Oh, new CRT?
Degaussing time
Headache time 😢
If I use a CRT for more than like an hour or so, I get a bad headache from it
CRT whine is way worse
Thankfully you can get used to it in like 10 minutes or so
It takes most of my desk in depth.
no shit LOL
Shouldn't be any audible whine.
Whine frequency is very high depending on how you drive it. Like 30 kHz+.
And I can't hear that.
CRT monitors maybe no, but CRT TVs yes, PAL TVs whine at 15kHz
Eh, as for 22" is not that thick to be honest
My 19" TV is way worse
@wheat plume After 24h of using it:
App works really nice, translation to Polish is a bit wonky, but works fine
Screen is beautiful and crisp, also detects hand movement really well (unlike my old mi Band 7)
The only pain is that there's no NFC and you can't start timer and minimize it, it has to run in the foreground and with screen turned on (which is weird, because you can do so with stopwatch
)
Strap is really nice and soft and crown thingy has a satisfying haptic feedback to it
ooo I love that watch face too
hows the BT connectivity and media playback controls?
No issues with BT, media controls I haven't tried yet
i like the watchface
There are several faces with step counters on them
whats the 21?
seconds
Yup, 400-something by 400-something
Looks really good even up-close
Mi Band 7 had this annoyance where even on lowest brightness it was bright enough to blind you in the night .-.
It does
ayoooo, does it work good?
Pretty well
Yup
I don't have a VGA cable so I can't use it. But then again who has a VGA cable anymore.

seems you were fully unready to get a CRT XD
every other office
^ maybe a local company could give you one
Keep in mind you won't connect GTX 10+ and R3xx+ to it, they don't have analog processing unit anymore, you need a converter
GTX 9xx was the last one with DVI-I, GTX 10xx have DVI-D only
I still have VGA connected to Thinkcentre/proxmox node, my monitor has VGA, so why not
VGA is cool. I am a big fan of big connectors.
'member DVI?
(DVI feels more outdated than VGA for some reason)
I still use DVI to DP adapters to connect monitors to PC
Dvi is huge
I see your silly screw in VGA cable and raise you one SCART
Ah scart. Never a thing on pc thankfully
Those always felt so sloppy to connect for some reason. Maybe the TV we had just was too loose.
MAnSeN is digging up a scart connector on pc now
these all speak facts
I'd be more likely to dig up some weird Mac connector cable from the 90s.
Shit was wild.
gaming's not been restricted to windows ever since proton came out
I have not had a single game I couldn't play because I'm on linux for the past 5 years of running it exclusively
it's rather the other annoyances that irk me
It is if you play Online AAA games like Fortnite and Destiny 2 and Helldivers and COD and whatnot
but yeah, everything else is golden
Helldivers works
ah I suppose, I don't play those so I never experienced it
Helldivers works?! HELL YEAH !
Apex and Overwatch 2 work also
Apex runs like crap in Proton though ;-; its a stutter fest on Deck 😢
Overwatch 2 performs AMAZING though, constant 165Hz when docked for me
Used to at the start of the season, now with patched Apex and Proton it runs nice again, stable 180FPS on PC
patched?
Well, Proton Experimental
Whenever you see these fake retro horror games with CRT and VHS filters I always think about how there are probably a ton of gen alpha out there now that believe games used to come on VHS.
Tried to play Apex on my Deck, docked to my monitor at 1080P and it barely managed 40FPS
on lowest settings...
Ah, on Deck I was happy to get 60fps on lowest possible settings on 800p
It runs ok in Handheld mode but its too small of a screen to really play the game
just cant get over how well Overwatch 2 runs but Apex runs like garbage, on the same computer xd
I just really suck at both of them...
Overwatch runs on proprietary engine designed specifically for it
Apex runs on Source patched with duct tape
Honestly? It's been so long ago I don't remember how a snes looked in a crt tv
.....Apex is Source?!
So.. Fast :p
Yes...
If its the same engine as Titanfall 2, it should perform extremely well on Deck like that game does
Well, with Titanfall there wasn't so much duct tape there yet
LOL
They probably also added more demanding features / geometry
Apex has several years of constant patches and seasons in it, no wonder it works... um... yeah...
And now, when there's almost no one there from the starting team, and they focus heavily on milking this game...
EA .-.
EA can do good games, and they proved that countless times
It's just that their C-suite is greedy af
Engine alone also doesn’t matter much for performance in the end
If it's not glued together with duct tape
Not to mention source was hardly ever made for a mode like apex in mind
No engine is
Well you have cases like doom where the engine is optimized for how the game is planned to be
When you know the area sizes before you can take big optimizations if it doesn’t need to work with open world at the same time
Eternal is a better experience than 2016 performance wise
Yeah and the engine got some changes between xD
Ah, I still remember the unholy abomination that Raven Software did with id Tech 6 for Quake Champions in early access
Indeed
My point was just just source being good matters little since it was an engine primary made for the games valve had in mind and a Battle royal wasn’t one of them. So just having that as a base isn’t an indicator of it the game should run well or bad
yes... yes it was
Having 100 people in an open world is vastly different from titanfall singleplayer or tiny maps with 10 Cs players
Oops forgot about you :p
my first pc had a TV tuner card with dual scart out and dual cable in
60
It'd die trying to handle 100 people
🥚 case
Yes xd
Love when the task bar sinks into the bezel.
(I'm letting it warm up a bit before adjusting these things)
Why did you get a CRT?
Because they're epic.
||Primarely motion clarity||
I love it so far.
Although I am not quite used to text being this blurry yet. It's gen 1 W-OLED on drugs.
Yeah for CRT you really want to turn off text antialiasing
Also feel like I have to puke. If that's because I haven't eaten anything today, the screen or a combination of both idk.
Oh yeah true. Where is that setting again?
Or at least make it be grayscale only instead of trying to do fancy subpixel stuff
cleartype
just write that in the search bar
uncheck that box
I think getting grayscale text antialiasing might be preferred since all modern fonts are made with antialiasing in mind. As to how to get that on Windows? I have no idea!
I see cybersecurity is still having a blast https://arstechnica.com/security/2024/07/secure-boot-is-completely-compromised-on-200-models-from-5-big-device-makers/

tl;dr: some manufacturers shipped private keys from test environments which were labelled DO NOT TRUST and DO NOT SHIP which got leaked and affects quite a few mainboard vendors

Probably they saw DO TRUST and DO SHIP
Strong Sony energy
Also uh Acer,Dell,Formelife,Gigabyte,Intel,Supermicro
thats the list of vendors
funnily enough supermicro being a server mainboard vendor...
google is funny, unveiling their own phones long before the event lol
:') You think the leaks are actually planned by Google?
With how accurate the leaks are, and the Google-like design for the images....Id not be surprised
hmm at this point i have no clue
i don’t think they care about the event date anymore lol

Is this mmd?

yeah, most Vocaloid videos are made with it!
Did you make the cow go oooom?
oh yeah xd
Sadly usa never made a port.
I had to play the game iにほんご
Things were not ぢあじょぶ
Pixel Fold?!
No
Oh, what one?
SSG Z Fold 5
oh neat!
Id love to get the Flip
I prefer that form factor than Fold maybe, unless the Fold 5 with the mostly normal ratio outer screen changes my mind
Its convenient when showing people pictures and not smashing my phone close to their face.
Id be too scared to get one, this house is mega dusty
I let anything with a screen sit on a table for an hour and it gets a layer of dust on it.....
yeh ;-;
So far Ive used the large screen at the store, drive thru restaurant, and at the post office.
Also when I have to show people at the restaurant what I want to eat.
How to prevent dead skin and dust from getting stuck to keebs.
And body oil.
Kinda impossible to stop it all, embrace it
Clean the house :p
its cleaned very often by mom, shes addicted to mopping the floors and washing the windows....then making me mow the lawn outside despite it having rained and the grass still being soggy .-.
but hey, its her lawnmower, not my problem if the soggy grass breaks it
You live in a spanish household?
no
Ah ok then. Cultural assumption. In my style of household all the kids share the cleaning then mom yell at us xD
I spent most of my childhood summers going to the house my uncle and aunt rent to tourists cleaning it after each group left
Thats how I learned that strong artificial smells make my lips and nose feel really dry and chapped ... fucking perfumes and surface polish especially
xD
My mother and grandmother were addicted to candles. And scented soaps.
I used to always get given out to for not wanting to do the furniture polishing
I couldn't breathe in my own house
ikr.... it sucks .-.
I like nice smells, but most perfumes are horrible smelling and way too strong
My wife is forbidden from applying perfume before or in the car
Good... xd
When I was younger, our householders used to smell like a retirement home hospital
When I open the pantry, I get blasted by ungodly sense.
The house we used to live in constantly smelled like cow shit and moth balls...
Unfortunately, the snacks were also in the same compartment as all of the cleaning supplies
....ew no
That's exactly this smell.
It smells like dying old people
oooff...
Bram, the worst I ever want to smell like when I get old is laundry detergent contin
We dont even use scented detergent here, all my clothes just smell like mildly moist air from being outside on the line to dry
I'm allergic to fabric, softener and hang dried clothes
, I tumble dry my linen
And my family is allergic to using the dryer
clothes we wash can take up to a week to get dry depending on how much rain we get cause we dry them outside when its not raining and have to bring them back in once it starts to rain again .-.
I always got to make sure I have a weeks worth of clothes that are clean at any particular point in time just incase we cant get the ones we washed dried quickly
the dryer in this house has been unplugged from power for the last like 5 years, its so stupid that we dont use it
Can someone give me the website, because idk if I have found the right one (Wooting)
You guys also wash dishes by hand?
YEP .-.
I got this one https://wooting.io/
This sound like Filipino house xd
Yep, thats the store, Wootility.io is the software
Or Malay
Thank you guys. I just wanted to be sure
Is Wootabase still being updated?
The old website? No. But we're working on something new.
Ty
How long is the cable? Because I have my pc on the floor, I wast wondering if it will able to reach my computer from the table

Anyone tried any beast x mouse? the two im looking at are Fabulous beast x Vs Beast x 8k
Mouse names are really cringe xd
Glorious, Fabulous Beast, Beast X ....
Sharkoon..
Sharkoon is oldschool
Bing bong, yee hee
my wooting is not being detected by my pc. i tried to update it earlier because i have not used it in roughly a month and i might have abruptly stopped it in the process. the rgb turned off and my pc cannot detect it when plugged in. i tried to nuke it but it didnt help
Make a thread over in #1019755933959733258 🙂
yummy
Jesus Christ by all the gods in hell that thing is microscopic
does the uwu keypad come with a usb C to usb A wire?
It does, with 1.5m one
new mobo for the 4090 to plug into
if i had to get an adapter for the usb A part to usb C cause im out of ports which adapter would you recommend?
wtf
More like a Motherboard to plug INTO the 4090 😄
A veritable daughterboard.
jesus
love these
looks like my pc with the case taken off xD
but i has founders
Next GPU might as well come with a CPU Slot.
and a flat ram
you mean a new mobo to plug onto the 4090
why the screen so big
i bought it from microcenter
the question isnt why big its why so close
agreed
spacing is important so you can see the whole screen while gaming
for me i like to see my status bars within view
maybe a monitor arm would be nice
more for posture and eye health
run with it or yeah get a monitor arm.
i lean back in my setup idk if thats good for posture xD
is your rig in the middle of your gaming space?
Run it as is then for a hot minute
I've been having this shii here for 2 years 😭
if you can see everything while gaming your good i guess.
for me that would be a lot of eye strain
I just broad cast to my tv if i wanna watch stuff
i'd get a wider base monitor clamp and go for arms to reposition the monitors better.
this was an old pic of my setup lowkey kinda tuff but monitor was always close
load the desk with heavy stuff
my desk is so ass
only do that if you plan on not moving it lmao
I might 😭
better fiber board would be an up.
at the price of desks right now
i justified making one
2 options to save money is A- go diy B- look at classifieds for desks.
@pastel nacelle i wanna ask you
lowkey i was kinda trolling in the first image but the suggestions fire
😭
i'd rather go diy because i can quality control it
angle your screws so your new desk doesnt wobble
?
if your gonna diy. my dumb mistake was plunging wood screws straight down where i was connecting wood.
from the stands?
table legs yeah
ok
if you need ideas theres a bunch of diy builds under 200 in hardware on youtube.
cheapest and quickest is to buy the table top cut from MDF in the size you need and like 30 feet of 2x4
tbh i'd just prefer any solid wood desk over this junk
dont care if i need to spend more
Anyone know where I can get an artisan zero been looking for a new mousepad
Thankss!
have a look at the lgg saturn pro
What’s your opinion on it?
Cause tbh I was between the Xraypad because I prefer larger pads but I’ve heard a lot of good things about artisan
i dont own either but pretty much everyone i know who has used that and the artisan zero says the lgg is either the same or better
xraypad is a great budget option
the lgg saturn pro is the mousepad im buying when i build my setup
Budget isn’t my biggest concern but it’s a plus
I’ll look at both
i just got the type99
best control pad by far
but rn the restocking is a little bad
so you would have to wait
if you want rn
saturn pro for sure
I’ll try it out if the type99 isn’t in stock I’ll just wait a bit or get the aqua 2
def worth the wait trust
Alright thanks
check dms whenever btw
aye welcome to the club
same LMAOO
I had the 80HE pre-ordered but cancelled it because I needed money.
me but with the 60he
i might get it next week
still deciding
I need the extra keys of the 80 so I'd never consider the 60.
ah gotcha
yeah i only game
so its perfect lmao
keycaps are the hard thing for me rn
Respect on the adulting
i hate the internet sometimes, I go in research circles, too many differing opinions and I want too many things or maybe i try consider TOO many variables, basically spent my tail looking for mousepads last night, talk about opinions of things all over the place, almost as bad as audio haha
At least you're doing research on what you want, instead of going with the flow like most people do.
TYPE99
easy
true, the journey of general knowledge acquisition is fun sometimes
hmm, something wild and different that hasn't been done with mice before...
hovering electromagnetically levitating mouse with a room temperature superconductor inside
can those Artisans be properly washed in a sink full of mild soapy warm water?
and are some of those wear issues valid?
wear issues?
ive had my hein for like 5 year s
and yeah just a sink or tub
warm water and microfiber brush with like dish soap or dawn soap
if there are alot of variables, i recommend spreadsheets
and graphs and statistics etc, too much information, stupid limited non super computer brain
my brain no work good either, but sheets helps alot
yeah I can never decide when I need to buy something.... give me just one or two options please rather than 1000 to sift through... otherwise it takes me actual months
absolutely, double edge sword
damn capitalists
@old marlin I think it was you, what skates did you recommend me for use on the glass pad?
cuz I forgor
Corepads
The uhmwpe skates from skypad also are alright apparently
Or cheap aliexpress dots

VGA cable impedance mismatching causing ghosting?
(And yes everything looks like this)
My VGA cable is 3 meters long. I feel like it's too long. Well it is too long since my PC is right next to it. I have a 0,5 meter one ordered which will hopefully fix it.
also VGA old AF, makes even IPS monitors have artifacts
Mitsubishi 2070SB.
who cares its VGA lol
cuz CRT
give up
CRT's belong in electric waste, high hz OLED's are too good these days. Maybe 5 years ago CRT were worth the hassle
Let me see how your high HZ OLED looks in motion at 60 fps.
Yeah it's analog, try a shorter cable that doesn't go near anything that could cause interference
And maybe screw it in tight
what is ihaswooting badge thingy
Ya I will.
Also heard that ferrite cores are bad since they filter out high frequencies which if you're running the display at high resolutions etc can also cause signal degradation? But I've no idea if that's true.
That's what a ferrite core is btw.
My current cable has them.
I have to respect soria's defiance
Indeed. Difficult to find a GPU that has VGA 😄
there are converters
Sure. But those add more noise more often than not.
but it's probably the cable. I had an xxxtra short VGA cable that looked like poo too, whereas the cheapo 1m cable was fine. it's luck of the draw
Mhmm. Trouble with analog cables. You don't necessarily get a hard dead signal, you might lose a colour or have some noise.
Ferrite cables are cool. But have you tried twisted pair cables with shielding sheathes?
I remember this adapter being flawless and cheap
270hz max pixel clock, that'll be enough 😛
It wouldn't actually.
I run at 300.
I mean pixel click.
I meant to type megahertz, my bad
It's a 140 kHz horizontal scan rate monitor
Kk
max pixel clock of this thing is 390? that's some nutball display
Yes. It must have been impossible to run maxed out when it came out.
mans gotta go back to 90s
Part List - AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER, Fractal Design North ATX Mid Tower
Thoughts? It’s gonna be cheaper pops is helping me out for my bday
If you have a microcenter it would help.
Shop open box.
I don't deal with AMD. On the regular.
7900xtx > 4080s
Not rocking with amd software/drivers. Been building with nvidia since forever
Nvcp just so easy to work with idk might be a fanboy
i mean that would make me a fanboy too
- lower psu usage soo fuck it i ball
Shop for open box parts
Full microcenter build. I’ll look around for cheaper parts or alternatives. I think im going Monday
anyone good with the wooting macros care to help me out real quick via DM
Yes ....
Especially game devs, optimised that shit ffs
yeah so we ostracize 90% of indie devs who barely can get it running, great idea
What?
new hardware means for indie devs you can just do things very unoptimized and instead of learning proper code and do 6 months of that they can do sound or art or whatever else for their game
which is the only way they get it done without running out of funds in the first place often
Or
Since hardware won't be improving for another 10 years in this situation
They could make the game first
It'll be unoptimized
And then learn how to optimize it over the 10 years
yeah and have no revenue for it, great idea so they just quit again
?
You can boycott popular poor optimized games by not buying them
most games work fine these days and the ones that stick out like cp77 arent unoptimized because of dev skill issue but because of management issues
this would change nothing for that
Yes
It helps to know which games these are too since the publishers said "fuck you just buy better hardware" xd
like no this is not a good take this is completely stupid
this would only caus you to have worse and less games in that time
Right, marketing fostered the many copies of cyberpunk to be sold
Same thing happened to Halo Infinite, kind of a shame
I feel nothing will change considering how many people from generation z are lazy
what
The generation that will make it to the workplace soon enough is generation z. My point is they probably will not get on management for doing a poor job managing, they can be quite lazy.
why would they be any lazier than current students
Well I will give you an example: at my current workplace I know of two people who would hide their phone and watch anime.
But there is another poimt Iwill make, they also care more about their mental health. Management is gonna have a hell of time demanding overtime
so for one people did that the moment an iphone was good enough to play videos lmao
and I dont quite see how that relates to the statement stopping pc hardware would be good because it forced current devs to optimize better
I mean I was more tagging to your response if management being the real issue for what looks to unoptimized for mass consumption. I do to an extent agree with you on smaller groups needing to brute force code to work since there is a good chance they try to meet a deadline to look good.
if optimazation wont give you more mony why optimize
why spent lots of time writing it in c++ and spent even more time on to support multiple platforms when electron just does the job
discord uses up to 2% of my cpu but usually at <0.5%
so seems like electron does just fine
wootility must be an outlier then
It can work ok in well made apps indeed
But you can also have hilariously badly made electron apps, like Star Citizen's launcher which at one point consumed more CPU than the game itself (when idling at main menu)
you can do better but it works well enough whats the point
the time spent to optimize it could be used to add 3 new features
the less people need to optimize something the more you can let people that arent good at that but could do creative things well make the games to stay in the game example
cpu wise discord isent bad but 1.2 gb of ram is just stupid
So python vs c++
so if you limit how much better hardware gets you limit who can make games and then you limit how many games you get and how good they are because someone who could make an amazing game but just not optimize wont be able to make it then
@wheat plume
I'm reading
hello! can anyone pls explain what the difference between a 60he and 60he+ is?
60he+ adds support for screw in stabilizers
so meaning i can buy aftermarket stabilizers that are better?
Any that fit
You can ask people in #🔧│keyboard_modding to help point you in the right direction for what stabilizers you want
ive been rocking a 60he in tofu alum case that ive modded a lot and deciding if i should buy some nice stabilizers and upgrade the pcb
also if you dont mind me asking i lubed a few months ago and sounding kinda clacky now does this usually indicate that i need to relube?
i do have stock wooting keycaps which probably dont help
Depends, could be there wasnt enough lube applied if they’re louder than before i believe
Definitely ask in #🔧│keyboard_modding , they’re much better at modding questions than i am
okay lol ty
@crimson marsh where do u get the case from and is it only for 60
Or 60 and 80
Specs Case: Anodized Aluminum, E-coating Aluminum or Acrylic Weight bar: Brass, surface sandblasted process Structure: Tray-mount Compatible with most 60% PCB, including DZ60 rev3.0/DZ60 RGB-ANSI/DZ60RGB V2/GH60/Wooting 60HE PCB, etc. As seen in our video in the photo gallery! Weight: Aluminum case approximately 0.8 kg
Do I add a plate @balmy vector
you dont need to add a plate
there are no 3rd party cases for the 80he at the moment, as the files havent yet been released for 3rd parties to make use of them
no
brass weight just makes the case heavier and slightly changes the sound
K does it make it Louder on lower with brass weight @separtedmango1
probably would make it slightly quieter, as itll fill the middle if foams not already in there
module on its own is the PC plate, silicone pad and pcb
What’s the silicone pad again @balmy vector
its put inbetween the pcb and pc plate to give it more thock
K
And the pc plate is were the stablizers go
Does it come with the stablizers @balmy vector
yes, it comes with screw-ins
Is the sensors of wooting in keyboard or keycaps or pcb
So it already in
I don’t have to add it my self
yes the stabs are already in, the sensors are on the pcb itself
if you already have keycaps and case, thats correct
if you want to add switches other than lekkers, theyll need to be compatible.
#🪛│modding_faq message heres a compatibility list with many other hall effect switches
So this is what I add to plate @balmy vector
I don’t see blue clicky switches @balmy vector
So all I have to do I put all switches in then put keycaps and case
Correct
Majority of he switches are linears
Hello! Is there any difference between the 60HE+ and the TwoHe besides the size and stabilizers?
TwoHe has a little more latency than the 60he but it’s negligible. Just be prepared to stick with the stock twohe case if you’re thinking of going all out on customization since no other cases fit its design
Okay nice. Thanks

hi
hey, other than the cable sets on wooting, are there any other sites or sources I can find for more color variations
I'm currently looking for something purple/black as the purple/lavender one wouldn't specifically fit my keyboard color scheme, thx
They both can do tachyon mode with the same latency. Two just cant do the entire board.
should i have harware acceleration off on everything?
What does that mean
there are no clicky HE switches
didnt cal mod that
isnt it super late for you dashi
apparently not
@digital cliff I mean can I use my clicky blue switches from old keyboard
no
yes but it would be a pain to mod into a 60% or more cause the click springs are magnetic. theres also no telling if this can influence the magnetic response the sensor gets
I’m looking to buy a monitor, I do play FPS games most of the time, but not only limited to them. Any recommendations?
budget?
Anyone got cool color modes they could send me with the fastest setting for val and fort???? wooting 60he
Under 60,000 INR, roughly $700
USD?
wow that is cool
Will look into it. Thanks!
arlecchino

Would you say it is worthwhile upgrading to the 360 Hz model rather than the 240 Hz one? The difference is around $300 USD.
I think not, the difference between 240 and 360hz is subtle
maybe worth $100 but not $300

would just rather have wooting. they'll offer much better service and support in the long run
hmm interesting
firmware support yes i guess
HM66 apparently has better hardware and as of now regular firmware updates
but a lot of these chinese keebs are unknown
and all reviews are in chinese
so i dunno if i should get a hm66 or 60he
60he is very expensive and the hm66 is bit more expensive for hardware that allegedly rivals 80he or even beats it idk atm
but wooting 60 he is well known and tested
so idk
Makes sense. Thanks for the help!
west vs east type of thing
it has a "response rate" of 8k that will make no tangible difference
a garbage can falling over outside will start typing emails on your keeb lawl
it's adjustable though
idk to what it can be adjusted to
anyway this sus reddit user who has very sus background said this: https://www.reddit.com/r/MechanicalKeyboards/comments/1e643h4/latest_build_fastest_keyboard_in_the_world/
not sure just looking for people who have tested a lot of these keebs
including chinese ones
usually china is better for price since they manufacture this tech
To be fair they manufacture - all - tech. Even our keyboards.
But you're unlikely to get decent customer protections when ordering from China.
Or necessarily get what you pay for 😄
agreed that's why idk what to do
go with the tried and true
I mean ali express is decent
Ali express is a platform, not a company.
they provide customer protection no like ebay?
Not... not really.
they do
Point is i wanna buy wholesale prices ya know
And shipping things BACK to China is not cheap 😄
I heard the Cycle8 (nvm this is a keyboard kit)
rakka60
viper geon
pcbs are the best of the best but my sources are kinda grey
bought a lot of stuff from aliexpress and always gotten refunded so far if there's been issues
Ali also has a major language problem. Depending on what page I am on, it's either in English, German or Dutch of all things 😄
if you can stand to lose the money, no reason not to order a chinese clone
doubt you'd be refunded for buying a cloned set and receieving said cloned set though
Sorry I meant to say geonworks venom he pcb and rakka60 are apparently the most capable pcb on the market according to gray sources
just be aware of what you're buying and its usually all good
true
Aliexpress return policy is really nice honestly
Idk about u
HM66 seems to be the most cost-effective on the market
Like I said - I don't have positive things to say about Ali as a platform 😄
I don't like Ali tbh
Have u bought from it by any chance
But if they sell hardware that is superior for like $10 more
Yes, many times.
allegedly*
Oh nice, what did u buy
so i assume you’ve had the keyboard at hand to be saying this?
I am a Uni student but i am aware of the ins and outs of the business a lil
No but I know how physics work. 0.01mm is thinner than a strand of hair.
What clone?
Yes but theory and practice aren't the same
Why do yall have this perception that any hall effect keyboard is a clone of wootings
Dude on reddit claimed 0.02 was usable
idk
Ever thought that maybe hall effect is just a technology used for keyboards?
A lot of the industry is copy and paste tech
Not u
no it was used in space a long time ago
Bro
Im talking about keyboards
I don't recall seeing anyone claim that.
the principle https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hall_effect
The Hall effect is the production of a potential difference (the Hall voltage) across an electrical conductor that is transverse to an electric current in the conductor and to an applied magnetic field perpendicular to the current. It was discovered by Edwin Hall in 1879.
The Hall coefficient is defined as the ratio of the induced electric field...
yeah, the software itself warns you when you go below a certain point, but saying expect random inputs and not specifying you’re talking about it being at the lowest actuation is crazy
I am completely aware
🙂
Like I said. 0.01mm is a hilarious claim, when you understand what that means in terms of sensor sensitivity and variance.
1/10 of human hair does seem a bit odd
but it's using hall effect
wym claim, you’re saying it’s untrue?
Good sensors or not, there's no such thing as a perfect signal. There's always a small amount of variance on the signal received, which is where deadzones come into play.
@reef patrol their* software allegedly measures this
Yes, so they give u the choice
Whether or not u use it is up to u
I'd say there's a good chance of them lying
as a user i wouldn’t complain about getting given the choice to go down to 0.01mm lmao
Also of all hall effect kbs, the hm xu pcb would be the one to do it
My point is that I don't buy that it's anywhere near 0.01 in practice, because of the implications thereof.
It has gotten a lot of praise in china, korea and japan
Reasonable
And is getting praise in the west too
How can we measure this rigorously
I look forward to proper reviews using testing machinery that can actually measure this in an unbiased way
The way I put it is, if u want wooting, buy it for the community and the open-ness of manufacturing, upcoming firmware etc
Oh
he doesn’t know
Are the tests independent?
China said they made a superconductor
and we know how that went
oops korea
nvm
leaning towards the hm66 ngl
wooting seems like the safer bet, but hm66 seems like it's shooting for the stars
Look the thing is this pcb has the most hall effect sensors of all, out of all the available, I would definitely expect this one to detect the smallest changes in magnetic field flux with the appropriate firmware
And im not putting wooting down at all
But it seems the prejudice to other boards here is stupid
yeah it’s safer cause you’ll get support and shi
But HM66 has provable frequent firmware updates
Honestly sikakeyb support isnt too bad, but idk if it applies to ali orders
i think he means firmware updates
No
na firmware updates r frequent
Prejudice or severe skepticism seems apt given the claims made, with no unbiased third party showing their work. But that's just me. Trust no one, verify everything 😄
Uh
I mean if multiple HE testers have covered it, multiple peripheral enthusiasts, multiple HE enthusiast, multiple reviewers have covered it
hey u won’t know until u try the keyboard, i don’t think it’s right to downplay it when u haven’t tried it
I wonder what more u want
I don't need to try it. I just want someone to test the claims properly, because I don't take them at face value. 🙂
Not a good mindset imo, you should try yours competitor's tech
Why have u ignored the dpqp measurements I've sent u?
Why dont u respond to that 🙂
okay sure, again doesn’t mean you can say the keyboard will have random inputs etc… again there’s people who have done testing which have no connection to hemu
If you ignore competition's tech you are admitting ignorance in your own market
I mean the difference between the hm xu and the wooting is quite drastic
I work customer service, not product development. It isn't my job to do so (and we do exactly that)
Oh ok
And when u put it into context/play, id say the difference is even greater
You mean the Japanese website? I did take a look, and they don't show their work, only the results.
Or did u just look at that specific page
the reddit review seems telling obviously not an engineering source or academic review or anything
I don't have any need or interest in painstakingly digging through a website that's being google translated. If you know that they show their testing processes, then by all means.
Again - Personal opinion here.
Mansen, do u think the wooting 60he is still the best hall effect keyboard out there
Out of curiosity
It seems the only bias here is coming from u
As a member of the company he def does
Based on what metrics? The 80HE is our newest product, and has more features than the 60HE.
Yeah based on responsivity
It also has a measureably lower latency.
and if not you can argue other parameters are more important
obviously durability, general quality ...
Any keyboard that claims 0.01 needs to show proof or I absolutely do not believe them. I know which company manufactures all of the keyboards that claim this, and unless proven otherwise I think it's complete bullshit.
An understanding of how hall effect sensors function and an understanding of manufacturing variances in the strength of the magnet in the switch is enough to know will near certainty that anyone claiming 0.01 accuracy is lying through their teeth.
compare stock hm66 to stock wooting
Forget about 0.01mm actuation, lets talk performance
Or are we avoiding this
Avoiding what?
expand
It's not my job to sell you a 60HE over a HM66. Nor do I wish to push personal bias. You asked on folk's opinions on the board, and my only comment is that I don't trust the specs they're claiming.
If you need help with a Wooting keyboard, I'd be more than happy to offer my support. But I have no personal experience with this HM66, so all I can rely on is credible reviews and the claims made by them - I'd love to see some western reviews with proper testing methodology. And if they happen to "beat" us on any metric, kudos to them. 🙂
Wasnt it true 8k?
End to end latency has more steps involved than scanning+polling
I mean 8k scan and polling should result in about 0.125-0.16ms initial actuation latency right?
Oh word
But why was it true 8k
But now about 2.5k scanning?
Or am i tweaking
True 8k means that it scans and polls at 8k
Calder explains the latency being higher than .125 in the Computex video with practical examples using the measurement setup. 🙂
I mean if its 8/8, it should still be around 0.125, excited to see results tho !
But for a system to recognize the fact that it has received an input requires computation and firmware
I mean there are boards which have alr been tested below 0.2
Will the 80he progress with firmware?
At the end of the day if the HM66 does boast better specs, for I think $10 AUD more, why would I buy a 60HE? And if we have no independent testing which is not exclusive to this industry in fairness, just about every other peripherals product, we need to fix this
Need standardised tests so that customers can decide
I agree that standardized testing in critically important. This is why we are providing latency testing rigs to both reviewers as well as competitors, free of charge
I feel like Asian tech isn't getting a fair chance cause it's being lost through translation and a bad rap
Also thoughts on accessibility
These HE keyboards top of the line are being sold for exorbitant prices
irrespective of the manufacturer
putting people at a competitive disadvantage
$266 AUD bro this is crazy, this applies to the HM66 as well
To be fair it is not difficult to send hardware from China to a reviewer for an independent review.
God knows I've done my fair share of "weird china tech" reviews over the years.
A lot of it is lack of interest and lack of marketing on the manufacturer's end. China is a HUGE market, and you can absolutely design products to only sell there, and never have to worry about western markets.
until someone makes them accessible they will be used by niche esports peeps
youtubers
and rich kids
Fair enough
HM66 is korean only 5000 units sold
they say themselves
Just my genuine thoughts
I love your ideas and stuff and i think performance based keyboards are the future
why buy fancy looking keyboards for $200 when you can invest solely into performance
but atm performance is crazy expensive
If the price of our keyboard is out of reach for a particular potential customer, then they should not buy our keyboard and instead put that money towards upgrading something else in their system like the CPU or GPU
A big issue is - as you mention, the lack of standardized testing.
Any influencer can buy or receive a product and claim they tested it. But you need some standards for what is tested how, for it to make sense.
Comparing someone like Gamers Nexus to ... most of their "rivals" is a good example. Anyone can write a script and present it in a nice way. But most reviewers don't actually go into depth with things (and most viewers don't care either)
and i know the profit margins are high banking on the clout from youtubers like optimum
most cpus and gpus can run 99% of games sufficiently
people overspend in that department notoriously
Wooting HM and all these HE do things that genuinely give you a competitive advantage
A $20 keyboard from your local "sells everything" store can run 99% of games sufficiently
a 4090 on minecraft doesn't
again, competitive adv and dsv
Drunkdeer and stuff are coming into this budget HE market
A good keyboard won't make a lick of difference if your game sense is crap
Disagree it does
Cough FPS purely skill based games
keyboard is the last thing you should invest in if you want competitive advantage, first you gotta hit 240-360hz in your game
and game sense comes with time
to the point that the bottle neck becomes the equipment
you could argue internet as well yes, but having quicker responsivity kinda counter balances this or at least combats this
Anyway I am getting past myself, I believe with practice anyone can be a competitive gamer
so if you disagree fair enough i suppose
But I do think equal playing grounds should be possible for everyone
preach king
We will continue to drive forward keyboard innovation to the greatest extent that we can.
thanks
Cut your profit margins show some sympathy don't partake in the soulless capitalist mindset and innovate by saving unneeded costs
from development production to sales
Like that one cereal that improved their sales by cutting the BS marketing and design and made a super minimalistic packaging which set them apart
otherwise kill it
I'm not going to spend my Sunday afternoon debating the ethics of our pricing models
You have no obligation to purchase our products, just the same as everyone else
I am not saying you guys are esp guilty of anything
But I do think their is value in being transparent, very ethical and accessible
in general
As I said if you are already doing these things kill it
We just shipped an SOCD feature to all of our keyboard models, going back what... 6-7 years at this point?
I'd say that's a feather in our "don't be capitalist pigs" hat.

@reef patrol isn't that just a simple github script
i do like the sentiment tho
Razer certainly didn't seem to think so. What was it their dev said on Twitter? Took them a year to develop? And it was only added to their newest line of keyboards?
What has my life come to an anticapitalist biology graduate soon to be scientist arguing about gaming keyboards and doxxing myself
Razer are filth
I fw your mentality
But yeah comparing yourself to Razer is setting the bar to the ground lol
Sorry if I seem like I am coming at you guys, anyway best of luck
Yo quick question does anyone know any website to get good wooden keycaps from???? to match to my fractal north case ISO DE layout+
paid by the hour
Just get a wooden gh60 case
And beige keycaps from shenpo or smt
io dont have a 60%
Im not gna recommend wooden keycaps
could also be pbt with wooden finish idc
I believe that would be reverse dye sub
And thats a nono
kk thanks
I will keep it at black atm ig
The first alpha release of Pop!_OS 24.04 with COSMIC will be released August 8th.
@jeremy_soller, Maria, and I join the System76 Transmission Log pod to chat about how COSMIC came to be and where it's headed. https://t.co/sJwiYmHDYK
omg its happening.
and i will absolutely NOT be running a alpha
rather fast considering all the crap they had to write
asus only till like mid august then other models
Hey there anyone knows when the 9800x3d will drop approx ?
september is a current expectation but could always be later, likely before intel launches something in the winter
A friend could sell me an upgrade pack for 500e 7800x3d + msi x670e and 32gb cl32 5200 mhz corsair
Should I dig or wait
Only game I play is cs2
thats alright
Torn if I should wait or not
get it, means you have months of fun with it and you can upgrade whenever
or just wait for zen6 to upgrade
I have a I'm kind of stuck tbh, and I don't know what else to do, I ran a bunch of benchmarks and I get 420 fps avg but on faceit I almost never reach those.
My computer is 5600x and 6950 xt I play on a aw2725df which is why I'd like to reach the 360hz atleast but it seems my fps is just fluctuating a lot.
I have an aw32dwf as well so I think it might be a good upgrade
Guys is it easy to build a kb from the 60he module ? (first mod ever)
benchmarks look super promising
too bad NPU couldnt be tested properly
dont care about npu till some usefull app exists for it xD
Yes.
Just got your 60HE+ Module, or wondering how the installation is performed? Following along this tutorial on how to install your 60HE+ Module into the Alumaze60!

🛒 Wooting 60HE+ Module https://wooting.io/wooting-...
just like 5 screws into the case, plopping the switches and keycaps on by hand
well.. home server applications soonish.
voice, llms, that stuff
sure, still soon and not now
First mod ever so im kinda nervous
then again.. ppl were very happy with coral NPU m.2 cards.
that does 2tops
if you can screw screws you're completely fine
if you use it on non windows you also have all 50tops for it so that should be good enough for now
it's not some super fragile piece of kit, just some pieces you screw together haha
And are the jade switches really requires or should i just take the lekker ?
oops. its 4 tops.
but yeah 50 is loads compared to that
neither of them is better or worse
pick whatever you want
so are the lekkers
But 20% more
everyone on yt are wrong tbh
$
believe who you want
just buy the jades I suppose, it's not a big loss
well do you know what kinda sound you like
No
so then you need to try both and decide for yourself
from what I can tell the jades are clackier than the lekkers when both are similarly lubed
I personally don't like that
Hm
I think it also depends a lot on the microphone they use
So its not the real sound ill hear
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k7zCM7kFNo8 like even looking at this video

Oh thx
the jades clack a lot more
you need to get a video where the same person tests both
and even then it's not true to life as mic placement, mic itself, the room, the table, everything, affects the recording
so who can really say how it sounds when it's on your table and it's your ears hearing them
I don't think lekkers sound awesome from the box, I would handlube them personally, but if you don't want to that's completely fine. in that case I'd probably also pick the jades even if they are higher-pitched, the sound is just a little more consistent and not crunchy
the lekkers after lubing at least the spring do sound a lot better
Lekker is mor click
Jade is clack
Lekker sounds cheap
Jade feels premium
Idk
They feel way better to me
Thx
that's the crunch in the spring
Hmm
but happy if I helped you make a decision
I think its the .5 mm of plastic
eh, that's not really nothing to do with it
Yes
I think it touches it in a clAck sound
It does change everything
Its beautiful
On the tofu60redux i can buy 70 jade but theyre out of stock
It shouldnt take too long
both lekker 45s
the one on the left I just lubed
