1. I'm not sure why we argue then, if it's obvious.
2. Only in context of 2016: upgrades, again. Sure, it was hacked, but it doesn't mean suit is useless and Slayer can't unhack it - he just didn't have time to unhack it or ability to protect it.
3. Protection from environment and barrel damage, faster charges and 2 recharges for grenades, map stuff, faster swap/ledge grabbing, benifits from powerups (health, shockwave, duration), ability to upgrade health, armor, ammo (health upgrade increases low health drop %, ammo chainsaw kills agaist high tier enemies and more ammo, armor is just there, lol). Suit is needed for Runes and has 3 slots for it. Non direct: protection from fall damage, ability to get health, armor, ammo from enemies, protection from conditions of Mars/Hell.

and even then Eternal's can do it too.

Suit doesn't do his work as I said before, it just helps and not useless. Remarkable aspect is pure preference. I surely find it remarkable in a sense that it has own vibe compared to similar suits (like Halo one). If you don't like, it's fine - just call it uselss, while it has uses is weird.

I agree, it's going nowhere, but we just share opinions. It's fine not changing mind in this aspect for both of us, since most of discussed things are subjective in terms of weight for each of us. But it's not useless, that's my main argument.

There aren’t really any heavy demons that are all that threatening other than pinkies and hell knights, so except for a hell knight chainsaw or two in foundry and a couple pinky chainsaws in argent facility destroyed, I usually just chainsawed imps and soldiers, since they give the same amount of ammo anyways

Same with normal nightmare runs also, with the exception of barons sometimes because I usually play with a mod installed that buffs the shit out of them

Oh, and I would have probably chainsawed summoners since they’re relatively inexpensive to chainsaw for how annoying they can be, but I just DKSMSed them on sight, which is much easier

I found a really silly way to master Equipment Power. In the ARC Complex, while Hayden is exposition dumping all over the place, Doomguy puts away all his gear, including throwables. However, the counter for Equipment Power is still active. This means that you can mash the equipment button and master it instantly, because you aren't using the equipment but it still counts towards mastery.

I wonder if this could be useful during a speedrun, as it allows you to focus on mastering your other runes before and after.

If you want to - you can use this Rune for sure. But take into account that you may be killed right after animation of GK is ended, even before you are able to dodge attacks.
I played like that long ago, when I played vanilla. It's working, but not the best thing in my opinion.

Micro-missiles are good. If you find Plasma Rifle and modbot - take Stun Bomb Mod.
Grenades are good against Shield Soldiers same as both Micro Missiles and Explosive Shot, if to shoot/thow behind their back.
Hell Knights are just mid-tier tanks, which rushes you, so as Yuuritsu_Yumezora said you need to back up a little or move out of their way. You can use objects to circle around to confuse them a bit.

Hell knight can be defeated easily if u back up and shoot it with the shotgun explosive shots while the shield guys if u don't have a plasma rifle then just try going behind them or try using micro missiles on the shield takes loads of ammo tho

Hello everyone. When I play Doom, the game treats me as if I’m cheating. The game itself has devmode enabled, and in Steam’s launch options there is “+set devMode_enable 1”. There are a lot of optional encounters there, which you need to find. But if you don't want to run though encounters, right after you drop to Pinky intro door area there is area where was Gore Nest and now Berserk placed - therew would be Summoner, which infinitely summons Hell Knights and Hell Razers - you can kill them as much as you want without killing Summoner and grind all points you need.

Question for people knowledgable about 2016 ( im on PS5, should apply to PC with a controller i assume ) . When im selecting weapons from the wheel quickly occasionally I lose the ability to hot swap by pressing the bumper from certian weapons. For instance, I go SS to rocket to Cannon all on the wheel, then If i press R1 to instaswap from Cannon to Rocket It does nothing, and then the cannon cannot be switched out of by pressing R1. The lock only happens on that weapon and the only fix i found is exiting the level or death. Does anyone know why this bug occurs? Or how to un-freeze the weapon without dying or exiting ? Thanks!!

Judging by the first reveal trailer in 2014 for Doom 2016, was the game originally gonna have a similar atmosphere to Doom 3?

Technically, it does, but less so than what Doom 3 had.

And it was done away with by Eternal, since that game's artstyle is more like Classic Doom by comparison.

Like how Serious Sam 2 had a more cartoony artstyle, only for Serious Sam 3 to be more realistic.

Yeah, like they started it out as some COD/Crysis clone with demons. But thought "This is not what the fans want", and so they scrapped it and made the Doom 2016 we all know and love.

And also made Doom 3 BFG Edition which feels more like Doom 1 and 2 compared to vanilla Doom 3, at least when it comes to pacing.

Still crazy to me that Doom 4's impact is seen throughout all the later titles: RAGE 1 & 2, Wolfenstein TNO (it got the lean mechanic originally intended for D4), and all the modern Doom games.

At least for Wolfenstein, it makes more sense to have a lean mode and iron sights, but it's still balanced out by being able to dual wield and hold all the weapons.

So the whole oldschool boomer style gameplay is still intact, but more like what Doom 3 and Quake 4 did.

And actually, Croteam did make designs for the Hell Knight and Mancubus that would've gone to Doom 4, but when that got scrapped, they repurposed them for BFE.

Same thing true with those city levels. Croteam was originally contracted to make a more milsim kind of game but that idea also got scrapped.

Croteam was basically recycling things, which makes sense given how small they were back then. Even while being backed by Devolver.

Is there anyway to get rid of graphical artifacts during loading textures in snapmap mode on ps5? In campaign and multi it is non existent but in snapmap loading higher quality textures while you come closer causes flashing rectangles and squares for a few moments, its pretty annoying, also from smaller issues, splash screen of id tech during loading up the game is completely silent, any plans for small ps5 compatibility patch?

I mean you don't need to circle a lot at least in Foundry arenas, maybe with exception to final fight where you get chased by Hell Knights.
To avoid imps in such approach, I think it may be better to be closer to walls and not to rush areas, if there is a chance of being attacked from behind.

As for Insta killed after GK - no, no way, unfortunately. Try to GK tactically without chance to be attacked right after it. Even before you get control - you can be killed as soon sync ends.

Also regarding GKs - most dangerous from my experience are melee attacks (because close and hard to avoid), Imp charged fireballs, Plasma Soldier big plasma shots and Summoners waves, since these attacks either take time to charge, either made that they will continue even during GK, so you can be killed right after.

I would say it's not as fast paced as Eternal. You only get double jump, no sprint/dash or anything like that, but default speed is fine.
There are techs, tricks for more effecient movement like Gauss boost, though. But I don't think you would need them much.

Yeah, Kadingir Sanctum is my favorite in 2016. Like a lot of things about it.
Don't know about other levels, though.
Like:

• Vega Core for vibe, arena fights and difficulty.
• Argent D'nur for vibe, arena fights and boss fight.
• UAC and Argent Facility+Destroyed version for being so optional and in open area mostly.
• Foundry for giving choice to approach and vibe.
• Argent Tower for progression feel and balance between platforming and fights.
  Fine:
• ARC for arena fights and BFG.
• Lazarus Labs for same arena fights and 1st boss fight + all runes being accessible and last equipment gained.
• Titan's Realm for starting area and arena fights, but I don't like dungeons.
• Necropolis for arena fights, boss fight and last mod. But did I tell that I don't like dungeons? Also too short.

that's fair, I think Necropolis had the creepiest vibe of any of the Hell levels in these games, I like the blue visuals, that giant skeleton over the abyss is probably my favourite vista in any of these games, and Rip and Tear plays there so double points for that

Fair too. It has dark vibes. Also Icon of Sin is nice and I like 2-3 fights there. Boss is interesting, even while being weakest out of all 3.
As for Skeletons I like Titan's Realm start with Titan skull, but it was used in screenshots and videos for fights, while in actual game you just skip it within few seconds, if you don't listen to "audio note". 🤷‍♂️

A lot about hell in 2016 feels underdone or rushed. They definitely put a lot more effort in the UAC levels.

At least the first couple anyway. After Destroyed Argent the game gets very arcadey and the levels stop looking as impressive.

ehh I don't necessarily agree. Maybe in terms of the level design itself, it gets a lot less open as the game goes on, but I think the game looks gorgeous all the way through personally. I know people don't care for Hell's decrepit wasteland look in 2016 but that's my favourite look for it, it's just really eerie compared to the over-the-top nature of Eternal and TDA's Hells, which are more cool and epic than creepy

Very true. You can hit very high fps with very low end hardware. My hardware isn't exactly low end, but it can't run the dark ages.
But it ran 2016 at 180fps, at like 50 or so percent gpu util.

The more and more i play 2016 the more i realize how much it took from doom 3 and classic doom as a whole

The high fodder arenas are one of these things. DOOM Eternal and TDA throw in Imps and Zombies as very low fodder enemies while the main threats are usually the middle ranking demons, like Hellknights or Mancubus

2016 similarly to DOOM 3 (and DOOM 1, 2, and 64) use them as the main force while the more powerful demons are sprinkled on top of encounters

Should I post 2 bug fixes as 1 tiny separate mod or is it not worth it in your opinion?

1. Fixed BFG dealing damage in Weapon Wheel Selection menu. I know people like this bug, so probably won't be popular.
2. Fixed bug, when shooting from pistol right after throwing grenade lead to inability to do anyting, until fall or climbing animation would be played.
   There is also DKSMS accidental fix, but it requires weapon switching upgrade change, so ehhh.

Eternal should be a bit longer, but not that much. But there are DLCs, which should increase playtime.

the guards are pretty consistent if you learn their patterns (especially first phase), and you have like 5 bfg shots for spider mastermind if you saved all 3 till then

here are some tips that helped me

strafe one way before the super laser attack and as soon as it changes color/you hear the sound cue, move the other way
try to go by the sound cue, because you’ll have more time
when he does the rocket grid try to scope out a possible place to go, preferably to left or right, and then see which move he uses
the standard rocket is pretty easy to dodge but the dash can be tricky if you’re also trying to dodge the grid. prioritize dodging the dash, it deals much more damage

in phase 2 DO NOT double jump. you will get caught in the top laser slash he does, and that’ll make you hit the bottom one too. it deals a bunch of damage. always dodge with only one jump or strafes

besides that it’s just practice. you got this

Doom 1993 cyberdemon and the Brothers are quite cool to fight. Spider mastermind is a bit of disappointment because of bfg. You need 3 bfg shots to kill it and unless you do pistol start you are going to have them. Meaning there is a chance you slay the spider mastermind quickly and without even engaging it

If you do pistol start is a completely different story, but also spider mastermind is a hitscan bastard so there is so much you can do apart getting the fuck out his LoS

Doom 2016 cyberdemon fight I think it's cool, at least the first part, the second part that is a bit similar to doom eternal gladiator didn't excite me too much

Restricting players movement so dramatically so you just need to jump and crouch feels a bit moronic, but I loved the hype they built for that fight. You know you're going to fight Cyberdemon because there are clues, when it happens it doesn't come as a surprise but it's epic

Same thing they did with the doom hunter fight in doom eternal probably best fight there because of the hype it builds. Plus once it's done, you need to face another two, so yes I think it was the best boss fight in eternal.

The other two boss fight in 2016 aren't same as the cyberdemon, the mastermind eventually is a better fight than the one in the original doom. Plus seeing Olivia Pierce getting screwed was satisfying. "They promised me so much...", always a reminder to not deal with the devil

Doom eternal I might consider it the game with the best boss fights. Yes Kahn makyr is a curse generator, but enjoyable. Maybe the least enjoyable is the gladiator and is still good. Doom hunter my favourite and icon of sin closes the game I'm a excellent way. And we don't talk about the doom raleavers for obvious reasons.
