I think you need to contact support, apparently some founders pre orders from the April campaign were accidentally categorised wrong. There's a pin about it in the wooting 80HE channel. I say this as I've also been waiting over 6 months nearly for my keeb to arrive only to have it delayed to December 😭 so glad I'm a founder haha

yes it's a switch pack bug with their system. If you haven't mentioned in your email, ask them to move you back to the earlier switch pack batch because your switch batch was moved to wrong batch when they corrected the free founders switches

Here’s some interior shots for ya. I blew the case out and other than the initial tear down I’ve not touched the bottom so any little thing you see is either stuck in the paint or marked in the paint. I’ll also just let it be known I’m not bothered whatsoever. I chose not to hold and I have a black case and a plastic too. Hopefully their V2 white is… white and clean’ish.

To be fair the latching design for the zinc case shouldn’t be a thing. It seems like they just copy and pasted the mold from the PCR to the Zinc or vise versa. The front tabs that latch onto the front are usually always only seen on plastic cases.

Yeah PCR and Zinc literally have an identical mold, the only difference all of the ledges where the gaskets / pcb sit they removed the "roofs" of them on the PCR so it's hollow and the zinc being solid and the outer edge is removed as there's no need for force-break pads. They could've and should've added like three tiny standoffs lining the front on the zinc case and ditched this latching bs.

And lets be honest. the plastic case is comically thin haha.

Referring to the video from BMA earlier: Is that a common issue with the Zinc Alloy? Is it really just the white case and the black one doesn't seem to be effected? I really do not want to have to wait till January 2025 and then ship it right back and get that fixed...

It's not common. The painted chip happens rarely and can happen unfortunatly with every painted item. The scratches is more of a 'how do you handle your zinc case yourself' kinda deal. I understand if people would like to wait for an improved version, but there's never a 100% guarantee unfortunately.

A different question entirely, my order got put on hold as I added a wrist rest to that order. How much time do I roughly have before my order gets put in an entirely different batch, which is what I am trying to prevent?

The issue BMA had I guess I will have to wait till January to find out if I have said issue and probably go from there.

Just an FYI - two things regarding this video ^ :

1. Wooting needs to move on to a better more efficient means of coloring cases.. This seems like it's just a very fine mist spray paint, I don't really think any surface coating would do anything other than to prolong it keeping the same shade.

Having to put orders on hold, offer store credit, accept warranty claims etc. To me, in the end, a much nicer surface finish like Ano or PC would be more reliable and cost effective.

2. Per the video, very bad design to have the three L shaped teeth / latches on the front of a CAST zinc case. The only way to remedy this issue in the video is by physically pushing or pulling that area while the top of the case is off to "stretch" it out a bit and it does fit a bit better, do NOT bother trying to bend the individual latches because the paint will come off because it's so thin and there's a 99% chance they will snap off. Would have been infinitely better to add three individual standoffs & screws in place of the latches as there's ample space to do so.

Pretty certain Wooting already knows everything that went wrong with this Zinc case. BUT for a first-time alloy case it's a lot better than most I've seen.

Mix and matching the cases won’t work. Mix and matching the white and black zinc cases would but not a plastic piece with a zinc piece.

The zinc case has a ledge revision around the bottom portion for force break pads. I’ll try it when I get home but having looked at everything closely it’s highly unlikely they would go to together.

Zinc case is flat all around the wall, placing a force break pad every so often. The plastic it’s not flat it extends further up like a literal wall.

@quick jewel ESP is what is most commonly used today outside of Ano and rarely Cera, they call it "Spray Coating" as it's easy translation but it's ESP. 80HE's are physically Spray Painted with a normal spray gun similar to a can of spray paint because ESP would be ineffective with their zinc alloy.
