As I don't expect Wooting to make a 4x12 Ortholinear/Planck PCB I'm in the imaginary planing stage of making my own. I would desolder a 60HE and solder on a custom PCB.
But what I wonder about is if there's some "witchcraft" involved that wouldn't make this possible? 🤔

The answer is simple. You'd end up with a complete non-functional board.

You need to rewrite the firmware and everything.

And since the standoffs had to move around on ISO due to enter key, the Module PC plate doesn't work on a stock 60HE PCB.

We're releasing an ISO 60HE stock version specifically.

Definitely cannot recommend the ISO PC plate on a stock 60HE, unless you're a mad scientist such as myself.

I used tape and foam pads to try and keep the otherwise loose backspace corner of the plate tied to the PCB, to avoid phantom inputs.

So yeah... that's why we need a separate PC plate for stock 60HE ISO.

On ANSI that isn't a problem. Plenty of space to do that, without moving the standoff that you screw the plate and PCB together with.

FYI, @fluid ravine , those keycaps are weird as hell. They almost sound muted. They're ABS but it's a weird textured ABS and I almost feel like the texture has a sound deadening effect.

Might just be the silicone as I'm not used to it. I usually go for poron but I got curious since silicone came with the PC board as well.

i can suggest using acutall electrician isolation tape, instead of cheap painters tape, youll get an insane deep thock if you use actuall electrican tape and dont need to buy a Pc plate

Little mod tip for people using a gummy o ring mount

If you feel your back space getting sluggish

It's your o ring pressing against the stab, that puts the stab at an angle and it binds.
Need to put something between the stab and the switch (the white part in the red circle) so the force from the o ring (the red arrow in the pic) gets transfered into the switch and the stab stays straight

Yes immensely, on the alu plate the stabs where a bit looser than on the steel plate and without a spacer the backspace didn't even return back up, on the steel plate it was just mushy

At 30-35A it doesn’t compress the stab at all so

Medical tape is thin and soft enough for it not be lubed. But if you're noticing scratchiness or a little tactile bump then yeah it's ok to lube it

the keyboard kind are pretty much the size of the board so it they dont stick out much

But might just wanna keep an eye out on the backspace, the oring is still pushing against the stab 24/7 over time the plastic will take a hit and it might start tilting, the plate mounted stabs give the o ring a lot of area to push

At first it was fine and over time I noticed it getting worse, might happen quicker on 50A but might happen sooner or later on 30A too

You could also remove the long feet and just get 4 corner feet, that should help too, unless the board itself is warped which I doubt
