Does anyone know how to alleviate tension or stress in your forearm?
I'll play a bit of smoothness for 10-15 minutes
and my forearm starts to feel very tense and tight
Which makes my aim shaky and makes controlling my mouse difficult
When I’m trying to focus on a single point in game (perhaps an angle hold in siege) my eyes tend to unfocus and make me have to keep zoning in on that point. Has anyone dealt with this before?

Mid gunfight my eyes sort of just shake and I lose focus
@violet swan same here, 20 mins on kovaaks and my forearms start feeling tight and sort of heat up. Anyone know what i should do?
@violet swan @median furnace
STOP IMMEDIATELY. I had this same issue and ignored it. It got so painful I've officially resigned from my job and given up gaming. Go see a doctor/physio asap. It's not if, but WHEN you'll end up with a long term condition from it
jesus
It's basically your tendon under great stress. Aggravate it enough, and even drinking tea hurts
holy shit
its so annoying cos im so determined to grind but my arms hurt after kovaaks
Tbh I'm only here to warn people in the health channel, because there's not enough awareness. You'll just cop replies like "rest". Rest won't do anything
Nah don't push through. It's not like working out a muscle (even though it feels the same)
All good. I hope you work something out :)
Are you sure that it's the same issue as yours? I mean there could be a lot of issues related to your tendon being unders tress
I mean yours sound normal honestly
I mean.. wouldn't you rather be warned?
Normal PC use is okay if that pain has subsided
No pain/burn is sustainable or healthy in repetitive movements
Is there like a recommended wait time for playing again after you stop cus of wrist pain?
I have never had any pains and i play kovaaks for 1 or 1 and a half hours each day
plus overwatch for 4-6
ur young
Yeah agreed @violet swan When I was young I used to laugh at people complaining about this stuff, while rocking 8 hours a day poor posture on games no issues. Now 26 I have pristine ergonomics, and 10 mins of kovaaks will put me in a wheelchair
I'm mid 20s btw. Old compared to these young ones
So it is because of my age?
@muted fiber What are you saying? Should people stop completely, take breaks, stretch... Just curious to see your/your doctorss opinion
And maybe get some tips as im only 15 y/o aswell
@violet swan How old are you, teens?
@thorny dew I think kovaaks is great. It improved my gameplay dramatically. But I now can't play any games at all. Definitely take breaks very often, stretch, exercise, drink water, and stop immediately if there's pain. And go to a doctor if it hurts consistently. Too many people here say things like 'change your sens" or "just take a day rest", when they don't know you're doing serious tendon damage
In the end, you have to judge whether you think the risk is worth the gain. And when you're young, you're too careless for yourself in 10 years time
Idk about how big the risks are
I went to the doctor for a little weird sound in my shoulder, but that wasnt anything bad, just a tendon going over a bone or whatever, how often should I take breaks and stretch? What do you think
@violet swan I don't think that's enough in my opinion. Stretches should be before, middle, and after I'd say. 2 hours is also a long time without break
@thorny dew It's not dangerous. But playing games at the cost of a career is daunting
wait its not dangerous, but at the cost of a career
?
You are saying its dangerous when not taking breaks etc?
Yeah that's normal for the shoulder. I'd take a break every 15-20 mins. Stand up, walk around
Getting RSI or anything alike from kovaaks, can mean a life of painful hands/arms doing simple tasks (cleaning a window, typing on a keyboard, scratching your ass), it doesn't just stop you playing games.
true, my grandpa has something similar
I'm not a doctor. But I can tell you I didn't realise the damage I was doing when starting kovaaks. I'd like to think I can warn anyone unaware while I can :)
So you are saying if im doing stretches, taking breaks and stuff I'll be fine?
That's unfortunate for him. I wonder what kids of these days will be like when they're his age. Probably much worse
You're more likely to be fine. You may still get issues. You may take no breaks and stretches and you may be fine. Statically speaking, it'll lower you chances of issues
statistically***
Ok I'll try to take more breaks instead of less and stop when I get pain, I think I'll be fine in that case
but static stretching before exercise isn't good right?
Definitely stop as soon as you feel it. Reassess your ergonomics. Save up and spend money on a good chair and desk (consider building a standing one - I did this today)
Thanks @thorny dew you too my man
My ergonomics have actually improved quite a lot, how do I know if my chair is bad?
@violet swan Correct. It's not. But you can do dynamic stretches, to warm up the joints/muscles
yeah will do that
inbetween games and such
only place i sometimes feel sore in is inbetween my thumb and pointer finger
The important thing is chair height, and desk height. Its relative to your height (which you're growing too). They have to be correct so you can be sitting at about 90 degrees. Especially your wrists being neutral
That's an odd one. Cm/360?
@violet swan Does your mouse hand also get really warm after playing kovaaks? I dont think thats bad(atleast I hope so), but its interesting to see, how much it uses the hand
yeah it gets way hotter
Also Ladan, chair is great if you make sure it has a form of lumbar support
i play between 27.7 and 32cm
oh mine doesnt have that, does that mean I have to lean back? @muted fiber
if I had one
Depends on what sort of warm? It gets warm as in it feels fluid and flexible, but not tingling or burning - that's bad
i used a infrared thermometer and my right hand was 30C after playing and left was 19
Is it weird my mouse gets super duped sweaty when playing even when very cold
Ladan just use a pillow or something
I will
which one is bad? burning and tingling or fluid and flexible?
Try 40? Less wrist and finger issues?
Burning and tingling is bad
Probably just a clammy hand kinda guy. Keep a towel around
@violet swan same for me btw
No. Maybe Google good ergonomics to see
I think there are some pinned here actually, but I will
Perfect
it tells people that you're trusted by voltaic
Oh right. Who would I ask?
I dont know his name atm wait a sec
its @worthy cloud @muted fiber
and you should find the name @worthy cloud
oof 2 pings 😄
Okay I'll ask haha. Do I need your vouches?
Probably not, but you got mine and probably @violet swan's aswell
Alright I'll do it for you guys
🙂
since you know so much about wrists. how should I warm my wrist up b4 kovaak’s?
keep in mind i am a healthy human being and I am a well exercised. at least i like to think that way xd
Haha that's a good start. #1 Stay hydrated. This is key to prevention. #2 I'd try movements that warm up the muscles your using, like light extensor/flexor movements back and forth. Wrist rotations. Finger dexterity taps. Carpal compressions (I think that's the name). Shaking your hands. All the ones that involve moving them without stretching, in every way possible
You could also use some 1kg dumbbells before it
@muted fiber can you recommend a stretching routine to do while playing, say in the middle of my routine?
tysm for your help. appreciate it
Stretching is very seldom the answer. Postural related shoulder, neck wrist, elbow pain etc is often caused or at least contributed to by poor length-tension relationships of muscles, muscular imbalances, or just poor tissue tolerance. Musculotendinous injuries will NOT get better if you discontinue things and just rest. Tissue need to be stressed in order to adapt. The pain will go away if you rest, but the underlying cause and physiologic changes that occur to damaged, angry, irritated (whatever you want to say) tissues will not actually improve until those structure are loaded at a level they can tolerate, and graded progression and exposure to increasing forces is implemented
I'm a physical therapist currently in a year of residency to specialize in orthopedics. Besides getting my dick kicked in from the volume of work, teaching, didactic material taking place, I'm hoping to create a general "maintenance" document to capture a large portion of what I see in clinic so that people can both preemptively and post-injury have something to look towards as a general starting point
Long story short though, most people do not load tissues enough. They stretch them, they rest them, they ice them, etc. but most tissues in the body regardless of what it is require load in order to truly change and adapt. The challenge is finding the right about of load. Too much, we irritate and things get worse. Too little, we do not drive change and adaptation.
/soapbox
as a former 16yrs+ swimmer I can tell you that this is definitely the case in most of the scenarios. Most of the time when I got injured on some part of my body my coach would just say “keep going it’s nothing” or “apply some ice when u get home and it should be fine”
and that’s bc of that that I now have rounded shoulders and a anterior pelvic tilt
fixing those rn btw. but because of the things u just mentioned, it is gonna take me quite some time to get through this bc this is a long time thing
Are there any exercises to get a wider wrist angle? I cant move my wirst not that much wich makes it hard to wrist aim
@woven rose Definitely takes time. I would also be curious if you feel like the anterior tilt and the rounded shoulders are cause of any symptoms you're having. There is a WIDE range of "normal" or "asymptomatic" postures out there in the world. Posture is another black hole people like to go down and the evidence doesn't support it as much as you'd think. Being able to come in and out of postures is much more important than anything. Good luck with your endeavors though! I'm bias, but a good PT should be able to evaluate you for those things and get you on a solid program without having to bring you in multiple times a week. Most of the patients I treat I tend to see no more than every 7-10 days. I'm big on the education and self-efficacy component and much less on the the "here's a hot pack and some estim, come see my 4x/week" sadly our profession like any other has some of those bad apples left in it
@slate anchor That would depend entirely on whether or not what you have is considered "normal" based on your anatomy. Is that wrist limited compared to your non-mouse hand? Trying to take a joint beyond what is your own anatomical normal is asking for instability and potential issues down the road
My left (none mouse hand) is even more limited hmm okay thank you than i guess im not a wrist /highsens aimer
@violet swan ty a lot ❤️
@violet swan I looked up a routine for my anterior pelvic tilt which included pelvic tilts, muscle strengthening and hip flexor stretches from Jeremy Either and I think that’s doing a pretty damn good job so far. I also have hyperextended knees although I think that’s also due to the anterior tilt. I’ve seen some improvements by only one week of sticking to it so I guess i’ll have to see where that can get me. I am working first on this tilt bc if I don’t i can’t get past the 220lbs on the deadlift 😦
i’ll work on my shoulders next bc that’s a whole bad problem since I have had my should injured almost my entire life and I think I have to go see a shoulder doctor to help me with this. I think the problem is on my rotator cuff
about the symptoms u asked, i rly don’t feel anything besides low back pain (which i don’t have anymore). and yes there’s definitely those “apples” (i like the way u called them xd) that just want you to give them the money and don’t rly care about ur well being
Most care about your well-being, but they definitely care about money. Private practice is a different animal because unless you life in an area where you're the only shop around, it can be hard to have enough patient's to get by only seeing them 1x every 7-14 days. Its not even the frequency that my issues is with, its the lack of application of evidence. Physical therapy research is exploding and we are finding out very quickly what we're good (and franky, very poor) at doing. People just don't apply it. The profession has gone from a 2 year associates level education to a bachelors +3 year doctorate program all in the span of like 15 years though so there is a wide variety of "entry-level" education out there
On that note, I'm late for teaching XD if people have specific questions, feel free to DM. Disclaimer, I am licensed to practice in my state and my state alone. Anything I give you is coming from a random dude from the internet and is by no means medical or direct physical therapy care/advise. I will be as vague and mysterious as I need to be to keep my ass safe XD like I said earlier though, I'd like to work on a general template of "top X things you can do" for all the stuff I see repeatedly in clinic as a free resource. For my own selfish gain I may attach a questionnaire to it and ask all those that use it to take a pre/post test so I can use it as some back alley janky research or at least a pilot for bigger things. The era of tech/cellphone/computer users is very real and I've seen more shoulder, neck, wrist, etc pain in the last year than I have ever before in my career
Is it normal for my elbow to feel tight after I play 10-15 min of kovaaks?
ur prob not used to aimtraining yet
ur bronze right
I've been doing aim training for a while, but it's very on and off
ah
The on and off is probably more detrimental to my health tbh
But I have to flex my elbow very frequently, and maybe overtension causes it
@violet swan hope ur class is great! nice to talk to u
try some form of physical warmup before aim training
LIke dynamic stretching?
ye
Sounds good, I can go for a upper body dynamic stretch and do some stuff for hip flexors too
Never thought about dynamic, and in retrospect, it makes a lot more sense than static
do whatever
im not an expert on stretches anyway
someone else will know better than me
I'll try both, see if one is better than the other/works better for me
Does anyone know what the muscle right behind your shoulder is called?
Or am I just smoothbrain and that's called your shoulder
looks too narrow I think
Yeah kinda looks too small
if i straighten it at all it rubs on the pad
And narrow
@wraith wolf the mouse?
yes
my palm does not touch the mouse at all
when measuring width do u include thumb
Yeah
im like 19cmx10cm
new xm1 variant coming soon
which?
i have the rgb cuz big feet and nice clicks
stock xm1 feet is just dragging shell everytime u look up
ye same
@wraith wolf naw i fingertip
Guys I need help idk what to do I can’t do the only thing I enjoy most of the time cos of my dumb parents
Like I can never chase my dreams now cos I’m not able to put in the time
Have a serious talk and ask them why they dont want you to
@violet swan youre wording this in a really baity way. Them expecting you to get good marks is completely reasonable. Having a dream to go pro does not mean int away any chance of a reliable future. esports are too new and inconsistent by nature.
Being told school is much more important than gaming is honestly just good parenting. I was the same but now I'm in my last year of high school and I'm really thankful I wasn't allowed to just not care about school
I can't really give you precise answers as the outcome depends on your culture and family and such
But generally try to layout what you NEED, to chase your dream, and the work it out with what they want from you
So say you need three hours of practice everyday to be good at fortnite, your parents wants you to get good grades. Work it out with them how you plan to achieve both
Or if they just hate video games, ask them why and try to make open their minds about it
but this will be tough because if they are close minded a child has little chance to change them
work out why they don't like games, and try to prove them wrong
@violet swan first, parents and teachers are your first figures of authority since childhood and it's natural that we want to follow their mentorship and life advice, but the truth is that's probably a bad idea for most people as most teachers/parents are just average people. In fact, the only reason I'm doing well for myself is because I disregarded pretty much all financial and career advice that my parents gave me, as well as 90% of the personal finance course I took during uni. There's a saying that you know you're in a good economy if your taxi driver is giving stock tips, which is relevant because your taxi driver has 0 knowledge compared to Warren Buffet or other successful traders (modern trading is done algorithmically and speculative investments are just white collar gambling). Likewise, your parents or teachers giving career advice or ppl in this discord is the same thing.
The only way for you to chase your dreams is to realise that you are in control of your own life. But there's also no rush to it either - there's no reason why you can't start chasing your dreams at 25, even if your dream is to become an esports pro. For now, work on becoming a fully independent person. If you're under 18, just keep your dreams in mind, but if your parents are against it you shouldn't go against them because you don't have the resources to support yourself right now. I assume you can't convince them either, because it's super hard to change an older person's point of view on things. What I would do is to get a job and learn how to sustain yourself 100% financially. Basically become independent. You don't actually have to move out, but it should give you the realisation that you can chase your own dreams and don't have to listen to everything your parent says. If they're the ones feeding you and housing you, then you don't have what it takes yet to chase your dreams.
Also, I'm gonna be real
If you aren't already the top 0.001% of your game after a couple of months of play, your chances of going pro and making good money in that game is basically 0
But I can’t go on pc if they don’t let me
So how
Ok
Ima try to place in the next solo tourneys to get more support tho
Cos if I come too 50 then I can get way more support
And I’m good enough to come top 50 rn tbh
anyone familiar with meditating?
im so unhealthy 😿
🐱
i meditate pretty frequently what's up?
is it just to be aware of your surroundings and not think?
kill
@violet swan From what I know, you're meant to allow thoughts to come to you and let them pass, not get angry/feel/dwell on them. Think like you're in a white box. Learning to control your thoughts to not get wound up in them. But others will know much more
When a thought comes to mind, let it go away and just continue breathing, concentrating on brething helps @violet swan
Just what cutter is saying
Yeah basically Ladan. Thanks
@violet swan What @storm plinth just said was amazing advice. In short, he's basically saying get good grades, while earning money, so you don't need your parents to achieve becoming pro. If they're paying for food on your plate, and a roof over your head, then they have every right to be concerned if you're not going to pursue a responsible life. There's thousands upon thousands of kids out there wanting to go 'pro' and will just end up throwing their lives away to become bums in their mothers basement. Your parents don't want this, and neither should you. Your parents don't like you gaming because that's the 99% chance outcome..but if you can prove that you'll not give up everything else for your dream, then one day they'll see you as mature and responsible enough to chase the dream
Just try and think beyond this. If they knew you were going on the PC to do some work, it would be a different story
yh ik ty
any tips on starting cardio?
They’d probably be ok with pc if you got grades up
There’s no harm in setting yourself up for a reliable future
Expecting your parents to let you all in on esports is an unrealistic expectation
And if they did let you they’d be terrible fucking parents
^^^
School first so u always have something to fall back on if esports dosent work out
^
Esports are wonky still
Maybe in 10 or 20 years it’ll have the stability of normal sports but for now it is ridiculously competitive without the money to maintain a player who’s falling off
Easier to just pick up a brand new cracked player and coach them instead
So many people want to get in so few people last more than 2-3 years
True just cause ur pro in fort dosent mean you’ll be pro level in any other game
So u could easily fuck ur future by not having a back up plan
You can go from best in the world to not top 20 in a year
Nah worse then that
Having backups and solid marks makes doing something like this easier
Poach went from #1 esports earnings by a large margin to not top 100 in a tourneys in a few months
Everytime you hear a pro dropping school/not caring there are 10,000 other people that tried the same and failed
And at the same time there are a lot of pro players who did well in school, well enough to be leading a comfortable life without being a pro
And are still some of the best in the world
It is possible to be great in both aspects and if you don’t have the drive or work ethic to make it safely the odds of surviving long term is low
You have to remember burnout is a thing and if you can’t push yourself through then you’ll get fucked
Ye I’m sure in like 20 years esports players will be making as much or more then sports players
Hard to say
Although I think i agree
Even 5 or 6 years ago big competitions were like 5k or 10k
Now it’s well over $1m
10-20 it could easily be Super Bowl size
Fort wc was like 20 million I think?
Especially as more regions of the world get exposed to esports and the internet
As well as people in our generation will watch esports more than the last etc.
True
Idk I don’t think any esports pro will be making the 100s of millions some pros make
But there will def be much more money available as orgs games and viewers grow in number
And more and more people grow up playing video games
is 100 jump rope per day a good challenge with an addition of 10 reps every 1-2 weeks?
to target consistency and cardio?
100 jump rope as in 100 jumps?
Doesnt matter where you start
You have to increase the workout over time
Or lessen breaks for cardio
Also 10 extra reps isn't gonna cut it
Do 100 with no breaks, increase by 20 everyday for first week
If u can currently do 100
Also you probs wanna mix it into your interval training, so do if your limit is 100 do 80, then rest fuck around for a min, repeat 3 times
@upper folio but yeah most importantly it doesnt matter how many you start with
Just aim for improvement
yes
If u wanna see ur cardio is working
Measure your resting heart rate
And measure it once a week in same circumstances
Normally like right after you wake up
Good idea
cus u can jump in many ways. for example i do a little jump in between the rope does the whole circle
idk if that was said right
ye
and u most likely can't handle very much time
keep in mind tho if u wanna start working out u have to watch what u put in your mouth too
otherwise it ain't gonna cut it
What you eat is more important yea
it also depends on your type of body too. if you are ectomorph, endomorph or mesomorph
and therefore if u have less attainability to put in fat or not
thanks for the tips guys
I want to focus on my VO2 and heart health because of my asthma
I'm 165cm and 57kg
Do you recommend doing a circuit training or plyo workout if my goal to improve my VO2 max?
I dont go to my local park anymore for whatever reason
so working out in my room make me really inefficient, especially during rests
@upper folio if you have asthma you need to do 2 things if you really want to improve at a good rate:
- Make sure you have an recent lung function test from a pulmonologist and subsequent updated meds/dosage for your asthma
- AVOID TRIGGERS. Can't stress this one enough you'll completely hamstring all your efforts if you are getting exposed to things that make your asthma worse. Common things are dust, allergies (all types not just seasonal) chemicals, pollution, smoke.
For the excercise itself start off where you are 100% confident you can accomplish it without an asthma attack, then increase it by 10% each week until you start getting symptoms (chest tightness, wheezing, feeling like you need to take an additional puff-DO IT IF YOU FEEL THE NEED!! etc.) then back off to the week before and do that for a while another week or more until you try ramping up again.
Also I wouldn't do jump rope every day if you haven't done lots of rapid repetitive jumping before. I would do it a few days a week 3 or 4 for several weeks before increasing frequency. The reason I say this is there is a extremely high level of force in jumping and you run the risk of inflamming your connective tissue (ligaments and tendons) if you do too much starting off. Tendons take a long time to strengthen so you are looking at a scale of ramping up over a few months to make sure you don't injure yourself ( tendon injuries are notorious for looooong recovery times). Mix in some other activities that you enjoy that involve either low impact (eg. cycling) or other body parts (circuit training, sports, swimming etc.)
main thing is increasing your heart rate and keeping it elevated for VO2 max training (cardio)
My right elbow feels a bit sore and hurts a bit after sitting in front of my PC for a while. The part of my elbow that hurts is the part sitting on the table. Is this a condition ue to my elbow sitting in the same position for a long time, or is it a normal thing?
sheeeeeeeeeesh
@muted fiber how is life bro, i saw your 3 dec update take care
oke
Hbu??
Damn. No improvement?
shit flares
yes i have improvement
i can play normally
but i cant focus on aimtraining
shit starts acking
Mines basically tennis and golfers elbow
That's good!!
i got the tennis
Have you been doing 1kg wrist curls?
yeah i have some elastic stuff
im actually not doing much because 3 dec i got a son man
takes a lot of energy
lol
Haha shiiit man expecting or born already?
i used to work finger stretches
its born man
its allive
and needs food cleaning and shit every 3-4 hour
Oh 3rd sorry that's 3 days ago, congrats!!
thakns 🙂
Probably good timing for a break my man
i read up on the ironmind forum
that this shit is mosly caused by weak extensor muscle
so i did grab some elastics
yeah probably
and put around my hand
and stretched
countless reps
to get the blood in
and some strength
and it works wonders
Interesting. I'll DM you my personalised physio routine
this shit i ordered
im working with some weak ass stuff rn
oke
my wrists constantly crack and i usually feel the urge to crack them alot after gaming/kovaaks
is this normal or should i get it checked out
@median furnace I believe that's inflammation of the tendons (mod confirm?). It's not super serious but I'd say you're on your way to some bigger problems
Unless you mean the pop, that people do, which is air/nitrogen in your joints
yeah ill get it checks out then thanks
Docs probably gonna tell you to go easy/rest. Just make sure you're not overdoing your desk/gaming time. I find any amount of kovaaks causes problems, but you may be different
ye, i just want to get it checked out even if itll just be to rest - just want to be sure nothing else serious is happening
Thank you so much for taking your time for me!
desk recommendations? Looking for an adjustable desk but not electric one. My current one is just too high, causing my elbows to flare too much I think
I adjust the armrests to be level with it but that seems a bit high, and if i lower them then my arms are tilting up from the elbow and I heard they should be more neutral
I went ikea “hack” with x2 Alex drawers and a counter top set up on top with some non-slip rubber on top of the drawers. Purchased a separate cable management trough if you will that adheres to the underside of the countertop to keep cables running along the underside
This is not an exercise routine or a stretch, but a good way to make sure the intrinsic muscles of the hand are fired up and ready to go. I run through about 15x simultaneously on both hands. Worth a try for some of you
Disclaimer: I’m not treating you, this isn’t direct physical therapy care, etc etc
Hey, so I want to create myself a daily routine but I’ve realized there may be inconsistencies with this. Things like If I make plans with a friend, if something comes up during the day, school, ect.
If I run into these problems, what should I do?
So I elevated myself by sitting on some pillows lol
I ordered a some nice one for lower back pain, but just regular pillows help. Now my elbows are more parallel to desk. My desk is like 30" and most desk start at 29" so it's not going to make a big diff if I buy a new one
My bad on the late reply, but yeah the goal is to be as present as possible. You're going to have thoughts come up though there's no stopping that, but when they do come up just try to notice them, let them go, and return back to being present. The more you meditate the more present you should be able to be throughout your day to day life; this is because you're developing the skill of letting thoughts go whenever you're done with them instead of dwelling on them more than necessary.
And being present is just focusing on anything that's happening now instead of thinking about the past or future. So a lot of people like to pay attention to their breathing, or do a body scan type thing, or just listen to surroundings. It really doesn't matter as long as you're focusing on the now and not anything else
Yeah man your mind is going to wander a lot at first but with time you get better at it just like with any other skill
How long should you stretch for before playing?
you should do some mobility and warmup before playing
stretch after
only takes a few minutes
It does have caffeine but also lots more
i got mad eye strain from grinding kovaaks and apex any suggestions?
Sleep
i have been and now i got headaches on the left side of my head my mom said i could be starting a mindgrain 😦
Well i think you juste need a break and drink lots of water
word ty ty
Is high sens dangerous for wrists if I rest and do stretches? Talking 10 cm/360
Yes
Yeah high wrist aiming will eventually destroy wrist. Can't convince me otherwise
My elbow has been hurting as of late and I think it could be the pressure from me resting on them
Is it tennis elbow or can the pressure from me resting on them allday actually make them hurt?
For the water thing just clean out the gallon milk things and fill that up
Id be more concerned about strengthening the wrists to prevent the injuries rather than just rest /stretches
@worthy cloud what exactly do you mean by mobility?
Dynamic stretching like the stuff in kastors guide in the pins
Where you don't just stretch and hold it
Successful day at the gym today benched 205lbs for 4 reps and 4 sets

Any1 know how to avoid elbow pain/discomfort
think its tennis elbow
my elbow never touches my desk
I probbaly have it as well, tennis elbow comes from gripping stuff for prolonged amount of times
@wraith wolf getting stronger?
Yeah

Could I get an explanation on how to do #10 Finger extensor from the Wrist Stretching and Posture guide
@wraith wolf can you dm body and stats? I wanna see what it takes to bench that
of course, give me a sec
maybe stupid question but what is better for wrist health fingertip or claw or does it not play a factor?
that is rly good. i’m also on that mark
horizontal or oblique?
i dont have any equipment but my max amount push ups is 89 or 90
in a row?
ye
loool hell ye dude wtf that’s awesome
ty ty
how much do u weigh
98kg with that height and u can do 90 push-ups? xd
ye
u gotta be like arnold schwarzenegger or smt like that
lol
i do like 40 every day when i get the chance
and i drink alot of water so maybe thats the reason
haha well when i wanted to reach my high score i did as much as i could then i took a 2 day break of push ups and then finally i went for high score and i got 90
i started of doing it for a girl i liked and then it became a hobby
oh ahahaha hope u got her then
almost still trying haha
98kg at 13 😳🤔
Age? @violet swan
Fat mf
What height are you
6 3
lol

@gaunt hill 14
i think u are kinda underweight tho
i get really bad hand pains when playing kovaaks
like literally never get it in any game
but when i aim train my hand kills and i its really triggering me
Are you new to aimtrainer ? how much time do you spend on kovaaks each session/day
i have had it a while but i dont really use it
i played it two days ago and realised how poor my aim actually is

so this is my 2nd attempt on trying to do it daily
Don't force/hurt yourself, you can start with small sessions like 15/30 min
its really frustrating though cause im trying to get through the whole cod routine the sparky one and my hand is killing me..
u might need to improve setup ergono, ics
make sure ur back straight
arms at good angle
some people run keyboard 90 deg and it fucks with back and their aiming arm
and shits on wrist
as well as looking at your sens and how firmly you grip mouse, how good is mouse shape etc.
i play with my keyboard at 90 deg
i have to admit i slouch alot in my chair
when im doing something that requires tracking i grip my mouse really hard 😆 idk why im trying to stop i think that could be it
k well theres 3 things that u need to fix
90 deg keyboard was some weird fn hype shit
that is awful for your health
idk i saw dfalt do it in cod
and hes a beast so i tried it and i kinda like it
but if its bad for health i guess i will have to stop
have any of you guys experienced pain in the thumb in the area between the two knuckles while tracking.
i just started to feel some mild pain so I stopped immediately
I had that and i was both angling my thumb too much and gripping too tight with it
Gripping too hard can cause that
I experienced it recently with practicing guitar actually
Took a few days off and had to actively remember to not death grip
Been getting a lot of wrist pain recently, will adding stretches before & after playing help this?
stretches will definitely help
try doing the wrist stretches in between rounds
i think there's a doc on them somewhere
Yeah looking through some of the things pinned in the channel, ty mate
Any tips on how to make habit creation and replacement easier during quarantine?
anyone know anything about air purifiers?
with the stretching routine i cant do it since its hard to understand on paper is there any work around to this?
zeeq
cant tell if dickrider or coincidence
maybe he is a big fan of zeeq smart pillow
Lmao
Ye i got a daiso air purifier
Seems useless
It just tells me I have good air already
Maybe useful if u live in pollution
im tryna get rid of excess dust in my room
my basements being finished and my home air purifier is down in the meantime
there's dust traveling up my vents and i have to wipe my desk and everything like every 3 days

was thinking about buying a small purifier just for my room
yo can anyone here field a weightlifting question i got?
go ahead i'll try
When I aim, is it ok if my wrist is on the table, or am I supposed to keep my wrist off the table?
I've noticed that it drags when I'm aiming but that could be just because i don't have a mousepad
how would your wrist be off the table?
anyone here use footrests
ngl its getting too depressing trying to improve but 0 progress
You might be doing it wrong
Change up training
Depending on how long you’ve been stuck
the outside on my mouse hand/arm feels really weird. like tingling and kinda numb
I stretch regularly and I don’t know what the problem is
hey I was doing the streching routine and I noticed im feeling some very minor pain going like i inch down my wrist in the location where if u bend you can see that muscle or tendon
should i just let my hand rest for the day to be safe
its gone now
Why do i always feel super tired when i play kovvaks like will not be tired before but like 10 min in i wall just fall asleep straight on my mousepad.
It’s probably because you’re really bored and not as interested in kovaaks when you play @honest cedar
A lot of people like to listen to podcasts or music to make it a bit more interesting
I listen to music and i still get sleepy
I was listening to the dictators podcast
Im thinking sonething is prob wrong with me because i seem not sleept when i get on kovvaks but only 10 min in im sleepy.
Do you play kovaaks everyday?
You’re probably just burnt out take a little break and you’ll have a little more motivation to play when you come back
yea
does not eating harm you?
because Im feeling kind of strange with the breakfast I ate this morning, and don't really want to eat anything
Depends how long you go without eating
But after a certain amount of time your body will start using your stored fat/glucose for energy you’ll also feel a little more tired, probably weak, and feel less focused from not eating
you can also sometimes become more prone to getting irritated/mad depending on how hungry you are
Anybody know if intermittent fasting negatively affects performance and aim? I plan on doing it as I want to lose a lot of weight and it seems to be the most effective method out there rn
there's mixed data from what I could tell
some sources claim intermittent fasting can actually help mental clarity
Yeah, that’s what I saw as well. However, everyone I talk to is super traditional in the sense that they believe that everyone should eat like five or six small meals throughout the day.
I did some IF research back in the day for a school project
what I found was that there's no actual bonus to weight loss outside of having less time of day when you can eat leading to you eating less
but there were some other benefits
generally if an athlete is cutting weight they're eating often just having smaller meals
my current meal plan by a professional coach is a relatively aggressive cut and I'm on 6 meals a day
I had a surgery a few day ago. Currently on antibiotics, ibuprofen and paracetamol to relieve the pain. Noticed I'm much more tired and also in-game I'm a lot slower / worse than usual. Is this normal?
That’s normal it’s probably just the side effects of one of the medicines you’re taking. It can possibly be the ibuprofen since one of the possible side effects is drowsiness I believe @static ferry
If you are on that amount of medicin I would just rest instead of gaming @static ferry
im no doctor at all tho
true, just dont overdo I guess
after wisdom teeth surgery i climbed a lot in ow
i was on enough pain killers to enjoy main tank and have good mentals
and thats the story of hitting top 500
is there a way to get your hands to sweat less, not that i sweat much i just like a chalky feeling when gaming, sweat prevents that.
Yeah I had wisdom teeth surgery too
Have another one in 3 weeks
I dont know if this is the right place to ask but I have been clicking my fingers for years and there not less responsive shake a bit and have terrible coordination compared to what they used to be like so I was wondering what I should do to try and recover from this?
@steel quest How old are you?
Nah bro I didn't ask cos health roles here seem to be super qualified so they're much more fitting
oh okay 🙂
should i have my arms resting on an armrest or no
Has anyone tried using f.lux? Seems like a pretty cool software that might help with eyestrain
Windows has night light feature
does anyone have wrist excercises / arm hand to prevent pains and stuff like that? i want to kovaak but aches some times come and i dont want to kovaak while have pains
check out the ones in the pinned messages
@worthy cloud #tech message (msg link, for future)
nice

@muted fiber 14
How do I fix tension in my neck and shoulder blade when playing kovaaks
Is there an ideal time to sleep? I feel like getting 8 hours of sleep at 3am wouldnt be as good as 8 hours at 10pm
@violet swan yeah, that's just fucking with your own sleep schedule
and makes it hard to get work done
if sleeping at 3 am is your usual routine and still sleep for 8 hours i believe there will be no difference in health issues at all than sleeping at say 9pm - 12 am
it's just that your schedule will not align to normal circumstances and other people's schedule and will most likely reduce your productivity
probably no sun as well
as long as your body clock isn't disrupted, like constantly changing your sleep schedule there's will be no other problems
it's more natural for your body to fall asleep in the evening say like 9-11pm then later
it's been studied night-shift workers are very unhealthy simply due to the time they sleep. Though they generally fall asleep in the morning 6am onward
but I think a big factor is age. If you're a teen or pretty young it doesn't matter. As you get older you should shift to a better sleep schedule, and a lot of times that will come naturally
those studies contains people with inconsistent sleep schedules and lack of sleep though so can't really get anything from that
another factor would probably be lacking sunlight but tbh just sleep at 11 12 or smth lol
yes you can, it is very hard to keep a normal sleep schedule while sleeping during the day
and it goes against your bodies natural circadian rhythms
again, if you're a zoomer it doesn't matter though. It will be a heavy toll on your health as you get older
good sleep is extremely important to general health
Sounds good, thanks the help guys
bump
Melatonin helps a lot for short term fixing you can also avoid blue light an hour before bed, exercise, skip naps during the day, and avoid caffeine close to bed time, etc
21:00-5:00 works well for me
how are you suppose to avoid blue light an hour before sleep?
doesn't the light in your house have bluelight already?
you can wear orange glasses
they make safety glasses that are designed to block blue light for laser safety
that are cheap
but from what i've heard, it's brightness more than blueness that matters
and you mostly need to avoid bright light between about 11pm to 4am
cus it fucks up your circadian rhythm
i believe it was an andrew huberman interview where i heard this
the light in your house is quite different from the light from screens
especially if you have incandescent bulbs
which are predominantly orange/yellow
it's not that
if there is any blue wavelength it's gonna keep you up
it's that if you're bathing in a very bright light source (such as a screen or the sun, both of which are generally brighter relative to you than the lights in your room since ur shoving ur face into ur screen and sunlight is 1000x brighter than indoor light), especially if that light source has a lot of the blue wavelength, your body thinks it's daytime
the lightbulbs in your house probably don't shove nearly as much light into your eyes as you do when you're using the computer or outside
and it's not very blue either generally
i can also second melatonin as an excellent way to fix an off kilter sleep schedule
i keep having pains in my forearm about along the black line
at some times itll flash with pain
anyone have experience with restlessness/agitation/frustration when missing targets in kovaaks? I find it difficult to do more than 5-10 minutes because of it, but ingame i never experience anything like it.
@half schooner there’s a christmasiscancelled video on that exact topic
With any arm or wrist pain, do stretches and take a long break
Also to fix sleep schedule go for a walk to get sun. That will really help your sleep
Make sure to use a blue light filter on your phone. I use the built-in one for samsung + twilight. Shit gets super red lol
hello boys
Lately I've started feeling like my chair is gonna break
any recommended ones?
Anything that isn't a "gaming chair"
I planned and bought dinners for the entire week for maybe the first time in my life. No more frozen pizza shit
I was healthy before, even ran a half marathon, but then I lived with mom 🤣 Time to get back to that level.
i cooked
Imagine not cooking
bro I have had mcdonalds breakfast every day I have been in college @flat venture
I have been craving that shit so bad
Idk what it is but McDonald's breakfast sandwiches are so addicting
4pounds for hot meal kinda pogger
Bro the whole ass meal is addicting nxm
Lucky, they got rid of the mcwrap in usa
And yeah I agree yung
But the breakfast sandwiches are extra addicting
I need to stop eating them but its so cold when I get into the town my college is in
and im too lazy to eat before I leave
shits addicting ye
Health nerds
Whats the average pulse for a non athletic person while walking at 5kmh
thats rough
ive had a head cold for a day or 2 and i dont kno how to stop it any help?
prob like 100-120
Is it bad to like run until you cant run anymore
For my cardio I normally just go on a run and then when I'm tired i just walk home
Well, running is very demanding on your legs. You shouldn't start out too hard.
And mix it up with the terrain you run on.
Do intervall training one day, and then you can do a tempo run, where you hold a decent steady pace most of the run. And maybe an easy run to finish of the week.
Maybe a tempo run in terrain as well, it's better for the legs.
Ok thanks
time to get into calisthenics again
how do i reset my sleep schedule if i've been sleeping at 3am
And set an alarm so you don't sleep 12hrs straight after staying up for 22hrs
Look up "couch to 5k" if you want a progressive way to build up running for like 30mins consistently
It's not that I want to build the distance I do running as cardio in addition to my Normal gym work normally I just run until I cant anymore and though that it might not be that effective to do that
Ah shit I was looking a way to avoid that
Nvm it's for a better time and not missing breakfast
it isn't as effective as couch to 5k
Alright I will look into it
a workout program is usually going to be better imo
I mean it's nice to be able to run a certain distance too
also you don't have to do the program exactly. If you already have good enough stamina you can skip weeks
super easy. Could even skip to like week 4
session 1/2/3 = 3x a week
I did a long time ago but it's winter here and I don't have a treadmill, might do it spring now that I think about it
I mean
I built my stamina to be able to run like 45mins
I can already run 5k pretty quick
then ignore everything I put lol. Maybe someone will find it useful
O sorry
I should of specified how much I run
explain to me how a cold shower torture is supposed to help my aim again?
bloodflow
wait, is this suppose to be good before or after aim training?@silent osprey
I plan to do it two times a day
one in the morning, one before bed
either is productive i suppose, but before since you get ur blood circulating for when ur aiming
is there any proper method to cold shower?
is there any proper method to cold shower?
I know it is a really hard idea to think off
@summer verge stop being a dick
? XD
ty orca
just take a shower tbh
how
????
if u need an article on how to wipe ur ass or brush ur teeth hmu
no problem
hit navin up orca
You got one for washing your dick?
can you guys stop being dicks ?
i currently only have 1080p
fuck
I have a naturally sweaty palm... is it bad to wear gaming gloves when playing?
@reef coyote nope, there are some very high level players who also wear gloves
you can get good scores with them
not sure, I guess bacause they are not real
so when I notice Im dreaming I just want to wake up
dreams are either cool or really strange and i only remember them about 1% of the time
it feels like watching a really boring really bad show
like watching alice in wonderland
what a nightmare of a world, that show fills me with dread
same with spirited away
I hate those normal people trapped in a fantasy world setting
imagine a world with no video games, depressing
i get pains in my pinky finger on my left hand. What should I do?
quit bad business
im sorry i had to, talk to a doctor probably or if you're using your pinky for something frequently, find an alternative
gaming
@clear sigil what kind of gloves we talking
do u have a link
kind of want to get one of those compression gloves if it helps with preventing injuries and stuff
so I've developed intense back pain in my back
other than stretching is there anything that can stop that?
I'm already sitting in a good position so I got no idea what to do
x)
okay I'll see what I can do about taht thanks
chances is u’ve got pain in your low back
am I right?
look into getting a foam roller and proper back rolling exercises for it
also never sit longer than an hour. Ideally get up every 30mins and do some kind of stretch
Nah it's actually between my shoulder blades
@civic knoll
sure I'll do that and try to stand abit more
I usually stand for way longer than that without standing
mindfulness is some next level shit
is it good if i take a break while doing an aim training routine for like 30 minutes if my wrist hurts a bit/ i feel fatigued?
@lost sundial take a break
what's a relatively easy to get into exercise or physical activity that uses hand eye coordination
obviously excluding gaming
any sport?
like tennis
is there one I can do it by myself? and without the need to buy equipment
or atleast, not expensive equipment
u can just bounce the ball against a wall to play it solo
and tennis racket and ball not very expensiv
Excersize using hand eye coordination that you can do by yourself without much equipment
ye, I just want some physical stuff to do under the sun without boring myself out
what about juggling
bounce a tennis ball off a wall or smth?
bouncing a ball off of wall sounds boring as hell tbh
ye well
theres not many optionss
when ur doing it by ur self

maybe play tennis or smth if u wanna improve hand eye coordination
but ud need someone to play with and a racket
ye, that's the problem
It's not that I don't have people to play with, but I like to keep my schedule flexible
guys what is the best way to improve lack of awareness like when im playing fn i just cant see some things im losing focus when i’m in fights and things like that
can't really do much outside of just playing more
learn the recognize possible outcomes, read the shapes and such
if you're talking about a gamesense issue then that generally comes with just playing more yeah
and imma be honest I start playing much more passively the longer the game session goes; caffeine helps with that but I wouldn't recommend it
energy drinks are poison
wear more clothes and you should feel warmer as you get deeper into your workout
@dull trail see thats the problem
wearing more clothes to workout
means i sweat like more and i cant really move
ye so just take a bag with you and you can put your clothes in there
or you can go kinda lighter like a windbreaker and the sweating won't feel as bad
oh ur right a windbreaker
dam i need to find mine
thanks man ye that will be perfect
after aim training as someone with like horrible aim should my hand muscles feel like theyve been through a workout
i think that means micromuscle development but idk
Yes, but if the pain lingers for a couple hours after you've stopped training I would suggest introducing stretching if you haven't already
thats fine if it doesnt bother you @reef coyote
This has probably been asked and answered a million times, but I really struggle with cold hands and was wondering if there are any good fixes. If I stretch and use my hands under warm water it only takes a few minutes for them to get cold again. I can have a fairly high indoor temperature and they still often get cold (not every single time). Are any good ways to prevent this during gaming and also is there any type of therapy that could help against this. Same goes to my toes
Why does my elbow tingle when I flick down?
I looked up elbow tingling flicking down on google and its some pretty scary stuff
yeah it went away
like after 30-45
have you tried exercising, maybe like a small warmup routine for your arms before you start gaming?
@violet swan I would still introduce streching if you haven't already 🙂
I could probably start doing that I guess. I've thought about it previously and tried it, but the only issue is obviously me getting tired and that it requires like 5-10 minutes
Could be something w cubital tunnel honestly might be worth going to dr fir
For
@violet swan Do any of these positions reproduce the same symptoms you experience with flicking down?
uh
its so low res
i cant make it otu
google ULTT and images
idk why I am challenged when it comes to ctrl C ctrl V
res
How do you know when to take a break from kovaaks to prevent injury? There has been a slight sharp pain in my hand for the past two days and im not sure if im fine to keep going or if I should stop to make sure I don't get a longer term injury
It only hurts when aimtraining or playing games, it doesnt hurt when im just walking around doing everyday tasks
whats your sens? could be too much wrist movement. i would definitely stop, there shouldn't be any pain
you should treat your mouse like a piece of paper that you dont want to crush, if theres too much force it creates unnecessary tension in your wrist
i've had sessions go on for hours without any pain whatsoever because I play on low sens and use a very loose grip
any recommendations for adjustable height desks?
my sens is 29cm/360
they are not that expensive and they have very good options too
there is also fully
yeah @floral lintel mine is 31 so it must not be a sens issue, try giving it a break fully until you can move it with no pain, it will suck but its better than creating a possibly permanent problem
@floral lintel give it like a week man
@wanton inlet where can I find info for recommended desk height/chair height, bc i have a measuring tape rn and the position where my hands would be relaxed, elbows at 90 degree angles is like a couple inches shorter than what most adjustable desks offer as their lowest setting
they tell you the lowest possible height of the desk, you might want to get a bigger chair then if your legs are touching the floor and you have to bend them
idk that much about chairs, sorry
holy shit they're quite expensive
thanks knarlzy
yeahh
i think im gonna go for the autonomous egochair2
it looks nice and has similar adjustment oppurtunities
@floral lintel and it sucks man I got shin splints and i tried running on them through my season and instead of them going away it just made my season horrible, if i had just let them fully heal it would've been much better, i guess its a similar to issue to what you're having
I have tension in my neck when aimtraining, what can I do
How does good nutrition affect performance? I am a person who drinks and eats a lot of sugar. I'm 2 or 3 cokes a day, I drink one soup a week, I go to the fast food 2x a week, I never eat fruit. I really need to know how much it can play a role ... So that I can motivate myself to eat better.
@kindred lantern probably leaning in, best tip is move around and stand up every couple of min
Clear cut sign to give it a rest for a week. If pain persists, see a doctor.
nutrition very much affects performance
both cognitively and physically
there is probably a 100% chance that if you eat very poorly you are holding back your body in some way
you don't need to be a super health nut to make sure your body gets what it needs, but you need to be eating fruits and vegetables from time to time and keeping your diet generally balanced
your motivation to eat healthier shouldnt just be limited to gaming performance as well because it realistically will end up affecting every domain in your life
performance-wise and a la the fact that health problems have quite an impact
Thanks, will try
🛀
sleep at 12:30 am
and wake up at 7:45

oh no really
I usually take a shower everyday
