kbdfans nor lego
Ah sht
Its literally using lego
"lego compatible bricks' it is offbrand yes but it still cooks
also idk why tf it is kickstarter, only reason that would make sense is that after running multiple kits like that they got so little money and interested stores that they could not afford to pay for it in advance this time as well or host a normal GB
with a kickstarter they have no obligation to actually ship you anything
Cuz of its TOS
It's crowdfunding. Using other people's money to finance your project. They do have an obligation to ship, but like with any business z that doesn't mean they don't break the law.
The only people you'll be suing most of the time is the business putting it up on kickstarter
and the thing is that its also state dependent on the laws
Here is the crazy thing. I've backed over 30 Kickstarter projects and never been scammed. I've done over 30 keyboard group buys and been scammed twice.
It happens everywhere, Kickstarter or not.
Speaking of, my newest Kickstarter backed project arrived yesterday. A new tent for my truck
Wait you do truck camping?
Wait that sounds fun ngl
Truck camping, camper camping, normal camping, Im outdoors every weekend
does that not sound
ai?
O shit nice i was gonna tell you that i was a fond of camping too and wanted to tell you that that project you backed shld alrdy have the same thing as what other compeititors are selling if i am not wrong
Or its probs revamped
I can b wrong in this ^
Just an fyi
The roof space 2? It's the first to do it. I've been watching the project for over a year
Sickkkk
Ig i am rlly out of the backings league then
Well not the first roof top tent, but first one to open the way it does and is held open by steel cables. The ladder is only needed to get in to it, not to hold it up.
Yea then its portable and it makes sense
The ones i saw was held by steel cables and the prop up ladder
Keyboards are my hobby, fly fishing and camping are my passion
only GB I got "scammed" on was due to mykeyboards insolvency
Was thinking about truck camping while going over the world
should have seen that coming at the time tbh
but I didn't wanna bother with buying from a different vendor
Mkultra? That was one of my 2 I got bit by
my dad was an earlier kickstarter user and got burned enough times for me not even trying to bother with it
no mykeyboard
yea
they were obv having financial issues for well over a year before it happened, I still bought into the set because I wanted it
Yeah I got scammerd by mkultra on the GMK Nord group buy. Ended up buying the set later on mechmarket

man gmk nord must have had it all then
abandoned by both the designer and lead vendor
Every other vendor paid for theirs. Mkultra only paid the initial deposit. Then ghosted and shut down the site. Most orders never delivered
yea obv, but lead vendor also manages a few other things
The worst part, other than paying twice for the set, is I don't even use it lol
iirc david was picked to colormatch because they had issues reaching out to anyone resposible for the project
rip
Sits on the shelf on the plastic...
I use most of my plastic
though it is always fun to see people choke on their 25 GMK sets they didn't even open
sorry if this is a dumb question but does the plate that comes with the 60he+ module support plate mounted stabilizers?
I have plate mounts on half of mine because of the ease of tuning and swapping. If you want to go one and done, go with screw-in or clip-in stabs
I have seen someone with 50+
I have seen people with dozens of the same set
Ive got close 40-50 sets now but mainly it's because I love have a set and artisan match for that perfect combo in the future
Ahh I dont own any duplicates
my main reason is that i was slightly stupid and didnât check and just assumed the ones i ordered were screw in but they arenât
I own 2 sets of modo
plate mount will be find then. Enjoy them
what did you get
just use stock lol
but it was a 2 am purchase so i wasnât really with it
yeah iâll see how they both feel but i wanted them to match the switches
I have the everglide panda v3's in a board next to me and they work fine
wtf my android keyboard isnt autocorrecting right today
Is anyone running black knights that could do a sound test?
Lots are but internet sound tests arent going to do much for you.
True true especially since they are going into an 80he that no one has yet lol
Even then it wouldnt do much hehe. It's a slightly deeper picthed switch when compared to other popular switches like the Jades, RAW's, Lavenders, etc
daily life of an apple user đ
i swear they are changing my auto correct on the daily
iâm not crazy!!!
Quick question about the graingold black knights, the key travel is 3.6mm but people are saying it's reporting full travel in the keyboard software, is the travel actually 3.6mm and the keyboard just reports full travel or is that specification wrong and it's actually 4.0 mm and the keyboard reports the full travel as intended?
Its 3.6mm travel
Ahh so on top of getting new switches it also needs new stabilizers?
You should be fine with the current stabs at 3.6mm
Ah, but if the travel is 3.6mm how is the keyboard still reporting full travel? Is it something to with the auto calibration?
Yes its calibrated
In the future you'll be able to choose a switch preset as well to pre-calibrate
Nice
Will the keyboard still do the same with even shorter travel switches like the jades?
Or will it stop short?
Black Knights have a total travel of 4.0mm, 3.6 is wrong.
So they work fine.
If they had a travel of 3.6mm, they wouldnât work fine.
so the 3.6mm spec by graingold is wrong. huh
By MoyuStudio, yes.
Theyâre aware of their mistake but havenât yet corrected it.
Itâs probably too late already as every listing just repeated their shit.
Itâs an open bottom 4.0mm switch.
I wonder if graingold just gave them the wrong spec sheet by accident or something
Could be but I doubt it.
Itâs more likely on MoyuStudio themselves. If you donât test the product you receive from the manufacturer then things like this can happen.
Please update the switch compatibility list if you havenât already. I can tell people a million times but if itâs still in #đŞâmodding_faq theyâll assume itâs accurate.
I don't own them so if it's wrong then we have to punish @harsh dove since he was the one who entered those
is it not already 3.6?
Itâs a 4.0 total travel switch rather than 3.6.
Doesnât matter much who put it imo, just that itâs updated cause people use that info to make decisions.
My point is that if its different than what the manufacturer has listed then someone has to tell us and show they have verified it.
Which btw, is the reason you're in a group chat with us cough cough
Iâve sent the picture many times
Including the statement from Moyu. đ
Yeah, knowing itâs a 4.0 mm travel switch has led me to just now place an order
where can i buy gugu black knight switches?
Black knight?
Kprepublic or Ali express
Yeah. Cam updated the spreadsheet so itll be changed to 4.1 in the next update
In the meantime I added a note
doesnt it always say 4.0 lol?
regardless of actual distancew
i always assumed its like a scale
Yes
yeah
Yeah exactly
Well thatâs weird and dumb but ok lol
Thanks
As for the Black Knights being 3.6mm on the spreadsheet, thatâs simply because all vendors had it listed as 3.6mm originally and some may still have it listed as that but MoyuStudio confirmed that was incorrect and they are 4.1mm
are gugu black knights the best thock switches for wooting?
Iâd say so. Or stem swapped raptors but BK good stock
Lekker v2 might compete
right now im using the v1.5 and the difference between that and v2 is magnet strength which idk if it effects sound
But open bottom more thock than closed bottom for sure
Itâs more diff than that Iâm pretty sure
But idk theyâre not out yet so I canât really comment on v2
can you friction mount with stock stabs
Stock plate mount stabs yes
do they come plate mounted or screw in
Module screw in stabs can work but sometimes donât
Depends which module you bought
60HE+ assembled plate mount good for it
More than one module? What?
Man, hype only has grey nylon for plates
Really want black

Modules come with screw ins, he meant Prebuilt probably.
Right
have there been any issues with black knight like sticky rice or no?
No
Not to my knowledge and not to my personal experience
I use them
I like them
No issues reported.
is the lowest actuation for black knights 0.1?
Idk I would assume any lowest actuation is .1mm TBH
Anything lower is pointless IMO
But IDK
Dam you make me look good
Meaning if he got the prebuilt module or the standalone
Next season on HoardersâŚ.
Right right
need to look for a pink jane
so i can finally open my noel
and put my artisans onthem
some reason the stock switch puller doesnt work on the switches
am i doing it wrong?
so far guys, whats the best HE switch in terms of sound and calibration raw data?
I have the Geon Raptors HE
probably, check a video maybe? you're probably rotated 90° with the puller

đ§âđ¤âđ§ ...
i figured it out but thank you
ello im a noob to modding and just ordered a 2he, anyone know good pudding style keycaps?
currently using a razer blackwidow 2013 𤣠no idea if i should look for oem profile or low profile caps either
definitely not low profile keycapsa on a 2he :p
ok that helps alot
i was looking at the hyperx pudding keycaps
seem okay and relatively cheap
font looks kinda ass tho rip
one thing that you should maybe confirm if the spacebar on that set is 6.25U (it's standard though mostly you'd be safe)
ah okay thanks for that
You could check Ducky keycaps maybe
oh true i forgot ducky was a thing
any suggestions on what case is perfect for this type of keycaps?
Well, any white case I'd say? :P
Hey guys, are the switches that you purchase alongside the 60he+ module come lubed?
yes
is the factory lube good or would it need to be lubed up
not sure how the quality is now compared to when it came out
Itâs pretty minimal
It will suffice if you donât want to. But hand lube will improve the experience.
@stone flax hey bro was wondering if you knew any good light orange sets or orange sets I think it would look good with purple too?
@tawdry tree for real, good call out on the 4.00mm on the black knights, Iâve been looking for switches to switch to that are recommended, and all have been reduced travel so I immediately discounted them for my use case
All good bro! â¤ď¸ Theyâre great switches, a deeper sound and wobble is very decent too.
Being âdust proofâ is nice too
Then Iâll throw the v2 lekkers into my 2he (on all the keys I use the most) and have a good side by side comparison between the versions, I think i have v1âs in my board
A tofu60 redux or something similar good look pretty good, maybe even a holy60
Itâs finally here
Whatâs dust proof?
no dust go inside
Box stems are said to be dust proof
Which I feel like is more of a gimmick with HE switches vs MX
@harsh dove go me!!!!
Actually sold it. lol.
Oh really? The heck
Thatâs wild
Cool tho. Thanks.
Np
Ty. @harsh dove and I had our doubts if it would actually sell lol.
too bad no one at logitech these days has those doubts
I have never understood why thatâs the main argument for box stems. Yes itâs âbetterâ but dust isnât getting under the keycap then on top of the stem then into the switch itself to a point where it causes problems. đ
keycapless buildsđ
oh shoot nice sale
Ty!!! Thatâs my PC plate right there!!!
@quiet bay Iâm shipping your stuff tomorrow. Iâll get you a tracking number asap
Reduced wobble at bottom out is much more significant because for most switches, the top housing has the tight tolerances to reduce wobble rather than the bottom housing. So a non-box stem has increased wobble at bottom out because it doesnât interact with the top housing anymore.
ayee thanks, maybe it'll convince me to buy the full package for the 60he
don't you already have all possible plates lul
I have little doubt. đ
Any local CNC shop would.
Just need to verify their tolerances.
oh wait there is no frog support
@calm pulsar which pc plate should I be buying? I want to avoid the one that has to be drilled
And if it does, you have bigger problems than box stems
Alu en route but need black nylon
Hype only has grey nylon
Grrrr
you can simply go for the wooting one, white or black
kbdfans the new one too, its like a frosted white color I think
I need to hear this aluminum one. I have a build request. You owe me. lol.
yeah me too đ
Ok. Wooting it is. Iâm not doing white again. Black is just too sexy
yup
What do you mean with âdrilledâ?
Lolz aight
Doesnât one of the available ones not have holes drilled for the standoffs? I may be totally mistaken
Oh, hmm. The ISO one maybe?
Thatâs no problem though.
Yo Iâm hella worried this alu plate will have h th e middle stand off hole in it tho
And Iâll cry
Iâm really not sure. Tbh I forgot Wooting has one in black. I donât think I need to look anywhere else. Unless I should be.
wait the cafege one?
I think on the pics they dont have this hole
Yeah, Wootâs plate will work perfectly fine.
Take it to someone who welds aluminum and have it plugged. Not a big deal
Sweet. Ty
Bro
Why scary?
this is for aerodynamics when your pcb moves up and down
Me rn
What? Thatâs perfectly reasonable.
Even if not local, but just the nearest one.
is there anything to check here or just leave it as is
Dumb question but where does this go in my wooting module?
depends on whatg you like :F
Separate press/release sens can be handy but itâs fine if you just want rt
Between the plate and pcb
ight cool
You can swap out the pre-installed silicone switch pad for this foam one.
Can change the sound slightly.
What he said. That or the silicone. Not both.
which do u guys thinks sounds better?
@polar girder @tawdry tree btw not sure if you've seen those but there are stabs made of plastic very similar to black knights
Even something like PCBWay would work but Iâm sure there is one closer to you that is less expensive.
Poron more muted. Silicone more poppy. Your preference.
okie dokie ty so much
Foam if you want a deeper sound, silicone or neither if you want clack.
No problem
The v3 from whoever?
They have the TPU or silicone ones
these are Wuque Studio V3.1
Whatâs this?
Hmm
That with a black stab stem would match black knights perfectly.
What are those?
Ic
I wonder if these fit wooting plates
should be the same dimensions as WS Stupid stabs right?
Yes they work
Introducing WS Stabs V3.1 Black Glitter For the past several months, we have been working hard at designing and prototyping Wuque stabilizers, aiming to have stabs that can be easily used for any kit. WS Stabs V3.1 is specifically designed to match all 1.2 mm PCBs. However, since a lot of people ask us for 1.6mm PCBs
The stem is already black wtf!
fr
Yeah thatâs a newer design they did the same on the stupid stabs
perfect match lol
To prevent wire from coming out
nice, hopefully those would work, cause I ordered đ
Did that ever happen with other stabs?
Personally I would build it twice. Build it with poron then with silicone. Take a video of each one and keep the one you like most.
Not for me which is why I find it gimmicky but whatever
This is the way
Keeps it more stable I guess
Yeah, never heard or seen that happening before
Maybe helps prevent rattle
Fr
I liked the design of Typeplus stabs, too bad they are too wide for woot
Why canât plate mount stabs look this good???
Yeah I was looking at these
Introducing WS Stabs V3 For the past several months, we have been working hard at designing and prototyping Wuque stabilizers, aiming to have stabs that can be easily used for any kit. WS Stabs V3 is specifically designed to match all 1.2 mm PCBs. However, since a lot of people ask us for 1.6mm PCBs, we also make the
They have TPU or silicone
Wire color matches better on the V3s
than 3.1
đ
nitpicking but still
oh I got many diff gold wires from other stabs, giving me an idea đ
yeah, I'll see
who knows what if cafege alu plate supports wider stabs
I kinda already ordered, and it was a choice with the case itself, so I didnt pay extra
I mean it'll be fine regardless
bro did not have one positive thing to say about em lol
Oh ic
if that pic is accurate, it looks like cherry spec so prob not
I just want most silicone and quietist thockiest lol
The 3.1 do match BK perf tho
Kind of almost have to
Alu plate is for screw ins

worth to try tbh
u sure?
Oh so he does custom
Itâs one GB
@calm pulsar did yours already ship?
did u ask? or just hope?
hope
I think it is with australia post already
and the one Bigsly ordered I think is a custom order
Just thought it about it yesterday when I saw the Cafege plate link
Doesnât make sense to have the hole cuz itâs obviously for tray mount stand off but also does make sense if itâs just cookie cutter from Wooting plate with the tadpole spots just added to outside
yeah it is, thought if yours wasnât shipped yet you could ask
Yeah exactly
But seems like file they have for the plate had the hole so Iâm probably cooked
Lolz Iâll be ok
Just order nylon anyway

But then grey
Still cooked

My brain imploded while reading this
Thatâs all I need right?
4+2?
Doh
yeah that's fair, I just kinda had to pay extra for it to be delivered to me and it was a hassle
at first Cafege said that they ship to Russia so I just found some help with paying to ship to my address, but it got cancelled cause they are unable to ship to Ru after all
so I had to re-order through US, thankfully no one bought it while I was unaware
I might just order a custom plate from hypekeyboards or smth at a later point
Yeah and 1.6
bro wrote a whole essay
Can someone here send a pic of how to cut the silicone pad to friction mount
If you have the plate file, just get it made locally, itâs not something crazy. If you get it from the us shits gonna be more exp than it needs to be
what silicone pad
let me find it here, I asked Thackson to post it earlier
Alr cool thanks
The one in between the plate and pcb
All around the edges, @fluid ravine got a pic?
Oh fk. Really?
7+2 then?
Oh thatâs 7u + 2uâs?
Do they have a picture of wtf it includes.
I would think this means 4x2U or 4x2U + 2 (1 7U and 1 6.25U)
Oh perfect
on the pic they just have everything that is needed
Had to scroll so far down lol
đđ
do you happen to know if Durock V3 screw-ins are too wide for woot?
ngl i cant tell where the silicone is
there are other pics, but yeah kinda hard to see
the idea is to just cut on the edges
They are, Durock V3 Screw Ins use a Durock V2 housing which is the same width as TX and Staebies. Theyâll prob work alright though because theyâre pretty loose.
You can swap a Durock V3 stem and put it in an Everglide Panda V3 housing (which does fit Woot).
Stem swapped Panda V3s. đđ
dang we got frankenstabs now lol
well I had fun doing that with my jade knights so I will consider that too
Bro why does discord not take you to the message
They actually seem pretty good, I only did two but they have the tolerances of TX APs
I donât fucking know
itâs so annoying istg
I kind of want to combine both WS TPU and silicone stand ngl
Silicone housing but TPU wire
the fkn worst. I usually start my day by reading everything from the night before and this happens too many times
Yeah itâs straight garbage
Which is weird cause I swore Everglides and durocks were the same
discord gets worse every update ngl (on mobile at least)
Manufacturer, yes. Housing size, no.
Yeah theyâre both made by JWK iirc
Yeah
Yeah I used my phone while vacationing in Greece these past two weeks. Fk dat. So shit
They use a thicker housing on the PCB mount ones
I'm probably gonna buy bulk cherry stabs
oh mine will arrive soon, along with the black alu plate for my friciton mount build
Gotta save some money somehow all these fancy expensive stabs
Remind me to not use USPS shipping ever again cause what is this
Little bit of love and those cherry stabs đ
just admit you bought everything at cafege
You're not wrong
yeah
Why
Bruh
đ
I live in Oslo. How am I still waiting when it arrived 15th of August
these are the silicone vers right?
ok
basically
im so confused how the same company that sells the stupid stabs sells the v3.1's aswell
does anyone have like a rough estimate on when we are gonna get custom cases for the 80he
despite having that injection in the housing to help eliminate rattle with only a slight lube job
its so bad at rattling
more so than any other stab ive used
and its not like the sound of metal to plastic since theres the silicone inside
so stock
its mushy and rattly
tried everything
wires were balanced (tried them in a different housing and they sounded fine)
lubing only the housings, not the ends of the wires, grease on the just the wire, different lube jobs
the only way the rattle got rid off was by drowning it in grease and by that point it was mushy af
idk if i got a really bad batch
but it was almost like the wires they used were just too small or something because the assembled stabs just never sounded right
Less stuff interacting with your lube potentially, but yeah mostly a gimmick
Yeah thatâs about all I could think of, potentially less dust accumulating in your lube and getting sticky
Just feel like itâd take a long time for that to happen tho
And by that time, one should probably be cleaning and relubing their keyboard anyway Iâd hope
well, the only aliexpress listing is from kprepublic lol.
Unless you eat Doritos/Cheetos directly over your board and make sure to wipe the dust off your hands over the board as well.
lol
fedex is 10x worse
The thing with box stems is that when you press them down, the lube will stick to the sides of the âboxâ slightly. Which dust can then stick to so I really donât think itâs that much of a difference between box stems and non-box stems when it comes to dust accumulation.
bro wrote the aliexpress review lmao
box stems are much more stable tho right?
Yeah, a lot more stable at bottom out for most switches.
Thatâs the biggest benefit imo
the review is in russian originally too lol
not some anit dust or whatever
đđđ
nah, dusproof switches have some seal in the top housing that prevents dust from getting in right?
The main âselling pointâ for box stems is anti-dust
no seal or something
tbh I thought so too, but when I got black knights, it wasnt really the case
the switch is good tho
tolerances werent great?
with non-box stems, when fully pressed thereâs a big gap where dust can get directly into the switch housing.
the stem was just as wobbly as on jades
Thatâs not the case with box stems.
ah, but not as bad as lekker V1.0 right?
with the old injection molds
yeah these are insane
yeah, ever since gateron started their own tool and die manufacturing 2 years ago their tolerances improved substantially
Compared to the non-box stem from Grain Gold, definitely a lot less wobble on bottom out. Are you comparing to stem swapped Jades?
Black Jades with Black Knight top I mean
nah just normal jades, I compared them when I received black knights and I thought stock BKs will be less wobbly
Ah ic
btw I did take the black knight upper housings and used with jade stem and bottoms and the wobble almost disappeared, but sometimes these frankenswitches might be too tight đ
I pulled the trigger on the black knights, I hope they are an improvement over my very akwardly modded lekker V1.0
yeah and they sound lower pitched too overall so its a good open bottom switch imo
gateron and graingold used to get their tooling and dies from the same factory, although now that gateron makes their own tooling and dies so the tolerances are different which could probably explain the tight fit.
oh ic
i can say theyre the worst stabs ive ever used
unsalvagable
Yeah just different switches. The Raw HEs (also manufactured by Grain Gold) have the least wobble so far.
like u pay for the tech and it ends up worse than some random $1.14 plate mounts at the thing its designed to not do
đł
doesnt make sense
those are like, semi-open bottom right?
Yeah but top housing is a bit tighter. You can use them with any of Grain Goldâs box stems too to get the switch with the least amount of wobble while having no friction feel.
I mean, there is no leaf actuation mechanism so almost all the HE switches feel super smooth to me.
Thatâs kinda stupid đ, did they not test the concept at all?
I hope the wobble is just as good on raws as on these
should be easy to frainkenswitch too since BK and Raw HEs both come from graingold
Yeah, I meant that the stem swapped Raptors for example introduce a bit of friction (will lesses with use) and Raw HEs with a box stem not at all.
that is so nice, I had to do some really weird shit to the lekker switches get rid of that rattle lmao.
I guess tape modding?
Yeah, although only Grain Goldâs box stems are compatible with the Raw HE top housing. Only Raw HEâs stem is compatible with Raw HEâs bottom housing (box stems can work but out of the 7 I tested, 2 had a crazy amount of friction to the point where they werenât functional at all).
yeah, tiny tiny strips of cloth medical tape.
I need to finish my switch combination compatibility list
oh man dont even get me started on the tolerances of the switches, they were so bad
you can hear the housings creak when you wiggle the 2 halves
yeah yeah I've done that too, so time consuming
also funny that after a short while jades came out and I immediately ordered them cause they had closed bottoms, I really wanted that
yeah the silicone might help haha
I didnt get it because i unironically use DKS to get work done lmao.
Heyo modders, I'm home!
yo
the 3D printed switch films helped alot tho
So still wait for knight stab?
have anyone tried using gaff tape for tape mod?
screwins?
Ah found it, yeah gimme a sec i gotchu
0.16mm thickness was enough to make the switches tight enough so that they dont rattle
I wonder if I helped Gateron sell some Jades lul
Send an invoice their way
đ
@thorn zealot
I did it with my poron plate foam as well
but im using nothing right now at the moment
Same
tried 0.08mm and 0.12mm thicknesses and they both didnt work, these housings were super bad. maybe the tooling was on their last batch before being swapped or something.
Made it so my PCB fits better in my tofu for friction mount
yup
and it's easier to install and take out
I cracked my PC plate where my spacebar switch is when trying to remove it before cutting it
the poron I got seemed to compress without cutting, though it might've played a role in my friction mount being so tight I have to remove switches to get it out lmao
I dont hear a difference in sound anyways, it's just the outer keys, so cant say much
Thankfully it still works fine
yeah sounds about right
@harsh dove I switched my switches to south facing last night after spilling water
how could you
the RGB got dimmed like CRAZY
ok ok gud
tell that to Sanders
sad tho cuz rip ur raws clean white
yeah
does it feel any different?
nah
My phone enhanced it a bit but its really really dim
thats 100% btw
That's 100%?
and on some of the alphas the white becomes a bit orange/red?
prob the keycaps
so yea ill be switching back to north facing
in a few
I once switched to south facing and I started moving backwards in games
My 60he was my first keyboard you could even take switches out of without breaking it
hotswap?
Never had a hot swap board
ya
And my k95 seemed to have tried to make it so you literally couldn't even desolder them easily
what are the differents between the lekker v1 switches and the v2 switches?
feel
hmm
maybe sound

there we go thanks
wait I can't seem to find pcb mounted Pandas? did you mean plate mount pandas or do I have to look better
stem tolerance decreased by alot, resulting into a cleaner top out sound
i can't find anything about it
east facing supremacy
Everglide Panda V3 PCB Mounted Stabilizers. https://a.aliexpress.com/_EzaPYfx
Iso đ
These are not Durock V3s like the listing says.
wow, that sounds great
Most accurate AE listing as always. đ
actually keycapless đż
ohh nice thanks, they seem on cheaper end too
Theyâre very cheap yeah
i use an old razer cynosa chroma, which no longer registers the keystrokes correctly
now that I think of it, silver frog mini + alu plate + raws + transparent stabs might look great
hot take no one can see their stabs istg

keycapless new meta
think about all the money saved by not buying gmk sets xdd
That's why I wanted to switch to a mechanical keyboard, but the 80he takes a long time to be delivered
Worth the wait
oh okay, wow
There's something that wooting teaches about that school doesn't, patience
itâs not about seeing, itâs about knowing.. đââď¸đââď¸
Yeeee
Just the keyboard market in general
People with their bakeneko knowing it has imperfections be like
I'm waiting until December for my X-rays to arrive đ
Tru
RIP
Shits driving my mad and it's still august
why? second batch?
My bday on Dec, finna take it as a present mue eheheh
Yeah
my frog might arrive only in like late septđ
Yeah
the only thing I donât like about Xray is the fact that they opted to paint
shit was good without
better without imo
I hope mine wont have the issue with the paint sticking
u can try yikb's
and that too
@polar girder
Hopefully they actually let this batch dry
too wide đ
opted to paint? like they used paint for the white color?
what the freak
can confirm đŚ
i love those stabs
I believe they painted the inside of them
oh the bottom sides?
they painted the the keycaps where youâd see through them. Due to the double shot
Yeah
also quick question about the black knights, hows the factory lubing on them?
I'm just waiting for the Tamagotchi Keycaps
Theyâre interesting for sure but nothing crazy except for the design
can anyone help me my 60 he wonât power on when i have it plugged in i took it out of the case and it still isnât working when plugged in what do i do
just very unique stabs
Oiled up
hmm Ig it would be more interesting if you could see through
any ID on the lube or its just lube?
is the cable plugged on other end? dumb question but still đ
lmaoo yes
well its scary cause it shouldnt need anything to be able to start up
Have you tried with another cable?
yes
is the usb port okay? intact?
Seems like oil rather than a thicker lube like 205, itâs fine though.
might have to email wooting support
A bit difficult to see with this shit light
what do o even say i had to mod it so my warranty might be void
is it the module?
yes
it should still have warranty if modded
Can you take a pic looking into the port?
depending on what you do ofc
yes
ohh wait now that I look at it I like the idea of sealing those holes better, these usually bummed me on similar sets
Seems fine
Doesn't look damaged to me
And have you tried in different usb ports on your pc
I think they say somewhere that you can mod it and still have warranty, so it wouldnt hurt emailing
yes
Have you tried plugging it into a different port on your pc?
Never heard of it. Will check it out
oh lol
Then I would contact wooting support, nothing else you could do honestly
yes different usb ports
dont get yikb's
Wouldn't be worth hand lubing with my 205G0?
these are nice, I love the design and packaging, but they are too wide đŚ
Yeah I get it but I donât really like the execution. The paint is thin and not applied that well. On some keys you can still see through it. I prob will paint them more tbh.
personally tried squeezing them in
You def can, if itâs worth it is for you to decide. Some people like lubing, others hate it.
I don't mind lubing, but I only lube switches if there would be a noticeable improvement.
mostly care about smoothness and longevity.
this is just very upsetting because i waited a month for it to just ship
I havenât hand lubed mine so I canât say for sure but Iâd think the difference is less than with Jades or Lekkers for example.
Top out sound is pretty clean on Black Knights already
valid point
personally still like solid color sets so... đ
Do you have a USB C power meter by any chance? đ
I do like the sound, but sound isn't super high on my list of priorities, just want something smooth and stable.
Aight
tho actually pbtfans emma looks very very good, and it's also semi-transparent
I dreamed of a set with similar color, but got gmk taiga in the end
I've been burnt too much trying to chase sound lmao.
especially on this keyboard last year
lol ok
Yeah they look nice but also no silicone
I have stock screw ins right now. Just want to try muting effect of silicone
Still waiting for black knight stabs
wait werent you getting sw knights?
With your frog plate you can
I think TX APs would be good too
stab pads as well
i got it to power on
How?
idk it just turned on after i screwed everything back in and had it plugged in
đŹ
i still email
Still waiting for black restock
So Iâm bored and entertaining options now lol
Those WS 3.1 with the BK matching sparkle kind of crazy tho ngl
Ok yeah I should prob get these when I grab stabs. Good call
Theyâre a hit or miss but not expensive at all so good to try
I donât mind them tbh
Yeah worth a shot
I did not like that geon switch pad film thing
Basically tape mod to top of PCB all over again lol
Thought it was foam. Was not.
I think it comes with one of their plate iirc
Need
lemme check
Note to self poron XRD is not foam
https://a.aliexpress.com/_EH3MkCV @polar girder
case and plate foam are very diff
Bruh
Iâm aware
Geon PCB Switch Film is placed between the PCB and switch to change the acoustics of the keyboard. Geon PCB Switch Film Features: Material: Poron XRD, Slow Rebound Thickness: 0.3mm Material: PE, White Thickness: 0.5mm Material: IXPE, Black Thickness: 0.5mm Available in: 60%, TKL Note: If there is any interference, such
This is where I ordered it and got cucked
But whateverrrr. I do want foam tho
Like a switch pad foam
Is it not foam at all or just stiff foam?
Not foam at all
I donât remember what itâs called when foam has little bubbles
Itâs more like a plastic honestly
wtf
its those films that go fully over the pcb but under the plate
like ixpe sheets
yeah ik, I have them in my hm66 as well
but that is still foam
itâs glossy
but you can see the tiny âbubblesâ from the side
poron is better tho
Iâll take a pic/video when I get home
not whatever XRD means
@cold bloom hey man my salvation came in i was wondering if i could ask u a few questions?
or anyone with a salv in chat? just wanted to ask a few things on call?
I thought they were gonna look cooler mix and matching the stems
I need the dash stems now
IXPE sheet? or PE foam sheet
Wassup
inb4 the new jades have cooler colors
i think i installed it correctly
@harsh dove
Just saw some people not install the side ones
Yeah looks good and yeah you donât technically need the ones on the side
Says XRD
Idfk
Not helpful for me tho
Oh well
I am home rn visiting family, can't really do a call, but shoot me a DM and I'm happy to answer your questions there
looks pretty similar to the PE foam I got for my salvation from stupidfish but hard to say what it looks like up close
kinda shiny finish looks similar tho
Yeah I probably received what I ordwred
I just didnât order what I expected I guess lol
anyone recommends a specific keycap for gaming (what iâm tryna say is if it matter if the key cap is rounded or less grippy or does that not matter)
When I was restarting pc gaming after like 20 years on console these really helped to develop muscle memory. Put them on your most used keys. Then take them away after a couple months.
Does it have adhesive? Is that what the plastic back is for?
Can you peel the plastic off
Thatâs nothing like the switch pad I got or the one that I linked
Yeah I want squishy foam
Yeah Iâll try again cuz I was also curious
Doesnât make sense for it to have a different finish on one side
Is it squishy though? From the front side
If I have an opportunity to buy xrays should I????
For retail too
85 plus shipping
Do you like them đ¤
If so go for it
Whatâs an effective mod to thock/creamy the wooting besides switched
more tape
If you have stock caps and a white case Iâd go for it
no its more lube
No its no keyboard
dont be gaslit by big xray
u win bro
first it was big thocky ceramic
Nah it's more milk actually
then cool rgb xray

Okay more tape more foam and more keyboard
honestly biggest things are prob just switches and case
i think key caps are "cap"
barely change soundssss
case is nutssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss
Tofu60 redux is popular
i didnt lube my lekkers but what do you guys reckon would sound better in tofu redux and tape: tofu case foam or wooting original foam
because the tofu one is pretty thocky but I dont wanna change it out for no reason
Could do both?
Honestly like them way more than I thought I would, I'm usually not a fan of minimalist/clean style caps, but this one stands out nicely. Bonus is the shine-thru RGB feature.
MORE FOAM LESS NOISE
Didnât both fit for me
Don't
It wont fit and another thing you would be risking is heat building up overtime
could risk damaging your pcb
Although i hate using buzz words, creamy is mostly based off of the sound of foam and some sound modifier and acoustic foams. It also incorporates using other mods like tape mod and using PE foam (sound modifier).
naw ceramic keycaps r a pretty big difference
^
Actually they do
Terms of profile, material, and material thickness and all that yes they do
Great start off would be going with a neutral switch so smth like black knights would be great, some PBT keycaps with the desired profile with a good thickness quality would also be great, cases however would vary I'd say. Plastic does achieve lower sounds than aluminum but can always be done with both. Moving onto the foams and mods, I would use as much foam types as possible like case foam, plate, foam, etc. As for beginners I'd go for foams like the stock foam from wooting or polyfill and poron plate foam would be great as a acoustic foam for the plate and switches. Tape Mod personally would be a recommendation for this build, going from 1-3 layers would be personal based on you, I would try 1 layer at a time to see if which amount of layers you like (Keep in mind that usually after 3 layers there won't really be any change if you keep adding more).
Tbh it's kinda difficult for me to go back to PBT đ
lul
I can go back and forth any day, would just depend on design cus am a broki so don't got that many boards to play with
Why
why
Just feels and sounds off to me
how so
pbt has a place
Thick 1.7mm pbt for naturally higher pitched builds can help tune it down
Im tryna make my keyboard clack
Then don't use it

Really understandable at that point
me t h o c c
Shut up, you know damn well your board is 80% "creamy" and 20% "thock" based off what you said >:(
