Prusa is now on par when it comes to user-friendliness
But Bambu still wins on price
On January 16, 2025, the 3D-printer manufacturer Bambu Lab announced that future firmwares for its 3D printers would introduce an authorization and authentication mechanism for printer connection and control, in the name of security. The change restricted the use of third-party accessories and slicers such as Panda Touch and OrcaSlicer, and it g...
I know, that's why my A1 is still on old firmware and with no access to internet
seem to be more enthusiast issues
More like breaking the copyright law and GPL license issues
own nothing and be happy something something
I was eyeing H2D, but now I think I'll pay a bit more and go for Prusa
geerlingguy did a great video explaining it all
Bambu Lab couldn't leave well enough alone.
Resources mentioned in this video:

Yeah, now the only argument for Bambu is price, and even that changes rapidly, as there are even cheaper stuff on market
But 3rd party slicer support should be a must
It's like you buy a new printer and it tells you that you can only print documents from Google Docs on it, because of "sECurItY"
seriously, i'd actually sue them over it, either they give me my money back in full or they'll unlock it again, since stuff like that is actually breaking the contract you formed with your purchase
at least for those folks that got one of those printers before that nasty firmware update
Breaking the contract with purchase won't really stick in some courts
But violating GPL? Hoo boi
You're going to have hard time finding a lawyer which won't want this case
How do you only have 1 cable then
most lawyers i know take contract breaches very serious as well, but i might just be lucky then i guess
You aint lucky he was just wrong

On a related note - my coworker lost it when I gave him my ratchet wrench with anime sticker on it
Absolute gigachads Blender
They have accepted Anthropic into their partnership program https://www.blender.org/archive/anthropic-joins-the-blender-development-fund-as-corporate-patron/
When Anthropic wanted Blender to integrate AI into the program they went "yeah, nah, thanks for the money though" https://www.blender.org/news/upcoming-blender-development-fund-and-ai-policies/
They are making a mistake! There will be an AI powered fork coming up and it'll be a lot better, super-turbo-charged by AI!
its not as if anyone could make a plugin
plugin can be disabled though... integration in core blender now that cant be disabled
somehow better than the x870 elites in terms of 5gbe (I believe the elites typically use 2.5gbe)
im looking for a 4 dimmer white board but that does not seem it bruh
Idk gng it just didn’t come with the 2x2 cable
I have a fuckton of other cables
stop teasing me noctua
this definitely isnt a 1 month old video that i just watched
am i the only one who doesn't like that colorway? i would prefer pure black
the fans
they have chromax versions
for both the g2s now
i hope the aio releases on time though
the pure black is clean
wish they made a white variant
i hope the aio has a version with chromax fans, i contacted support but they said they cant say anything
so i dont have to buy them seperately
i'm loyal to arctic p12 fans, i've used them in so many builds either for myself or my buddies
if you buy them in the 5 pack they end up being around 5-6€ per fan which is insane value
no one with eyes likes it
I like it 😠
yeah arctics are very good value
read my message
i have eyes
Does your 2x8 not split into 2x4 & 2x4?
how many fingers am i holding up
anywhere from 1-20 if we're counting toes
or 0
wrong
The g502 is so ahh
Why?
Yeah i only buy chromax version
See the reason for the color is you shouldnt see them. If you actually want to use the fans properly you should have a low noise case anyway, and the fans shouldnt be visible.
low noise case shit
source i have a low noise case with low noise fans
better high airflow case with low fan speed (and then u get hit by electrical noise gg)
my low noise case is high airflow
what case u got
impossible....
torrent with some custom airflow padded airflow guides
do you hear coil whine
nice
what coil whine
from like gpu maybe
thats what im saying
why would you allow a device with coil whine into a slient pc?
i like having graphics
is coil whine more common on amd cards or is it just common in general
wonder if where im buying from allows that
long process
i got mine at brick and motar store
wouild take like 20 min from my house to store and back
didnt have that issue though
youre buying from somewhere that dosent accept returns?
wtf would you buy anything from somewhere with no returns
unless its like used in person and you can test it
if only noctua made thicc 180/200 id have them too
but the dynamic x2 180s move like 2x the amout of air at min rpm as the a20 dose full rip
so i just have it have one spin are min speed, and the second on kicks on when temp gets up
bottom 2 180s do the gpu that i pulled the fans/shroud off of and front to do the mobo and cpu, then out the psu
ok so it depends if the manufacturer thinks its a defect or something
coil whine is common so I dont think it counts unfortunately
you can return someting after you buy something for any reason
just say you didnt want it
then buy another
i just wish it didnt exist so it wouldnt be as difficult
its not that common
also if you are worreid, a actual sound isolation case can remove almost all of the noise anyway
i have a 3070 and it has no coil whine or atleast i cant hear shit
ok well i can hear a tiny bit, only when up close though
one of my cousins have a 9070xt sapphire and it has p bad coil whine
im getting a 9070xt too so 😬
i have 5070ti and 5070 no issuies
I have a 9070XT and can't hear any coil whine
I hope the same happens to me mark
But I'm old and partially deaf, so milage may vary
hahah you beat me to it XD

all im waiting for rn is noctua aio
but having a quiet setup is important as i use surround sound, so the noise floor in the room is my audio noise floor
dont have the benifit of headphones blocking noise
just put glue on the whining capacitors
that acutally works
silcone potting compound works better, but might mess with warrenty
yeah just get something thats not harming the hardware bc it would melt in regular use or so but oftne times it can fix it
I've taken a uhm 1050 ti apart surely I can take a 9070xt apart
even if i had whine, the padding in the ducts would kill most of it
some non conductive epoxy
yeah you need a quiet room and pc
plus be like 12y/o to have good enough hearing
now i have seen gpus with TERRIBLE coil whine, but its rare
My GPU gets funny when goes over 300fps
Time to make a script which will render specific amount of fps to play music on coils
Lmaoooooo
i only ever saw coil whine when having 1000+ fps on a loading screen
On my xtx
furmark was famous for causing it before the highfps load tricks got nerfed by nvidia
They already made that no?

Kinda eh, it's definitely a choice but eh, probably priced too high considering the feature set.

so for now best fh6 experience on pc is coming from using the xbox store lmfao
Makes sense they'd want people to use their own platform
you not gonna have the best experience with an amd gpu

who deleted the scam post before I could read it, havent seen this one before smh
if its not 199 and above 300 its a bad purchase
i do. i also remember where i store the replacement dlls for making it work till this day offline
installed linux on my computer again
Oh, you poor sod
wouldn't be surprised if it ends up being china exclusive
It makes sense to release it worldwide given current RAM situation
Easy PR win
OH WAIT, IT'S AMD
I never accused AMD's management of being competent
Let alone they never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity
So it may as well be China-exclusive release
why would they go for a pr win at the cost of margins
Eh, they can charge for it whatever they want, it will still be cheaper as upgrade than buying AM5 motherboard and DDR5 RAM
Just a question if it's worldwide or Chinese release
not really at some point people could just sell their ddr4 ram and pay a bit more to upgrade to ddr5
while you can get entry am5 cpus for 150, going for any ddr4 chip at this time only makes sense if its a really good deal
or even better a 250k plus for 199€ even with expensive ram is just a better deal unless the on platform upgrade is REALLY cheap
and amd doesnt own the fabs so they dont get to churn it out for cheap in volume
unless you already have 64gb
64gb of ddr4 is 200 used, ddr5 is like 2x
well since we are talking about x3d we're mostly talking about gaming
gaming is completely fine with 32gb
so if budget is the issue and you have a lot of old ram, upgrading at the cost of ram capacity is by far the best option
even with 32gb you gonna pay a 100+ more to sell your ddr4 and get 5
ram is fucked
well yeah we're not looking for a free ugprade but if it makes sense getting a new platform or upgrading to a 5800x3d
i keep waiting for the day I can install linux on my pc and actually leave it alone as the primary and only thing i boot
im hoping in another month or 2 i can sell my ddr4 eec and but a h200
and if you get a 250k plus for 199 a 5800x3d on aging platform with ddr4 at 300 doesnt make sense
well
idk if thats necessarily true
youd also have to get a mobo and ram for the 100bucks difference
no because the 250k is better, its not just an equal more modern option
(this assumes youre already on am4)
idk the benchmarks ive seen when it came out didnt put it far above the 5800x3d
the more modern the game the bigger the gap vs ddr4 platforms in general and its only going to grow
if you mostly play older games you will have less of a need to upgrade in the first place
spending the same amount roughly is not worth it here?
lol the ram alone costs twice the savings of the scenario you gave
and thats just 16gb
youd still need a mobo
well yeah the point is a new 5800x3d production run would only make sense if the price for the cpu isnt too high
and it makes no sense for amd to sell that at 200
300 is what i used as you used it as an example
thats 100eur youd save on the cpu alone. ram costs around 200-250 for 16gb ddr5
and the mobo costs another 100 maybe more
at that point you spent 200eur or more on top of the 5800x3d fpr 20fps
nah not if you sell your old one its barely a difference in price for a budget board, definitely not 100 more
well depends on what the goal is
maybe they had a high end am4 board
this also assumes you can actually sell the old parts for a good price
yeah I'm not assuming best prices but roughly what its worth
but above 300 its just really hard to justify even if you are already on the platform
if you cant afford ddr5, you dont notice
that i can agree on
and it doesnt really make sense for amd to be a charity and just lose money by making that for cheap
the am4 people can always hope that amd may be gracious so they all agree to let them build datacenters near their homes
and boom 250eur 5800x3d
because honestly if they release it at idk 350, people will think its a great deal and will upgrade when they just get a bad option and dont even know it, dont realize they lose out on faster web rendering and all that
doubt because packaging for vcache costs extra
but it's 1ccd + vcache vs 2 ccds
put a second silicon to the side costs less than put one on top
of course, if it's 500 like the original release it would be a waste of time
yeah hence its a possibility to get more stock but almost guaranteed to be a bad deal
I know it's just speculation, but I want to know. How likely is it that it will come to Amazon?
Im gambling all on that
cuz i have mi 5600x it would be a nice update
a 5600x is like the next best thing
so most times not really worth it going for that upgrade
In my case would be a huge upgrade
is it me or phone cases got worse
My previous phone had one that did nothing for the screen
So I ditched that altogether on my ThinkPhone
Probably
and screw otter box
They also used to be untariffed

Otter box may as well be framing your phone as a collectable
Damn that is wild
jeez these got a lot more expensive than I thought what
seems cheaper on their site
but then $20 usd with shipping probably be like 40-50 cad
yeah spigen like 20-30 cad
Pick whatever you feel most comfortable with then
Mous does do a lot of marketing as well
lowkey wish i got the s24 because of their corners s25 corners can be annoying sometimes

No.

there's plenty of printing services too
theres a 3d printer at work but idk if they would print this for me ;-;
Bambu are strange, the printer doesnt function unless a USB drive is plugged into it, even if you are directly sending the print via the network or the Bambu app ...
Just ask, and accept a no
Bet they wouldn't mind if you asked and said that you will buy a spool of filament - it's like 8~10€ for a 1kg roll of PLA
Im sure the guys in that workshop will print it no bother, but they might be worried about possibly breaking company policy over using work equipment for personal things
Every company has those, people in every company break those, and snitches get stitches
We are already breaking company policy in our own office by using DECT headsets 😅
Even our manager has one
Yeah - company policy is only to look nice at audits and in front of other corporate clients
we had an audit recently, we had to hide all our wireless keyboard and mice and those headsets the day before and swap to all wired shit
wired mice suck .-. the cable pulls the mouse cause the mouse itself is so light
I use my graphics tablet stand as a bungee, works nice
just use a mouse bungee
thats what these things have been made fro, to not deal with cable pull
We also got a bunch of wireless mice for handing out to new fulltime staff, which can connect with dongle or BT, but dongles are banned in our policy so we need to keep the dongles for them when we hand them out and dont mention it to the staff 😅
because dongles can be hacked... or some BS like that ....
So can bluetooth though .-.
okay that sounds like actually just a pain why not just use a mouse bungee if cable drag is the annoyance
cause the staff prefer wireless cause when they work from home its a lot more convient
and I agree tbh
well better hope its not a company dealing with important things and doenst get targeted if company policy in the place is just a suggestion lol
huh?
oh for audits yeh ... bluetooth is ok though which is why we must take away the dongles
no I mean that just sounds like a company where either nobody cares about security policies, or said policies are out of touch and not needed and should be revised
if we assume they are too broad because nobody would handle data thats relevant enough to be scared of someone intercepting wireless communication, then that should be changed so people dont get in the habit of ignoring policy elsewhere because they are used to not following it
Sounds like a company where board gave too much power to cybersec team, and they are power-tripping
well idk if its something financial system related it could make sense
but either its overbearing and making the actual security plans worse, or its needed and not implemented well
The wired headsets we currently use cause bsod every single day for random staff
We are testing new wired ones in the office and they seem to fix that issue
They are also cheaper than the other ones
Windows doesn't like the control buttons on the cable ....can't handle it and panics and just BSODs

OneUI is still so ugly IMO
wtf cursed heaphones do you use that they cause bsods
that more sounds like the pcs are broken tbh
no its the headset causing this issue xd the controls along the cable to change volume and mute the mic are the issues, the BSOD dont happen when we gave them these new headsets to use that do not have any cable controls
how does this prove its not the hardware that cant handle it
windows bsod-ing from perhiperals having normal buttons seems extremely unlikely
the only thing i can think of is something driver related but most headphones use a standard microsoft driver
or they did some shitty pc "optimization" and the in line controls do an api call or something to a file they deleted
you can used windbg to find out exactly what caused the bsod and from there it'll be a lot easier to diagnose
o installed via winget, would need admin permissions, hmm but maybe worth a shot
ya
can also get it on the microsoft store app if you can access that instead of winget
but i think you need admin priv to run it
probably
you do
the store is blocked on our windows build
well, if you have a store app bundle, you can install that by double clicking the file, those weird msix files
it opens a little tiny app install page and you dont need admin for those

How important is it to have a good size case for the 5080 TUF? Mine barely fits .. can that cause an issue?
as long as the cable isnt squished by the side and bet you'll be fine
maybe it will be a bit louder if the case isnt having good airflow but that should be it if it otherwise fits
I wouldn’t say it’s squished but 85s def pressed against the glass
ehh gotta see for yourself then if you think you're fine or if you'd feel safer since the 12v connector could cause issues if theres stress on the cable and that moves it on the connection
as long as airflow has somewhere to go it should be fine, tho if ya may wanna get a new case for ya puppy
yea for airflow its fine, you just dont want to put stress on the cable so it ends up causing another fire
Idk what’s been going on but gaming and when I have twitch on my game stutters a lot ( valorant ) and I don’t remember it doing that, I think it started when I switched to a new SSD and replaced the old one( the old /newSSD did not have my windows it’s just for games )

As long as it fits you're fine. Ideally you'd want some extra room for airflow but as long as you're not directly overheating it's not really an issue

doubt it since thats just on the rog ally or the xbxo store version
also not a thing on jedi survivor yet I think
They added it to rdna 3/3.5/4 with the latest preview update
yes, for the xbox store version of the game
which makes it less likely for people to be using that
Aha!
🐧
Glad to see more brands support it 😍
Pathfinder only uses web software, but I have been using it with my Framework 16, no issues
gosh frameworks are so cool
How do you get this SFP+ out?
I really really need the Framework 13 Pro laptop 😍
personally I think one needs a good laptop instead
The cult of Framework needs to be studied
i dont use laptops but my dream one would definitely be that
What about their Desktop?
im just building my own pc rn so
Aha
and pricey especially cuz of VAT
it is very ironic how the fw desktop is the least modular thing even less than a regular desktop lol
anyone else have a Framework?
yeah lmao
tbf what could you really do

yes
yeah ig
Have you heard about the CEO?
What is this hardware called?
probably one of the ayaneo handheld if I had to guess
or other chinese oem handhelds
they are often in limited batches so I assume cost was just different when they made that batch
i see a ton of cachyos glaze is it actually that good
its okay, decent recommendation for people since its not breaking as easily
i want something that uses terminal quite a bit cuz i need to learn it
everything can use the terminal if you want to
Arch smile.
you can do everything on windows on powershell
true but something that sorta forces it
cause if theres a way to not use terminal for downloading something i probably would do that
You need a CLI to install Arch and to get a desktop.
im not installing arch yet im not very good at this lmao
i do eventually want to try arch though
once i get good enough
I mean.
But yeah just about everything will have GUIs.
there is no good os choice that at times randomly forces you to use cli
I kinda wish this had OCuLink...
I hate Linux sometimes
Wayland pisses me off, I got rustdesk working via relay and sunshine but no matter what that won't help me with the login screen
Use windows for a day and you will be happy again with linux
*use what you are less familiar with to reaffirm your preconceived opinion of it
this is stupid
so much shit just so i can auto login and auto lock the screen because its the only workaround
Im done, until wayland fixes this bullshit
Windows has legitimately been getting worse for a long time.
and still has things linux cant do and vice versa
Random drivers are the main things.
I've been using Windows and Linux for a long time, mostly Linux but enough Windows to see it getting worse...
I'm done
I heavily and I cannot stress this enough, HEAVILY rely on remote control and Wayland simply does not allow that.
Usually when I need my desktop I
WoL > connect over VNC > login > desktop
This simply is not possible due to Wayland.
I've tried rustdesk and sunshine but sunshine won't work because I need to login first, the only workaround is using autologin which simply is not accessible.
I did read about running a script to auto lock the screen on auto login but that's an absolute bullshit workaround I don't want to do.
Also why can't Microsoft make something like kde connect, it's dope.
That's something I haven't done too much with, I'm sure there's a way I just don't know it.
There simply isn't
I've spent hours upon hours
X11 was the only way but x11 is unusable for me
And outdated
Can i ask about keyboards in this channel? Or is there another one for that
probably best to ask in #💬│general
FUCKING FINALLY
lollll
is that a preview build or a production build?
Preview
This won't be on stable for like another couple months
Possibly in 27H1 next year
yeah
The notification / calendar popup still doesn't move
That's permanently on the bottom right
ah
How's it taking months to add a feature that was already built into the OS 4 years ago?!
Never understood how people love that
I like it
Brings back my precious vertical screen space

Mark might find this interesting. Goes into logistics and transit 😄
Taiwan has 23 million people. Yet it has three long-haul airlines. All profitable. All ordering new widebody aircraft. All flying to North America.
The UK has one. Germany has one. Japan, five times the population, has two.
The most misunderstood aviation market on the planet explained.
0:00 Why Taiwan Doesn't Make Sense
1:50 The Family Feud ...
TLDR; Fun inheritance fights, perfect geopolitical geography for transit (and of course semiconductor export)
what i find kinda funny is that literally all taiwan folks i know always go on and on about how they're not part of china, yet one of their airlines is called "china airlines"?
Taiwan, Republic of China. Confusing though when two countries name share like that
Communist cosplayers and Real China Island
The airline originates from when Taiwan was the exile government of China. So it makes sense in that way.
Before they decided to give up on that dream and be their own nation (very very very oversimplified)
These days new companies will likely use Taiwan or Formosa to stand apart
I never understood people that don't auto hide the bar
It's so much wasted space
hyprland better
Felfuuu
ya multiple monitors make it tricky
Even if KDE is as stable as my mental state
Haiii
It's great on a laptop tho :D
This year KDE crashed on me only once
Ever since they moved to 6.0 a lot improved
To be fair I abuse the heck of it at times so I'm not even surprised
Question - what kind of RJ45 crimper should I get?
My Chinesium one is shite and close to dying
the other day ma bazaar randomly changed the /usr/ to /app/ and I almost lost ma mind trying to figure out why it won’t just open
Whatch out this one is for western poles
got pretty much worthless over the past 1-2 decades, might not be the case for everything, but in my experience most of the stuff is only more expensive while ultimately being the same or even worse quality than stuffs from overseas by now
yeah this is nothing new
alr
emib is something intel has done for a lont time, 99% of these recent posts peopel make comparing it to tsmc make 0 sense lol
like, almost none of the cowos vs emib comparisons make sense
because almost always they are not used for the same sort of thing
I used multiple monitors with tiling wm for a while I didn’t find it especially problematic
workflow improved enough that I just ditched the second monitor all together and just do single now though
I have a question about keycaps if anyonbe experienced can teach me something?
#🔧│keyboard_modding and just ask the question dont ask to ask

RJ45 Western plugs
theres non western ethernet plugs?
Hi, guys, I need your help, I have 3.4 max actuation point (geon raw he), I want to setup hysteresis, 1.4 actuation point + 2 mm to activate rt and 0.1 to deactivate, but regardless of settings when I push button down It always activates, if I up 0.2 mm It deactivates but after if I press to bottom It activates again (but I set 2 mm to activate rt, It have not to be activated) It looks like I have bottom deadzone, but I dont want to use It
It was developed by Western Electric, that's why
lol, ok. that explains
is there even a difference?
i could never tell for example whats different on AMP ones compared to WE
They are almost identical, AMP ones are supposedly "high performance" and "heavy duty"
And, obviously, you need a different crimping tools
In the end like 99% of connectors you can find are WE, so
idk i crimped both amp and WE with the same tool
at least how i see it they both just press the pins into the bare copper
You can, all the difference is that you crimp in 2 points instead of 3 (this black bar near contacts)
But AMP insists that you need their tools to crimp properly
oh i see
Is this good it’s for a friends build
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/6NBfPf
his budget is 5K but he wants a AMD card
Part List - AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D, Radeon RX 9070 XT, HYTE Y70 Touch Infinite ATX Mid Tower
oh sorry didn’t mean to respond to u
gaming I assume? get a 9850x3d, liquid cooler if he wants, personally I'd prefer an air cooler, otherwise yeah could get a 5090 instead with that budget but still solid choice and can upgrade next year then
Es
he doesn’t want nvidia cards
You can save like $100 on a lower cas latency ram
Since x3d doesn't need super fast low latency ram to get most of the performance benefit
if its strictly for gaming i'd go 9800 or 9850 x3d
You mean higher latency?
Cas latency doesn't matter on am5 anyway
Yeah higher
Why not?
is there any video on how to replace switches for the wooting 80 he just bought lekker tikken medium 90 pack
probably meant as in he doesnt like ai
Not anytime soon
rdna5 and its sometime next year, probably towards the end around to launch together with consoles
https://x.com/DylanOnChips/status/2056369825883042016 also really funny, another project spun out from intel that ended up working better on tis own and gets used with amd lol
New feature on Intel spin-off Cornelis Networks. Its CEO, Lisa Spelman, told me that the company's upcoming CN6000 products could see bigger traction because it will be "part of the go-to-market" strategy with AMD for the chip designer's EPYC "Venice" CPU and Instinct MI450 GPUs.
xd both are ai companies
Lowkey wish YT would separate the music and regular YT algorithms
YT music feels good with the algorithm. Wish they’d just tinker it better and add more “topic” songs so albums are in full instead of having to find user uploads.
There’s more they could do to expand YouTube music, making it feel more unique and distinct. In its current state it feels more akin to a reskinned YouTube for music content.
That's what it is because they were required to spin it up for the record industry
what do you mean?
The story goes
Record industry: "hey Google, give us more money than YouTube makes or we sue you into oblivion"
Google: points to spotify, "how about we pay you the same amount spotify does on any YouTube video that has your song in it"
Record industry: "sure but you gotta detect all our music"
They pretty much had to have everything in the same system because of that
That’s silly
Why could the record companies sue YouTube?
Was YTM only made because of this??
Because there was their music all over youtube
Yep
so.... youthube only charges more because they have YTM when in reality it isn't even a separate product
You can get YouTube Premium without music, but then you get ads on any video that has a record label song on it.
wait is this new?
Somewhat
so since YTM is essentially a reskinned YT does that mean google/youtube wont really update/make itwork better over time
Depends, now that they have the separate sub, if a lot of people buy it, they may invest more
Absolutely incredible showing from sony this gen, photo camera beating all but arri in video
YT and YT music being basically the same is the reason it'll probably never get lossless
even when spotify has it now along with exclusive mode
Be me, having yt premium and deezer at the same time :/
I'm YT prem and plex self hosting
and thats just an R series camera, imagine what their newer hybrids can do
Hoping so because lowkey If I were to pay for premium I’d want a good experience for both
Only 💸
yeah sony cams are expensive
s series is dead 🙁 but also s series hasnt been a DR monster, s is cool because low light, but it couldnt beat the iv in DR
compare to the others on that list fam, definetly a value play relatively speaking lel
Does look like a nice camera, but come to be expected with new Sony releases in the alpha series at least
Little out of my price range that one though
true that
the OG alexa has been the baseline forever (2010!!), a photo camera being the first non arri to beat it is not expected at all
now tbf arri did release the alexa35 years ago, but arri is in another world
Also because there are 3rd parties holding the standard up extremely high like IMAX and Dolby.
Like there are very few cameras that are actually IMAX certified because they have a very high standard for the certification
yea but its not an instane standard DR wise, just gotta shoot more than 4k, and shoot on an area larger than standard 35mm 16:9
first cam on the list that can do that is the vv and its in 4th, the alexa35 which is industry standard doesnt meet it and its much better than the sony
oh hmm gfx100ii isnt listed even tho eterna is
gonna be some other qualifier to prevent photo cams from qualifying
Yall got any good quality black clear keycaps i can put on my 80he thats coming in?
sony sucks
yall does anyone know how to make these output nothing when using gamepad instead of 50%
they map to left and right trigger on the switch ://
pretty sure thats now how those axis are supposed to work they are supposed to be at 50%

Why people be like this ;-;
I ask them for logs, they send me what Claude tells them after sending logs to it
Makes it even harder for me to debug
gotta burn those tokens to look productive
thats where you just answer smth like "i will be awaiting the arrival of the log files to diagnose this issue"
When AI does the thinking for you it enables you to stop thinking for yourself.
“but claude told me”
Kind of interesting but of course this has been said for every new invention like calculators, computers etc but stats showed we never got dumber, but actually smarter
And recent studies are showing that, for the first time ever, we are getting dumber
Not just young people, but older people in contact with ai too
Calculators, computers and such were not inferring based on data like LLMs do
If calculator was doing 2+2 then it was 4 and end of story, same with computers
Meanwhile you can gaslight LLM enough that it will tell you any result you want
Yeah
Is it strange for me to reject AI?
I only rly use it for translating text
I used to let it write small snippets of code when prototyping but I've noticed it's like a lost puppy even the good ones are at best mediocre
I used to love AI but now idk, it's kind of a big whatever for me
I only use Claude when Google is hell-bent on focusing on one keyword and gives me shite results
So basically as a search engine
So you don't really reject it then
although I'm sure I'm probably overgeneralizing, part of me can't help but see AI use in programming as an indicator of lack of competence on the user
Last time I needed something translated was 6 months ago
i mean depends on what type of ai your talking about
the reaction of the open source ecosystem to AI commits has largely demonstrated that AI code is of exceptionally poor quality, and so my first internal thought when someone mentions using it is not that they are capable enough to have found a way to make good use of it, but that they aren't competent enough to see why it isn't good
so I just assume they're incompetent if they say it's good
I think it's has potential to be a good training wheel to consult but if you need to plan out the skeleton of the software and do all the seniors job, tf do we need it for
If its to replace interns and entry level devs, then what it really does is hurt the job market and make the job of seniors more unbearable
I don't care about that
I care that it's shitty code
preaching morality to people who don't have it is pointless
A hard truth is most of the time you will be dealing with shitty code beacause some people can't wait and need something implemented now
AI or not, there is not a singular developer that will never encounter something outright diabolical
But it is quite funny to see a thing feed so many style guides write subpar code
if you are bad at coding ai will make bad code if you can code well you will be able to use ai well its simple as that
AI is great for writing tests
Beacause you can just dump them later they don't matter
And i don't feel like making those yet having a way to test stuff is nice
if you think ai can write good tests then thats the same as saying it can write production ready code
otherwise the tests would be bad
LLM's are good to use as a tool imo
Personally from my experience trying to code with AI I realised I would rather just co write my stuff x3
That was my main experience from that little experiment, beacause despite knowing so many languages, being built to understand me and somehow knowing how to code it seems to make some odd choices to say the least
would also be best to have specific agents for specific tasks
don't one shot it with vague instructions.
make small changes.
One of the best uses for LLMs is to do a sentiment analysis on posts, it's extremely good at it and it can be very useful
That's the thing I wrote out the critical logic and most of the software leaving just functions with todo comments and explanations in doc strings, guiding the robot to do them one by one and it was mostly miss not hit or miss
which model?
I don't rememer now it was provided with jetbrains I used to have a licence from uni
Decided to give it a try bc someone alleged being able to pass their whole exam with it
if you speak about some age old model yes thats likely not how a current one works anymore..
Example of a recent sentiment analysis I had the clanker run
if you give them enough context both claude and codex can spot and fix the edgiest of all edge cases that would take a human days to track down
Maybe I'm gonna give it a shot again then, I have a cool idea and I wrote the design docs at home I could string the "skeleton" in two evenings
What model should I try?
since november last year or so, they are good enough for most tasks.
and have gotten better fast.
anthropic sonnet/opus, newest chatgpt, composer 2.5
composer is cursor only afaik, based on kimi 2.5. pretty decent so far while significantly cheaper
i find each model likes to be steered differently, but once you figure it out it's really powerful
I remember friend of mine being able to pull almost entire scripts for fivem from those clankers that's why I gave them a shot
https://simonwillison.net/2025/Jun/6/six-months-in-llms/
small recap 🙂
that post is also close to a year old now

the pelican test he does is so stupid but so funny
is there any local model worth me putting my 7900xtx to use or is 24gb of vram still too little?
qwen 3.6 has a 21gb model that should work
https://huggingface.co/unsloth/Qwen3.6-27B-GGUF
any of the q4 ones. probably the biggest one is best
cool i'll play around :)
you can run this in lmstudio to have an openai compatible api or even anthropic compatible api.
most tools work with one of those api formats
or run llama.cpp directly
yeah last i tried i did llama.cpp directly and was uninpressed, but it was ages ago in LLM terms
this time i should put the gpu in my server and have some nicer hosted solution for it
too much help for picking the correct one if you're interested:
https://unsloth.ai/docs/basics/unsloth-dynamic-2.0-ggufs
man if only the 5090 would've been a tad bit better in gaming I would've probably gotten one before prices exploded and could now have more vram
running into an issue where my counter strafing causes the keyboard to keep me moving in the same direction after releasing. Anyone know how to fix this? I changed the actuation point and it still happens
oh ffs youtube amde its layout shit again

browser bug? works fine on edge browser
maybe another one of youtube's classic a/b tests

new Lifetime Plex Pass will price increase to $749.99 on July 1st (from $249.99) www.plex.tv/blog/new-lif...

waow, that's quite a jump
surely this is a late april fools joke
TRIPLE? wtf
Holy shit
Damn the ram prices really got to them eh?
Lmao i got plex lifetime got $89
Holy shit they are trying to compete with roon
Roon pricing: $12.49/month billed annually or $14.99 monthly. Music software with rich metadata, discovery & audiophile sound. Start 14-day free trial today.
I simply didn't believe it and had to check the link for myself
Wtf
I got mine for quite cheap holy shit
They probably make less money off lifetime subs tbf
And want to discourage it
then they shouldnt offer it
they could also always go a lifetime license but limited time support license setup
where you basically then renew support every year or such
Are there USB-A ports in a meta quest 3S
Yeah that's the unraid model
its the sensible lifetime model imo
you want support (or priority support) pay up otherwise figure it out yourself
Kinda sick of the jellyfin comments though
It's just not that good, period.
Device support is iffy at best.

should I order tech from Germany or Netherlands if I want access to a bigger market ?
I remember Netherlands having A LOT of tech and I mean it makes sense they own the biggest port in Europe, on the other hand Germany is Way bigger
I love Louis
Dang I got my Plex lifetime for 75 usd
Lmao where did you connect to
Can't remember, let me check
The plexamp desktop app hasn't been updated for months now
Enshitification settling in
I don't give a shit if my email is on the screenshot lmao
too late already signed you up to 37 hot singles in your area trackers
My Plex pass is being used for hardware transcoding even though people rarely transcode on my server
So I suppose it's serving 10+ people, definitely got my money's worth
If I was going to use it now I'd probably use jellyfin instead, I hear it's pretty good now
It is and isn't
My plex pass is mainly for the plexamp features
Device support is still so meh
Gui is meh
That being said Plex fucked up royally with the new overhaul
I love open source but like, design is always second with apps like his.
And you have to rely on people to make client's for it which just sucks for anything other than android, windows and Linux.
Run jellyfin myself, works fine for a couple at most, only issue is sync play is a bit glitchy and I really should get a better server to reverse proxy. But don't think plex has better sync play either.
Also never used it on anything but android windows and linux. Still would love something with a more reliable sync play option, that's the main use for me.
No prefect solution in the self host space
Plex despise multiple issues does just work
Management is easy
Setup is easy, cloud sync is very nice regardless of servers and despite it being a very known and acknowledged issue I haven't had a bad experience with downloads.
I generally agree but the plexamp desktop side is lacking
The plexamp on desktop is a weird android/mini app
Not a full desktop app
So i mostly use the plex desktop app for exclusive mode listening
Which if fine but doesn't have all the nice features that plexamp has like when I use it on my phone
WAIT WTF PLASMA DESKTOP HAS A COOL NEW FULLSCREEN SETUP GUIDE NOW THATS SICK
It's a shame Wayland sucks
Blame most of that on Nvidia
And Gnome
Wayland devs cant fully implement shit properly without baking in many janky hacks to get Nvidia GPUs to work with it
Not novideo's fault this time they can't be bothered implementing remote desktop (that's the complaint, right?) support that works 100% reliably
My frustrations aren't with Nvidia
75% He recommendations? That sounds good
300€ max budget
Don't forget to update the UEFI certificate on systems that use secure boot, guys and gals. It expires in October this year and needs updating then, some does it automatically (via Windows Update) while others need a BIOS update to either update it or enable updating it.
Check under Device Security.
If you don't have a secure boot section, then it is disabled in BIOS.
If it says anything different than below, it is either not updated or is the process of updating.
80HE is 2.5% bigger but good
"that sounds good"
Mod it
I'm not a billionaire
Gt-80 is like 150€ for me with shipping + switches, plate, foam whatever 🙏
"300€ budget"
200€ 80he + gt-80 already tops that
Get the plastic case and put some nice sounding switches in it and mod it over time when you have the money (if you want to)
I stopped caring about keyboard sound when I realize I'm wearing headphones 99% of the time at my desk
Yeah I'm just unsure about the 80he because built really isn't it stock and the PCB is not worth 200bucks
Just hard to justify the price for it when some Chinese 70€ thing Sounds 5 times better
I mean it's also feel and stability the lekkers are very shaky
Keychron K2 HE is a 75% layout QMK wireless keyboard with magnetic switches featuring advanced TMR tech. Now in a premium concrete body - a masterpiece with striking aesthetics. Connect the K2 HE with up to 3 devices through Bluetooth for seamless multitasking across Mac, Windows, and Linux.
get the concrete 75%
Its concrete baby
Oh it should still be good for gaming though like latency wise forgot to mention that still a good recommendation
Did anybody here have both the zinc case and the gt-80 case for the 80he and can tell me which one he thinks is better and why?
Is it made of real concrete
If only
But why do you ask in a wooting discord then?
Same i have an anc headset so i cant even hear it
Because most people in here care about their peripherals more than the avg gamer so I thought someone might know some ball and could help me out
Arent there plenty of universal keyboard discords though?
So i want to buy a wooting keyboard but like good performace but cheap
the case is
any suggestions?
Refurb or 2nd hand wooting
2handwooting?
I did ask around other discord but most Peripheral discord I know have the sameish people and community so I get the same recs
I just tried to get a different opinion yk
where can i find these? i dont see the website
Yeah only 2nd hand even then you have to pay quite a bit
Marketplaces or whatever
Idk see them for 100€
ok
Which model?
60he
He+ for around 140
Zinc 80he for 170
Modules for sub100 on the 60he+
Yeah that's great especially for Minecraft
Since when are we talking minecraft 🤔
So?
The guy asking about the keyboard seems to mainly play Minecraft
So?
Maybe the person is just on some Minecraft servers
Yeah idk how this is relevant
i have a friend who is on a million mc discord servers, only plays marvel rivals
Zinc 80he for 170? Hmm
Yeah seems like its in a good state too
I was just saying that a 60he as a assumingly first Hall effect keyboard is more then sufficient for mc and a more up to date model is not necessarily needed then
Looking at his bio and servers we share it's pretty obvious he will probably use that for Minecraft
It was a side note nothing else lmao
I always got taught that to assume it makes an ass out of u & me
170 what? Cannot see a 80 zinc for 170, it's like 240€/$ if I am not mistaken
I'm pretty confident on those assumptions
Ohh I thought it's about the outlet store, my bad
Cool, i can’t care for them though
Good
I would pick it up if i didn’t have one already
Buying off site risky as u dont actually own the kb in case something were to happen
Oh dear. Gmail redesign
New vs old.
Kind of ironic it is pushed on my personal account, but not my work accound.
What? Warranty is transferable
Yeah but i wouldnt say its a risk as you know beforehand when you are buying it/informing about it etc
It's a gamble, but a fairly good one. If you ask ahead of time if they can help with moving ownership, most will likely agree.
The only issue I had with secondhand is explaining what transferring means
I don’t hate it actually, maybe if it was like the old one but did the blending of colors it’s be better

Sure we'll see many big companies fall and restructure.
We'll see many companies be bailed out*
eh i dont think necessarily bailed out
i mean why would they even be considered to get bailed out
Billionaire friends watching each other's back
i doubt theyd bail out friends in an industry thats dying to the point the big companies start to fail
alright ill look at those
