Cause Steam only officially supports Ubuntu...Ironically enough, since they havent updated that to include SteamOS
SteamOS is based on Arch.
Yeah, but if you go to Steam;s website, they only say they offer support for Ubuntu
and only offer deb packages to download
Yeah, I don't think it's a huge issue. Ubuntu tends to be a pretty early OS and past that people will more or less understand how things work.
how to get your phone taken by a cop 101
Oh yeah this is a super bad idea.
Ah yes officer, here is my unlocked phone that I am showing you I have too much personal information on. Please take it and look though it because I am giving it to you so you no longer need to meet a higher level of scrutiny to seach it.
why would you unlock it for that, you can show stuff from the wallet on the lock screen
Can you?
yeah when I use it for entry tickets or such I dont opent he phone
I guess they could just not do that for the license and then it would be needed
on apple at least, idk what android does
uHM didn’t think about it like that
(That's by design)
Yep no wonder it’s not offered in my state lol
Though I do think some sort of national ID system where your card has some sort of FIDO thing in it would be very cool.
you can technically pin a app so they can only access a single app without unlocking the phone
that's a feature android has
They can scan it, nfc it something
I don't want my phone to be close enough to them for NFC to work.
For a bunch of things, but there is also a good chance you won't win because cops have way too many protections right now.
I'm starting to get upset at this project again. .-.
what are you doing?
Parsing C#/CIL PE files.
I can't seem to figure out the correct way to parse the TypeDef and TypeRef tables.
The official default gnome shell theme does not properly support an official gnome shell feature
🤦♀️
its not meant to be misaligned like this and plenty of third party themes already fixed this
lets create tech here where we keep our pets alive forever🥹
Can I send a link in here?
I'm trying to type up a Google Doc, and would like some help parsing through errors, and the sort. If you'd like to help, feel free to DM me or reply to me. Thank you.

quick question
any1 with a gpx2 having stutters in league after the latest firmware update?
on 8k polling rate, whenever u move the camera in game it drops to 0 fps for a millisecond in random increments
don't use 8K, even the best CPU might struggle in certain games
cs2 doesnt stutter, league does
i think the games engine is just crap it doesnt support 8k its too old
ill keep it at 1k then for league
classic riot games spaghetti code
but at the same time, do you really need 4k/8k for mobas?
I've been using my GPX2 in 1K this whole time
truth be told
loving the battery life
u dont need it for mobas
2K is enough to give that smooth feeling
but for cs2 it helps with tracking sure but even that can be argued, its way better to have it for mw3
if you want it
i can feel the 8k in games like cod where u track a lot and apex
yeah
in cs2 i think 1k is fine especially if u play at lower game resolution its not that important then
flicks and peak-a-boo shooters less so
ure right
in mobas its important at all
ill just put it at 1k for league
well anything at or above 240hz will display the change
isn't there a feature where you can auto set polling rate depending on the game?
OBMM life
imagine 1K hz monitor with 1K polling rate
perfect sync
thats possible in 5 years id say
probably 2 years since we already over 500hz OC
valorant with a 6090
and a 10800X3D or whatever the new intel naming scheme
i9 19th gen
core ultra 9 285k
🤮
I wonder if OW2 1080p low with a 4090 can get close to 1000 fps
it reaches the 600 cap easily
Probably could if you could go past the cap
actually it's all CPU at that point
Mhm
Coming in 2036
A few years max.
zowie 1K hz 1080p TN for 3 grand
The bandwidth for a 1000hz has to be massive tbo
To the point where not even DSC can give a decent picture quality with current cables
DP 2.0/1 can do 10 bit 1920x1080 at 1 000 Hz without DSC.
That’s just not true lol
1080p1000 would be 62gb/s for bandwidth so you can almost do it with uhbr20 which is 80 but that theoretical numbers that dont quite work that simple
Isn't 1920 x 1080 10 bit 1 000 Hz 74.65 Gbps?
10bit should yeah I was looking at 8
uhb20 already has issues with cables being a max of like 1.2 meters to have enough signal
so yes we could have more but then you need to glue the monitor to the pc
easy with a single 24" 1080p monitor
I mean just because they are both bandwidth number doesnt mean it makes sense to compare something like pcie numbers to display cables
Isn’t 1.2m around like 4ft
It’s not that small
My desktop is sitting on top of my desk next to my monitor so it would reach fine for me at least
sweaty e-sport gamers would make it work
Wouldn’t work on my standing desk I think, didn’t measure it in detail
The VGA cable I use is 0,25 cm.
His nose is touching the screen
he can smell the enemies
What’s the deal with Arch Linux and Valve? I saw something briefly and cannot find it again.
Never mind found the article
Cool valve is supporting it
Winamp is in shambles

not even just that, take a look at the amount of spam issues
I think I'm gonna get a new Motherboard
It depends a lot on the refresh rate, 2k isn't yet at the point where you stop noticing improvement for 360-540hz especially. It's more than plenty for a 144hz monitor though.
2000/480 = 4.167
that means that every 6'th refresh (6x .167) there will be 5 instead of 4 polls of motion, so the cursor will move 25% further than usual
the difference between 4 and 5 polls is pretty large, it's better to have around 10 polls per refresh for the differences in rate (beat frequencies) to be negligable
I took pictures of this effect w/ 500hz vs 2000hz mouse on a 360hz monitor a while ago
on 360-540hz it's significant enough to notice 2000hz vs 4-8k (although i can't distinguish between those two)
I'm p. sure that people using 500-1000hz mice is one of the big contributors to many early reviewers saying that 360hz monitors didn't help much. They really do, but if you're dragging a window or turning your camera in an FPS game they're only as smooth as your input device and synchronisation to it. If you have the top picture or any configuration facing remotely the same kind of desyncronisation issue, then it's gonna look blurry and far less smooth than it should.
Cranking the update rate of the mouse to 10x that of the monitor was apparently the easiest way to fix it. This also only incidentally affects the latency, latency was not the problem and so the peeps saying e.g. "it's less than 1ms better" are missing the point. It's about accurately and consistently updating the system with the actual position of the mouse so that frames which are equally spaced in time while the mouse moves at a constant rate can all have the same amount of mouse motion. With e.g. 360hz monitor and 1000hz mouse, sometimes the monitor only gets 2 mouse polls before a refresh and sometimes it gets 3 so the cursor jumps around pretty erratically. If you crank the mouse to 8000hz then it's getting 22 or 23 polls per refresh, and the difference between those two numbers is basically negligible rather than +50%.
It's not really, because the monitor and mouse aren't perfectly synced and the difference between 3 refreshes vs 2 or 4 is huge. See above^
definitely want mouse at least 3x the monitor bare minimum though. 1khz on 360hz is really noticably bad.
another awful one is 500hz mouse on 144hz monitor. It's 3.47 mouse polls per refresh, so about half of refreshes it has 3 polls and the other half it has 4 polls. It's really unsmooth, and that has over 3 mouse updates per refresh.
as high number as possible before the decimal is important too 👍🏻
if you deviate from +- 1 poll from 3 it can be a big smoothness loss. But if you get 19 or 21 instead of 20, that doesn't really matter.
and IRL you dont get completely perfect ratios at all, it's always drifting around and having timing errors
i find this kind of thing interesting, stuff (math quirks) that is actually rather important but was not figured out at all for a while
now we understand it, there are research papers, and we can make A/B tests at home that are obviously showing the smoothness problems that we used to tolerate because that was the best we knew how to do
Haha yeah saturating 8k maxes two cores of my cpu sometimes
and it breaks osu!'s FPS limiter
definitely something to watch out for and a + for 4k, because benefits above that are very small and this sort of thing can hurt you more than it helps
yeah i set it off ingame, it does 4000fps but the limiter gets really confused with the mouse cpu load or something
80HE - volume controls, is there a way to adjust them to be bigger increments than +2?
Thats more of a OS thing than a keyboard thing
thought it might be, was just going down the rabbit hole of looking into registry editing
I guess those are default windows commands wooting is using
Do you know how to calculate the jitter?
So i had a virus like 2 years ago and 6 months ago i bought this monitor and used it on the laptop that had virus but ofc i deletet it asap 2 years ago so can i use the monitor to my FIRST ever PC and not a laptop ???????? Im scared BC i saved 3 years for it
Your moniter won't get affected
Its your laptop
No it was a trojan i deletet it nothing got destroyed Luckily
Then what is the issue?
If youre running a anti virus it shldnt be an issue
Your moniter is just hardware to stream for your PC thats it
It won't carry anything
Go on
Could you help me do these ram and thing in BIOS when it arrives ?
No
How do i do it?
Are you building a LAPTOP or a desktop?
Desktop
Whats your motherboard model
BIOS is just an easy update and thats it
Installing isnt even an issue
Ram installation is hardware
Nevermind i remember how to do it thanks
👍
Seems not only is there issues with the iPhone 16 range displays....but also that the magsafe on them is not strong enough and shit keeps falling off the phone
which is very bad if people lose the magsafe wallet accesory
It's on the paper (page 3) but it's pretty complex
Looks like I did not even need to insulate it whatsoever
that's a lot of lipstick around that cpu
is that LM on top of the IHS?
Yup
but why
Been running fine in the past week
I am just bored
And I did not have any thermal paste
But now I do
thats likely going to etch into the ihs or the cooler that it will make contact with, is conductive and depending on what LM and what cooler it is could do anything from staining it to making it brittle or such which is why it's usually recommended against
could be fine but means you should check quite often that everything is fine
With aluminum it becomes brittle?
Yeah people recommend a year or so often. Seems a bit too long of a wait
yeah would check after a month to make sure
well, I wouldnt check because I wouldnt use LM on top of the IHS xD but you know what I mean
Yup
The contact frames are all aluminum though
Hence the lipstick(conformal coating) nightman
This reminds me of why I absolutely despised maths.
well it depends on what LM exactly you use, idk what the mixes are in TG or whatever you have there
How tf am I supposed to read this
if i have the lekker 45 switches is it then worth it to change the springs to the 35 ones
preference
ok
and in regards to jitter, well since that's usually defined as average deviation from the mean the formula for it needs multiple samples and the sum of multiple items is written down with a capital sigma
and what the different letters represent is explained in the paragraph before
Gallium looks a lot like mercury, except unlike mercury, it really likes sticking to glass. It also has a very different and unique reaction, when it's added to aluminum. I've actually never tried this myself, and I think I'll test it out on this aluminum bat.

Hello SO i have a question with tech but not with tech
So i have this case and my desk has legroom on right and i want to have PC on right BC on the left i have cabinets i know i can turn so cabinets will be pointed the other way but then i will need to move my desk to accces cabinets what do i do ?
BC when it will be on the left it looks ass 2. I can’t see graphics card and other
Idk but it looks nice when i can see and what the point of glass case then
And like most of the build have it on right
You just go with what works best, which can vary
he could get a inverted case, like the ones that mount shi upside down
I don't like the glass cases.
I dont like fishtank cases
glass side is fine imo, you can check things like status lights or wiring without having to open it up which is practical
but glass everywhere just makes it a worse layout for cooling in most cases
if you want to see your pc while having it on the left, best i found is Thermaltake Core G3 ATX Slim, but it isnt tempered glass
im fine with a glass panel personally, as long as its not tinted and all around the case
example of a build in the case ^
or if you want something slightly better looking
you can look into the bequiets Dark Base 700/900
well he already has the case not looking to get it from my understanding
turn it upside down and wire up an external button
💯
if its still in the return window, the bequiet case can be fully taken apart and put together for your layout
Good day, sorry if this is a stupid question but can anyone please confirm the spacebar on the 60HE is 6.25U? Thanks
it is 6.25U
https://x.com/9550pro/status/1840286277029031956 intel really heard the complaints and listened, no more 2 gen sockets
at this point just sell cpus with a motherboard attached to it
they are going to change it for every damn generation anyways
Thanks for the help, just found it doing a search on here as well.
POV I want to upgrade my ram so I buy another motherboard with more installed (Apple method)
I'm all over an Asus X870-E and a 9800X3D when they are up for sale. My next big upgrade, Intel 14th gen is a joke.
noo dont say that
hm yea 7000 here is still quite pricey
my next pc will be so horribly expensive
🍻
i kinda want a new pc for mhwilds :/
If you can buy some things with money, they are cheap. Our gaming rigs would have been literally magic 30 years ago.
I played pnog on B&W TV when I was a kid and that was cutting-edge.
*pong
then paypal me 5k if its cheap :p
Get out from behind your monitor, get a job and earn it.
i have a job and i have the money, you said it was cheap 🤷♂️
I spent the last 50 years getting wealthy so it is cheap for me, sorry if you're experience differs. :p
cool 👍

not to be that guy but im being that guy rn, its your*
?
Well you can go shove what you want back into your fundament there my little authoritarian friend.
you're fundament
guess grandpa didnt take his meds today again

Extra hilarious coz they have decent gpu water cooling hardware, and they decided to use a hack job for their 4700 system
Corsair have never been high quality and more of an influencer brand. But shame they have fallen so low
prebuilts have some sort of curse laid upon them
only their psu propping turn up
they were in the 00s
but most of ya'll are probably too young to remember those times
Corsair should be eating EKWB lunch right now, but they are fumbling in their own way
used to be a very solid brand back when they pretty much solely made ram
Oh gods no.
Oh yey another prebuilt PC review
Let EK die a natural death instead of becoming part of Corsair's terrible water-cooling ecosystem
and psus made from seasonic designs
FR
hopefully someone else will try to fill EK's void
I meant eating their market share. People use the term "eating their lunch" alot on the stock meme reddit.

The whole BTF thing also just seems ugly
I repeat my former statement
Bequiet some how makes a similar case to what corsair did look nicer?
But at the same time bequiet is just chasing trends
Wish they make something unique again
I'll stick with fractal or lian li for cases
Yeah, I love to use the north xl for next build
antec's newest stuff seems decent
Lian li usually always does a good job with their cases
antec was great back in the 00s, had two of their cases
They are making a small comeback
only one I could seem some issues with was the a3-matx but the price seems to make those irrelevant
And GN reviews should add move publicly
I am pretty sure there are enough alternatives.
Is 4070 good
if u get the ddr6x one
its the memory type of the card
yes its good
but yeah overall a good card
Idk id super will get here
Big ol air cooler
air cooling is based
No.
ok how is it not a good card
whats good for him
Say 4060 is okay for budget gaming on pcmr subreddit
You'll be crucified
4070 good card, but 7800xt is a bit better and a bit cheaper
yeah a lil bit
but muh arrr teeee exxxx and deee el ess ess
well given it sounded like the card is already on its way the question is less about it being the best or a good deal
so if you get a pc coming and it has a 4070, is that a good gpu? yes
That's why I went with Radeon
(now we wait the odd reasons for why it supposedly isn't)
4070 might not be the greatest bang for buck, but its not a bad card by any stretch
Performance on 200-300 cards have barely improved this last decade
Nvidia will never again make such a mistake
i dont know why tho best gpu series from them
i loved my 1070
oh wait i know
AI bullshit
Exactly
10-series were so good that 1080 holds up pretty well even to this day
They'll never make such a mistake again
okay the 10 series is aged very well
but the age is there sadly
i mean i was thinking going with a 1080 ti
ehhh the 1080ti maybe, the 1080 was okay
ti was them fearing vega too much probably, the rest was a nice tech improvement+ node jump+timing within the console lifecycle
10 series is when they finally competed on vram as well
i mean those prices alone
Then they got scared for 20 and 30
if we would get a 50 series earlier this year and it was a node jump it would have been similar probably, price aside, because nodes are more expensive now
because of how broken 1080ti was value-wise the 20-series became a major disappointment in comparison
the 2080ti being a expensive flagship that didnt do much more exacarbated that yea
and then we got the 30 series with the mining incident
The 7900xtx handles RT fine tbh. Just have the game on ultra and RT on medium or select the RT effects that make more of an impact (i find that RT shadows is the one that matters the least to me visually)
Example Forza Motorsport uses RT heavily. i can get like 60-65fps with RT cranked of get 100ish fps with RT reflexions high + RTGI at medium which imo looks so fucking similar to maxed out i can't tell the difference no matter how much pixel peeping i do
I don't care about RT
Like is it as good as nvidia's RT? No but it's servicable
and im just waiting for my 7900 gre
Really depends on the game for me
Same as when i had my 2080
i tried RT i dont see the difference soo i dont care L
Turned it on in some games like control but tomb raider i left it off
All depends on the game
Some i can't fucking see it
Some i can
i mean i have like 10 games that has RT support
but i dont care xd
i tried RT on Control and CP77
not my thing at all
Metro Exodus is a game that Wowed me RT wise, same with control
the thing is i turned RT off on control and looked the same LOL
You're blind xD
or just i dont care about it
you said today that you don't feel the difference whether mouse acceleration is on so I can't believe anything you say
yeah difference between RT and no RT is huge

Then you probably won't notice the difference between the 7900Gre and your 6700xt.
Meanwhile amd also had to play catch up so it didn’t matter
if you can't tell the difference you're probably wasting money on good graphics cards
I mean you don't notice the higher settings lil
This
Rt is alright, but i personally dont use it in any game
To me it depends on the game
Some implement it well enough others poorly
Control is beautiful with RT
some of the RT mods for cyberpunk is just ludicrous
not today, OS wars aren't happening
Nah, it's another ridiculous and senseless discussion
I JUST DONT FUCKING CARE ABOUT RT AND THATS THE FUCKING REASON
there there
Same
malding
I got better card to get more frames in MH Wilds
i wanna play video games not looking around for pointless ray traycing shits
We're not gonna get more frame calslock
Then why did you buy a new graphics card? To play your games at the lowest settings in 480p?

can someone ban me ppls
Dragon's dogshit 2 all over again ):
i had enough of dashi fuck face
you dont need to question someones purchases or what they do into tiniest detail tbf
you can just block him
I like playing maxed out when possible. Shadows/RT max. Love how it looks.
But I only do it if I max out framerate at my resolution.
I don't care about maximum frames in all games, particularly not singleplayer ones
Coolio - still will get from somewhat stable 60 on high to perfectly stable 60 on high
I'll happily sacrifice frames in the hundreds for a visually stunning experience
No reason to go ultra really
Post-processing needs the most processing power and makes the game less readable
Don’t get why akko was so mad tho
Ultra is useless
If it looks better there's a reason.
In most games
this right here is my thoughts summed up perfectly
why? bc he is questioning everything that i would do so he is just a jack ass
Point it's not always the case
I'd guess because it's not the first time their decisions got questioned
Lol
I'm just a bit confused if graphics dont matter then why upgrade ?_?
Framerates?
I mean if they dont care for one part it doesnt mean they dont care about all the others?
All that motion blur, TAA, bloom, depth of field...
When done right it looks gorgeous, but more often than not it's not done right, especially TAA
Lower the settings?
That sacrifices visuals.
Even wukong has super noticeable shimmering
Wukong had epic motion artifacts when I tried it woohoo modern gaming!
Yeah, shimmering and it kinda looks like your GPU is lagging few frames behind
Fuck TAA
he said they dont care about RT and you went on to saying then the 7900Gre over 6700x doesnt make sense..which is just a whole lot of assumptions when the original message was just about RT
LM3’s TAA is actually really good
not caring about RT is one thing, not seeing an actual difference is another
Seemingly one of the few games that did it right
either its a hyperbole or he just doesnt mind lighting changes that much or whatever but that doesnt mean it makes sense to then assume they are literally blind
Overall im not buying a GPU for RT performance i dont care about it, i wanna get a better gpu for better performance over the 6700 xt in 1440p
Those lighting changes aren't worth halving framerate
Just frame limit and make GPU consume less power
i just dont looking for them so i dont notice the difference
if the RT is on or of
and lets assume he actually doesnt see a difference if shown the biggest differences in screenshots, still doesnt matter if he then would want to upgrade the gpu for toher reasons
in some games the difference is very subtle I'll agree with that
hence I think it's just an overreach to care about that part then
in others its like looking at two different games almost
- even if im playing a single player game i want at least 60fps so rt is not a thing that i want in games that i play
In CP77 sure the difference is only visible when there's TONS of lights on the scene
And even then it's more annoying than looking nice
Everything is drowning in light, game is borderline unreadable
i tried Crysis RT and it wasnt for me
And that's okay
May your future 7900GRE chooch as much FPS as she can
And some are too dark
As i said before depends on the game
i dont buy GPU's for RT performance and thats it even if the game looks better with it
its not for me, i dont care about RT stuff
Better is subjective
6700xt at 1440p ok makes more sense then
even if the game implemented it in a good way
I can see how you may struggle a bit in some stuff
Looking at you TAA
some of the cyberpunk RT mods are damn near photo realistic in how the lighting behaves
On a quality HDR monitor
looks absolutely insane on an oled
TAA is a straight up mistake
That is real hdr and not the cheapo crap
I don't have an OLED but my Neo G9 mini led looks amazing with hdr
When people talk about how epic Cpunk looks and yet all I see is motion artifacts and heavy blur.
i mean most monitors are using HDR10 anyway
fake hdr
Only epic in a static form
HDR10 is fake HDR

not that much blur in here
not much in the way of gameplay either but you can't tell me those outdoor scenes doesn't look impressive

Then thatd be #🎮│game
None of yall want my cookies
I see how it is
They're made with LOVE not poison
You didnt even say what kind they are
I can't cookies, I must lose weight again
HDR400 is where HDR begins to be the real deal, but then again, stuff like Windows HDR is bullshit on these monitos. All it does is making the monitor darker while running white pixels at its full brightness
at least from my experience
Just chew on them like gum
XD
it's especially obvious when you record a game that's not supporting HDR naturally. Restoring it to some natural colors is nearly impossible
I have gum for that
And I try to limit the meat and processed foods heavily
Well you gum ain't cookie dough flavored!
but... Pelmeni and Cheboreki and...
I can play Cpunk at pretty high settings and high rt and still like the performance.

Lime'n'ginger
just eat what you like but avoid eating too much, its as simple as that
Ok that sound decent
life's too short to deny oneself your favourites, yolo and all that
That's what i do
Portionning + it lasts longer
You get to enjoy it more
Sure, when I lose like 5 kilos and my weight stabilizes again
hdr10 isnt on scale like hdr400 it just means its a 10bit color standard
i mean there isn't much to know about HDR. 10 is fake, 400 is where it starts to be real HDR, Windows HDR sucks
hdr400 talks about brightness
and then there is hdr true black 400 and stuff thats newer
Destiny 2 has nice hdr
shame its still destiny 2
hdr400 and hdr600 are not great hdr1000 for the non true black is what you want

Like guys check this out
This is ridiculous
It ran at 90c from the moment he got the thing back then
no one saw my message ):
wasn't that i9 horendious
how did this not blow up
Yes and he completely overpaid for it

but its actually true LOL
i meant that its always been a portable heater

It would "shut off randomly" at times
you don't notice if acceleration is on or off?
I offered to take a look but he'd never let me
if the polling rate is at 125 or 1000
But now he needed more storage and he was like fine cuz he didn't have a choice
Literally woulda kept it like this if it wasn't for that
As soon as I booted up satisfactory I knew something was up with my mouse
at any polling rate the acceleration is obviously noticeable

Would rather leave something broken than have me help him
caught by surprise with the built-in acceleration?
His loss xd
i miss my pc being a heater fr
Yup
Turned that off immediately
wanna buy mine?
or mine than i have a reason to get an NVME ssd
heats the room quite well when pressed
i thought my new Sora v2 was broken or something until i checked the settings
Who in his right mind adds a built-in acceleration in their game?

that's basically in any game there is
Pretty standard games don't utilize all your cpus cores
well, some are CPU heavy, some are GPU heavy. There are only a handful of games which utilize both
maybe its because i havent checked much games recently
only started to when i upgraded cpu
Flight sim is pretty good from what I hear
im not a plane nerd
but i do find those plane incident-documentary type videos on youtube interesting
i mean my 5800X3D is pretty bored with most games while my 6800XT screams for help. The only games that go ham on my CPU are games like Civ6
It's really no surprise that the CPU most of the time is under utilized. One of the rare cases with a decent balance is BG3
i do play val/cs regularly but i also play ow2/apex/assetto a lot more often
so a gpu would probably be what i would want to look at
none of them go heavy on the CPU
My CPU
When working: 30~50%
When gaming: 1~4%

Roblox doesn't count as a game
either shortly before holidays or after
but most likely after at around February/March
i mean we just got the specs leaked for the 5080 and 90, which is quite late for a holidays launch
Time for a full pc upgrade me thinks once the new x3d and 5000 series come out
unless nVidia really doesn't want people to know and severely punishes anyone who's leaking infos
If you were curious he had paid 3400cad for the prebuilt in 2022
Completely overpriced even for the time
how does a 3080 ti compare to a 4070ti super
I told him it was dumbdumb
its ~100 more for the 4070 (ebay listings)
And msi couldn't even put paste in right for that price
fine temps for me
throws my 6800XT at 1.05 vCore in the ring
Ladies and Gentlemen, tonight we're going to see a fight between 2 distinguished gentlemen
If it doesn't for you you must have a pretty cool job
It's a game for embryos
go and play Forza Horizon 5. Climb THE TOWER

Roblox branched out a lot. There are 18+ games on it.
ive met a few people thats over 20 on the game but it depends on the game youre playing ig

Marvel games are way more childish than Roblox.
i wouldnt tell the difference if the roblox logo wasnt there
Wtf
yeah thats a game in roblox
Yeah that's not what my memories are of roblox
well, it's a fan project and not even close to its completion, but it is a real thing apparently
About 10-15% better on the 4070 ti super from what I see
But i remember learning LUA through roblox as a kid
Making little scripts
When i was like... 12?
that's cool
Now i see who's responsible for all the Cheat Engine scripts
i tried this, it was pretty poorly optomized but for what it is, it looked pretty good

It was a fun intro
i mean thats the engine
so many roblox games wouldve been good if it wasnt roblox
yeah
or they just update their engine
like what is even Ogre engine
theyre gonna end up calling it Roblox2
this is juicy
Radeon might be juicer and CHEAPER if i am not wrong the 7800xt comes in the same price range and is better . But i am not sure
the 4070 Ti Super is better than the 7800 xt
its more like modding certain games, AMD doesnt have as much support
Kinda true ngl
RealTime is finally merged to Linux
Almost 20 years ago we saw the beginning of the PREEMPT_RT patchset and even though it's been in use in industry for a very long time it's only just now being merged into the mainline kernel.

like a lil bit
I told you i am unsure
thats fine
Yeah
I wouldn't bid on stuff with stock pictures. Could be a scam
oh, im not planning on buying anything rn, just browsing
i mean thats why im looking forward to get the 7900 gre i just want raw performance
My friend buyed once a motherboard with stock picture and they send him an paper and a picture of this motherboard on it
😂
I felt bad but at the same time i was laughing so hard
He was hyped to build his pc that day
I helped him out and i gave him some money for new mobo
you can buy reviews for as cheap as 5€ for 100 positive ones and you can also ask ebay to delete the bad ones.
I'm always reading the reviews first and if they're written badly i'm avoiding these sellers
as 4070 ti super is waaay to expensive and out of question
- i cant use any cards with 3 fans

When 50series are dropping
?
next year
God damn so ill get my machine cheaper when ill have money
istg why is downloading anywhere other than steam limited to 10mb/s
Highly doubt many people upgrade from a 4070 Ti super to a 5080 or 5090 to begin with. Many people prefer the low to mid range instead of buying into the higher end of things
Steam download is broken. I got 500mb per second speed test but i can download max 30mb/s on steam
the xx80 stuff was usually considered enthusiast level and xx90? That's like those people who can shit money and want the best shit
thats not how it works and i dont remember how it does either
i saw a video about that topic
these speed tests are a short time test, so it's just a burst of data to test with, which is highly optimized to begin with
and not only that, these speed tests usually route you to the closest server too
dont mix up bit and byte, if and isp tells you you get a 1gigabit download you can see a max of 125megabyte/s on steam or anything else
to check on your ISP contract these tests are fine, but for any real environment tests they're bullshit
@dull hollow check your steam settings. Maybe you've limited your download rate or are downloading from a server that's currently struggling
@dull hollow where are u from tho ?
not downloading on steam, downloading from ubisoft
oh, ok, gl
oh yeah gl
There seems to be a display issue on the iPhone 16 Pro models. Multiple issues, in fact. Some, like me, are noticing that the display isnt sensitive and sometimes ignores taps whenever youre swiping or texting, and others are noticing issues when touching an area near the camera capture button. Both issues are not on the standard iPhone 16, from...
dont touch the camera capture button while trying to use the touchscreen
OOOOO can run MacOS in docker containers :D
"near native performance" i somehow doubt that having tried to run macos in quite a few ways
What do the mouse nerds here think about the customisable wireless mouse recenetly featurdd on Optimum's channel?
could be cool, not gonna pay $200 on a maybe
I wish someone made a high performance vertical mouse.
Just saw an AI powered baby stroller
That can drive itself so you don't have to ...
But it only drives itself when there's no baby inside
And it starts at $3700 ...
So why????
well this makes sense because when the baby is in they're the one driving

Y'all wanna spend almost 5 grand on binoculars that use AI to identify up to 8000 species of bird?
Could also read a book!
Or use google!
that's insensitive
Facts
I sear XML is one of the biggest mistakes in the history of programming.
I'm attempting to create an Android program and I added a button to the main Activity:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<androidx.constraintlayout.widget.ConstraintLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
xmlns:app="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res-auto"
xmlns:tools="http://schemas.android.com/tools"
android:id="@+id/main"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="match_parent"
tools:context=".MainActivity">
<Button
android:id="@+id/button"
android:layout_width="wrap_content"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:text="Button"
app:layout_constraintStart_toStartOf="parent"
app:layout_constraintTop_toTopOf="parent" />
</androidx.constraintlayout.widget.ConstraintLayout>
The problem is, it doesn't show up on the device at all. My onCreate method does not throw an exception from doing something stupid like derefing a null pointer and it successfully finds the button by the ID and sets the tap callback.
Does anyone have any idea what's going on here?
You need to declare each element you add into the XML at the top of the code for that activity and also add them to the constructor
Change the button ID to something identifiable in the XML you sent
Then go to the top of the code and type out "Button <button id>;"
That's not a constructor and findViewById(R.id.button) finds it just fine.
I am though, that's the thing. The activity shows up with the label on the top and I can interact with the button using code, it just doesn't show up.
I.E.
@Override
protected void onCreate(Bundle bundle) {
super.onCreate(savedInstanceState);
EdgeToEdge.enable(this);
setContentView(R.layout.activity_main);
ViewCompat.setOnApplyWindowInsetsListener(findViewById(R.id.main), (v, insets) -> {
Insets systemBars = insets.getInsets(WindowInsetsCompat.Type.systemBars());
v.setPadding(systemBars.left, systemBars.top, systemBars.right, systemBars.bottom);
return insets;
});
Button button = findViewById(R.id.button);
button.addOnClickListener((view) -> {
Log.i("CB", "Tapped!");
});
new Thread(() -> {
try {
Thread.sleep(1000);
} catch(InterruptedException ignored) {}
runOnUiThread(button::callOnClick);
).start();
}
Stupid idea
But maybe you need to set it to visible in the XML properties
No change.
I did try that one already. Man, Android is just cursed.
Yeh .....
I did pretty well in that class tbh
But mostly cause I already knew Java and I restarted if shit went wrong with the XML
Did you set the project to use Java or Kotlin ?
Java of course.
I'm messing with the P2P Wi-Fi junk and apparently my neighbors have stuff that supports it.
DIRECT-92-HP Smart Tank Plus 550
I could maybe print to their printer?
Got to print a page with a vague expiration date.
Write a page that says I'm here to fax you about your cars extended warranty
The developer website is super broken. 😔
I'm going to have to do some research into doing custom services for this.
I hate that my code works minus the button not showing up. .-.
Doesn't look too bad: https://developer.android.com/develop/connectivity/wifi/nsd-wifi-direct#java
I'll be doing this later.
No, I'm not going to use that lying machine.
Everything I was able to find online was about the constraints not being set.
I love how HP upside down just says DY
HP Stream laptop?
Yep xd
I get a lot of those at work.
Will Linux Arch try to push out more features to gain market share now that valve is funding them
AARCH64 when?
Which province are you from?
I'm with Freedom they are mainly Ontario based. I went in store to get the deal I got and had discounts because multiple family members on plan.
They weren't the best before and still don't have the best reputation now, but ever since they were bought by Videotron (a Quebec company trying to expand to the Ontario market) the coverage has actually been really great
Try to see what you can do because I had to wiggle myself into that deal, it is a lease so if you want phone at the end of 2 years you do have to pay the remainder of the phone.
For the 16 Pro you need a 55$/month plan and then it's 29$/month for the phone, but if you're willing to pay 200$ upfront (like I did) you can go for the lower options like the 50gb at 35$/month one. If you do the math at the end of the year you will save more money that way if 50gb is more than enough for you (it is for me)
There's a bit of bullshit, there's a 5$/month credit for 18 months so it'll go up 5$ more for the last 6 months (For every plan even if you bring your own phone) calling and changing plans worked for me despite being an active subscriber.
In store you also have to pay the 45$ connection fee and they automatically put you on an insurance you have to cancel after the first month.
But over the same plan Bell was giving me for 120$/month ON A LEASE, I was fine with dealing with all that
IDK if this is a standard now, but they also offer Canada/US/Mexico data coverage on all their plans
Yeahhh in my experience Rogers/Fido/Telus have not been that great with most people I know. Only people with good Roger deals work for companies that provide a company plan.
Bell had been decent when I visited them a few months ago, I almost bit the dust on a 15 Pro with them, Virgin also has very decent deal being the more "budget friendly" child company of Bell.
They just ask for an upfront if you want a lower plan, I paid debit it wasn't billed on my monthly bills
Doesn't seem like ill get it back
if i have 3 sticks of ram, should i put them in slot 1,2,3 ?
is it okay if i put in a different brand ram stick? its the same 8gb and 3200mhz
Fizz also is really good for the price in Quebec it's owned by videotron
Chat do I upgrade to a 4090 or upgrade my phone to a Sammy S24 Ultra
what's your phone
there is something better with the same characteristics?
Hello, a mouse for 80 euros (80 thousand Argentine pesos more or less) for clawgrip and another for palm grip? I need two, for palm they told me the pulsar x2h
I use the cooler master mm720 which is really good but it's from 2020 😅
palm grip x2h is news to me
it depends on hand size
scyrox v8 is a good x2h "clone"
I wouldn't go with just that
rjn doesn't have all the new ones
he mainly covers "mainstream" brands
I disagree but sure
he doesn't have the budget go-to mice, which is relevant here with 80 eur budget
anyways for claw grip, scyrox v8, vxe mad r major (has qc issues sometimes), atk f1 ultimate might be good too
scyrox is a subbrand of lamzu
I wish RJN would update his list. It's getting pretty old now.
170 bucks is a steal for an 240hz monitor 😮
only downside, is that its 24 inch, if u care abt that
I think imma get that damn ;D
and 1080p*
i have the 180hz version of that monitor; it costs 350 dollars here in south africa
and the really high end 700 dollar stuff has 1100 dollar shipping lol
@frozen ingot those type of monitors are for competetive players mostly so 1080p isnt that big of a deal
depends, beacause is different in € that in dollars
i only saying if there is something better

finally
guessing these will still be for sale in 10 years when my gen 1 stops working
chromax version planned for q1 too which is nice
so black fans for everyone hating brown
nice
Smh
They should wait 5 years for black fans
If you cant handle noctua brown you are WEAK
i like the brown ngl, my case fans are all brown ones haha
only $99 a pop?
Only reason i dont have brown noctua fans is $$$
same they're great quality and everything but too ricc for my blood
you can get pretty comparable performance for a lot less
#🔧│keyboard_modding will be of better help for that
Sorry! will go there right away
Not at all. It's just where the folks who mod hang out 😄
I wonder if you can daisy chain them like the t30s
i mean it does have slight ghosting issues and isn’t the best quality monitor
but for the price it’s good
This one looks good too imo
220 bucks
my little brother has it tho
and hes immortal 3 in Valorant xD
this one is better
depends on whether you want to spend the extra
i think imma get the Asus one tho
im still using an 144hz monitor smh
@molten lotus This one looks even better
and has 280hz even
with 27 inch
check reviews
i have an aoc monitor and it’s fine for me (240hz) but i’ve never had anything else similar to compare it to
All positive, I use an AOC monitor rn which is 144hz as I said, and I think its actually an big step in the right direction
wat dis
I'm testing the beta version... Is goood
Looks alot better than windows 11 tho
Windows 12 needs to look this good man i wish
I changed the icon theme in the light mode images
But yah
This is the file manager
So this is gnome desktop version of file explorer
It can't....
They need to have all the old shit on there too for backwards compatibility
So it could get a new theme for system apps and desktop shell
But older dialogs will still look old
Like how there is that mismatch in 11 still
I love papirus icons 😍
Especially the ones for file types
It does copy some UI design from MacOS
Mainly that the title bars include buttons related to the app
lets hope for no lawsuit lmao
Sadly GSconnect isn't updated for 47
To send these images I need to connect my phone with cable
It's not similar enough
And Apple didn't patent that header style
does gnome support vrr on wayland already?
Not yet
But Bazzite includes the patch for it
So if you use the gnome build of Bazzite, you'll have it!
I think the plasma build of Bazzite has it too but I haven't used that one cause I prefer gnome
Gnome hasn't officially implemented VRR yet cause they are still arguing about how the settings for it will look in the settings pane ......
They can't decide on a UI design for it .-.
I can confirm it works very well on Bazzite
And it shows the range that VRR is active for too
For my monitor it shows (60 - 165)

do you need to lube the beam between stabilizers aswell?
The metal wire? Only where they touch the stabilizer housing.
okay
because i was checking why the space bar sounds clicky sometimes
I guess its not the lube then
Ship already
what about no ?

wait for 5090 😅
which one do you want to get?
7900 gre
mmm so it's like a cut down version of the xtx?
its the actuall 7800 xt
i see, well depends on your os to be fair, i had terrible experience using my 7900xtx on windows
nvidia discontinuing the 4090 pre launch is a bad sign imo

it is yeah
what where do you see them discontinuing the 4090 being bad
heard this as well
no I mean that it's a bad sign, that's how every gpu gen has been, stop production to a minimum and ramp the next
regardless of how good or bad the next gen is
i believe it's mostly been a rumour, i don't believe it has been confirmed yet
oh yeah you will never get full confirmation of it
but it's been the same the alst 2 gens and amd had to struggle a lot with oversupplied stock due to let down in demand after mining and such
but it's weird that 5000 series are not announced yet and they are supposed to cease production of previous models already
no because ceasing production doesnt mean it stops that day
getting a wafer from start to finish alone takes like 2-3 months
mhm yeah fair
so if today they make the last wafer for main suppply, that means in 2-3 months its ready to be packaged and then put onto a pcb for gpus
so wafer start today would mean the product ends up on shelf in like january
because they're pulling the plugs out of the gaming division and plugging them into the AI data center/research socket. The shift isint from one gen to the next, it's from one consumer branch to another.
yeah no that isnt happening
ahh
Nvidia has literally said they're focusing on AI over gaming, not sure what you mean lol
Wafers?
you do understand if they dont make consumer cards then people would start making all the ai stuff on amd/intel and never learn cuda so then when they get hired to a data center they would want to not use nvidia?
It would be a significant upset for NVidia to exit the gaming market space, but it's not entirely inconceivable
of course they are focusing on it but they arent going to close a market where they have like >50% profit margins and use it as a building stone to get people entrenched into their garden
I'm not calling him a liar I'm calling you someone who doesnt understand what they mean with that
Just like AMD is now software company
Focusing on AI is not the same as exiting the gaming market
so they will make AI-RTX cards or whatever and gaming is the lower side at best
I'm not saying they're EXITING the gaming market, i'm saying they're moving the focus to where the money is. You guys are saying EXIT like they're going to stop making consumer cards all together
I mean... kind of 😄
but you literally said they are exiting
ah yes i want my NVIDIA GeForce AI-RTX 5090 TI
You might need to learn how to read my friend, i said pulling plugs, not exiting.
You can pull a plug out of something and there still be plugs left lol
Very much not literally
so they reduce spending?
That's not how that term works in English, friend.
but that changes nothing and isnt how these words are used
They're ramping down production

To cease. Not cut down on.
Instructions unclear, pulled the plug from grandpa
I literally didn't use the idiom "pulling the plug", i said "pulling plugs and moving them to AI" as in moving resources
what does pulling plugs mean then
Trying to invent new idioms isn't going to save your massive L. Just saying.
it's almost like it's implied that it refers to.. pulling the plug
I'm not inventing an idiom, im literally saying moving resoruces
you did in fact not literally say that
If you have 5 100 gig cables going into one server and move 3 of them to a different server for bandwith, you've moved capacity
My job literally deals with this real life situation, i dont know what to tell yall
Sure - But you would never refer to that as "pulling plugs" in a conversation that doesn't involve literal plugs.

arguing semantics aside, that changes nothing that what nvidia is doing since it's the exact same thing they did with teh 20th and 30th gen cards
they stopped making the 3090 before 40 series released
they stopped 2080ti production before 30 series came around
and neither times was related to AI
now it's the exact same
I do wonder if they're going to be pushing as hard with new specs, now that AMD have basically said they won't do high end GPUs going forward.
i really wonder when are we seeing 5000 series being launched
you ramp down production to make the newer model not keep the current version in stock and collect dust, that's basic production 101
if rumors are true early 2025 for ngreedia 5000 series
the cards haven't been officially launched yet right?
currently CES seems likely for all 3 vendors
or announced rather
nothing public from any yet
Frame generation 2, temporal boogaloo
better than AMDoodle
in what ?
DLSS, Frame Generation, Raytracing

akshually! FSR frame gen is superior to dlss FG because it takes less render time
(but either frame gen is still shit to me)
Agreed, frame gen is still quite bleh
i am tho
but alot of ppl are for the 5000 series
it's silly calling either option the best when aside from the 4090 that purely depends on you local pricing of the options

and most people dont buy a 4090
i got a 4070 Super
i mean im happy if i can buy the 7900 gre
7900GRE looks interesting but imo Nvidia has the better things and more developed things
those two are the same price and if RT/dlss is not a factor I'd argue nvidia isnt the best flat out
i just play video games soo dont care
it's quite close so mostly depends on local pricing which one I'd call the better option
Mhm, local pricing is a huge factor
also always gotta keep looking at what games you play, something like RE4 or AW2 are much more important to me than cs2 performance at 1440p
i mean yeah the 4070 supers are cheaper in Hungary but not with a huger price difference
nah okay they are the same price
Frame gen is fine if you have over 70fps imo
I havent been able to like it under anything than 90 whenever I tried it
and even then depends on the game most I dislike the latency still
I can’t really feel the latency difference when using a controller
Never tried it with mouse and keyboard myself tho
might explain it, I hate controllers, I'm so shit with them lol
still play souls games with is usually but I just die more often, when I played sekiro it was too bad and I switched to mnk and game felt 10 times easier
Yeah when it comes to single player games, I mainly use controller
for me not all games are great with a controller
racing games for sure
FPS never ever
Yeah definitely a game-by-game basis
Half true
Really enjoying ff16 on controller
Some games literally have almost-cheating aim assist for controller
Does apex still have that?
i think yeah
anyone who uses aim assists in a multiplayer game even with a controller are literal fucks
ff16 is nice on controller but also nowhere near a sekiro level difficulty

my gpu is getting more and more expensive
