latent mural
#

adjustable actuation distance but no actuation tactility to go with

#

go figure

idle raft
#

I have traditional switches that activate after the tactile bump and they feel fine

#

If that's not something that you want, then align the actuation with the tactile bump

#

Is there something wrong with that?

latent mural
#

ok you would need an infinite amount of keycaps with an infinite amount of tactile distances

idle raft
#

What?

#

Oh, you mean keyswitches

#

I'm saying align the actuation with the tactile bump, not align the tactile bump with the actuation

latent mural
#

ok but what if your keyboard is analog

idle raft
#

What about it?

latent mural
#

well fixed tactility with variable actuation is not something that plays well

idle raft
#

Ok?

#

Just don't use the variable actuation

#

Actually, you've tried it; Where did you find tactile hall effect keyswitches?

zenith silo
idle raft
#

I mean, no?

zenith silo
#

0.1 actuation + rapid trigger is so nice for fps

idle raft
#

the double action keystroke functionality is arguably better with tactile keys

#

again, the wooting one HAD clicky key as an option

zenith silo
#

It also had half the actuation range the 60he and 2he have

#

Iirc it was only like 1-3mm or 1.5-3mm

idle raft
#

how is that related?

zenith silo
#

The current switches do 0.1-4mm

#

Makes the keyboard feel other wordly responsive/fast

#

Alongside rapid trigger

idle raft
#

I reiterate my question; how is the wooting one's activation range related to this conversation?

zenith silo
#

It wasn't anywhere near as sensitive so it having a tactile bump is a lot easier to implement than with how sensitive the current switches/he switches are

umbral heron
#

You can jerry rig clicky/tactile switches if you want PeepoShrug
I use clicky Lekkers in my UwU

zenith silo
#

And yeah I'm sure there are pretty decent ways of doing it

#

If not they will come eventually

#

I'm thinking about picking up jades

idle raft
zenith silo
idle raft
#

again, hall effect switches have advantages beyond simply 'variable actuation point'

zenith silo
#

I just don't think having a tactile bump at 2.5mm let's say would feel good if you use below 1mm actuation

idle raft
#

the much reduced development of chatter is the main thing I want out of them

#

I would happily buy a wooting keyboard even if it didn't have rapid trigger

#

I'm tired of replacing contact based switches all the time

zenith silo
#

Is it an issue with regular mechanical switches or a different kind?

idle raft
#

uhhhhhh

unkempt lake
idle raft
#

gateron yellows, akko jelly/black/pink, tealios, box whites

#

I've had all of those develop chatter to the point where they're unusable

idle raft
zenith silo
#

I'm not a keyboard snob Ive never cared about sound, for all I know my k95 could've had it and I just never noticed

#

Wooting was the first keyboard I ever tried to make sound better

#

So far I've just lubed and tape modded

idle raft
#

'chatter' refers to a key sending multiple inputs with a single keystroke

zenith silo
#

Oh, then no I've never had the issue

idle raft
#

ie: press a key once, have it typed more than once

#

afaik cherry mx switches are relatively ok in terms of chatter

#

but they feel shit to play with, so I avoid them

zenith silo
#

My k95 had issues with uh coffee spills doing similar things but not switch related lol

zenith silo
#

Makes sense

idle raft
#

ya, I had a k95 for about 2 years, never developed chatter

zenith silo
#

If it's cheap at least

zenith silo
idle raft
#

grats

zenith silo
#

Other than a sticky numpad it still works fine lol

idle raft
#

chatter comes about through use, not damage tho

#

well, it can be caused by a coffee spill, but it certainly doesn't need one to happen

zenith silo
#

Yeah mines got easily 15-20k hours on it

umbral heron
zenith silo
#

Hate the software the keyboard is actually quite good I will say

zenith silo
#

Kinda sounds really cool

idle raft
#

nothing you can't do with AHK, but y'know

zenith silo
#

Only time I ever messed about with macros was single player games so didn't happen much

#

However the media hotkeys for opening websites was cool

idle raft
#

I quite like the feel of akko jellies, but the chatter makes them unusable

zenith silo
#

I'm probably gonna try that clicky lekker with the part from the ks 22

#

It sounds pretty cool and would be fairly cheap too

umbral heron
zenith silo
#

Probably cost me 60 Canadian roubles but worth it

umbral heron
polar schooner
#

Im selling my case (H7 Flow), cooler (DeepCool LS720), and fans (Arctic P12 white ARGB) for the case I have all the panels ofcourse but I am currently cleaning my PC. Parts are less than a year old, I just want a new look on my system. Only selling to people in The Netherlands.

zenith silo
unkempt lake
#

Despise them

zenith silo
#

Amen

umbral heron
idle raft
zenith silo
idle raft
#

I don't have any clue how the tactility in the ks22s are generated

umbral heron
zenith silo
#

The one the guy took in the last message link looks like this

#

Wait that's not for tactile that's just for sound isn't it

umbral heron
#

It also acts like tactile leaf, it is definitely noticeable

zenith silo
#

Idk I'm not good with keyboards

idle raft
#

mhm

#

yeah, seems like there really isn't a great option

#

might grab a pack of blues and see if I prefer them to l60s

zenith silo
#

I'm gonna try to use the piece from ks22 blues and see how it feels in lekkers

wheat plume
#

how do I fix whatever this issue is?

#

I went into the BIOS and just saw a lot of options in secure boot settings and got confused

umbral heron
#

Turn off Secure Boot dogekek

wheat plume
#

I never turned it off yet

idle raft
#

google <motherboard model> enable/disable secure boot

wheat plume
#

Fedora and Arch both work with it so why turn it off

umbral heron
#

Eh, another piece of useless stuff which makes debugging more complicated PeepoShrug
Yeah, you can just reset keys to factory ones, should work

wheat plume
#

this should be done by default....but I found my BIOS is in test / config mode instead of production mode

#

so maybe that has something to do with it

umbral heron
#

BIOS update time blob_dance
Unless there's a setting for it somewhere there

wheat plume
#

Idk if there would be a BIOS update
They no longer sell this model of laptop

umbral heron
#

I say either turn off Secure Boot or Reset keys to factory ones, worst can happen is that Secure Boot variables will be wiped from EFI filesystem and restored from UEFI defaults PeepoShrug

halcyon moss
#

secure boot is annoying.. as a linux user but it def makes stuff more secure

wheat plume
#

I tried resetting the keys to factory keys and the system settings still say the key is invalid

umbral heron
#

Is there "Allow Microsoft 3rd Party UEFI CA" option or something similar in your BIOS?

cursive summit
halcyon moss
#

it was an interesting vid

wheat plume
umbral heron
#

You can also try to disable - reboot - enable - reboot, apart from that I'm not sure what might've happened, Secure Boot should just verify "aight, this OS is signed, move on" and that's it

mild dome
#

Silly peasants, don't you know you should never ask of the great duopoly! Prepare for the next generation to double in price again, you have no other options

umbral heron
#

Great duopoly should prepare to the fact that I'm fine with playing in 1080p60 on medium dogekek
Gonna ride my 6700XT till it dies

Price extrapolation from previous hardware also has limitations when you don’t look at costs for the product at all, not saying the current prices are fine but it is a very narrow view to just look at inflation and past trends

i should check this on my pc at home, i wonder how many devices i have

analog sinew
#

I have 5 keyboards apparently

#

never understood this shit

astral haven
#

most extra mouse buttons are extra HID keyboards

#

and the wooting is 2 HID keyboards

#

why does the wooting say its a mouse?

ashen spindle
#

did remapping add mouse buttons? dont remember

astral haven
#

oh and i can add 1 more device by reenabling controller support lel

astral haven
#

lrm45 all bindable

fair gull
#

we allow mouse buttons thats why we have a mouse interface

astral haven
#

would there be any way to make the keyboard have a keyboard side numlock setting, where if it detects numlock in the wrong setting, it automatically tries to hit the numlock button after a few seconds, then again before whenever you press a numpad key?

fair gull
#

what

sweet cairn
#

I got a stroke reading that

astral haven
#

so the computer tells the keyboard when the numlock is off, and i never want it off
but my computer keeps changing it randomly
could there be an automation to change it back keyboard side?

fair gull
#

there could be but you could also try figuring out why it randomly changes

#

i havent seen that happen before

astral haven
#

it happens every time i log out

#

its a domain computer

#

presumeably has something to do with the system account

fair gull
#

shouldnt as account switching usually doesnt affect numlock state

astral haven
#

but also whenever plugging into a new computer its janky

fair gull
#

but in theory yes in practice no

#

the issue the keyboard doesnt know which OS its connected to and not all OSs have numlock to begin with

#

the first OS coming to mind is macOS

astral haven
#

yay for usb compliance

fair gull
#

it just only has the numblock function

#

has nothing todo with USB compliance

#

they accept the keyinput but it does nothing on the OS side

astral haven
#

yea thats what im saying

#

apple refusing to be compliant with the standard per usual

fair gull
#

it basically hits the same wall as allowing to map any unicode char so the keymap wouldnt matter to get certain things. but every OS has a different way to input these from a keyboard so theres no universal way

astral haven
#

either way im in no way suggesting this be a default, but an additional option in the keyboard settings menu?

fair gull
#

i think theres only 1 function thats not cross os and optional. and thats legacy controller interface

#

we generally aim for all functions to be cross platform without using wootility after having set it up

astral haven
#

thats fair, altho you already have the macos special keys

#

and the numlock button does nothing in macos right?

astral haven
#

it would also be nice to be able to build our own alt codes with dks, but atm its only possible for up to 3 digits unless some of the digits are the same

rough osprey

the link part isnt that bad since it warns you before you go to the website

well i have been using google sheets but theres some functions id love to add but excel/sheets just is garbage to do it with

#

like auto remove expired contracts, reorder list by longest running contract top and such

astral haven
#

really?
it kept bugging me about new financial automatic features, never used it but its strange they advertise it

astral haven
fair gull
#

like i said its garbage to do it with

astral haven
#

sure but its also free

fair gull
#

not to mention app script constantly gets stuck loading until i edit a value

astral haven
#

what

fair gull
#

my sheet currently has 10 custom functions callable from the cells. they all rely on other cells with custom functions. sheets really hates this and app script often just hangs in #LOADING

#

and then i need to edit a cell with a value for it to recalculate

astral haven
#

live stuff you should all do with native functions, and apps script should only be for automatic tasks?

#

i dont think i understand

fair gull
#

app script is made to create custom functions for cells

#

just like VBScript in Excel is

astral haven
#

thats not at all how i use it

fair gull
#

that is what is meant for

#

including the whole comments and such

astral haven
#

interesting, yea ive never used that

#

i basically use it to automate stuff that i would have used macros for

fair gull
#

i have functions like these to calculate certain things

#

mostly cause date math is a really shitty thing and with app script i can import some normal JS libs that handle date math

cursive summit
fair gull
#

now that i see it dont get me started on console logging stuff from app script

astral haven
#

interesting
my functions i only ever use inside of the apps script itself

fair gull
#

pain in the butt

astral haven
#

i also did a naughty and hardcoded my email into the error handling code lol

fair gull
#

hardcoded error message and line number

#

....

#

oh noe

#

also all the formatting is all over the place

astral haven
#

yup

fair gull
#

ill try removing the enddate from my REMAININGMONTHS function and just calculate it by calling the other functon for it

#

might be that relying on a cell executing a function gets it stuck

#

although id assume execution to wait until a cell is populated

astral haven

Got tired of Unity so I've been using Godot

#

I kinda like how Python-y GDscript is

#

And how just far less bloat there is

#

Sure, not as powerful as Unity, but just more intuitive

marsh pewter
#

just learn unreal

cursive summit
#

Unreal is even more bloat havo

#

But also game concept dictates what engine I use

#

And Godot is perfect for me, Unreal is completely unsuited for my concept

ashen spindle
#

what sort of concept makes unreal unsuited but godot works?

cursive summit
#

Unreal is mainly meant for 3D titles

#

I am working currently on a 2D procedurally generated game, kinda like Rimworld but open world

solemn remnant
#

can you rim in it?

cursive summit

Godot is pretty damn good for that

ashen spindle

unreal has 2d sprite things, octopath and such is made in it

cursive summit
#

Octopath though isn't 2D

#

Or is it

#

Last I saw it was just a fixed camera 3D game so it looks 2.5D

atomic hornet
#

But if Godot suits your needs, no reason not to use it. Unless you want to learn skills that gets you hired at Unity / Unreal using studios

cursive summit
#

Well yeah I'm just warming up with Godot

#

The real big projects will be with Unreal

#

Big money there

#

Few years of experience and I can land a job that pays what, 5 grand a month in a comfy office programming in Unreal?

#

Not too steep requirements and 6x bigger than minimum wage salary

ashen spindle
#

I mean if you plan to do future stuff in unreal, it makes no sense to not already use unreal

crimson wigeon
#

Unreal is cool and all, but it's incredibly heavy and tbh not as easy to quickly hack together something in. Sure that means you'll probably make it with better methods but still

astral haven
#

what

#

unreal has an incredible amount of demo and example content

#

obviously it depends what you are trying to do but theres plenty of stuff that can be easily hacked together in unreal

woven laurel
#

5 IF STATEMENTS IN A ROW?

astral haven
#

😛

crimson wigeon
#

Yeah and then I just wanted to quickly hack together some geometry and that went horribly, it could not even make collisions properly

#

Or if I just want to quickly script some behavior without wanting to end my existence because blueprint is ass

astral haven
#

its easy to quickly hack something together
its hard to make something stable

crimson wigeon
#

So I go for c++ to get a more sane language and now many things are poorly documented and one mistake and the whole thing blows up

#

At least unlike say unity I can control click all the code to see what it's doing

#

Very useful for learning

#

Oh and doing things in c++ likely means having to do many restarts because live coding is also unstable (or was?) which takes forever because it's so heavy and slow to start

ashen spindle
#

all has its up and downs but if the goal is to work in unreal later, doing godot now instead makes no sense

crimson wigeon

Oh yeah probably

The safe pick would be the Sennheiser IE 200's, balanced sound and especially comfort; these babys just blend into your ears and very light. Coming from Kato's, Truthear Zero and EM6L the IE 200 is easily my goto IEM's now. Only downside is the cable is quite pedestrian given the price
