China is quite big, and there are crappy us/eu factories too

its incompatible. but you will most likely also not ever need a smaller board. since all components are on the backside making a super low profile case is hard if not impossible anyway as the backside isnt flat. the only real way to get a super flat case would make the forehead of the case bigger so the daughterboard sits behind the pcb not under it (which should be possible with out included cable as well)

The PET film inside acts like a tape mod and is pre-installed. So that achieved the majority of the work already. But since it has holes it allows the adhesive to work better and is less thick for the entire module as it sits against the PCBA.

Saying it is 'better' is still a personal preference really. What we've done with the PET film is something that achieved what we wanted, without it the keyboard sounds more 'flat'. But we know people will mod anyway as they want to tweak to their own liking.
So for those, I still decide to do the mod so they can see if they should put in the extra effort or not.
