The best piece of advice is the one BonJoviFan gave you, and I say this as someone who's been writing on-and-off since I was a 12 year old tapping away short stories on my DSi screen keyboard. You have to just write. It's better to write dogshit than to write nothing. In fact you have to write dogshit before you can write actually good material.

Absolutely. We have 3 officially released expansions that are just fan creations (Plutonia Experiment, TNT Evilution, Master levels of DOOM II). Modding has always been a huge part of DOOM.
Even outside of DOOM, some big fangames like Sonic Robo Blast 2 Kart or Megaman 8 bit Deathmatch are actually based on old DOOM source ports

Wanted to add my two cents here. Though I do love Doom if there's one thing I'd change about the Praetor suit in Dark Ages or Eternal it's the Doomslayer's gorget. I don't like how the skin is exposed in the neck region. The biceps are fine but the neck just feels wrong ngl

It feels as though the helmet is not properly connected with the rest of the suit for some reason. This is something I wish the devs would overlook or at least have a team of fan mods fix this
