I actually revisited one of my custom original 60HE builds that uses an aluminum plate and pulled the foam out from between the PCB and plate and I'm digging the sound. When the module comes out I'm leaning towards going naked and not using any dampening material between plate and PCB

that's a very personal question ... i mean, the problem with GMK is the ABS even if it is of really good quality, it's still ABS and in a couple of months you will notice the surface change if you are a heavy users ( if you use it daily for several hours )

Unpopular opinion: I like the feel of shined GMK keycaps. They aren't slick but are slightly tacky and I like the extra grip. Downside is that if the shine isnt equal (like if you use WASD the most) then you'll notice it when you look at the board.

which is a good and a bad thing cuz now all you hear is the magnets slamming into the pcb

but i don't think the bottom of the stem or the magnet actually hits the pcb

if anything it's the stem hitting the bottom of the switch

it should sound a lot deeper with the pc plate i imagine

Coiled Cables causes more resistance/latency, and are typically longer than 6ft. Which is not ideal if you intend to use Tachyon Mode on your keyboard aka 1000Hz mode for faster response times. If you don’t care about that, then just use a coiled cable.
But ideally you would want a straight cable that is 6ft or shorter.

i didnt put any lube on the tape personally

because technically the piece isnt placed on the rail but behind it

so it shouldnt really have an effect on the housing rail, only time it makes contact with the switch is when the switch makes contact with the top of the rail once it resets

i recorded something really quick, the only mods ive done was lubing and tape modding the switches, and i put switch pads. other than that its stock

in my opinion it did help the sound of the switch reset but the switches still sound questionable

its super hard without modding other aspects to get these switches to sound nice
