it's weird cause like in classic doom it was distinguished from the SSG in how it did lower damage but had a much higher effective range
like you could kill imps and zombies from across the room with it, borderline sniping stuff
it was stronger up close but that wasn't the only thing it could do, vs the SSG which just murdered anything in its face but didn't do shit with a bit of distance, coupled with the reload time and ammo consumption made it kinda high risk high reward
they def did the SSG pretty well but the normal shotgun like, doesn't do anything anymore?? I swear it actually has less effective range than the SSG I think

which is such a shame because it's such a nice weapon

One other thing you haveo be careful about with the cyber mancubus is that it shoots its green toxic stuff at you, but you can pretty easily dodge it while flying at it with the meathook

I went right back into TAG1 extra lives after failing and was doing pretty good. Made it to the final area and did lose one to the marauders but it was alright
But then like a little ways in I got stuck in like, purgatory? Nothing but fodder would spawn and I couldn't find anything else. Must've been at least a couple minutes. Eventually though the encounter dud proceed and the two barons showed up. But then everything went wrong and I like accidentally used up all my bfg ammo and then I lost another life and I was just like, man fuck this lol

a good way to practice tech ( that doesn’t require enemies ) is just load up the entrance room to Urdak with infinite ammo, and if you need to practice tech that does require enemies, try out the tyrant part of nekravol, it’s not that far in, and tyrants are not that mobile, and can take a lot of hits

Im pretty sure you only get hot swapper after exultia so really i think you should just have a good grasp on the map layout and spawns. Sticky bomb and pb is the best combo at that point but you can also mix a heat blast in there, quickswapping here is obv slow but its def functional for certain situations

For cultist base, pb rocket is KEY and theres not much else

I dont have the best memory but for the triple mancubus encounter im pretty sure you gotta pb sticky the first one then just climb up. I'd say climbing up would probably make you safe but i havent even tried it myself so

Using it as a finisher tool basically demands you to remember how much damage each of your weapons deal and how much health the enemy has left, and if they're on their stagger state that means you screwed up

the heavy cannon does 65 damage per bullet, zombies have 200 health, and 100 stagger health, that means you have a singular bullets worth of grace period, it only takes two bullets to stagger them, doing 130 damage, 3 doing 195, flame belch usually does 5 damage but zombies have a 20% resistance towards that so even that will not one shot them. That being said, the heavy cannon is really lenient in terms of staggering fodder.

Memorizing map layouts is huge yes, I think you should memorize as much as possible. I planned each level out making sure I would use chainsaw pips on the hardest enemies and no pips, crucible blades, or bfg shots would go unused. Also you should know and be comfortable with any tech you plan on using, whether that's punch swaps, quick switching, ballista boosts, or whatever. I think the most important things out of all tho are just commitment and practice.

using no skips, only two arachnotrons are necessary to kill in hell on earth if you save chainsaw pipe for the rest, and if you save chainsaw pips and do a little backtracking and minor skips I’m sure you can avoid fighting a single arachnotron legitimately in hell on earth

Yeah using chainsaw pips on heavies is one of the biggest contributors to my current doom skills I think, it's just so useful. As for memorizing, I had over 120 hours on doom eternal before I started doing un attempts, so I pretty much had the game memorized before I even began, and that certainly helped. Individual level practice could help if there's a certain level you feel is hard to remember I suppose, but that could be a hassle and idk how much anyone would even wanna do that

The funny thing is that's not the issue. I mean my old mouse had a spot to rest the ring finger which the new one lacks but it's not a big deal
The problem is on the other side. The way my hand sits leaves it rubbing in this one spot against a grippy surface and it gets rather irritating. I can hold the mouse in a way that prevents that but then I can't reach one of the buttons

But tbh that one button is kinda inconvenient even then and holding it in a way to accommodate it makes some other buttons harder to reach... I might just not use it tbeh

so if you're struggling on the first arena, ain't no way you can clear the two egregious encounters it has, at least on Nightmare

Yo, tryna beat un here. Is replaying the game on nightmare difficulty whilst resetting the entire mission once dead a good way to practice? Im not a big fan of extra life mode and i thought this would be good practice since it helps you get used to the level you struggle on

I think it doesnt explicitly one shot each part it just does a ton of damage, so its unlikely for a part to survive, but its not a direct "one hit kill" thing

I think it depends tbh. Personally what I did to practice was I did 2 practice runs of the game, pretending I was on ultra nightmare the entire time during the practice runs. So for example I wouldn't do slayer gates, since I didn't plan on doing them in my UN run, and so on. I wouldn't restart the entire level if I ended up using an extra life on a fight, I would just simply analyze what caused me to lose the extra life, and decide if I need to practice that specific fight a bit more. I think resetting the level each time you lose an extra life is a bit unnecessary, but if you think it's good practice for yourself, then sure, I'd say go for it.
