So there are two options, I play on uv and have 2 tortures every level
But I feel good emotions
Or I can play on harsh and get much less emotions
I mean, if you want a challenge play on a harder difficulty.
Just give it some time, try to learn from your mistakes, get your muscle memory down
I remember when after tnt on uv in pb I went on harsh dificulty and felt myself invincible

I understood how to play, ballista is op, but uses a lot of plasma, so you can kill dangerous enemies by it
Yeah zdoom was basically a complete rewrite of the original doom code so it changes a bunch of small behaviors and stuff, and then gzdoom built off of that and added a proper scripting language and hardware rendering
If you want a port that can play boom/mbf compatible wads, Id recommend using woof, it's a great source port
It can't play zdoom/gzdoom stuff but it can play most other maps

Upload it somewhere and tell people where to find it. Most mods are uploaded to ModDB and Doomworld /idgames archive. " To upload files to /idgames you will want to use an FTP client to connect to archives.gamers.org" and ModDB has an easy submit function.
you can use any file hosting service to distribute (gdrive, dropbox etc)
only put things on id/games if they're 100% complete and don't need to be updated
doomworld is a good site to use to tell people about your wad. just make a thread and drop in screenshots/info/download link
then you can share links to the doomworld thread

Im trying out Nightmare on Ultimate Doom on steam and when I save and exit then re load it, the turbo pinkies are slow again but enemies still respawn. Do I need to treat it like Ultra Nightmare in the modern games and do it in a single segment?

the respawning and fast monsters are both coded into that difficulty. it's impossible for one to be on and not the other

Guys, are there mods wich make the game really complex? Like adrenalin bar, shoulder cannon, character's and weapons' upgrades, maybe some injectors with buffs. Would be nice if it is compatible to brutal doom. I want to feel doom really overloaded with tons of content. I already tested project brutality. I didnt like it because half of content became useless after level 12

Doom 2's leveldesign is a masterpiece. After playing it for more than 2 hours you understand why this game just destroyed game industry
But there is one issue - levels are levels, but not parts of something bigger like in extermination day
They are cool itself, but you cant even say where are you and what is going on on most of the levels
All in all we all remember what Karmak said about storylines in games, so it is his vision of a game

Lol you're gonna have a blast (pun not intended) once you get your hands on the super shotgun in that game. Firing it is one of the most satisfying things in gaming in general. But I HIGHLY reccomend the Doom 64 remaster on modern consoles and PC as well, as that game has the same Classic Doom gameplay as Doom 1 and 2, but even better imo. In fact, I personally think it's the best game in the series, and is probably in my top 10 favorite games of all time. It's that good.
Just make sure you play the remaster and not the N64 original, as the remaster fixes SO many things that bogged the OG version for N64 down.

I suggest you to play d4arsenal with extermination day. D4arsenal is addon for brutal doom gold v21 and it makes gameplay less doorfightingly and with more action. There are also weapon upgrades, don't worry if you dont find them on first 5-6 maps, first one appears on nukage processing and you will not skip it anyway
Project brutality (at least staging build, I didnt play master) is overloaded with weapons and fire mods. If you want an insane arsenal you should play it. But it is not balanced, guns and demons are divided in 4 tiers and guns from previous tier are almost useless on the next
But still there are very good monsters, so this mod isnt shit

Map 15, you have to do a series of lever switching and stuff like that so look up a YouTube video or something, I don't really know how to explain it

After all that you have to go into the right tunnel and take a left (I think atleast, I don't remember much) and there should be a teleporter which would teleport you to Map31
There's also a secret second level, when you are about to see an exit, you could go for it and get to Map16 but if you wanna go to the next one, simply use the right walls until one opens and take another right and there will be another room with the exit to Map32

the only saving grace of that level is Into Sandy's City (and personally I don't think it's that good of a track)
it feels like a bunch of the rooms exist purely to screw you over
I like MAP10 much more imho. A lot more enemies but it's definitely more fun strategizing to deal with running low on ammo
not to mention the second map to feature the Pain Elemental. Very annoying enemy and that's solely because of infinitely tall actors
every doom 2 map with pain elementals are instantly ruined

you could edit the wads to remove the custom title screens
crispy doom also has a feature where if you launch just ultimate doom but have the sigil wad in the folder, it will automatically load it as an episode but keep the original title screen and intermission music, but play the sigil intermission music when playing sigil maps
it doesnt support sigil 2 but maybe it will in the future

drag the sigil2.wad file into GZDoom.exe from the same folder, it's the easiest way

It'll probably be released for switch soon but not yet. If you want access to custom mapsets, your best bet is spending the 6 dollars for classic doom on pc so you can download stuff freely. Even if you have a weak computer, it'll run just fine

Well I used to main the official Unity port because I usually don't have a PC on hand (usually just my phone), but last night I picked up Delta Touch on my phone because the official Unity ports are kinda iffy in what they're able to play, so now I'm using GZDoom.

Yeah. I mean, the Unity ports can run some WADs if you put them in the same WADs folder as the official add-ons, but it's limited

But yeah, as a console gamer, I'm quite fond of those ports regardless, and the Switch ports were what I played through all the Classic Doom stuff on for the first time.

Jumping and crouching also don't belong in Classic Doom
i'm actually a fan of jumping and crouching
Jumping especially, as it can be quite broken in some maps
they make the game feel juuuuuust a bit more realistic

Authorial intent for Doom is weird. John Carmack has said that modders should add freelook. but also...that's not what the game is designed for, especially the way the bfg works
...they definitely could have, the only reason was ther potato pcs in 1993 couldn't really run that many rays and sectors
It's more to do with the way rendering was set up. Letting you look up and down isn't actually that hard. What was more difficult was for things to render normally. Basically things far away look closer together. That effect is not active in vanilla doom for height. So letting you look up would only scroll up the texture and be really weird to look at
So they chose not to let you do it. You can try this out by enabling freelook in software mode or on cripsy

no. if the set is designed that way, it'll work properly. not strict vanilla so there is more wiggle room

i didn't like it, it felt like the worst levels in chapter 4
I've only played the first two maps so far, but it seems to follow a similar ethos. By all means, these are more polished, but it is definitely in the spirit of e4m2 and e4m6

I am doing a research paper on how linear algebra was used in the classic Doom Engine since the source code and I have been poking around it but have been struggling to find places where linear algebra is used explcitly, I was checking out r_ files to look for places in the renderer where it could have been used but wasn't having any luck. they put so many flemoidus stridicus in the map and their speed is somewhere between 30 and 700000 mph
and they like to zig zag (they want to waste your rocket/propulsor ammo)
episode 3 in general is way more challenging
and i found myself so tight on ammo that cells were more common than shells and bullets

I play through the original maps most of the time but I usually get an itch to play with the community maps, especially Rekkr considering my love for Norse and Celtic stuff

meanwhile chaingunners are harsher area denial, at least for short distances

uv+ on unity (steam and new official console versions) is the usual uv+ (which is -coop_spawns) as well as -fast.
Nightmare does not have coop spawns(though you could enable it if you're crazy), and would also have double ammo

initially I wished the weapon swapping was faster in doom, but I have come to the conclusion, the slow swap is superior, forces people to preplan encounters
and also gives these "oh shi-" moments when you pop out with a rocket launcher and theres some pinkies rushing closeby

shotgun wont always be strong enough, ssg fixes that somewhat but has a long reload, rockets are often scarce so you use them only when you can make them count(unless its plutonia or something, where you main it) - either way you need the fire rate of the plasma or even chaingun at times to deal that stunlock
