IRC the Archmage GPUs were meant to be trading blows with the 3070 but the performance was well below Intel's expectations. This conclusion was drawn from the die size being real big despite the low performance. I would presume that Battlemage will be a lot closer to competing at the medium-high end category

apparently when you switch from 4mm to 3.5mm you should reset the board completely so it recalibrates with the new switches

everything is working as it should now!
