Demons love infighting. It was a thing back in the classic doom games where you could cause demons to fight each other so they reference it in eternal

Demons are all very, very angry and hateful. It's in their culture to be that way.

Demon wildlife is very difficult to tame/domesticate, so they haven't made sure a Pinky can't turn on other demons. And higher-ruling demons rule through fear or psychic control, so there's not much respect for hierarchy.

I just finished replaying it recently actually, and my advice is to never do bonus waves and look at the level map to see which secret levels are worth accessing. Some will drain your lives while others will help you bask in glory

Agree with katsu, hells abyss is a really cool looking level, it’s also not very difficult as far as modded levels go so it’s a nice way to ease back into them

there's an achievement specifically for Taras Nabad where you have to do everything but there isn't something like that for the entire campaign.

Equipment fiends only starts to get super useful in the later levels. If a level has more and more packed together demons it gets better and it benefits from you having unlocked more

Also the meathook mastery counts for equipment fiend

but it kinda locks you in place by reducing your mobility when you've got it locked onto a target

whereas heat blast is something that you can just build up passively and swap to whenever you need it

you can't really afford to stay still long enough for microwave beam to actually work well in the early game--you'll just get taken apart

dashes seem useless in that fight because there are too many enemies around. any time i try to dash i either dash straight into an enemy, can't dash more than 2 inches because you can't dash through enemies, or I just can't dash because for some reason the game decides not to let me sometimes

dashes are always super useful

there doesn't exist a bug which doesn't let you dash, but after you've dashed once, there's a very small cooldown on the dash (like 100ms)

i'd recommend to single dash, which is when you only use the first dash, and save the second for when you need it

if you get really good at only using your first dash, it's even faster than spamming both

continue focusing on that one equipment until you use it unconciously and move on to the next

a tip for the flame belch is that you want to use it as soon as it's off cooldown, even if you just hit one enemy

The Cacodemon is a free blood punch which you can then use on the Doom Hunter, freeze them both, unload ammo and maybe win

Chaingun+ shield is typically a counter to all of them. Save for the doom hunter, but those you can take down with an energy weapon and a couple well placed rockets

As your hand recovers more you'll get more comfortable and get better, quickswapping is probably the least important aspect of eternal, movement is way more important so focusing on that will get you way farther, you can get good at quickswapping again later

Blaming the game for you not doing well is not going to help you improve, you just need to realize your deaths are mostly your fault and you have lots to learn, it's not a game design flaw. Recognizing that will help you learn much quicker, have more fun, and improve at the game

doom hunters gave me so much trouble before i got advice to freeze bomb them first.

i always freeze bomb --> dash in to blood punch + SSG shot (this kills the sled instantly if you have the freeze bomb extra damage) --> any amount of pb/rocket or pb/ballista. you can just do some LOBs onto it as well and its dead

doom hunters are now one of the easier super heavies for me after just freeze bombing them
