This is mostly conjecture, but the typical line of thinking is that when you fire the Arbalest and then swap mods during it, the game says "player is firing weapon" but by swapping mods, the game resets the "you have fired" flag to 0. So the game then says "oh you should fire". But because the game ALSO reset the "charge" (i.e. you are not charging an Arbalest shot), the game just fires a normal Ballista shot.

The faster you pause-unpause, the more shots you can do, so the game probably thinks "Arbalest is firing" takes place over several frames/over the course of a second.

its like 3-4 shots with the fullauto but returns 6 shells, or if you dont have blood punch, you can stop 1 shot before you'd kill it to stagger, so you can glory kill it for a blood punch. I'm not arguing that you ever NEED to do this or that its a gamechanger. I like to use full auto for shell refills on kill more because i just like it than because I really need those extra shells or it being the BEST way to kill anything besides a stone imp (and even those, you can use dblade or hammer).

But for pinkies, if you've got a clear shot at their tail, it actually might be the best, or at least offers some advantages over using SSG. an incomplete-enough SSG blast to the tail will often fail to kill a pinkie in 1 hit, and may not even stagger. due to the ssg spread you gotta be decently close to get a good hit. fullauto has a tighter spread concentrated on roughly a pinkie-tail sized area, and even if it takes a couple extra shots with fullauto, you still kill it at 0 net shell cost or slight gain. killing a pinkie with 3 shots of fullauto vs 1 ssg blast isn't a merely the difference between spending 2 shells or not spending 2 shells, it's the difference between spending 2 or gaining 3: a 5 shell difference. this is not nothing. yeah, yeah "just chainsaw" I know. but sometimes you're only low on shells, or just missing a few shells and not low on anything. getting a few shells might not be necessary or something that's gonna make or break the fight for you... but it's still better than losing shells, right? if you do this here & there, not just on pinkies but on staggered/low health heavy demons, then you're dealing damage at no cost with the fullauto AND giving yourself more shells to use with PB+SSG.

Same with BP.
going for a BP can be risky, it can be unavailable sometimes, and sometimes there's several pinkies. maybe you BP 1, using bp to cancel the modswap animation as you equip full auto to shoot another. if you need a glory kill, shoot 1 less time.

yeah, mobile turret is just super outclassed in every way... Its probably the worst mod, mostly because the shield is so good, even offering more damage potential. but at the same time, mobile turret DOES falter hellknights, dreadknights, and barons real quick and it DOES do enough damage to kill things... just not as fast as quickswap combos or mastered micromissiles. It's hitscan, unlike micromissiles and if you're not adept at quickswapping it isnt a bad way to do damage. For being arguably the worst, most useless mod, it's pretty good. But its still definitely the mod I feel the least reason to use.

i do use it on possessed demons, but you can use both LoB and micromissiles on something like a poss baron which has too much health to kill with only lockon burst

why is finishing off heavies with fullauto for shells silly? it doesn't really matter that fullauto DPS can't compete with PB combos and SLoB or that it does less dmg per shell than ssg, when it takes like 2-4 quick shots with it to refund 6-8 shells which you can use for the ssg. Or you can shot them 6-8 times for free, as long as they die. you dont ever have to do it but i wouldnt call that useless.

meathooking to a caco for a blood punch + SSG is kinda pointlessly reckless, but since either the bp or the SSG blast will falter him on hit, it's not as stupid as it might sound. It's also just like, kinda funny... you'd normally be trying get him to gulp a grenade or take him out from a safe distance with ballista or something, so its amusing to realize you can just say "fuck that" and punch him in the face instead

I still use stickybombs, arbalest, dblade, or quickswapping to kill them most of the time but its a fun alternative

yeah I killed the other tyrant first with an ice bomb + destroyer blade + frag grenade setup and then probably some pb combos to finish him off. I was able to kill him really fast so didnt have to worry about him too. then on the possessed one, i used some combination of the things I suggested above, while meathooking around him, trying to stay in the air, and faltering him with microwave beam if i was on the ground & about to eat an attack. I tihnk I mostly just used locky rockies and unmaykr, and I'm sure I had to chainsaw for more rockets at least once.

hit him with everything you got, any frags, if you got blood punch, maybe go in with the shield just long enough to hit him with BP if you can get out without getting hit. I didnt kill him fast but it didnt take that long either... plus I don't do SLoB and didnt wanna waste all my unmaykr, so im sure i couldve killed him quicker

I got another layout for that but you need to sacrifice buttons like hammer/crucible, mod swap, and i think 1 weapon (I remove chaingun, but you can go BFG).
