They probably got those from other sources. Most keycaps are compatible cause HE switches have MX style stems (which look like +) so if you make sure your keycap sets are compatible with MX stems, you should be okay

Try removing them, or at least seeing if they're sticky

We've removed these pads from the third batch and forward, they don't really make any difference and can lead to that stickiness problem

there's some box stem options like ttc magneto/magneto rgb/magneto pom, but those are $1 per switch and feel wise not everyone likes box stem
