Like sharkdingo said, the V2s are supposedly a bit more stable than the originals.
I think the board comes with L60 V2s, which need more force to press compared to L45

Easy to replace, no, since the PCBA has a water resistant coating

If you have a defective LED on arrival, it would be replaced with a new unit. Between 30 days and 2 years, a dead LED would be replaced with a new PCBA. After 2 years it gets tricky

If the case is that your product is outside of the warranty period, then you will need to remove the conformal coating with isopropyl alcohol and will need some soldering equipment to replace it.

I work in the electronic manufacturing industry. I'm responsible for customer claims that come from the field. In order for me to confirm the defect I have to swap the faulty component to prove to the client that the module works after replacing it.

Which is categorically untrue. It'll come right off if picked at. Whether or not that is the best approach is a different topic. Soaking the entire PCB in IPA is very much out of the scope for most DIY repairs however, and would leave the rest of the board fragile to future damage.

However most customers will ask a repair shop to do this for them - And the price usually exceeds what buying a replacement PCBA from us is.

I was merely proving a point about the resistance of the protective coating. It really isn't that hard. It's not like it's a hardened resin epoxy or anything. It is a light coat that keeps water from reaching the sensitive parts of most of the board in case of a coffee or soda spill.

The PCB isn't waterproof by any means. The USB C connector and the programming pins near the spacebar have to be left unprotected. So don't go dipping the keyboard in the pool and expect it to survive that if powered on, before you do a thorough clean and dry.

If in doubt ask a pro.

In general your eyes adjust to the general brightness and with a dark theme light letters bleed a bit in the surrounding background, dark letters on a light background do not.

Just a general way the eyes work.
Dark themes have benefits in ledigbility for when you cannot match screen brightness to the environment.
And they can look nicer, but in general the way your eyes work they should not be easier / more comfortable to read otherwise.

Of course the benefits of using a light theme may be limited depending on the person.

I feel like they may be looking into this as they mention fighting games in their founders campaign video and on their product page. They understand how amazing this technology would be for the FGC. I bought a Wooting kit just to see if I can CNC a faceplate to accommodate a leverless layout. Unfortunately I think I may have to use keycaps instead of the 25mm buttons I wanted to use. Getting the spacing down is just impossible without modifying the PCB. Last time I played fighting games with keycaps was probably around 2006 or 7, so I'll have to get used to it.

i hope so keycaps are just not it you need buttons.. and the layouts are quite fixed by now the actuation would be a killer for fighting games.. you could build in double tap in every button just by adding a middle acutationpoint + bottomout one or rapiddtrigger and bottoming out in addition so many usecases

With plastic you can't make the wrong choice it later on costs30 more while zink costs later on 10 more and you have the plastic case on top.. So always go with plastic and add zink later if your not sure

Actually for me plastic sounds better and I'm not alone

Metal cases tend to make the sound nore crisp while plastics dampens which makes it sound deeper more creamy

BUT i love the touch weight and quality feel which kinda is annoying.. So I'm trying plastic hoping it grows to me.. I wish they would go the cheap road and release some Alu cover becouse for me that would be the best of both worlds

I tried to make it so that all of the layouts and versions sell out of the first batch as close to the same time as possible.
In the EU, over half of the SKUs still have units available in the first batch, with less than 1.2% of keyboards remaining
In the US, the all the SKUs have some units remaining in the first batch, with less than 3% of the batch left.

I'd say that's pretty spot on, probably be all gone by the end of the day

What aspects of the HE80 have you found disappointing so far, yet you still decided to order it?

For me:

The LED bar is too prominent and it lacks a touch function for volume control.(missed oppertunity - It's missing a control knob.)
The empty space next to the 'up' key appears awkward.
I would prefer a cable for gaming and wireless for office work.
