lots of things you can do, get geon raw he switches, different case, maybe different mounting style like rubber o ring or burger mount, tapemod, add stuff into the interior like poly fill etc, change out switch plate

Does anyone one know if the 80he mode profile switch only changes between 2 profiles? On wootility It looks like you can save up to 4 profiles but when I save the profiles and press the mode button it seems to only cycle through 2 of my profiles and not all 3 that I have currently saved.

The MODE keybind hops between profile 1 and whichever of the others you last used. Change that to CYCLE and they all go in order.

Can also bind specific profiles.

all you need to know is that iso does not come with preinstalled keycaps so if you added keycaps to your order, youll get the keycaps in the box separate from the keyboard and youll need to put them on yourself

I just unplugged it, let it sit for 1 min and then switched to tachyon mode and started pressing E/O and it fixed them and they stop at 3.25 mm now and when you bottom out it skips to 4.00 mm. Hopefully they can improve the firmware to recognize the real bottom out value instead of skipping to 4.0. BTW there was a firmware update today.

FW designed for lekkers with 4.00 travel length. Geon RAWs are shorter so the fw bottoms out from 3.25-->4.00 instantly because it doesn't recognize these aren't 4.00. They need an actuation adjuster in wootility for non-lekkers

It’s a visual issue, we tell the distance by a min and max voltage number received by the hall sensor, then making it s linear line from for example 0-100.

We can’t tell the actual distance of the switch. We can tell the “relative” steps in mm based on the steps in voltage change.

However, when we need to visualize it, we expect it to read 4mm at max.

That is calibration getting to work. It needs to linearize the curve and the distance of switch changed. It assumes 4mm is end of press.

On the 80HE, depending on the switch, it might not happen because we still need to customize the voltage reference for the calibration. The 80HE has a different voltage range.

It stays calibrated once it’s done. It basically senses the magnetic flux change when you use it and auto calibrates it

The voltage delta is 0-100 based on the flux but regardless the visual indicator of it bottoming out at 4.00 for geons is wrong and needs to be fixed in the fw. This was acknowledged by calder today. The switches resetting in idle however isn't something that should be happening.

GMK is decent quality keycaps, but can run expensive, PBT is a type of plastic keycaps (blend of ABS) and ABS is the other kind

The keys auto calibrates in 3 ways. When you first turn it on it quick calibrates, then later it deep calibrates based on your usage of the keys. It’s supposed to go from 0-4mm because as I’ve said the 0-4mm is actually 0-100% press - so it’s a visual number thing that has to be updated but you want it to be acting the way it does now

It’s because that’s when your keyboard has done deep calibration

So now it treats the 0-3.4mm movement correctly in wootility

The only thing that needs to be updated there is the switch selector will change the visual display to say 0-3.4mm

When it hasn’t deep calibrated yet at first it is confused because the keyboard starts up assuming you have lekkers inside it with 4mm travel

So when you put in raw he and hit the 4mm mark magnetic flux earlier it gets confused and has to recalibrate - that’s what auto calibration does. It makes it so the keyboard will correctly read the 0-3.4mm fully instead of jumping up at the end of the press

TLDR - what you’re experiencing is called end of press calibration and it’s normal and supposed to happen

The only thing that shouldn’t happen is they need the switch selector so it changes the wootility readout to 0-3.4mm so people aren’t confused

fyi not all the keys will autocalibrate 0-4mm, only the ones it has data on from usage

it's why for example wasd keys will be autocalibrated and stop jumping from 3.25 to 4mm after it's done a better end of press calibration from using it playing games, but for example your arrow keys might not be if you didn't use them (so arrow keys will still show the jump from 3.25-4mm and your wasd won't)

this is why calder is talking about the switch selector etc. If you have a switch selector you can start off already having the keyboard know your raw he switches are inside - so it autocalibrates from a better starting point

(that and you have also make it change the visual indicator in wootility to 0-3.4mm if you have a switch selector)

I pressed every single key mult times to calibrate it. Before the video right before calder showed up, every key showed 3.25-4.00 jump. Then later during the conversation I went to go check again and it was 0.00-4.00 visual curve after 5 mins of idle time. It switches like this mult times so yes we know its a visual curve issue but it should stick to one setting rather than jump back and forth. That's why I mentioned earlier there needs to be a manual actuator per swtich and calder basically mentioned they're working on something like that as well where you pick the switch in wootility and then the visual element applies to it.

I'm not sure how to simplify this to explain it any more. Best I can do:

• 0 to 3.25 then 4mm jump in analog tool is normal at first because keyboard is thinking you're using lekkers on start up (but you're using raw he with a different bottom out distance)
• Keyboard uses key presses to auto calibrate the end point > this causes your analyser tool to now read the switches correctly > you'll stop seeing the 3.25 to 4mm jump
• On keys that haven't been used as much it won't do this magnetic calibration because it doesn't have the usage data yet

you're confusing it 'sticking to one setting' because you're using the analog tool. It's not jumping around, it's calibrating and this needs to happen

analog tool is just reading the 0-100% value

after the keyboard has info it calibrates and this happens non stop, all the time

the only thing that needs to be updated is they want to add a switch selector tool so that people like yourself don't get confused by the jumping around from calibration and so it just reads 3.4mm the whole time

it doesn't switch back and forth. It switches once to be clear - after it has data and has calibrated the end of press correctly

To clarify for people confused about switch selector it will basically:

• Allow the starting point for the keyboard to not have the jump from 3.25 > 4mm in analog tool because it will know that you're using raw he at the start (the current jump in analog tool is because the keyboard starts off thinking you're using lekkers)
• It will change the wootility readout from 0-4mm to 0-3.4mm (or whatever the travel of the switch you select)
• It will still do the autocalibration, but it won't need to do such a massive calibration fix like before because it starts off closer to the correct estimated magnetic flux values for 0-100% press

it's why one of the selling points for some of the pricier switches is that they have a smaller range of tolerance for the magnets

so the +- possible is smaller and it helps the autocalibration tools not to have calibrate as much

end of the day this is kind of why HE firmware/software requires so much work and why some of the dodgier HE boards with poor software sometimes feel less precise or have weird inputs at times because their autocalibration (or worse no auto calibration) is doing something incorrect or imprecisely and the board isn't adjusting the way it should

yeah it's why I'm pretty harsh on brands that show a lack of developer work or proficiency because it usually translates to really scuffed autocalibration and other behaviours. Like in the time you were gone you know they discovered drunkdeers tachyon mode was increasing release key latency by 10ms? It's been fixed since then but only because people found it and told them

a lot of scuffed HE software doesn't show up it's issues in just casual gameplay and such, so a lot of the cheap brands get away with the issues, but when you use it for a long time in more precise games you start to notice them more

Mate, I got what you say... I was super used to have the volume knob of the g915... and yeah, you don't have that on the 80he, but you know, our brain is all about habits. I remap the FN layer to have all the mute, volume+-, play/pause/next/previous buttons the same way is layed out on my Laptop
