depending on the switches he has, any keycap set that is made to fit that switch will work. I assume they look like something like this, so any set which says 'cherry profile' should fit

moving profiles over from 60HE to 80HE is a bit jank still too, I mean I know some keys will be left empty/unbound but there's also some missing binds and colors on keys within the 60% cluster when run on the 80HE

not sure what you mean by buying a second set of switches to go w the second set of key caps, if your partner wants to replace the keycaps he’d have to remove the switches anyway, the difference between the 60 and 45 is the difference in weight essentially, how much resistance you feel when pushing down on a switch
