Do the keycaps feel worse when shiny? Like do you notice them being smoother or something.

The texture feels diff once it starts to shine, and it’ll look weird if only a few specific keys start to shine so I don’t recommend getting GMK if ur gonna game cuz you’ll be able to see that WASD shine after a few months

depends on the 60he? Yes, on the 2HE definetly no. If you can even find a compatible case you most likely have to make a custom plate for that case.

Not for Wooting, cuz the PCB screws into the plate, many plates are incompatible with the Wooting PCB. For both the 60HE and 2HE

If ur doing on any other custom keyboard it’ll work out well

Cuz the wooting uses a diff switch (hall effect switches), where other boards use a mechanical switch. Since the Hall effect switches are more sensitive, the PCB needs to be screwed down to the plate to ensure minimal up and down movement

at least it’s what I think

Also cuz the Hall effect switches aren’t held down to the PCB

since they hv no contact pins and a centre pin

the issues with modding the 2he is, that the 100% formfactor is not standardized, so every pcb every case has different screw holes, usb placements and differnce layouts. The 60% formfactor on the other hand is standardized and a lot of cases, pcbs and plates follow this standard.

I thought of it, but since the distance between the switches and the PCB could affect the Hall effect on the switch, I decided not to

I did try on a few switches since I had a few of them lying around as leftovers though, they seemed to work ok but I didn’t wanna risk it

also cuz the adhesive that sticks to the PCB makes it kinda scuffed :/

Agree. I did however use pe foam on the pcb, it has some effects on the sound to reduce it. Still going to listen to it once mounted in my Klippe T case, but it’s already working well.

We provide a lube for switches and one for the stabs.

Molykote for the stabs, Krytox for the switches. Durocks will work fine (I have them), but don't expect any real difference in feel or performance.

Interesting, I'd have guessed the poron would be softer and less and crisp sounding. Just goes to show that this hobby allows people to truly experiment and find what works for them.

Switches and stabs lubed, and rebuilt. Sadly had to take it apart again as the FB60 doesn't fit the wooting default cable. Going to file the opening and reassemble.

It's a problem with the wooting default cable. I'm sure another cable would work. I just need to shave a few mm off the side to allow it to fit. Also want to note that you can only use 3 screws to connect the PCB to the case instead of all 4.

The housing are pretty tight for most people so go with the thinnest ones that are the easiest to apply.

Calibration does happen on boot. So if you have slightly higher switches it will still work, but you’ll lose a tiny amount of range

The real issue is that pads aren’t hard so if the switch wobbles because it’s pressing on a soft pad it won’t read as well

Yeah it will work with most pads but as was mentioned, if the pads are too soft/thick and pressing the key changes the switch magnet distance because you're compressing the pad, it'll cause issues

Cerakeys delivered yesterday! They look great and takes some getting used to ceramic keys and the 'cold' touch they have. However, I do not recommend them if you love your Woot. I'm noticing that the ceramic will wear down the stems on both the switches and stabs and will no longer have a tight fit, so expect to put them on and leave them for good to reduce the grinding of the stems! I tested them first on my old Q1 with Golden Cap Yellows instead of my Lekkers and I'm glad I did. They make a beautiful build to look at, just don't expect to swap them often.

What material are your printing with? I don't think you need to have the brim around, can save you material

PLA - it's just a skirt, not a brim

I usually do it before starting prints to get the flow rate normal (from the nozzle being heated while creating the print bed mesh) - but usually i'd be printing something a bit larger

just my default setting, i'll turn it off once im printing a whole plate full 😛

Because PBT is a molding process, not something they can do to a keycap once made, like with ABS being lasered off paint and such.

PBT molds are VERY, VERY expensive to make. Very complex process.
So expensive that it took us several years to feel like it was worth investing into for just US, UK, German and Nordic keycaps. We still only offer French and Spanish? in ABS.
