Yeah, Cacos can despawn with FX (and animation, if I remember right). Never saw others do it. Wonder, if possible to apply this code to other enemies or is it for flying only.

Do you have 1/2 Runes in ARC Complex by any chance? This bug happens sometimes. Unfortunately, best way to bypass it is to finish ARC level without dying and get both Runes.

Well to be fair i have a lot and i mean a lot of hours in the reboot trilogy , and i did a sh*t load of nightmare runs each game before even attempting ultra nightmare

It is not massively over difficult, lot of deaths are down to environment stuff or off screen attacks or bad luck

The more you keep at it, the better you will get, and the more strategic with combos you will become. I found targeting the right demons first in large waves had the biggest impact for me.

A question I've been asking since I played Doom 2016 and still haven't found an answer to is:
Why did Samuel Hayden allow Vega to be destroyed at the end of Vega Central, even though he knew Vega was the father?
Was he sure that Slayer would back him up or was he really waiting for him to be destroyed?

The UAC plays Rust, Dust & Guts as well. However, it never gets to the actual drop even on higher difficulties I believe

Res Ops does this too to an extent with Flesh & Metal (I believe), with it playing a lot harder in The Well

The UAC also plays the intro to Damnation at the start, and Dr. Samuel Hayden during the first cutscene as well as the Olivia hologram at the start

Can't forget about the lovely Lazarus Waves inclusion

So i recently replayed Doom 2016 on Ultra-Violence to become Not Rusty™ and now i'm replaying it on Nightmare, and it's always interesting to me how once i replay the game on Ultra-Violence, playing Nightmare after that is much more comfortable than it is when i just play Nightmare after having not played the game in a while. It's also the case that I'm not actually that good at the game (I am good at it but not as good as you might think). It's just that there's things in the game that allow you to sort of get around not being very good at it. A thing i take advantage of is the upgrade that makes powerups fully heal you. If i'm at low health and there's a powerup in that arena, i can grab it, save myself from dying, and fuck shit up in the process. Also, Doom Eternal officially introduced the concept of weapon combos to the Doom franchise, but you can actually do it just as easily in Doom 2016. In fact, in Doom 2016 it's somewhat free flowing, in that you can juggle many different weapons in order to save ammo and depending on what makes sense to use in that moment. So i might use lock-on rockets, then swap to the heavy assault rifle to shoot micro missiles, immediately switch to the gauss cannon, all to kill one beefy foe, and then also switch to the shotgun to fire an explosive round to kill a cluster of imps. And a lot of weapon mods have cooldowns, but swapping to another weapon makes it much easier to deal with. Also the chainsaw became a central part of the combat loop in Doom Eternal, but in 2016 it's there as a tool you can use if you suck at the game and waste a lot of ammo, like me. I pour my Argent Energy into health first (bc i suck at the game and need the health) so i tend to run low on ammo a lot in the early-mid game. Also some foes like pinkies are kinda annoying to take out normally so i chainsaw if i can. Also the hologram equipment is OP bc it effectively makes foes shoot a target that is not you for a while. Perfect on Nightmare. But yeah :3

Oh also siege mode on the gauss cannon is OP, but the tradeoff is that you have to stand still for a bit before you can shoot it. I get around that by double jumping to the side and starting the activation in midair, so i’m still moving as it charges up, and once i land, it’s done charging and i can fire

It went from the Siege being way too ammo efficient for how much damage it dealt, to the destroyer blade, the replacement, being only slightly cheaper but a lot weaker (though the siege did need a nerf. I'm glad they didn't try to majorly change it up retroactively and mostly kept the game the same though)

I should play 2016 again. I think the environments especialy have really stood up, and despite it not being the same as the originals, I really liked the sort of more alien face to the mancubi.
I dunno why the mancubus's face in particular has been messed with almost the most out of its design. The cannons have changed up a lot but the face of the original is almost human. Maybe that's why they've tried out alternate faces for it over changing up the other parts more majorly.

I say almost the most because the form the cannons take has varied a lot, though they are still cannons, even when they're... what were they in 2016 again? Chitinous growths? I think that's what it was, like siphoning discharge from the stomach bile, and then blasting it, with the cyber variant just going straight for the stomach bile.
I liked it, I kinda wish that they give the "cyber" moniker to the more classic mancubus, and then let a mancubus similar to the 2016 ones take the role of being the ones spewing bile, I think it'd really work.

There's also a lot less non projectile attacks beyond 2016, I think they're afraid of it, if it's not like something you have time to dodge the way out of and it doesn't track you.
I liked them though, they had to be a bit incompetent for you to be able to dodge them but with stuff like the weak point system they definitely could have shown up elsewhere

My pc freezes up a lot too sometimes but usually it's like the game isn't responding, it's borderless fullscreen so it sucks and you can't get rid of it, and it doesn't let you open anyting, including task manager, or force close the window, so I just gotta hold the power button down

It would be annoying but if it's not that many sticks you could try removing the old ones and leaving one of the new ones in, and which one makes it crash due to not lagging a bunch is the culprit

I say "not lagging a bunch" because if you take out multiple sticks you're probably gonna get the 16 to correspond to your fps

I hope you can try getting a refund on the faulty ones though, that definitely sucks

Yeah, they probably could have just used them in place of the chaingunners, would have made a bit more sense 'cause like where were the zombie's with chainguns before. But with the demons just say they hadn't gotten there yet becuase the last time they were present was on MARS, and in the hell sections of 2016, which the exact areas weren't revisited so you could say that they weren't in those areas.
Also the soldiers in 2016 look a lot more melted than the more zombified ones from eternal, because well the lazarus wave thing didn't exactly happen on earth (as far as I remember) and that wave is why they look like that, so hey maybe the parasite that makes the hell razers isn't as good as making them out of zombies than they are at making them out of what the 2016 soldiers are.

Maybe it's the same guys from 2016 they just took a while to get here, or they needed regular humans/whatever the 2016 soldiers qualify as

Even if it was still a dlc demon like the chaingunner, the conditions on reclaimed earth were better than during the initial invasion, but still definitely not as sanitary as regular conditions.

Honestly it feels like the most overblown and underwhelming demons from 2016 and eternal are the ones that were like the TRUE demons of the og games
the summoner/archvile's ability to summon, teleport, and launch walls of fire with the latter is strong, but compared to that original line of sight attack, the archvile is kind of a chump, and his sister the summoner had to die to git gud.
Pain elementals are just in eternal kind of just don't do much, honestly I wisht hey were aggressive as the cacodemons.
Chaingunners are like. I think they actually might have less hp than the standard soldiers given how much they get merked by a sticky bomb (and I know they would not survive a remote detonate in a million years)

the big demons that actually hold up the most feels like the baron, hell knight (in 2016 moreso), the pinky which feels kinda weird to call a "big demon" but he is now, at least, and the revenant, because you can't ignore the revenant in the new games.

the revenant might not be able to slap you with an 80 damage rocket anymore but he can make you feel like you got hit by one if you don't turn around and fight em

they're more annoying than just a danger but you do have to deal with them if they're in line of sight or it will hurt

it's not hard to break that line of sight a lot of the time due to level geometry, but it does leave you vulnerable in open spaces.
