well yeah, but back to the thing about competing, no margin advantage makes it harder to compete if the rest of the product isn't up to par
Yep, Would be interesting to learn why they booked from TSM. Maybe they reserve their capacity for cpus
Got any pictures? 🤔
I just think amd sucks eventho I own it too lmao
well in cpus they lead, I have no delusions that they overtake nvidia in a gen or two
but I think they are good enough to be an option rather than only exist to make nvidia prices lower
take over nvidia in gpus?
I dont think its happening is what I'm saying
mostly because I think they will have diverging paths
nvidia focusing on AI and amd on HPC
Oh, yeah will see. I'm banking on Intel doing something cool to shake up the GPU Game
I mean if it can help their product it is prob a good idea to outsource
esp with where they are at atm
oh yeah definitely
but that was in relation to the recent discussion we had if they can do better than amd etc. in gpus
Wonder if/when AMD leans hard into ecosystem advantages
But giving up nvidia gpus is a neat impossible hurdle for some people
they tried hard with sam
and im really shocked how few people lambasted them for it
well they did create it
the pcie feature got added from amd working on it
so its not a rebranding of something they didnt work on
lolwut
my xeon phi from 2009 had rebar...
yes and?
I didnt say it got added when they used it under the sam branding
if you look at the document of the implementation from pcisig the people wokring on it to get it in were amd
fucking hell the recompression makes that look so pixelated and painfull for the eyes when you dont enlarge it
doesnt help that the pcisig website needs an account to view the stuff xd
however variable bar size is aloooot older than that
it was part of the base pcie spec
i wonder what amd changed?
yeah but afaik this is specifically for allowing the full range and not just variable range or something like it
?
the version before this doesnt support the entire address space
afaik all it allows is changing the bar size on the fly, which we still dont actually use
bar size is still relatively limited in terms of how big you can make it, but practically speaking we dont really need more than 2 exabytes of total addressable space
it might become a problem when we start using nvme to map 1:1 into memory, but thats some time off
and thatll only be a problem when you are dealing with nvof endpoints
well yeah, with vrams like we have them now we dont need terabyte address space, but according to this the versions before only had 512gb allowed
maybe it was some 32bit adjustment they added idk
I cant really look into it since I cba making a pci member account for this
thats just 1 device tho
and that still isnt useable memory, thats just the amount that the host can directly edit
that is also in 3.x so a change after amd submitted proposed changes so whatever they are using is already part of the spec by this is what I mean
and many devices have multiple bars, my 100g nic for example I believe has 16?
regardless amd didnt invent the idea
and they were by far not the first to use it on a gpu
oh sure, it just seems they worked on it and so I think its fine to do some marketing without it being claimed as their own that they never worked on
sure but bsing about synergy when it was more just poor drivers to begin with I thought would get them lambasted
but everyone loves an underdog story
Ehh since it also benefits Nvidia and intel I don’t think it’s just driver inefficiencies
it benefits nvidia significantly less
and intels biggest problem is drivers
and with nvidia, there are significant regressions
And in the end if it makes it better for consumers it would be weird to criticize too hard. You don’t want good drivers to have the drivers be good, you want the result to be good
sure but lets say that nvidia released a feature that does work fine on any motherboard, but then advertises it as only working with intel's most recent generation despite it working identically on older stuff and having more benefit there, they would be reamed for it
and especially if it works just as well on amd
im not bashing amd for this, they did an excellent job, and it turned out better than i expected
but the community reaction was definetly alooooooot tamer than i expected
fair

think because it more complex to get the details of it right and yeah it came when amd needed something to get back up
did they tho?
even without rebar, driver improvements have been massive
and their gpus are the most competitive they have been in 8 years ignoring crypto
Amd still don't have a gotcha feature over nvidia
being cheaper?
lol
the difference is now they actually are often slightly better performance for cheaper
well at the time it wasnt a stable driver really, was still in the beginning
yes but they could have buckled down and hired the new driver team a few months earlier for example to get them on for 5000 series
They have had at many times
It's just Nvidia dusts out the same ones a few weeks or a month later
AMD gets them moving
One particular one, that was less known, was having message signaled interrupt mode enabled by default for years, while Nvidia turned it on during 3xxx release
People complained about DPC latency for nearly a decade, before NV did it and they only did it bc AMD was getting too close so they had to edge a few more %
thats not a feature of the gpu, its just part of how pcie works, and it didnt have any real impact besides making it less convenient to use consumer gpus on servers
fortunately nvidia made up for that by removing some vfio limitations
No, it's a feature of a graphics driver and NV was lacking for a decade
the only feature that im aware of that amd had over nvidia was asymmetric multigpu, and at the time it was very nice for multimonitor setups
thats like calling windows desktop icons a "feature of the graphics driver"
Im not gonna argue with you, bc it's pointless. The thing is NV was lacking and AMD had a feature edge there.
But it was only known in the right circles
🤷 nvidia had it, it was just off because it was not good for performance
I mean jesus christ if it's disabled and nobody was aware of it, and it regresses performance, it's same as NOT HAVING it!
yea, they didnt enable it until people started caring about dpc latency (which is btw not a metric that should be a target)
but because it looks good for them to pass the torch to microsoft to handle the slowdown at the kernel level, they caved and did it
Well I'm sure DPC latency has a correlation to 0.1 % lows
ive seen the placebo effect numerically change 1% low benchmark results
i can imagine it being 10x easier to effect .1% lows
Perhaps, but there's at least that. AMD was also first to anti-lag, but nvidia put out low lag ultra shortly after that as well
Were they the first to integer scaling too?
probably?
Anyway Nvidia releases the same thing just 2 weeks after everything AMD does lol
also amds mousemovement based render scaling is genius and i do wish nvidia would copy that despite the awful optics
but im not gonna say that to nvidia because i want them to instead do mouse movement based reprojection
Steam deck will make a huge difference in amd game support
would these keycaps fit on a 60he? (the keyboard is anne pro 2)
idk if their keycap sizes are the same
probably
maybe with the help of hot glue idk
maybe ask elsewhere next time
like #🔧│keyboard_modding
i cant type there for some reason i tried
it breaks into two separate threads
pick the relevant thread, 60HE or 2HE
and then you can type in that
ohh nvm mb
That doesn't affect game support though if the game is vulkan
big if right there
True
come on everyone, we need full back touchpads with hover capability, current keyboard options are awful, and a complete keyboard setup like they have on ergo keyboards would be pretty sweet
hover is needed so that you can see where your fingers are while learning
i didnt know psvita had blind typing?
https://blog.google/products/android/braille-keyboard/
im talking this but on the back of the board and a complete keyboard for non blind people
git gud at using the touchscreen?
ugh
fingerprinting galore
gonna have the most oily, smudgy looking screen of all time
yuck
imagine needing to remove your hand to interact with your device in a semi effective way
skill issue
just have longer thumbs /s
i will attach all of my toes to my thumbs
nah i use my deck a decent bit, just not for games that have needed anything beyond what can be dealt with within of steam
the rog is gonna at least be running windows right?
virtual touchpad on windows is the best way to navigate a proper full desktop that ive found
Apparently, if they don't change anything until release 😅
would be challenging to drain even a pair of aas in just 40 minutes lmao
yea but with modern batteries? youd get at least an hour
but yea wouldnt be worried about battery
linux has no advantage in games
the only linux advantage is how stripped down it is stock...
Lol you can attach the weird mobile 4090 with the rog ally
heck ye!!!
Using pcie 3.0 x8
At least it's not thunderbolt
people are always like "wow thunderbolt is so shit
look at these benchmarks"
laptop 15w cpu + thunderbolt
desktop 100w cpu + x16
-_-
i "upgraded" from laptop to desktop and gained very very little since i kept the exact same cpu and gpu
Feel like only macbooks do well on the used market
Windows laptops gotta undercut a lot
I like the i/o on the back side
Think the lenovo laptops have that as well
I'm eyeing to replace my current laptop with a framework 16
Excited for that to come out
Wonder how much the gpu module will cost
And from who

only thing I would use a camera on a laptop for is windows hello
Screen looks nice, the only negative about the framework 16 is that it looks like a standard 16:9 display
the framework yes
the starfighter is not
also a starfighter
nothing specified yet
glad to see it has some beefier cooling than a steamdeck though
not exaclty a positive relation btw
yea costed a lot of money
never got fully fixed
had multiple deadly accidents
including one where 4 people died at once in a show
which was in celebration of the first entire squadron being delivered
in a timespan of 5 years it had 27 crashes and 17 fatalities
just in the german military
If anyone needs more for their NAS
used hdds kinda sketch not gonna lie
Renewed, you can always do a deep dive and examine them. A lot of times they have under 100 hours used.
Which is basically nothing
yep and theres never been a way to rewrite smart data /s
lol
still a good price, great for a gigantic nas

I really should get around and update my server
think thats still running debian jessie with support ended 2020 lol
It's all up and running again
But still sucked lol
Thankfully all I had to do was change the IP in cloudflare
Lol I think my laptop is thermally shitting itself
If just randomly froze and rebooted after 5s
Genuinely impressed with this rtx 3050 though, I'm playing D2 low at 2560x1600 and depending on planet it's up to 120fps but 60 min
Ye the 3050 is kinda mid on desktop but on laptop? Heck ye
i dont see the square layer key
what car is that?
Purosangue?
ugh
I test drove one last year
while car shopping
either that or I'm confusing it with another mazda
idk, either way, it was a mazda SUV, and it felt just as shit as the rental CX-3
felt kinda flimsy
didn't like how it handled, engine felt pretty weak
it felt like toy
was honestly on the verge of buying a Jeep Grand Cherokee then tbh
decided for a Durango last minute because of seriously good dealer price cuts making it several thousand dollars cheaper for...honestly, a very similar driving experience
yep...that one
ugh
idk I'm pretty thoroughly a Fiat-Chrysler group car person
they just feel more...solid
...V, are you secretly a miata fanboy?
I'd be ashamed to be one
I'm a fan of the Toyota Tarago before they killed that line

Pentastar and Hemi
except the Pentastar is actually really great
talking about...uh
Fiat-Chrysler
mfw V6 as standard:
just shy of a delicious 300hp
kind of want to take it to the track and stretch it out tbh
:\
seems like what dodge does... along with the rest of the industry
there's distinct engine and interior/exterior packages
and each one of those trims is a combination of two or three options for each
that's a little too...um
dirt road for my tastes
I just need something I can use to run over small children and get around the city in without dying in a pothole
...that's at least highway speeds if I recall
idk, I use metric
130km is acceptable highway speeds
how that converts into a "mile", I don't understand
nor which mile you're using
roman, arabic?
that actually reminds me
I do need to actually get around to driving in some hellscape in the US at some point
LA and NYC were pretty normal to me (haha city slicker)
I need something barren, no paved roads
any suggestions?
it's...just
interstate
assuming (due to it being the USA), in horrible shape, but
nothing too interesting
I'll definitely give it a drive when I can, but...wait
Moab...that's in Utah, correct?
with a name like that, it's gotta be
probably an NFS set piece transplanted to the real world
next time I feel like taking the very scenic route to cali, I'll definitely make sure I experience those roads
the whole rectangles thing seems to have been a very anglo franco thing, haven’t really seen that in any euro society until that influence
I wish more car manufacturers were willing to consider styles outside the flavour of the month. Loike mate, surely having a diverse set of styles would attract more customers then directly competing?
2020s is where sleek understated design goes to die
everything has to be gaudy and shouty with creases and lines everywhere
and hyper aggressive front ends, so tired of these grocery getters trying to look like tryhard lambos in the front
i just want a normal electric station to replace my volvo xc70 :/
I feel like we won't have any models to choose from other than SUVs in a decade
The new Prius looks like a bullet train though and I love it
even most cars that isn't SUVs already are infected with the crossover virus
Hell look at Ford. Are they even making a sedan anymore?
I'm pretty sure they discontinued the Fusion and Focus.
fiesta is a goner too
Chevy discontinued the Cruze I think
not that anyone bought fiesta sedans
Dodge, the Dart.
but even regular hatchbacks are dying for crossovers
bigger on the outside, but way smaller on the inside
thats the new trend apparently
no visibility either
I can be that asshole taking up half a parking spot so you think it's open but in reality it's not.
"iTs FoR cRaSh SaFeTy" not seeing anything and trusting your life to onboard sensors avoiding collisions for you is apparently the way forward
might get a skoda enyaq instead..
A what
DuckDuckGo. Privacy, Simplified.
Reminds me of BMW with that grill
yeah see a lot of skodas around these parts
hopefully the refresh will be a bit less agressive
the enyaq rear is so ugly
front looks like an ai generated bmw suv
back looks like a blown up opel astra
I like that actually lol
also like 75% of the entire vag lineup is sister vehicles
I've seen a chromed out last gen miata, looked worse
ngl
imo the skoda ones tend to look better than the vw ones
also skoda does not have a t-cross, t-roc or worse, the t-roc cabrio
because suv cabrios is something the world needed
german cars be like
for real, take a look at the t-roc cabrio
it is a treat
dunno if it counts as an suv if it doesn't have utility
can carry as much luggage as an old smart

Yes, hi. We need a midlife crisis model
how do we make a convertible seem boring
I mean it is vw
outside suvs and trucks they only offer up to 1.6 liter engines
obv they are boring
wtf is a taigo
I can imagine Hans, dad of four drive that thing up here on vacation while dragging a way too big camper on the back 😄
there won't be another piech era vw/vag group that's for sure
you can't use tachyon mode with 0.1 actuation point? It causes thje keys to press crazily without even having my hjand near it.
You already created a support thread - Please keep the troubleshooting in there. Someone will help asap.

What else is new?

I mean, it's not terrible
Scythe FUMA 2 is pretty incredible but it's like 40$
Holy moly
It could cool a R5 3600
It can't cool a 3800X
1900rpm
A 105W CPU?
Most are currently 105W or more
There are so many super cheap Chinese coolers on Amazon now so idk why they even bothered
Brand coverage.
Amazon being amazon

as long it sell just on that fact they make money
Could have at least rebranded the hyper 212

1TB Samsung 980 on sale half off
Their PSUs especially
Is that the one that has issues?
980 is.. fine?
I use one
970 EVO is really good though
ye
130 for 2TB
Idk one of the newer one have issues
Solid deal
990 pro had some
Ah
Wasn't the problem with 980 is that it used cheap af memory?
You can get a crucial 4tb for 200 regularly
Like TLC or something?
Hello, i found something called Game tick rate optimisation on the wootility advanced settings, what do you guys use? 30, 60 or no tick rate?
Never heard of that in my life
huh
uh oki thanks
Well, Calder has answered this https://discord.com/channels/167181566978555904/1055941712415051826
Well do you just leave it to 30?
According to him unless you use DKS, it doesn't matter it seems
I have never seen that option in my life
Must be a Lekker feature
kept it at the default none and if it produces issues change it
audeze nuts
What about your usual actuation point sens, what do you guys use?
preference, whatever works best for you is best
I know, i'm just asking others
I'm not asking for "the best"
Just out of curiosity
I heard 0.1mm is the best
Planars?
Looks like a planar
399 Audeze planar has potential
I'm not asking for advice
I'm just asking for what you use
Those are 2 very different things
Like, what do you personaly like?
I like 1mm
1.0 for typing, 0.3 act and 0.1 rt for gaming
Act?
actuation
Oh
Sheeesh, 0.1, how can you play?
kek
I have never heard of Audeze MM-500 before, https://www.audeze.com/en-eu/pages/mm-series
Manny MarroquinAudeze’s Head of Professional Products One of the music industry’s most sought-after engineers, he’s collected 14 Grammy Awards and over forty #1 hits, while mixing records for superstars including Kendrick Lamar, Jon Batiste, Post Malone, and Lizzo, amongst many others. Now he’s applying his years of e
0.1 with tachyon enabled is like 0.5 with tachyon off so probably that's how
The lower the faster
Mm 500 actually has 1-2 khz
It's really close to the lcd-5
So it's for mixing
What?
Audeze usually have that droop in the mids
I dunno how mixing and music listening are different
That doesn't make sense
yep there's a problem with tachyon mode that does that, it'
it's not accurate
Not much tbh
Just certain headphone you should never use for mixing

Yeah
No bass boost, more like a lack of it
big bass or bust
I like the lack of bass, doesn't distract from mids
Audeze figured out how to do upper mids
Well i just tested it, for me it stays 0.1mm, maybe you have a cable that's too long
yes the config stays the same, but try typing or playing and feel the difference
I just did
That's what i meat when i sayd that i tryed it
Is exactly the same, i can barelly touch the key and it register
I think you'll like hifiman like the edition XS, only if you can deal with the qc issues
same with tachyon on or off
I'm fine with the K702s
He is a volunteer though
they are aware of the issue bro
I listened to the Sundaras and Anandas
They are eh
Compared to muh K702
If it doesn't have wide af AKG soundstage, it is boring
#1075339050011074620 message you can read the thread if you like
Expensivo
Think the sound stage is pretty good from reviews
Everyone says the focal clear has a small Soundstage
K702s are flawless for me and I love them dearly, I don't need a collection, just functional hi end headphones
So probably a pass for you
Yeah at this point I figured that I love soundstage
Hifimans had not enough of it
Hd800s
IEMs fuckin suck cause they have none
Time for speakers
Rip
The statement above was provided to me by official employees to, for questions like this I often consult official employees for clarification
I was thinking of the AKG's high end offerings which people seem to shit on
K812 and K872
872 is new?
Speakers imo are the best way to listen to audio, nothing really feels the same no matter how high end you go
Yeah
Shouldn't be?
Speakers are not the best way to listen to audio
Lemme look em up
I have a good set of speakers, and I don't use them
You think I like live shows?
You haven't listened to a very nice powerful set of speakers
I just want headphones
Speakers are OP
yeah and Mark confirmed it as well in the same thread, just picked your comment to show for some reason
I want to feel the bass in my chest, nothing else will give you that experience
Smol bass, insanely wide soundstage, good mids and high end, etc
That's my headphones
Such disrespect vex smh
And actual soundstage, not just headstage
Yes that too
sounds horrid
Sounds the way I like it
are you one of those people who would go to a vr disco with headphones and vr glasses on
Speakers set ups can cost more than a house
People are biologically different, you know?

And they have no privacy, piss everyone off and you don't get to use them anyways
Gib me speaker bass until I shit myself
This is clearly a bass issue
You lot love bass, I don't like bass at all
Mine's tuned all the way -10
Colorado College students and Colorado Springs community members danced the night away at a 'silent disco' dance party at the Fine Arts Center at Colorado College. At this unique event, participants were given a pair of headphones and invited to tune into the channel of their choice to dance to their own beat underneath Buck Walsky’s Beach Front...
You don't have to make them loud, you can also set up a sound proof space designed just for your speakers
Well headphones have one major difference from speakers that in theory should make surround sound easier
They isolate your ears
Fam this looks lit
People have built entire rooms just for thier speaker set up
And so can perfectly deliver audio as expected and as they would irl
Can’t really do that with speakers
Speakers invented surround idk what you're talking about
It is also inferior in every way
See the thing is, in reality audio doesn’t work like surround speakers, there isn’t more volume from one speaker less from another. There is just slightly less volume slightly later
You lot are boring
That’s wrong, with earphones you could in theory simulate perfect spatial audio if you invested a lot of development into very low latency and such. With speakers you’d need infinitely many speakers to match that
Because unless it’s coming from exact direction it won’t be as good as headphone simulated in theory
This is a WTF graph
Disadvantage of speakers is no isolation
Unless you have speaker in the exact direction you can’t simulate it properly
Is the thing
Good luck getting the soundstage with such a small device, no matter how much rnd and time you give a engineer you simply can't beat physics
Tbf near perfect headphone surround sound also needs some specific calibration
Idk I rather just a simple 2 channel set up
Yea, for whatever reason people like surround sound despite the limited amount of content available for it
Well physics say that you have two ears, so if you isolate them perfectly, and simulate what microphones in ears would hear and play it out it is likely to be very close to real surround sound.
With speakers, it’s just volume ratios which is not how sound in reality works.
Yea and that's the problem
What genre mostly?
Quite a few new albums are getting spatial audio which is basically atmos too
Like even medium sized artists I listen to
The only music that I have seen with a 5.1 channel is vgm from very specific developers
For example the Hyrule warriors ost
Haven't heard spatial audio from Apple yet though
Damn, the Plex server I've been using for many many years is going down.

Hi, anybody know how to map the Wooting 60HE to lighting for Razer chroma? I have the wrapper on the software and brush but it doesn't do anything.
You enable chroma in both apps, then the API Razer has controls what happens.
Typically a game or app decides for you. But third party products (meaning non-Razer) don't have per key lighting.
Oh so I need to download the Razer bloatware
😦
Well... yes?
Or use a third party software like Artemis that binds all the different RGB standards together.
Welp, I do appreciate the help. Thanks for that information Mansen
I'm just scared I'll damage firmware or something if I use it xd
Not really, majority have real instruments
Virtual instruments are real instruments by technicallity
They're simply just recorded instruments
Your live recordings are recorded instruments too :)
Then just don't listen to what you don't like
Wow qobuz just straight up have better master versions than YouTube music of certain albums
Well most music streaming service just use the same library
Someone said deezer and Apple uses the same
Several ones in fact.
But it seems like qobuz is actually curating their own
laughs in russian streaming services

I've tried to obtain flac from those "services" but too much hassle
Also would want to build a nas first
You can just pirate from none of them and get everything
We do a little seekin souls
Maybe nyaa along the way

Some people lock thier files

Yeah it's still easy to find what you need
I rarely find locked files
What - putting passwords on archives?
About 13 a month for qobuz, but I can afford it
There's a entirely new client

What I don't understand spending money on is Roon/audirvana
Roon is only good if you have the entire thing setup with audio streamers otherwise it's a waste
And streamers are stupidly expensive unless you make your own raspberry pi version
hmm not sure if the amazon basics cooler being ok for 3800x even is a good thing so its not a scam like the cables can be or if its bad because it makes amazong a viable choice lol
@ashen spindle https://www.reddit.com/r/hardware/comments/12bepr0/lgs_and_samsungs_upcoming_oled_monitors_include/
HOLY MOTHER
why link to a reddit post thats a link, just link to TFT directly
nah, you could hit 1k fps one some cases on tf2 maps (not consistently ofc)
oh yeah lmao
Also csgo and valorant
Oh dear adobe, this didn't start off well
the dynamic resolution looks interesting
oh I think you are thinking of something else
Oh then nvm
so csgo at esports mode, anything else at 4k or similar
Yeah
I just hope they do think about using BFI at those refresh rates if they can make it brighter
480hz oled with BFI and good brightness, that would be so nice
Idk about that, I'd love that for osu
for BFI I would consider 240hz minimum and even without it can be really nice on some indies/older AAA games
As long at they don't have engine limits/quirks at high fps
if they fix the text support so the oled panels have nice clear text + no burn in that 480hz 27" oled is going to be sweet
Free frames inc
idk if we get new pixel arrangements with these updated panels
I think we need QNED or similar to have the same pattern as before
ohh i didnt even notice one thing
thats a 4k ultrawide with 16hz on LGs roadmap
niceeee
45" though, that's going to be something massive lol
Idk what monitor I should get for my next setup, I could go with a large single qd oled
Or multiple 27 inch
since I have a large qdoled with a second screen, I can tell you both is also an option
Lol
I have a single 27" 1440p 240hz and two 1080 24"
i don't know if i'd go single monitor oled right now if you're working on it
assuming you mean the latest lg/samsung panel where the text isn't that great
Both 1080p on portrait mode
also text is fine for me on qdoled, it's really dependent on what you do, how far way and if you use something like mactype etc.
Considering I prefer pixel density id use it at the visual acuity distance
So about 2 and a half feet away
idk what that is in real units, I'm sitting at like 70cm away from it
About .8 meters
The thing is the amount of screen retail I'd get with something larger would be really nice

He can smell the subpixels
Then again there's also that really nice cooler master display 4k 165hz
The tempest GP27U
32" is probably the sweet spot for 4k
yeah i'd go 32" for 4k personally
For 32 inches the visual acuity distance is 2ft
then you keep that same-ish pixel density of 1440p at 27" and 24" 1080p
That would be ideal but what are some good monitors that size?
I'd prefer high refresh rate too
that's the tricky part I guess, i haven't kept as up to date with 32" monitors but i remember last years batch of 32" 4k had issues with latency not being great vs the 27" options
think the 4k240hz samsung VAs are 32
with the good VA, not the smeary VA panels
neo g8
So ig the best option I have is one of the lg woled which will be releasing q3 2024
At that point just get multiple monitors
And get that thing that kinda merges the bezels
I like 2 horizontal and 1 vertical
Nice to have one vertical for long sheets and things like that
Right now I'm running 3 displays but I just rarely use more than one at a time
One vertical to the left of my main monitor and one 50" Tv as kind of a home theater display
I have discord and telegram permanently up on one monitor
And music permanently up on the other
Portrait great for long playlist
I also run my ipad pro 12" as a display underneath my main monitor for color work
So technically 4 display setup
Although it's jank
Hell naw
I mean it is a great monitor regardless
It is good but not worth the money, and it's also not the most compatible with windows
Also no high refresh rate
lololol asus rog ally only got shown to two people and other youtubers make videos speculating about it and it's clear they are just salty lmfao
did think it was the usual april fools turned marketing survey but seems like they did actually work on it for longer
that would be something I'd consider over a steamdeck due to better performance and better screen
Salty about being a liability

The people who did get shown it literally had rog staff in the room as they were recording
Yeah and arguments like most games won’t hit 120hz on it at 1080p
Like
Yeah no shit
That’s not making it a bad thing to have though lol
Like the steam deck would be able to hit those performance numbers
The ally is just a general improvement all around
In general I'd say the thing that makes the most difference is the cooling solution
zen4 as cpu is just so great to boost low power gains
cooling just makes it even better
My friend who owns a steam deck had asked me once whether it's possible to fix the whiny fan in his deck and I'm like, not really possible to do that on the deck normally
goign to make it weird though, will steam deck be used like series S for base spec for some game configurations
or do they just ignore the other handhelds or will steamdeck get second class treatment if valve dont upgrade it
@final flame
I am yet to understand what this is for
Another new Moondrop product
At this point Moondrop has something new every week, it's insane
Well that's the chifi market for you
From what it looks like it's a Bluetooth adapter for iems
I don't see why you'd ever need something like that
Wireless adapter for iems more of the LG tone or Samsung level style
But.. why
Like.. why?
You don't need this unless your phone does not have a 3.5mm jack and even then, stupid dongles
🤷 significantly better battery life and mic, as well as being able to fit far more powerful equipment
Have you tried for example biking with wired iems?
I have wore nothing but Sony wired headphones for years straight every day
While doing activities?
These little shits
Runs, bikes, uni, school, commute, etc
For years
Daily
These gave out sadly a few years back
I had virtually no problems with these being wired
That's why I don't get the need for these "bluetooth adapters"
The idea is you retain sound quality white getting the convenience of bluetooth
I get it but at the same time, not really
🤷 cables get tangled and you are distance limited
My phone magnets onto my bike, with normal length headphone cables it wouldn't reach
I never found the wire bad or that it gets in the way
But boy those 30$ Sonys lasted me many years and honestly, are a bit underrated
Sound quality now that I look back was very meh
at home I use wired headphones on my computer
For example when watching yt vids it's convenient to be able to walk away from the phone to do chores
on the go I have a pair of linkbuds s, or cheapo sony over-ear bluetooth
I have a 10 foot extension cable for my headphones/iems at my desk, but that's just not convenient everywhere
I currently use a fiio m6 as a Bluetooth receiver on the go
I used a Samsung level u pro for a while and it was pretty nice
You take the phone with you and listen on speakers?
That's an easy solution
Ye, I've got a fiio btr3k that i use as a remote aux jack sometimes, tho now i mostly use wfxm4, cra+az09, sal zero+utws3
Nightmarishly worse sound quality and the sound changes while walking around
Uses ldac too
I rather like my linkbuds so far
not sure I'd spend that money on a pair of earbuds myself, but was a nice gift
doing a 2 hr drive on studded tires this friday, that noise cancellation will be much appreciated
The donut ones or the normal ones?
the later s version
Ah
So far I'm enjoying my er2, only issue I have with etymotics is their fix can be quite inconsistent
My starfields rn their vents are kinda blocked up so you're getting a lot of that crinkly driver sound when inserting them
So I've stopped using them for now
Apparently blue tack is good for cleaning the vents but I don't have any on me
my main gripe is sony limiting their app/personalization in weird ways like not letting you set up the touch controls
like why should I have to choose between ambient/nc toggle and leaving two tap gestures unused or just volume/playback gestures and nothing else
Yup
Same issue on xm4
not a dealbreaker to me but still annoying and makes little sense
I take back what I said about Logitech quality. My scroll wheel literally goes the wrong way half the time now. After ... 4 months of use 😄
What Logi mouse you got?
Now that's hot but that probably isn't right. Just complain to the Logi support team and they might do something about. Build quality issues like that aren't that common I don't think
I mean, on a expensive mouse like that I would complain lol
Oh I did. Took 24 hours for them to go "yet - defect. Ask retailer to replace" 😄
If I said I told you so I would be very toxic so I'm just gonna keep quiet.
wait
woops
Now I just gotta wait for the seller to respond back to whether or not I can put down a deposit to get a replacement while the original is shipped back.
Where did you buy from in the first place?
sounds like eBay
Bol in Clogland.
Gosh, I have never heard of Bol before... I just buy from Amazon or eBay because the very least you know you have your ass covered if you have an issue such as that. But I would assume the company will give you a replacement
i managed to frick up my stock glides on the 2nd day and now i've ordered corepads
Sounds like bol.com which is a dutch amazon clone basically, and a reason it took quite some time for amazon to come here
I need to search this Bol...
So question. Do you use stock skates or aftermarket?
:)
On the underside? Stock. I have a deskmat.
Either way, manufacturers of these things dumping all responsibility on the retailers kind of sucks, even af legally speaking you should always be able to turn to your retailer.
Well a lot of manufacturers say, you can also directly deal with us if you prefer
which often is the faster option, especially online
Sure - But that's outside of EU warranty. They try to catch you under THEIR, much worse warranty.
So proceed with caution.
Well dutch warranty is not that great, first 6 months they have to proof you broke it after that until a reasonable life expectancy you have to proof it's a defect.
Actually the implementation depends on the countryt
Those are the EU minimums.
If a country does more they're welcome. But they literally cannot offer worse.
In the netherlands there is no clearly defined term beyond the 6 months, so if you buy some insanely cheap pos it would stand to reason that after 6 months it's done whereas an expensive laptop may be expected to last at least 3.
It just isn't clearly defined so in practice after 6 months it's either manufacturer warranty, or up to the mercy of the retailer.
It's always a case by case thing. Which is why we have consumer rights orgs who decapitate retailers trying to bend the rules too hard. 😄
In practice most manufacturers offer 2 years because some eu countries do demand that, so that's mostly the standard.
Rule of thumb is : Within first six months seller has to justify within reason that the defect was not present at time of sale, and that the buyer specifically had to have damaged it outside of normal use.
Reverse rule for the remaining 18 months.
Still having the option to go to the manufacturer isn't bad, especially if you order from some amazon seller or similar.
Warranty from the seller only works if the seller still exists.
In theory? No. It fucks with your law given rights though.
@reef patrol could you go to #archived_wooting_60he channel and help me out with this
Pls
Nope. I have absolutely no clue about double movement.
i want a steam deck like controller
but why
"Here's a battery, better for the earth than dozens and dozens of regular AAs"
Sigh, Plex sync does not seem to work the way i want.
I wish watch data etc was global
Question is: Did they use Hall Effect joysticks?
Joysticks are always the first things to go on these controllers, HE ones would help prolong the life and thus be better for the Earth. On that note, how hard is it to replace joysticks in these controllers?
When do they make an Elite Controller 3 with HE joysticks? My Elite Controller 1 is starting to really show its age.
Inb4 $300
Yes
Then you not also feel so remorseful when it breaks down
Just get an 8bitdo Ultimate bluetooth version with hall effect
They're fucking excellent
Lol
8bitdo is a great company
Their Pro 1/2 controllers are fantastic
They have better Dpads than Xbox or Sonys at least
Lol didd you really say the duke had good ergonomics?
You gotta be a troll
It's clicky, not really ideal
For a D-pad
It' neat and different, the controller is also 100$++
The Core Controller is the elite without the full accessories
Xbox naming as usual
Regardless, regular Xbox Dpad is worse than DS4/DualSense
Best dpad
It makes me wish the abxy buttons were better
Elite 1 I think has that dpad
Dual sense has 4 separate mushy buttons
Unfortunate
Well now they are all about triggers and vibration
But I will say that extra set of vibration motors on the Xbox controllers in the triggers feel good too even if they are not fancy
Yeah it feels like the arrows keys of an controller
Of course on a controller it has a smaller area, needs to be compact and also function well
Cuz of Sony?
Oh
I think a few games do the samish by Bethesda publiahing
Prey I think has a similar feature
Atomic heart I would have imagined would have something like that
But I think it has two versions
I do not recall if one is tied to the dpad really
Cuz I think the joystick and a bumper is use for a wheel
And the dpad left and right is for weapon selection and you only really get three max
I mean honestly it is fine if you have a ton of stuff
But the y button works fine too
Some game cannot recall has primaries as tap
And secondary at holf
Oh wait a minute I remember
Ghost recons wildlanda
Yeah but campaign in halo is weird
The equipment is the dpad😵💫
Not only that the weapons are cool tooo
I need to reinstall it sometime maybe it will run fine on arc
I wish I could say the same for infinite
But like it feels like a mostly a baron area
You can probably count that up from reach to 5
Well try at least 4 some time
It will not be so uh strange feeling I guess
Like you cannot really die in 5
Your armour just locks up
Reach is great yes
Just thinking about it now I wish it had an expansion
Like something about the original trilogy
Made each one feel long and fufulling
Not that reach was not
But maybe it was just the abilities
Maybe reach also felt more linear
Yeah that was it I think
Let's move to #🎮│game
Halo has a very vertical feeling in design.
Helped in part by crosshair being below the screen's centre sp yoi would always be looking slightly up which was especially good on those old tiny low res displays. Just fantastic level design manipulated such that you always got a good look at it
H4 changed art styles, and was then held back strongly by the 360s hardware. Since a lot of the ol artists went to Destiny it seemed to lose a bit of charm.
Xone had some great environmental designs, but the campaign was god awful to the point you just didn't care.
Halo Infinite had only one biome. Which really impacted how the campaign felt I think since each place visited looked about the same. I think the Xbone also held back its ambitions preventing the devs from making something truly stunning. E.g. phantoms now just poof from existence rather then leaving a corpse. Something Halo 3 did now lost depite 2 generations of hardware changes
yea but what about https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WpcjkDDLoXM
Here is my latest project : a tech demo showing the first two levels of the classic PC game, Unreal (1998), remade for my own custom Sega Saturn engine - the same one I wrote for Hellslave. This is my entry for the Sega Xtreme 2023 Saturn homebrew competition.
For obvious legal reasons, I won't port the whole game - I never planned to go beyond...
What? Halo specifically has really bad level design
The halo devs even admit to this
And if you play through Halo 1 especailly you see it quite often
They claim they were rushed and had to start copy and pasting basic box rooms
The Library is also one of the worst levels in gaming, being the same room for an hour over and over. They literally apologize for it lol
I have no mouth, and I must Kreed.

The Library was a bad yeah, but most the rest of the game was great. Just beautiful graphics for the time. The Library was a poop stain though
best misuse of an engine
a kart racer on a modified doom engine
wait was myth real time 3d?
man I just want to find the engien for the original myth
but I only get an fnf mod or black myth wukong
ne journey to the west avail
seems uhh
odd
wait
now I remember why I thought it wasn't real time 3d

confused it with mist

To be fair they did make a 3D realtime version of Myth.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SGknUiihpkI on a similar note
Quake Rally by Impact Developments, 1997.
I wasn't planning on including mods in this playlist, but some mods need covering! Quake Rally is one of those mods!
Ryan "Ridah" Feltrin and Rowan "Sumaleth" Crawford managed to turn first person shooter into a rally game, of sorts. Yet retained weapons (for some deathmatch action) as well as a bonus ...
this mod was pretty fun in multiplayer
controls were a bit jank, you basically steered by looking in the direction you wanted to go
did he do anything specific with quake?
don't think he released anything, but I recall something about him starting out doing levels/mods on various fps of the era
woulda been kinda hard to ignore quake at the time even if you just played it
Hey even on PC Halo's graphics were great
However Gearbox fucked up the port and broke bump mapping making all the surfaces look flat
prob
yeah he was with 3D realms for some time
yea he was with 3d realms pre opposing force
funnily enough none of the good maps randy worked on were finished by him
yeah he made a lot of shadow warrior maps...halfway
has wooting done tests on how long lekker magnetic switches last?
For instance
The answer depends on the magnet. A temporary magnet can lose its magnetization in less than 1 hour. Neodymium magnets lose less than 1% of their strength over 10 years. Permanent magnets such as sintered Nd-Fe-B magnets remain magnetized indefinitely.
What kind of magnets do the lekker switches use?
lifespan 100,000,000 clicks
Has like a test been done for this figure or how was it determined?
What is lifetime defined as in the context of a magnetic switch? The magnet losing its magnetic properties?
it got to that point and kept going so they just went with it
wouldn't worry about magnets going bad for like 50 years at the very least
yeah but like
how do i interpret this, i dont understand what lifetime means in the context of a magnetic switch
since there is no mechanical wear unlike other switches
outside of like the spring
realistically the spring won't break
yeah but like
how did they get the 100m figure
a testing machine
they won't rate it higher cause it would take ages to get a number to certifiably get significantly over that
from what I heard they tested until 100m and called it a day
basically
no real use testing further really
fair enough
I don't think the test actually goes that far. I would assume it does a fraction of that and extrapolates based on the wear over a certain amount of clicks or period on time on an average.
Yes they tested 10 presses, then extrapolated it to 100M.

Poor attempts at trolling aside, doing a hundred million clicks would take forever. And I doubt even Gateron does that in practice when doing any kind of new design or adjustment, since it would require months upon months of testing each time.
Clicker
I'm out ATM but it's like this but on an industrial scale
It rapidly presses and tests
Got it, thank toy
You*
Was just mildly confused at how the figure was obtained
Of course real life mileage may vary, depending on a lot of factors.
I bet that makes damn good coffee
for a second I thought it was some drink dispenser

or go down the DIY route
I am traveling to Super Nintendo World, but I see the reports about a potential Vita 2, and I would definitely scope down those expectations. I've only ever heard about a cloud-streaming handheld.
