Workout, start eating better and do stretches instead of sitting for 12 hours
Is it good to ice your wrists after playing games and aim trainers for a few hrs?
i would recommend the book called the inner game of tennis i learned a lot from it
it's not about video games but you can apply it
I will look into this ty
Anyone got tips for quitting weed
putting too much pressure into base of thumb when playing aimtrainers causing it too hurt. when playing non aimtrainers this doesnt happen and if i dont put pressure into it while playing aimtrainers i aim worse. any advice?
You kind of answered your own question with your first sentence I think
hey guys, any ideas how to easy muscle tension in flicking scenarios. Especially in speed TS. I have recently returned to doing speedTS and my arm is not accustomed to the fast movements i used to do before..
i would rather apply heat, but you shouldnt have a need to do any of that after a session
it should be pain free without any weird sensations
if it isnt you arent just conditioned for that much load
- Make a plan. Having a clear goal in mind. make a plan for how you’ll quit marijuana and remain sober.
- Get rid of stuff that makes you think of weed.
- Identify triggers and strategize how to deal with them.
- Support. See who is around you. If the people around are hardcore smokes, then you should cut ties with them or at least let them know that you want to quit and would appreciate not talking or mentioning it. Have friends or parents or even people here to talk to, keep you accountable, etc.
- Find a weed replacement. It can be a food like gum, or a physical activity like sport, yoga or whatever. When the craving hits go to that replacement
- Taper instead of going cold turkey
-
External focus of attention. This means to focus on the result and not "how" its done. dont focus on your fingers, hand, or arm movement. Just focus on the target or "drawing a smooth line" to the target.
-
Do some PMR (progressive muscle relaxation) before or after scenarios
-
Practice deep breathing
The aim guys might have more aim specific input
I think I might have a RSI in my thumb possibly, for like a year and a half or so. Any guidance of what I should do about it? Stop training obviously I would assume but, idk for how long or anything as well as what else to do. Gonna get a brace and continue stretches I do but yeah idk
But Doc, if i want to focus on learning new precise hand movements, like I have done recently by trying to incorporate more fingertips into my aim(I noticed my fingers were a very idle part of my "bio ergonomics"), will it then be fine to focus on the movements of my arm if that's one of my goals?
When i aim and i flare my elbow out to the right and my hand in towards my body my aim becomes better. Is this a habit i should pursue or should i avoid it and relearn to not flare it out. I am currently testing with highering my chair to see if that is the problem, i just wonder how bad of a habit the one mentioned is.
So I think simply placing your hand and fingers in the correct position before starting the scenario is a good place to start, but actively thinking about your fingers during the actual run goes against learning research.
You can also do mental reminders like “My fingers are light and accurate” while focusing on the targets.
If you are already heavily ingrained with some previous way of aiming and it has become automatic then there are different approaches to that. Four more or less known ways are:
Old Way New Way method
Five-A Method
Error Amplification Method
Directed Forgetting
The first and third might be best
It will affect your posture and add pressure on parts of your body so best to try and play with healthy ergonomics
Rest for only a couple days. Then slowly and gradually build up activity. Do exercises for the area.
Key to recover is light gradual increase.
okay cuz I was doing 2 hours of aim training a day so now ill do like idk 30 mins after a couple of days, and is doing wrist/hand strengthening stuff good as well? I hadnt been before but I want to now for like 2-4 times a week or something. Also what exercises do you suggest? its like idk the knuckle on the inside I think
I’d say start a little lower at 15-20 mins and work from there. Yes do strengthening exercises. Also start low. I don’t really know much in the realm of which exercises. Pretty sure 1HP has content and recommendations
how do i fix my eyes and health when playing?
im almost bat-shiznut-blind and i'm actually scared it's gonna get worse
i can't clearly see my fingers from an arms length away
ive been playing like
really close to my screen
for a bit now
and have almost 8 years(coming up to 9) of close-screen gaming
Okay ty ❤️
Do you have appropriate lens prescription?
ye + blue light protection
but eyesight still gradually getting worse
do eye stretches, train yourself to look away very often
i guess maybe consider getting laser surgery, though it's rlly not my sphere of knowledge to give advice on that
with the right lifestyle, you can probably make your eyes good again, but it will take a while
Hey Doc, I have another question for you. Remember when you said a new high score shouldn't be set as a goal. Isn't a new record a feasible thing to works towards? It's an indicator that you killed more things and played the scenario more efficiently in some way.
Well its a vicious circle. Eyesight is bad, you get closer to monitor, it gets worse.
Talk in depth to your optimetrist
A better goal is an improved average
A high score is very dependent on multiple things like, how well you slept, your level of alertness, mood, etc. There are good days and bad days
If you put that as a goal and you don’t achieve it it can backfire.
Your average is a better indication of actual sustained improvement, not just about having one great run.
This is my story on how Nofap after One year changed my life. I share what I had gone thru to completely rid myself of PMO addiction and what it REALLY took to quit forever. Hopefully, this video shows you that if I could muster up the courage to end this addiction, you could as well.

im near 4 years (December) 🙂
do it bros
I try so hard I can't do it
one tip too; just dont watch porn, it will not trigger that desire
and take it day by day, promise urself u wont do it for that 1 day, then do the same the next day and so on
u just have to a man and control it 🙂
its hard at first, but then it will be easier
first step is what u need
👍 Thats the one good thing I've always made sure to avoid porn as much as possible
damn
I tried to commit suicide yesterday. My mom says I should rest during the week, I train when I wake up and before bed and I don't want to lose my rhythm. Do you think that training just before bed will impact my performance?
i think u should get the training in if u didnt for that day, also; its not that good to train at night because it will increase ur adrenaline levels that will disturb sleep a bit, @cerulean terrace
I think training before bed is good but NEVER train when you don't feel like it or it won't accomplish anything
I guess it depends on your habits I'm okay with training before I got of because I'm always watching youtube before bed so I have plenty of time to cool down
right ye, thats ok too
You tried to commit suicide? Is this true?
yes I cut my wrists but it was superficial. Now I'm fine I think.
I saw that before bed it helps a lot with memory
Hey Brunno do you want to share what you’re going through privately? You can DM me
would be great. I hope I don't bother with anything.
Guys weird question but I would like to understand the concept of mouse control (not to improve, I am just curious). Is it just that the hand becomes used to specific motions and the more they are performed under pressure, the better they get?
Hi guys. My wrist shakes a lot when i move it. Always, not only when i hold a mouse. I played smoothness scenarios in kovaaks for a long time, and nothing changed. Shaking occurs, when i move it left and right, up and down. I also can't bend my fingers smoothly.
thank you very much for the words of support. Yes, I'm from Brazil. I'm happy to know that there are people from our country on voltaic
why would u lol
its goin down ya digestive system either way, and i dont think ur really going to get a whole lot of sublingual absorption
thanks doc.
When i move my mouse to the right with my arm my arms and wrists muscles rappidly contracts and uncontracts so i cant aim. Any fix to this?
How can I improve my mental health?
Im currently 14 and already feel like I’m burned out of everything and feel like shit daily, and feel as if I am losing will to live day by day
try not masturbate, exercise, meditate, eat good food, manage stress, sleep well @glacial dagger
These are a good start
But the real help tends to be learning how to be self-aware, and how to find direction and meaning to your life.
Thank you a lot for sharing and being open about it. That’s the hardest part.
nice advice 🙂
I would say to try and get a little help from a psychologist or someone from Healthy Gamer.
I’m here if you need a buff but I understand that its difficult to tackle and usually takes a little time and effort to untangle all those thoughts and emotions.
I struggled with heavy depression for a while so trust me when I say getting a little help goes a long way
whenever i move my wrist left it clicks its not painfull tho
anyone else have a issue with cold hands while playing
im in pretty good shape and i do some physical activity dAILY
i think it has to do w my caffeine intake
i dont smoke or anything either
but anyways do u guys have any solutions to keep hands warm?
honestly somewhjat normal for someone at 14 in this gen
so dont lose hope
but obviously always try to better ur situation
is it only in competitive games?
uum its defo worse when playing
but do you have the same issue playing singleplayer games?
I think so but its more annoying in competitive games
for sure has an effect on my aim
for me its performance anxiety related but i cant speak for your case, i could do 30 mins of cardio but my hands turn to ice cubes as soon as i play if im not feeling confident
huh interesting
yeah maybe its mental related
anyway try proper breathing and staying calm
and decent posture helps
if nutrition and exercise is in check and if its only happening in comp games i cant think of anything else
could be vascular disease of some sort aswell
its pressure from the stakes of the game
if its worse in game
yeah my mental health wasnt always the best easily tilting and etc. but recently its been at its worse
I would not go that far
To expand on what @pulsar niche and @glacial dagger said
There are two mindsets when approaching a problem or situation: a challenge mindset or a threat mindset
When you approach something and look at it as a challenge your body and mind react differently to when you look at it as a threat.
One of the differences is that when its a challenge your arteries and blood vessels tend to “open up” to prepare for the task. On the other hand if you look at it as a threat your blood vessels constrict which could theoretically lead to cold hands.
This might be the case.
yeah unlikely, seems decently common for people to get cold hands in a competitive environment
i dont know how to approach it myself either, logically it makes no sense to see the game as a threat but its like an autonomous body response
How did you slowly got rid of it?
It does when you think about it. Everytime you face off against someone or something it’s basically a “Them vs Me” situation. The level of difficulty of the challenge vs your level of skill and competency.
Even though there is no risk of physical harm, there is a chance your ego can get bruised and instead of rolling with it you subconsciously “protect the ego” by running away
This is something even I’m still working on in Valorant.
I saw added me as a friend. I don’t accept requests unless I know the person but you can still DM me. The gist of it is two things:
- Improve your lifestyle. Their is a HUGE correlation between your health and depression. Literally things like eating sugar has been linked with inflammation which then causes depression.
Sleep 8-9 hours
Eat a good diet
Exercise (biggest buff)
Don’t be looking at screens all day
Meditate
Journaling
Gratitude
There are scientific reasons for all of these btw
- “Finding purpose”. I don’t like the phrase because it makes it sound like we all have some hidden meaning for life waiting to “be found”. Learning that the enjoyment is in the journey not the destination but having a general sense of direction or what makes you happy in life.
Two little advice for that: 1. Talk to a psychologist or coach from Healthy Gamer. Just having someone that helps you formulate thoughts is super awesome and helpful
- You can look up “Ikigai” on YT and try it out. It’s a nice little handwritten exercise that helped me a lot find something to work towards and motivate me
This is tough especially for a 14 year old but the fact that you are openly talking about this leads me to think you are one smart kid. So I challenge you to try some of these things out. Pick one or two things and go at it! You’ll be amazed how little things can lead to huge change
thanks for the help doc, i'll be trying the stuff you said and listed, although the looking at screens all day is unfortunately almost unavoidable for me i'll try to reduce it by an hour or two much love for you for helping me out through a rough time
espsecially since mental help isn't really accessible to me
Make a game out of it. You can read the book SuperBetter to see how it can work
Think of time off as the screen as leveling up
Doing something like standing up and getting water or a little exercise a power ups
If you watch a lot of YT then use it to watch Dr. from Healthy Gamer. His content helped me a ton
my middle and ring fingers start hurting after a few scenarios in kovaaks and after a game or two of ow2. Not sure how to mitigate this pain. Using the Deathadder v3 and I palm it, have had this issue with pretty much every mouse I've had since 2020
have you tried spending a full day with claw or fingertip that might help
haven't
try it
buy an electric handwarmer off amazon?. I did too
I'm near sighted, but have considered using glasses on PC aswell cause I have astigmatism.
Do people use Normal glasses or computer glasses? I heard computer glasses gives a bit of a zoom, less FoV?
not all of them I think
I felt out of breath when I got out of bed today, I haven't been moving around so much.
My mother fears I could be diabetic as I've been consuming soft drinks and unhealthy food a lot lately, I'm sedentary and often need water and to use the toilet. I seldom drink water at times because I hate needing to go to the toilet after drinking. What can I do here? I also want to be slimmer but I'm considering going on hormones to alleviate gender dysphoria.
Thats a lot to unpack
But biggest step is owning up to these things and wanting to work on them so great job on doing so
From the weight side it comes down to: eating a little less, eating a little healthier, doing a little exercise, sleeping a little better.
That's it. Little by little working on it. Work on whatever you can realistically accomplish at first and get better at it little by little. In time the results are huge
You should go to a doctor to verify if you have diabetes. That is important. And you should also bring up your gender dysphoria with a psychologist.
Exploring your thoughts and beliefs is extremely important before committing to something as impactful as going on hormones
If you want to talk to someone you can contact Healthy Gamer for some cheap sessions.
I can also recommend a book called SuperBetter. It shows how to treat your life like a video game to get great physical and psychological results. Written by a PhD and game designer
Probably better to ask in the Fitness section
everything feels boring and slightly intimidating for me to do when it comes to productivity stuff - was planning to prepare for an interview this week but i've done next to nothing for it.
Usually i can get stuff done a bit more if i were to go out but i find i don't want to go out for a few reasons, including a fairly serious incident that happened to my mother quite recently.
lately i've just been on other channels complaining about a specific game and i'm slightly worried about how this will be handled by the server. it's something that does quite irritate me as there's nothing i can do to change what i hate about it.
Occasionally i tend to consider alcohol, the only reason i don't wish to become addicted and dependent on it is because i really want to be slimmer and i want to avoid organizations like AA to be required to quit it
I tend to keep running out of anti-anxiety medication i've been prescribed as i tend to not be so good with trying to restock them. my mother doesn't exactly support me taking it too
i am considering consulting Healthy Gamer, but i want to look at prices first before i confirm.
Yes these are complex issues. Only real 1 on 1 sessions could help. Best I could do is help you keep accountable. Like pick a goal (example: Book a session with Healthy Gamer on Friday) and I can make sure you do it.
i want to know how much they'd pay first of all, sorry if i'm coming across as rude
if im starting to develop rsi symtoms in my arm (tingling and pressure from elbow to hand), how long should i rest before returning to playing games
You can look it up in 10 seconds
Its on their website
ok, thanks
Just a couple days. The big thing is easing back into it and doing proper exercises and stretching
Don’t rest 3 days then go bsck to playing the same amount
how do i improve my skin
i got hyperpigmentation around my lips and my eyes
i have melanin and my hands dry up a lot
Where tf is my aim lately I have a few good games and it’s gone. My wrist and forearm feel really tight idk if I’ve just been aim training too much or what but I’m very inconsistent lately
You probably answered your own question
I’m smarter than I thought
ive been feeling some pain in the back of my wrist and hurts to apply pressure too, the stretches have helped defuse this but the pain is still there at times. I am not sure if I need to ice or heat my wrist but I even took nearly a week off and came back and started feeling it again. Any recommendations to help with this?
Don’t take a long breaka nd then just come back to the same amount of wrist use
Take a couple days off
Then gradually go back up in use
While stretching and doing exercises
good to know, thank you! I will try to go a bit easier on it. Also, do you think heating or icing it will help reduce the pain and help performance?
or does that not really help all too much
Not really
how do i stop feeling tensed up whenver i do scenarios like vt bounceshot
my shoulders just stop working and they go at .5 normal speed
Do you guys happen to know what is acceptable amounts of pain vs what is too much / a warning of a major injury?
No pain is acceptable
Don't confuse soreness for pain
Actually
if you get sore playing games see a doctor
or maybe do some cardio
what could pain in your fingers/knuckles indicate
mainly ring and middle knuckles
No pain
u have 2 days to live
U here all night?
yes
i also have pain in my hand, sometimes its mainly because i tense up my hand especially when shooting small targets
Don't tens youe hand them, stop focusing on scores and focus on keeping your hand comfortable and loose
not sure if this is the right place for this but my aim is quite unsmooth when i use clawgrip due to my lower hand and maybe upper wrist coming into tension with my mousepad, anything i can do to fix it?
a lot of aimers use arm sleeves, u can also move ur hand grip up the mouse for less tension with the mouse pad
There is nothing wrong with your hand/wrist touching your mousepad, but it could just be friction-related. An arm sleeve could help maybe
I have a certain issue myself that I would like an opinion on.
for many years now I have this weird issue of how my body just refuses to fall asleep at days when I need to get up for work. I only work 2 days per week (part time job, because I am a student) and my hours are incredibly short. I have been doing my job for years now and it is pretty stress-free, so I am not having any form of anxiety around my work. In terms of my education, all is going well either so I have no worries of those floating in my head. I started doing a little bit of digging around on the internet and some people suggested that it could be that I am worrying about not oversleeping, however, my alarm is something that never comes to mind at all during the night, so it is not that either.
When I say that I am unable to fall asleep, I am basically laying in my bed with my eyes closed, being "conscious"/aware that I am laying in bed, but never really ever drifting off into deep sleep. I obviously occasionally drift off for an hour or so, but it feels like to me that I am awake all night. As you can expect, this really hurts the quality of my sleep and 99% of the time I walk around like a zombie on these days. It also makes the nights unbearably long.
During any other day or even during the weekend this issue rarely ever happens. The only exception being this weekend: I ended up getting the flu on friday. I tried to rest as much as possible by going to bed a little earlier than I normally do, but for 3 consecutive nights I have been stuck on the border of "being awake and also nearly falling asleep", yet again not achieving deep sleep and waking up tired, which sucks cause some good rest could help well with my flu.
Today I had to get out of bed for work again. Due the fact that I didn't sleep for the last 2 days, I expected it would be easier this time. Yet again, it didn't happen. It is now 04:30 am as I am writing this post, which is the first time in ever that I woke up this early just because I got fed up.
When I am laying in bed, I most of the time do not think about anything. I just try to focus on my breathing as some sort of "meditation", so it is not like that my mind is occupied with a lot of things that keep me awake at night.
Does anyone know what possibly could be the issue or how I could tackle this? Because the exhaustion that this "insomnia" brings is quite often too hard to deal with.
Doing a sleep study might be your best bet at this point. It’s hard to tell. Could be a range of things from some form of anxiety (you can have silent anxiety and this is how it manifests), shift work sleep disorder, etc. No way to know for sure though here.
General things I can say is to follow the sleep guidelines in our lifestyle guide. You can also try PMR (progressive muscle relaxation) to aid in sleep. There are a bunch of scientific tips in the guide so might be worth checking it out.
is it bad if my hand is sweating while training?
do you drink any caffeine? even when I drink caffeine early in the day it sometimes still hurts my sleep so I tend to avoid buying caffeinated products and avoid drinking any caffeine past 5
I drink caffeine on the occassion but not very frequent.
Firstly I want to say what a great initiative it is to have a tab for health on the community discord! Secondly I have a question regarding eyes, I notice I sometimes get teary eyes while training, even only after a few minutes doing fundamentals. Is this a common issue or anything to be concerned about?
Thanks,
your probably staring or trying way to hard at least it only happens to me when i do that
or when you play for a long time or when your monitor is too close to you but i doubt its that since you said it only hapens after a few minutes
It could well be a problem of staring to hard! I am on a 16inch laptop sitting about an arms length away so maybe its size is the issue.
Thanks for the reply, any idea on how to avoid staring to hard?
honeslty not sure hasnt rely happend t me in a few years just know the difference between focusing and staring
like if your able to see the monitors pixels instead of it looking like a fluid screen at least for me thats how i tell
All right Ill try be more conscious about how I'm looking at my screen, thank you!
always been doing wrist exercises before aim train, lately I got this slight wrist pain in this area, any advice on how to treat that?
Check out 1HP’s resources on ergonomics.
Mostly from a mixture of intensity and not blinking. When you’re super focused your blink rate goes down.
Feel free to tag a 1HP member for that or you can check their resources. That’s their specialty
same
is it weird that when i do the hand rotations exercise my palms are cracking
well just in my right palm
i think u find it hard to sleep on work days because u r trying to force urself to sleep, u cant do that, u have to let go, thats why its called "falling" asleep,
it cracks with me aswell
would getting an adjustable desk help with shoulder pain
i feel like my current desk is too high so my arm is in a weird position
Or you choukd get a higher chair
But yea having the proper ergonomics would orobably alleviate pain and prevent injury
yeah i could do that plus get a foot rest
Been having some light joint pain at the base of my thumb for a month now, took breaks to alleviate it. This week the pain has gotten a lot more noticeable, is there anything that I could do to alleviate or fix this?
Here's a picture of the general area
Hi guys, i've recently been having trouble concentrating hard on aim training. It wears me out very quickly and, therefore , destroys motivation. Im talking about not being able to hold attention for more than 5-7 minutes anymore. What should i do?
5-7 minutes is still enough to try and work on a specific part of your aim. Maybe spend 5 minutes working on only speed, or only micro adjustments, take a break, then try again later. Breaking it up over the course of a day or a few hours instead of trying to do one long session might help you
Attention is trainable. Do little things in the day like not picking up your phone every second, going to the toilet without an ipad or phone, basically learning to tolerate boredom.
Then start train your attention with something like meditation. Scientifically shown to work
THanks doc and Walk
hey, for a couple of weeks now I have been getting random twitches/spasms in this part of the elbow. It does not hurt and usually is a single or a few short bursts of it. It happens during aim training and general use of the arm/hand but also randomly throughout the day when I am not actively using the arm. there seems to be no swelling or skin irritation. I do feel like it is connected to thumb movement as it started during a time when I was using an emulator on my phone and would keep it in a tense position for a prolonged period of time.
Its probably occuring due to fatigue
Fixing your posture and being a little more cognizant of how much your playing without adequeate breaks and rest should help
i’m meeting with a sports medicine doctor for that exact thing next week but i would highly recommend you rest it mine got so bad i just got it Xrayed cause i assumed i had broke my wrist skating last week
like i just came back from the insta care they said it was likely a sprain
but then again mine was super swollen last week and so maybe gaming instead of resting it lead to it getting worse
Thank you that makes sense to me
my cause is probably sleeping on my wrist 💀
Wdym? My attention is insane. Its fully on my phone xd
recently been having problems when I play kovaaks and games where I feel some strain on the bottom of my lower arm, I’m not sure exactly why this happens could be anything from me straining or using it to much or my weird arm positioning where my lower arm is on my armrest but my wrist is on my mousepad. Anyone have any ideas?
I’m leaning towards straining because I’m not good at accurately flicking and playing games while my arm is relaxed, especially in game I just can’t seem to relax my arm and still be able to flick properly when it matters
Hey, I have a question. So I’ve been playing for awhile and I noticed that my shoulders especially my right one gets very tight as soon as I start gaming, like as soon as I get off I’m good. I was wondering if it was posture or height or I damaged myself some how or if my muscles got too weak and it’s been bothering me. I tried to use a cushion and sit up right but it didn’t really work out so well. The feeling I get as soon as I remove my arms from desk is like my arm fall downwards. I tried hand exercises and stretch routines and they work ? Idk anymore
I taken like a few days to a week break
And it didn’t really help
Sometimes I feel tingling within my hand if I ever drop my shoulders. Sorry if it wasn’t the right place. Not particularly sure who or where to ask so if anyone could give me some insight on what’s up with me. It’ll be grateful
@limpid crescent
small question is it abnormal for arm to lock up and unable to fully extend after overworking it somewhat like the photo
heyyo im struggling with substance abuse. when i stop using i get panic attacks and immediately relapse. any tips for staying clean?
Any1 have suggestions for an app or exercise routine? Looking for something super light, basics I can do without equipment(situps, pushups, squats, etc), 10-15m a day. Would prefer an app with guided exercises, have ADHD so it's difficult to get things going by myself
My pinky is hurt when I play fingertip grip, I try my best not to tensed my hand but didn't work
should I change my mouse grip to Claw?
when i stretch my fingers out i feel a weird tingling sensation at the tip of my fingers. is this anything bad and how do i stop it?
How does carpal tunnel start ? I hope that doesn’t sound stupid
What is carpal tunnel syndrome? Carpal tunnel syndrome's a type of nerve entrapment disorder where the median nerve that runs through the carpal tunnel becomes compressed, leading to pain in the fingers and thumb. Find more videos at http://osms.it/more.
Hundreds of thousands of current & future clinicians learn by Osmosis. We have unparalleled...
maybe its time to switch for me to switch from fingertip grip to claw or palm, my RSI get agitated so badly when I have long grind sessions or play consistently. Any one have any insight? Ive been playing fingertip for abt 2 years now and Im wondering if its worth swapping or if it gets better eventually or if I should just play through pain
I do wrist stretches and regularly strengthen both my fingers and forearm, but nothing seems to really help it
Hello,
If any of you guys are suffering from RSI or hand/wrist,arm etc related issues:
I strongly recommend reading “the mind-body prescription” by Dr Sarno.
It’s available as a physical copy from Amazon OR audio book on Audible.
I had RSI for 6 weeks, I took a break from gaming, iced my wrists daily and got multiple massage treatments.
None of it helped…
Eventually I was persuaded to read the book from a YouTube video I watched. I was out of options…thinking the pain would never end.
Within 2-3 days from reading the book, 6 weeks of constant pain was gone.
The knowledge in the book should give you all the tools you need to ‘cure’ your pain.
If your interested in googling before you buy the book, Google (or search on YouTube):
Tension myosotis syndrome (TMS) Dr Sarno
I hope you guys find this useful.
im trying out a new grip and i get tingles in all of my fingers after a while. is that still carpal tunnel?
Does it fall under shoulder pain?
A lot of it is in my neck, shoulder and arms
is there anything that can help commitment issues, I want to have a organized schedule and stop being lazy and be better for myself
Well you could write down everything you need to do like necessary ones and do one of them
Then reward yourself for doing
also don’t be too hard on yourself when If you fail or miss a day or sumn
For any things you want to stop doing there’s an app called IAmSober
It’s a tracker you could use
is there any subscription on it?
I don’t believe so
how often does jt remind you
Iirc, it has a morning Pledge at whatever time you set
Then at night
It asks you if you fulfill your pledge
Then over and over
Could even track how you felt on each day
And it reminds you why you’re doing the thing you’re doing
it doesnt let me
its probably when used more, or with the plus version with the subscription
thank you
Npp
started working out 🌟 how often should I be doing each muscle group per week?
Well, I've had tingles like yours before, but it was just my hand getting numb from the position I was holding my mouse in.
One of the symptoms is indeed numbness + weakness in the arm and hand.
I really don't know bro, go see a specialist honestly. I hope it isn't carpal tunnel since it's not pleasant at all.
Tingles -
Identifying your values and character strengths (https://www.viacharacter.org/), designing proper well thought out goals (not abstract shit like I want to be rich), and working on little things in your immediate surrounding; what can I do right NOW that can help me move in a forward direction (do little things like cleaning your room, drink a glass of water, a little exercise, etc. little wins get you a lot of momentum).
twice a week. You can aim for 10 sets per muscle group
thanks for the help either way, i didnt know that it effects your strength so i think i should be fine
i also rock climb frequently so that may not help but idk
ive aim trained for 2 hours a day for the past 2 weeks , also played about 5 valorant games a day . and recently my wrist ( on my pinky side ) has been killing me . i dont want it to stop me from training as much as i do because i enjoy playing and training . how can i treat this properly ???
its like my wrist is almost always tense what can i do to relax my wrist
@hollow current if you could give any advice here that would be greatly appreciated
Yes, neck, shoulder, back…a lot of things
Appears that 20 minutes in on extensive tracking playlists my index finger hurts on the joint
I play claw btw
Any recommendations on what I should do
You can't keep doing what you're doing and expect the pain to magically go away
Pain is your body telling you "Help, there is something wrong, I don't like this"
Ignore it long enough and you go into injury territory
So the answer is always more or less the same.
- Decrease the amount your playing right now significantly. Let the area get some rest. Then ramp back up slowly and methodically (big mistake people do is take a couple days break and then just start again playing 8 hours).
- Do some stretching
- Do exercises to fortify your muscles
- To decrease tension on your arm you can try a couple things
a. Focus your attention on the "what" not on the "how". This means focus externally on the desired result rather than focusing on your arm and how you want it to move. When you put your mind on your arm and fingers it causes them to tense up.
b. Practice proper breathing. Sometimes in higher pressure scenarios people hold their breath or do short breaths. This increases tension. Practice proper breathing to relax.
c. You can do a type of PMR (progressive muscle relaxation) with specific focus on your arms, hands, and fingers. Look it up
thank you
@hollow current Hey Doc, sorry for tagging you. I just want to ask about something you said a while ago. You once told me that focusing on your hand and relaxing your muscles goes against the learning process of aim training. What should I do if i have problems with stiffness in my arm and I want to fix them. How do i focus on relaxation during aim training?
Look at my post above 🙂
Hiya peeps
recently I have been having an awful time in Apex
I can't catch a good game in ranked, and my KD went from a solid 1.7 to 1.5 in like 20+ matches
I've been dying, not getting as many kills, my aim has been sucking, and I just feel awful
It's not even tilt, these past few days I've just been trying to play and rank up to no avail, and then feeling sad bc I'm playing so bad
it feels like I've regressed in progress, honestly
is it just my mental and energy that's fucking me up, or is it something else?
ppl have been telling me that Apex has been in a decline, meaning that my gold I lobbies are seeing higher amts of ppl rn
but like at the same time, i just feel awful
what do y'all think?
Discord is qualifying a picture of my finger as explicit content
But anyways, I cut out a wart on my pinky about 2 weeks ago, it seems fully healed but a little spot remained where the wart used to be. It’s kinda hard to tell if the wart is still there and just hasn’t grown or if it’s scarring from when I cut it out
It is much smaller than what it used to be but I really can’t tell if it’s still there or not
Warts are a fucking pain in the ass
I keep waking up and my eyes feel very tired, my sleep schedule is consistant-ish except for when i work night shifts, and i get between 6-8 hours of sleep usually.
Does anyone else experience this, and if so do u know how to fix this?
if you wake up to an alarm, that's usually normal
or it is in my experience at least
but if i wake up naturally my eyes dont really feel heavy or like i just wanna close them again
Im experiencing excruciating pain in the left side of my neck. When I woke up, I turned my head to the right and ‘pop’, as flash of pain goes through my body. Now it hurts when I turn my neck or move it at all. Do yall think I should see a doctor or should I just chill in bed for a while.
dont usually wake up to an alarm
could it be that i need new glasses or smt
staring too much at screens?
Usually the answer is to up your sleep time. Go for 8-9. That's the actual necessary standard. Also make sure to decrease screen time if you feel your eyes always tired especially at night.
i usually wake up automatically after 6 hours, anything i can do to stop that?
Check out our Sleep section of the Lifestyle Guide in #resources . There's a bunch of tips. Also if you take naps during the day then that may affect.
You might have injured something. If you can't move right now then I would suggest medical attention
Sounds like you had a couple bad games then started a downward mental spiral. The worse your mental the worse you will do and it goes back and forth in a vicious cycle
Any recommendations/routines on stretching your wrist, and when should I be stretching my wrist while playing games?
In the resources channel there is a wrist stretch guid
have anyone tried aim trainer with oxygen supply mask not too much oxygen that's dangerous
maybe it will improve but i dont want to buy Bluetooth oximeter and oxygen cylinder cane
maybe buy only Bluetooth oximeter increases oxygen lvl to 69 with yoga techniques and grind aim
I might’ve done aim labs a bit too long. I have like a burny-soreness that’s like my middle finger knuckle down the top of my hand to my wrist? Is that normal?
I’m not holding it that weird either lol
Any help for mental in game and confidence I tend to tilt really hard sometimes or when I get killed in some stupid ways and want to fix it to be overall better in mental aspect and get higher confidence ?
any tips to improve posture and arm positioning
have been having problems with it recently I assume partially because my arm rest is at a lower angle then my desk and I can’t raise the chair or armrest farther
is it ok to play through tennis elbow? i don't want to stop training but i also don't want to cause any long-term damage
hi guys, ive been practicing on high sens and whenever i move my wrist from side to side (especially if i turn it a lot) I start to get small involuntary contractions in my muscles. Im not tensing or anything and even when i completely relax these contractions still happen. It seriously impacts my aim on high sens ..
@vague frigate
how to sleep well? 😦 I don't use phone, games, before bed, I go to bed same time every night, I use melatonin which works sometimes. But I always either can't fall asleep or if I do, only sleep for a short while and wake-up in middle of night then can't fall back asleep. I get between 4-6 hours of sleep a night, never more, and it's not enough. I have adhd idk if that matters
I’ve had this happen and I found out I was sleeping with my eyes open, use a eye mask for a bit
I do use eye mask already, every night
Is it tight enough?
Thats odd
yea it's snug, but comfortable. No squeezing but doesn't move during sleep, I wake up with it still on my eyes
Do exercise, get sunlight, and eat a balanced diet. Do you have a low mood? Can also be depression. Getting up and not falling asleep is very common in depression and ADHD can lead to higher incidence of other psychological difficulties.
Something needs to give
Long term healthy gaming > immediate term satisfaction and injury
Go into each match and session with a growth mindset. Meaning something you want to work on and improve. Not about winning or losing. You can Win and do horribly and lose and do great.
Make goals based on learning something each time
I do a bit of excercise, can't do much more. Maybe sunlight isn't very good. Diet is good, mood is good(best I've ever been tbh)
Definitely consult with a doctor because 4 hours of sleep is terrible for your brain and body. The short and long term effects of sleep deprivation are serious. Hope it gets better
You can check out in the #resources the Lifestyle Guide I wrote for extra tips
i appreciate the response. i have been grinding what is probably an excessive amount. now that i've hit my short term goal i'll tone it back and focus more on my physical health
Anyone else get wrist pain after 30-45 mins of aim training
I love doing long kovaaks sessions but have to give up after a while because of a weird feeling in my wrist
Maybe just bad posture? idk
I used to have that problem, to overcome it I suggest u to do some stretching before aimtraining or just taking breaks (a 5min break every hour is recommanded, but if you have this pain only after 30min just take a break whenever it hurts and start stretching)
ok^_^
if my sleep schedule is nearly flipped day/ night like sleeping during day, awake during night could that b a big factor in my regression of aim training progress
If you're using one of those keyboard rests... stop. They put pressure on your wrist. Also make sure your hand/arm isn't in too steep upward or downward angle and rather in a neutral position, Also stretching helps.
my vision seems to improve by around 0.25-0.50 (im guessing) when my eyes are not tired. is that normal?
i should also mention i have myopia but dont wear contacts or glasses
My arms hurt i think its beacause i went to the gym should i aim train still?
You will aim worse and practice will not be as effective but theres no negative health reasons. I used to do this a lot
but then i would wake up earlier to aim train so i could play better
anyways
My left wrist started hurting yesterday so i tried to fix my wrist posture and today both wrists started hurting somewhat bad like 2 1/2 hours into playing overwatch what should i do
im taking like a week break right now but should it be longer?
Might buy a wrist brace
how do I fix my sleep schedule ?
Im not a doctor but i also have this problem i have read a lot of texts about this so i hope it helps what you want to do is first know what time do you sleep after that try sleeping 15 or 30 minutes earlier than your normal sleep time every Day for example 22:45 22:30 22:15 and you go lite that till you find the hour that you want
Also feel free to read the sleep guide on #resources
Yeah i guess ill try practicing my aim with my wrist for a bit
That will be hard to apply since 2 am is the new norm but ill try
I don't recommend against using them entirely especially if your using them for non-gaming reasons
But it depends on your setup. I don't have a low profile keyboard so I benefit from one
It really depends on the type. It's better just having like a towel under your wrist if you really need a keyboard support. Most of keyboard rests elevate your wrist, which can cause problems.
idk, i tend to have issues when not using a wrist rest
thankfully having a mechanical keyboard with sensitive actuation remedies part of the problem for me
How can i maintain my good posture? and how do i notice if my posture is not good during gaming?
my goal is to get a posture like Elige
what are good low cal foods? also, what are good low cal protein options?
fruits like bananas or oranges and for protein tuna eggs peas
(i searched this for you)
bananas r kinda high cal as far as fruits go lol
but theyre still fine compared to basically any processed food
berries tend to be very low calorie for a given volume of food
how long does it to take for wrist inflammation to go down
i didnt really look that far into it so yeah i just wanted to give some idea
yeah rly looking to slim down while still getting the right stuff into my system
any tips on not getting mad at games? i use to have so much fun with games, but now i’m constantly SUPER fuckin mad. i have fun wit my friends but every now and then when i’m with them i jus ruin the vibe n get really angry with them, like we’re having fun n slaying out but i take it so serious eventually and we die n i get frrr fr mad. but even when i’m by myself my aim will get me super frustrated n make me want to smack tf out of my desk n shit. i start givin my girl n people around me mad attitude if the situation is still fresh too. i love love love games n i love that i’m above average but it’s so hard to loosen up and actually ENJOY my games now that i’m “good” ish. i’ve tried having breaks months in between. getting mad like this really demotivates me n stops my grind on trying to become the best tracker out there because like today i played for an hour n my aim was horrific n it made me so mad n made me wanna smack tf out my desk so i haven’t played for a solid 10 hours or so
u care too much about it. games dont define you, you should realize that immediately
you’re definitely right. it does however feel like the ONLY thing i enjoy in life, my only hobby, my only passion
you let your competiveness deifine who you are so when things dont go your way you get mad i had this problem also and what i did to solve it was i stopped thinking that my aim training would make me instanly better at any game i touched and i also accepted that i was bad at the games i played and that was fine
this all does make a lot of sense, you’re right! i think like a week ago i played for a day n i didn’t have aiming on my mind at all and i genuinely enjoyed the game. i played a lot better, i didn’t aim better but i definitely played better and it was fun. i didn’t see this whole time that my competitiveness defined me when i don’t get it my way but when i say it out loud it jus makes hella sense
That's a problem. You should have a more consistent source of happiness. It seems you need a change of perspective on life... though I am not suggesting a complete opposite. Many people regard some things in life as normal. I regard them as horrible. Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe not.
mate.. you’re definitely not wrong. i really do need. change on perspective in life, but it’s hard cause i’m never sure where to start, how to do it, or what to change it into, you know?
we can talk about it more if you'd like ^--^
Hello guys, how do you overcome mental fatigue or something like that? Like I can't play a full Kovaaks playlist with my current mental capacity, feels tired after a few tasks. Not to say Apex or VALORANT, one to two games and I quit to desktop. Really wanna know how to focus on games for like at least 2-3 hours per session 😭 Any advice is appreciated!
nevermind just found out I am depressed
Hey guys, after my workout I feel my energy levels are 1000% better but after a couple hours it drops down to it's normal level, my aim my mentality and my focus is on a different league when I'm on that phase, how do I maintain that level of energy throughout the day?
guys my shoulders feel sore after hours of apex legends ranking, I think there could be something wrong about my desk/chair's height causing it
any ideas?
Hey I have a question about eating habits, I feel like after i became vegan for 2 months now, my aim isn't as stressed anymore, before I was getting under pressure way faster. And that was a problem I always had when playing.
Could that have something to do with eating meat, as I saw that it thickens the percentage of fat in your blood and before I actually ate a lot of meat. Or do you think It could be just because I do eat healthier in general?
I'm just interested as I never thought, being and eating healthier would actually have such a big impact, I actually improve way faster atm
Lately I've been hurting my back trying to sit as straight up as possible. Idk how to have good posture now since I thought it was fine
Is there any stretches / exercises for triceps / bicep and shoulders? i feel like i need to do these before and after aim training because today i had the most product / longest aim training session i’ve had in a very long time (about 2.5-3 hours i’d say), and now while playing games / kvks my tricep ish area feels constantly tense and having random muscle spasms n the last time this happened when i did a straight score grind for 3 hours in kvks my arm didn’t feel the same for like 3-4 days, i could aim properly and as good as i did for yeah, a solid 3-4 days
it’s almost like my top half only right arm (elbow up), is like shaking the same way as you would if you were to hold a push-up on the way down. and it’s been like an hour n a bit since i last trained… i would love to finally have some possible solutions to try to fix this problem that i swear has been holding me back for awhile, so please let me know anything that could possibly fix this!!
Sleep on your arm to pool bloodflow on it. Done it a lot for arm wrestling training.
You don't need to full duration it, just long enough to what you can handle
what do you mean by that? like if i wake up during the night i can stop sleeping on my arm or?
does sleeping on ur arm actually increase bloodflow?
id assume it to be the opposite
yeah actually before i sleep on my arm tonight i gotta know haha
don’t want to further mess my arm up. really need a fix for this problem
if u have any resistance bands or light weights you can give some low intensity exercise a go
high reps with easy weight is a rly good way to get extra bloodflow into a joint or muscle
also, @edgy trout , was there any stretches / exercises you performed to help prevent this or help you go longer before you got the same problem as i have?
ahhh okay betttt
now, would i do this before aim training and after aim training before i go into apex?
doesnt really matter tbh
im not really sure how youd mess up your tricep tho
usually with injuries from using a mouse its the elbow joint itself, or shit in the shoulder
uhmmmm i’m not too sure either otherwise i’d be able to find a fix, but it happened after playing e1se easy auto balance strafe scenario for like 2 hours
or an hour n a half straight
but ye try warming ur arm up before you start playing
also i think having breaks is good
and the same scenario for 2 hours is kinda brutal
jus play, restart, play, restart, until i got the score i needed for a pass. i noticed my arm was fucked at the end and it would mostly affect my aim once i got around 14 kills on the target and so my arm would be shaky and a lot of fast random tenses even when i was finished with the scenario and i jus had my arms by my side they were still like that
repetitive stuff is usually not the best for injury prevention
yeah, most definitely. i just didn’t think i would get that score on that scenario unless if i grinded it tbh
like i don’t think in that scen that i could play it for 30 mins, then try again the next day for 30 mins n all of a sudden get the score i needed, you kno what i mean?
yeh but at least take breaks and try something else
You can go for as long as you want with the sleep
even if you put 2 hours in during the same day, youre putting urself in a tough spot if its all at the same time
It's hard to go for all night starting out
But you dont need to
Just whatever feels comfortable
For time
Main part was just the bloodflow pooling in the area to heal it during sleep state
Giving the best recovery for the isolated area
It works. But you may not be able to do it forever or all night. Pressure also helps with the healing of the area for another reason
Able to solve wrist sprains and elbow nags with that
Compared to just normal
okay yeah you’re definitely right. maybe in between queue i should aim train after my initial aim train before apex
sweeett, any specific positions you found best for yourself? 😅
Any position is fine
Back or side
Exercise stuff or stretch stuff, kindof varies.
I dont think you really need specific stretches for arms past a pullup bar hold tbh
But it's preference
Workout, just try to do basics if you havent done much before
But deep end, just going for arm wrestling training is better than normal if you want to target ligaments and joints
Since it is pretty much required for that area otherwise people snap if they have bad ones
I'd still stick with just basic buildups thou for recommendation
Bands are great for joint building
Yeah, that would even affect me, (not to be cocky) but it's hard for my arm or wrist to tire out. Like I gotta be doing consistent 1 frame speed flicks in order to tire out.
That will affect most people, you gotta let your body tell you of danger.
guys, can you give me some tips to avoid tilt? Everytime I lose i feel like a failure and it's very frustrating because I can't even enjoy playing
Try to analyse why you lost and transform the loss into a learning experience
do u guys have any tips to stop procrastinating
get a therapist :D
Just kidding but yuro is right also, don't think you're a failure it will only make you worst.
I'm honestly not sure where to ask this but whats a good desk high if I am 188cm tall, I heard if you are tall generally you need a slightly shorter desk but not sure what to go with
I think thats where u should ask it.
So I went to the doctor for my wrist pain, he told me to put the thing you can see in the picture around it. That helped in the short term, but when I took it off, the pain came back and hasnt subsided since. The main movement that really stings at the side of my wrist (right above the "t" in "Leet" on my mousepad) is moving my wrist towards my thumb. In other words, moving it "up" as seen in the video. (called radial deviation I think)
Does anyone have any idea how to fix that? Getting an MRI image will take a few months at least and the pain is holding me back from exercising and sometimes writing.
Sounds kinda like what I have, carpal tunnel vibes
Just wear the splint to bed for a few weeks and it should get a bit better temporarily at least
There is surgery that I’ll prolly get when I’m a bit older or if it gets worse
But recovery on that takes a while
https://imgur.com/a/FlBRge7 is this correct ergonomics ? i’m having a lot of trouble with this.. i don’t even know how tf do be in a “neutral parallel position” ..
Thanks!
Hi y'all
I need help figuring out the root of my issues, but I feel consistently inconsistent
some matches I will do amazing
and all the rest I do ass
forget basic stuff, do stupid mistakes, etc. etc.
could this be a result of sleep deprivation?
every game in the latter half of my sessions tonight has been awful
been missing shots, and I feel like I'm playing in bronze one
yet I keep queueing up in Apex because I want to get points
Side note: it’s not just that, pretty much any competitive hobby
I want to improve in stuff like Apex and Sim racing, and I enjoy doing well and playing competitively, but it’s frustrating when it feels like my focus wavers in and out and I end up making stupid mistakes
And it’s just been hard to be focused and organized too. If I say I want to do something, it takes a lot of willpower for me to do it, and I end up doing something that gives me the quick dopamine rush (scrolling tiktok)
Is this sleep deprivation or something else?
you might be pushing your peak for too long, and burned out after your prime match
it happens to me when I was tense playing Asphalt 9, doesn't sound like a competitive game but so didn't Minecraft :p dabble competitive and casual
very possible
if you’ve injured your arm from going too hard out in a kovaaks scenario for too long, how long does it usually take to heal? currently i’m on my 3rd day of recovering n it’s still not back to normal. for more insight, i’m laying in my bed with my arms spread out straight to the left and right, my left arm (keyboard arm) feels completely relaxed, light, and like nothing basically. where as my right arm (aiming arm), is… idk how to describe it. maybe tense? heavy? muscle twitches / spams too that are little but hugely impact my tracking aim as it jus skips my aim forward like 1 cm
it’s almost like the sort of heavy, tense, and shaky feeling you get if you were you aim and hover your arm / wrist for quite a bit
I went hard on Kovaaks for about 5 days, started doing routines with therapy putty and over did it and had pain in my wrists an hands for about 3 days. I bought two supplements to help with this turamic, black pepper and ginger, an the second one was magnesium the tension in my tendons and inflammation subsided with continued stretching slower and more controlled and proper use of the therapy putty at a lower density like soft/medium
In my case, I think I was definitely over straining the tendons and muscles in my hands and tensing too much to gain more control over fine motor movements the trick is to apply some pressure but not too much to slowly gain smoother motion in all 3 criteria of aiming, in my own experience, seems to be working a charm.
hmmmmm. im not too sure what you mean by therapy putty tbh! no idea what that is. so basically your problem may be similar to mine and what i have in my whole entire upper arm + shoulder could be over strained and tense tendons, aswell as inflammation? so the way of overcoming this is by patience and wait till it’s fine again, and once i do aim train i should be a lot smoother less tense and shorter sessions?
i don’t have this in my hand necessarily, mainly my upper arm (from elbow up to my shoulders). however i think because of this my wrist too is also experience spasms and twitches
ohhhh that’s what therapy putty is?
makes a lot of sense now agahahaha
If you've got pain in your shoulders, it could be your posture is off. A rule of thumb I use is have your belly button level with your mousemat on the desk, an do not have an arm wrest that restricts movement in your aiming hand, have a mousemat that is deep and wide enough so you have access to full motion
Have your eyes level with your monitor aswell to prevent you from arching over while sitting
i actually do all of this 😄
but currently, my eyes aren’t matching my eyes
because i’m still trying to figure out proper ergonomics, i really don’t know how to understand if my chair is too high or too low!
Yeah, I really like therapy putty! it's deceptive as it can be straining just like any form of repeated motion to stretch out of build strength often physiotherapists will recommend it or something similar for building strength in the hands, or after surgery ect
This is why having your bellybutton level with your mousepad is a good rule of thumb, as at least then you should be getting a better range of motion from your arm to hand an fingers though the only deviation from this I can think of is if your upper body is much longer, than your lower body e.g. you got short legs and a long torso vise versa
having long arms, or short arms you'll have to figure out posturing an angles from your own experience to work out the proper ergonomics here
Though your chair can be a huge factor in causing the strain you have. I have a secret labs titan, I'm still debating taking the right arm rest off so that I can focus mainly on holding my mouse, an having better range in my arm because I subconciously rest my elbow on the arm rest, which in turn makes me use my wrist an fingers more
hmmm… ergonomics is so fkng difficult tbh. i just don’t understand because nothing feels right. i do have my belly button on mouse pad height, but it didn’t feel right. i’ve tried putting my chair all the way down, i’ve tried all the way up, i’ve tried 1/4th’s up, i’ve tried 3/4th’s up
it’s very difficult to know what feels right
It wont feel right to begin with more likely because your having to adjust to something new
how is my arm / wrist supposed to feel when the ergonomics is right? is my arm supposed to feel planted and heavy and stuck or like it’s sinking into my mousepad? or is it supposed to feel very light on the mousepad like as if it’s slightly lifted (but still in contact) if for example i was sitting too low
Are you using lower sens an dpi, or higher sens an dpi because it sounds like your arm aiming a lot more
i’m currently using 28.8cm (800 dpi 1.8 apex sens)
and for a week i used 18.5 cm for a youtube video that i made. but before all this i use to use 43cm i believe (800 dpi 1.2 sens)
Your arm should be in a more natural position so your arm should should be arcing down to the mouse an dependant on your gripstyle an mouse type, I have a tendancy to plant my wrist on the mousemat so I can feel when I am making micro adjustments an flicking
an doing precision tracking ect
this is big help in me trying to find out my ergonomics. “should be arcing down”
!!!!
good to hear, because i didn’t even know what my “neutral” position is
1600dpi and 3.77 sens in overwatch
I used to play at 800 dpi, but since mice can go higher dpi, you can use a edpi calculator to get smoother motion, I move from 800 dpi, but kept the same sensitivity but at more dots per inch
i have to ask, when you’re doing a smooth tracking scenario such as centering 90 no strafe, while tracking and maintaining a consistent mouse + hand speed, does your muscles in either your arm or wrist or even both sort of “twitch” or have a spasms which leads to your aim suddenly jumping forward about a centimetre off target? this is what i get all the time that stops me from having a constant speed when trying to be smooth
yeah this is pretty normal, it's frustrating haha but that's part of the experience of micro adjusting to improve, an trying to do things smoother
one other question, with your ergonomics let’s say you move your mouse from the middle of the pad allll the way to the top, does your forearm slightly lift from the pad, or no?
I subconsciously do this, an it's bad practice
shiiiiit… i didn’t even know that what players do to combat that is micro adjust… thought they just deal with it like me and wait for the bot to catch up 😂
effectively we're holding the mouse wrong, an applying too much pressure
So teaching yourself to adjust your hand position on the mouse is important.
you’re talking about the spasms / twitches or the forearm lifting from moving the mouse up?
also knowing precisely where the sensor is location in relation to the centre of your palm is super useful, as different mice place the sensor slightly further up towards the mouse buttons or slightly further down to the palm wrest of the mouse
hmmm.. and why does that matter? gosh i have a lot to learn
I get both of those issues, but I am conscious that I am doing them so trying to fix them
these are things i don’t hear in any guides or anything
ah okay. if you find a solution, PLEASE let me know
Well with your example of centering 90 no strafe, i do skip instead of smoothly following
because i don’t think it’s specifically me doing it, i feel like it’s jus my body doin it even when i’m completely relaxed d
that's due to needing more practice
Well you need to remember to be mindful of your experience to learn how to improve, if your on auto pilot your not really going to improve on your mistakes and you're going to continue doing those mistakes
really… i don’t get it i don’t understand how just tracking over and over again for months n months can fix muscle spasms and twitching
it’s like even if you learn and improve at a super fast rate you’ll always be held back by the amount of experience you have until that twitching and spasm goes away you know?
yeah for sure. i always make sure when i come to kovaaks it’s not because i’m score grinding, it’s always because i’ve found a fault in my aim and i want to improve on it and make sure that specific area in my aim has higher high moments and higher low moments
Well compare yourself against yourself, an not anybody else. This is something I read when it came to playing guitar, an it translates perfectly when trying to become a virtuoso at anything
So you're looking for a Kovaak guide, you want to be the best Kovaak player possible, and you want the best training scenarios this insane Aim Trainer has to offer. I've made Kovaak progress for over 2 years now, playing all the best Kovaak routines until I progressed into a Grandmaster in Voltaic. 1000 hours? Try 2000+. But now as I sit here, a...
watch the video i am about to DM you. this is me and you can see that more specifically, when aiming to the right i get these twitches spasms and jumps in my tracking aim, it’s very very strong when tracking to the right. it definitely still happens to the left but no where near as much
This is the first video I watched, when started using Kovaaks
i’ll save the video and keep rewatching it when i need extra help 💯 thanks heaps
This was essentially my starting reference point
it recommended me to come here too haha
I find that for whatever skill your trying to improve, you should practice that in Kovaaks as a warm up so about 15 to 30 minutes of that, then hop straight into a game and mindfully practice that technique with the same posturing an positioning you where using to translate it into progress
you might want to slow the bot down, or try it on a easier mode for about a month or until you feel that you're seeing progress then after you feel an improvement play that skillset on a higher difficulty to see if that will reduce the strain, the skipping spasm your speaking about, an it may help shortening the sessions as described for 15 to 30 minutes to not over exert, so you dont cause damage to yourself, an give your muscles, tendons time to heal
yeah definitely correct. basically i do my testing in kovaaks, find what works then when i’m happy with that technique i go in apex and test it for a bit. if it doesn’t work then i go back to kovaaks and try again
unless it’s things like reactivity tracking. i feel like that needs straight up practice in kovaaks
Taking a break from exercises that are causing you pain, can be worth it for example I have skipped kovaaks for a day or two just to reduce strain, an used therapy putty, got my turamic, black pepper and ginger, an took my magnesium supplements
There are studies on these types of supplements, for aches an pains. Magnesium is great for relaxing muscles, which stops you tensing helps build muscles when you have torn them helps repair. An the Turamic, black pepper and ginger helps with joint pain, inflammation which in turn speeds up healing too
i’m gonna look into these then. i think i might have magnesium around here somewhere in my house! i really need my arm to relax while i’m injured. that’s my biggest challenge with aiming these past few days
I bought some cheap magnesium from the super market an it sucked, I got some decent stuff off amazon which works a charm some supplement brands are trashy, something to be mindful of
These are the two that I got
sweet thank you i’ll see how much they cost in australia
I'm in the UK, so you'll more likely have an equivalent brand
I am a big fan of nootropics as-well, there are some real good ones for improving memory, neuro protection an building neurological connection faster which aids in faster improvements too
damn it at home we only have magnesium oxide 🤣🤣
says it’s used for bowel movement.. no fuckin thankkkks😂😂
To be honest, I wouldn't recommend supplements like nootropics to anyone who's not an adult. So bare that in mind, but Magnesium an Turamic wouldn't fall under that category.
why doesn’t everyone use this that’s an adult and aim trains? this would be a literal night and day difference in improvement, wouldn’t it? i feel like with those positives it has, you would learn to translate your aim training in game a lot better
you would know and remember to aim the same way you do in aim trainers, in apex for e.g or ow
it wouldn't necessarily be night and day because all those processes occur naturally and there is such a thing as (undetermined) effect sizes. also scientific support of their efficacy and potential harm/side effects isn't as extensive as with other more common supplements? and there's the legality
Nootropics generally have very little or no side effects, unless you're on specific medications that serve the same purpose that's why they're nootropics.
Like a lot of neuro connections are made while sleeping to aid in learning, there are nootropics that aid in that cycle, which I take which help build those connections as I am over 25 and getting older retirement an peak performance is generally 25 and under.
Makes sense. I might take a break, get some more sleep, and go back to Apex on a day when I don’t play late at night, try to play in like the afternoon instead
So this is technically my setup and all but my question is, is my posture sustainable? Like I'm well aware It's bad for my neck/shoulders because i fee the pain after a few hours of sitting down🤡 suggestions on how i could fix it ?
Nootropics aren't game breakers. Biggest performance booster is basic lifestyle stuff like sleep. Caffeine + L-theanine fall under the umrella term of nootropics so its not like they are some whole new class of miracle stuff
Eating things like blueberries and mushrooms improve cognition, memory, etc
Your arms are too spread out
will cause shoulder discomfort
That's it?
the big one I can see
Hmm
Anything else ? Or is it just that one bit thing
Big*
Any suggestions on how i can position better ( the laptop or keyboard or whatever)
The arms tend to fix when you raise your chair that the elbows are not flaring out like that
Your keyboard is really slanted and far away from you since the laptop is taking so much space. Nothing I can think of to compensate for that
that will also make you flare your arms but I guess until you use a monitor you cant really reposition conveniently
that's unlucky i guess
yep that's the whole thing
Just try to stretch, keep active between matches, and not tense up much. If you can do some exercise it would be even better
I'm pretty sure if it wasn't for taekwondo and my training I'd be screwed lmaao
Thank you for your advice tho❤️❤️
Also i put my keyboard infront of my laptop so closer to my body
Felt better
I'm 35 and skill learning is going fine lol, neuroplasticity occurs all the way into the latest stages of life. I think people confuse less of it occurring with less capacity rather than less need or less cause for it.
Correct. More important is learning how to properly learn efficiently than taking supplementation
Definitely, and the supporting health factors like sleep. It's interesting if supplements can give a little extra edge though. Do you happen to know of any studies on those nootropic effects of edible mushrooms you mentioned? I've been trying to research claims from Paul Stamets and products like mudwtr but haven't been able to find any studies
If I let my forearm flatten out fully on my mousepad I end up subconsciously lifting my shoulder because there's too much friction, should I just get used to playing with my forearm flattened or is it ok to lift my chair up and play without resting the full weight of my arm? Sorry if that's poorly worded, I'll try to rephrase if needed
Would switching to controller would help out with my arm pain?
Whenever I use a controller for a good few days, my arms don’t hurt really and I’m able to play in peace
Using Mnk, my shoulder constantly flex upwards. I really don’t want to leave mnk since I spent so much time practicing and playing but I feel like it’s necessary.
I’m in the same boat too. Nothing I try works, I can’t find that position while my body feels at rest. Even with a cushion to raise my height
My shoulders still go up
consider lowering ur desk/raising ur chairs as much as possible
oh metadoc kinda said that already
but ye the lower ur desk is relative to ur shoulders the more they can relax
but some people have proportionally long upper arms (me) so it only helps so much
make sure ur sitting vertically enough while still being comfortable, and consider trying more relaxed mouse grips
oh ur diff to the guy askin before
but still same advice tbh
its worth a shot
My upper trap kinda hurting
Interesting, would this cause upper trap to hurt less?
It's been hurting like for 1.5 weeks and I havent been using my PC the whole time
maybe, dunno
Damn nvm I read the convo above and notice that I am flaring my arms out even though my table is relatively low
thats a bad posture habit I am going to actively have to fix
Thanks for this advice.
Probably got used to this posture because I spent long hours digital painting. I raise my table high when drawing because I didnt want to look down while painting and hurt my shoulders, but because of my arms flaring out I am still hurting my shoulder
God damn it
Thats so stupid
so after tracking for a while in kovaaks i realize my index finger starts getting numb. i play at 20cm, palm grip on deathadder v2 pro. does anyone have any advice for people that don't want their fingers going numb? binding space bar to fire and taking breaks are gonna be last resort options. thanks!
My left eyelid is like lazy/heavy I guess and it just happens randomly.
Im sleeping more than enough and have tried using eye drops to no avail, it just started happening now like a few weeks into aim training and it's definitely not increase time looking at a monitor I can tell you that probably more that Im focusing too but was wondering if there's a solution to this issue w/o sacrificing focus.
When it happens:
It's random usually during or after aim training havent it, haven't had it before yet... but sometimes it'd like a few hours after aim training and Im just looking at a monitor and it happens. It's definitely not an increase in me looking at a monitor I can say that much.
I asked this in #advice but I figured this is a more fitting area.
I've never had this happen to my fingers, mainly just my arm when I had improper posture.
But, is your posture correct as well as possible?
what guy above said, are you putting too much pressure on your mouse like are you gripping it too hard
ive been focusing on making sure my pressure on the mouse is as light as i can without letting go of my fire key. and still experience the numb feeling in my index finger. I remember at one point this numb feeling was never as bad as it was now.
Every 3-4 hours of the game, I get muscle pain at the level of exercise in the triceps brachii. What's the problem?
no clue but maybe take a break every hour?
10 minutes is a safe amount
hey whenever I play kovaaks for 10+ mins i get bad eye strain
anyone know any ways to fix that?
blink more
keep eyes closed whole time
but you cant blink while ur eyes are closed
silly
is that like a different monitor?
i think it can be
but turning nightlight on can fix it
its in sys settings on windows
nightlight for all the time?
maybe while practicing
okay
just test it out and see if it does anything noticeable
okay tysm
ill try it out in a bit
only kovaaks
i can play any other games for legit the whole day and no pain
okay
yeah it is really weird
i think its because i focus more
hmm i havent
alr
weird question but I'm a pale guy with type 1 skin so like only burn can't tan and my question is what should I do to get the benefits of the sun without getting wrinkles and shit
from my understanding uvb is what's needed for vitamin d but also can burn your skin and uva is just damaging skin and also uvb can't pass through windows but uva can so like there is no benefit to leaving my window open right
I'm just worried because I'm probably not getting enough vitamin d because I'm always with sunscreen as part of my skincare routine
supplement with vitamin d and eat it with fatty foods for proper absorption, unless u live in a place with sun all year around you need to supplement vitamin d
basically impossible to get enough from food
my current routine is 5x10 pushups, 3x10 pullup (progression, currently doing australian pullups and deadhangs), 5x20 squats, and jump rope for cardio
is that enough for general health?
i'm not necessarily looking to build muscle or anything like that
if there are any things i can change up or supplement let me know
i do this every other day with a rest day between each day and rest on weekends as well
yeah where I live it's pretty sunny
but like how do I safely get vitamin d without damaging my skin
tysm
check his other videos if you have spare time
really good podcast
and it's not like dude is some quack
he's a prof at stanford so I'd say it's pretty credible
i just told you
supplements
what type of hand of hand exercises should do for pain in the side of my hand
near my pinky finger knuckle
Not a chore considering stretching increases muscle growth, stops injuries, and lets you have a better workout in general
Just cuz cleaning makes ur house look better doesn't mean its not a chore
Vitamin D supplements, they come in either pressed pills or gel capsules in most cases
2000-4000 IU should be good enough (IU information is usually on the label of the product)
You'll most likely want to take Vitamin C as well at the same time because they have complementary effects
Do not drink coffee 1 hour before/after taking Vitamin D, else it will not absorb well into your body
Anyone link a good video for stretching my elbow because i have alot of pain and strain in my elbow
For some reason I always subconsciously shrug up my shoulder which lifts up my elbow and top of my forearm whenever I'm aiming, and I don't know why. It's not desk height because I even do it when the desk is too low. Any ideas why the cause might be?
This is my theory but i might be wrong you got used to a desk that was the wrong height and now you are used to lifting your shoulder, i think the same thing is happening to me but i would like for someone else to gjve their thoughts on this
@tacit tartan
That could be why, when I first got a PC I had a bad chair that was way too low, so I definitely could've just gotten used to it
get 20 lbs of brown rice and put it in a 5 gallon bucket, open and close and move your hands/wrists around in the rice
brown rice is better than white for this because it has less starch which will dry ur hands out, i learned the hard way
Caffeine usage - aim improvement
I'm vegan can I have health role
i started angling my body so more of my right (mouse) arm is on table, but left tricep been hurting since it kinda hovers - anyone relate
It is not clear how caffeine usage may affect aim improvement. While caffeine is a stimulant and can improve alertness and focus, there is no evidence to suggest that it specifically improves aim or hand-eye coordination. It is best to experiment with caffeine in moderation and see how it affects your individual performance.
I don't take caffeine cuz I'm scared it will trigger my anxiety
In general, caffeine can trigger anxiety in some people, particularly in those who are sensitive to its effects or who consume high amounts of caffeine.
My girlfriend had that issue, a tiny bit of caffeine would trigger anxiety and last quite long. She has a strong case of OCD which makes her overall very anxious - even an insomniac as a result.
After a while of drinking small doses, she got accustomed to it though, now she takes it 5x a week for working out and the effects are mainly positive.
Not sure how this might apply to your situation but that’s a little case story.
Do you wear glasses? It's possible that you have un-treated eyesight issues so your eyes have to compensate harder to see clearer, thus the strain. There could be other reasons as well but I think this is one to consider.
nearly died my life flashed before my eyes hundreds of hours sat at point blank range to a monitor watching an orb move around erratically hitting fat vape rips. It was beautiful
What should be my target weight if I wanna gain muscle if I’m 6’2
Anything between 170 and 180 I guess ? Since I'm 6'0 and according to the tests I took my target weight is 165
I'm just guessing tho
There are a few things you can do that don't involve using skincare products to help with dry skin. Here are a few ideas:
Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated. This will help keep your skin moisturized from the inside out.
Avoid taking long, hot showers or baths, as this can strip your skin of its natural oils. Instead, try using lukewarm water and limit your shower time.
Use a humidifier in your home, especially in the winter when the air is dry. This will add moisture to the air and help keep your skin hydrated.
Avoid using harsh, drying soaps, and choose products that are gentle and moisturizing.
Protect your skin from the elements by covering up when you go outside, especially in cold or windy weather.
It's difficult to give a specific target weight for gaining muscle without knowing more about your current weight, body composition, and overall health. but it's important to focus on your body composition and how you feel rather than just the number on the scale.
what about like diet what foods should i avoid and what foods to eat
There are a few foods that you may want to avoid if you have dry skin, as they can contribute to dehydration and exacerbate dryness. Here are a few examples:
Alcohol: Alcohol is a diuretic, which means it can cause your body to lose more water than it takes in. This can lead to dehydration, which can make dry skin worse.
Caffeine: Like alcohol, caffeine is a diuretic and can contribute to dehydration. Try to limit your intake of caffeine-containing beverages, such as coffee and soda, if you have dry skin.
Processed and refined foods: Processed and refined foods are often low in nutrients and can be high in sugar, salt, and unhealthy fats. These can cause inflammation and contribute to dry skin.
---Some foods that may be particularly helpful for maintaining healthy skin include:
Fruits and vegetables: Fruits and vegetables are a great source of vitamins and minerals that can help keep your skin healthy. Some good options to consider include berries, citrus fruits, leafy greens, and tomatoes.
Oily fish: Oily fish, such as salmon and mackerel, are rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which can help keep your skin moisturized and prevent dryness.
Nuts and seeds: Nuts and seeds are a good source of essential fatty acids, which can help keep your skin moisturized and supple. Some good options to try include almonds, walnuts, and flaxseeds.
Avocados: Avocados are a good source of healthy fats that can help keep your skin moisturized and healthy.
Overall, the best way to keep your skin healthy is to eat a balanced diet, stay hydrated, and avoid harsh skincare products that can strip your skin of its natural oils.
Recently I have been experiencing strain on my pinky finger after a good period of gaming. How should I approach this? should I do some stretches and adopt a lighter grip on the mouse
If you are experiencing strain in your pinky finger after gaming, it is likely due to overuse or improper technique. To alleviate the strain, you can try doing some stretches to loosen up the muscles in your hand and fingers. You can also try adopting a lighter grip on your mouse to reduce the amount of force you are using. Additionally, it may be helpful to take regular breaks during your gaming sessions to give your hand and fingers a chance to rest and recover. If the strain persists or becomes severe, it is a good idea to see a doctor or other healthcare provider for further evaluation and treatment.
hello guys i have a question about my pinky finger (mouse hand) when i play alot after alot of hours it starts to hurt more and more and i have to take a big brake for it to recover and lets say im in a faceit game i just know i will lose it because i just cant move normally. Any ideea what this is and how can i fix it? btw i don t think its carpel tunnel just because the carpel tunnel from what i know is on the left side of the right hand(mouse hand) ps:Sorry if i was confusing i dont know how to express that good in english
i have to mention i have a combination in between a palm grip and fingertip grip and im not an arm or wrist gamer i just do both because my sens is 1.38 400 dpi ( on csgo)
Any tips on how to stop being a sore loser? I stop having fun so fast when I'm not hitting my shots or losing the whole game, and being a pretty bad player doesn't help with that
Depends, someone is gonna look from same angle as you do, someone wont care and someone will take as a sign to get your shit straight and work on it
Do people that are nearsighted, but have astigmatism use glasses when the aimtrain aswell?
If you use glasses in your game of choice, and in your every day life, then I would assume so.
So when I grip my mouse should i have my wrist in contact with the desk or in the air for injury prevention ?
Well I only use them with driving, cause I only struggle with long range. But ete doctor said I could struggle with movement in shorter distance cause of the astigmatism. I tried a bit of both, can't figure out whats best. Jist gonna keep trying a bit haha
Thanks for input!
I started mediating everyday and it helped significantly. I’ve gotten a lot closer to adapting the growth mindset. I used to be just like that because I had really bad anger issues
Whats the most optimal way to sit? Entire arm on desk or elbow off the desk?
I'vr always been sitting like the top picture, but every one I see play has some elbow in the air... 🤔
@vast fractal Preference, I do this
Ye, I tried to play with a bot of elbow of the desk today, it felt nice in the end, gonna give it a shit tomorrow too.
not exactly health but i always play games and my hands just get really cold
how do i fix this
Guys, this is really important for me: I get too much involved when I play to the point that i either go on depression or I want to smash everything everytime I play bad or I lose a game (I feel like I'm worthless or that I can't improve at all despite all the time spent). Do you think a psychologist could help me with this or is something he can't? I really like playing videogames but this thing is ruining my experience to the point i usually avoid playing games although I would really want to
Bad angle
Yes. Usually your reaction to something like a video game is a reflection of other problems you might have IRL. Great that you noticed this and are making an effort to bring it forward which is better than most people
Does anyone know of a wrist brace which would lock my wrist, but allow for comfortable use of fingertip grip? I have a generic brace, but it covers my palm which makes it impossible to use a mouse with. I would prefer something lightweight that would prevent my wrist from moving as much as possible
@hollow current thanks. Today i spoke with my psychologist and he told me that we can work on that. Finally I'll stop to be scared of playing ❤️
my hands and feet are cold most of the time, my arms and legs are long so its harder for them to get circulation, what helps me is cardio (biking, running, etc.) to increase ciculation
cold showers can help too, they force your body to heat itself up
running your hands under water, and switching it from hot to cold periodically can help too, i live in a cold area so the water is quite cold but if you're in a warmer area the cold water may not be that cold
if ur not getting any discomfort ur probably fine, but try lowering ur desk or raising ur chair and see if anything feels better
flared arms can be kinda meh for the shoulder after a while, but its different for everyone
do protein powder stuff help alot with building muscle?
it's just a convenient form to achieve adequate protein consumption
protein powder isnt special in itself vs any other quality protein source
if you struggle to eat enough protein, it's a really useful tool
ok ty
training with suicidal thoughts doesn't make me better. I don't know what to do to make my aim better with this damn depression. I'm losing hope
Therapists doesnt seen to work
what should I do?
Same here
I might start doing that whenever my hand turns 0°
i would lay off aim training completely if you are dealing with suicidal thoughts and depression, if you havent already i would get bloodwork done to see any potential deficiencies, thyroid issues, low testosterone if male and so on
as hard as it might be good diet + exercise on top
but you shouldnt worry about aim training before you take care of yourself
for therapy i have no advice
Thanks for the reply. I am actually doing exercices in gym and eating just the necessary. Hope this will get better. I am just afraid of losing aiming skills since I train everyday.
you dont really lose that much even if you take longer breaks
with proper training you can get back to it very fast, health is more important than aim gains
Yeah you are right. Thanks for the reply
Anyone have advice for wrist pain. been aim training again for a week and now im experiencing wrist pain when using pencils and doing stuff with my hand
As a gamer and someone who works in a high stress job thats recks my wrist i would say try useing gel pad supports wile not active useing ur hands then remove for game play. Mostly ripping of muscle and untill ur wrist get use to it will hurt till ur use to it any longer then two weeks maybe wourth seeing a doc for stress faction or hair line
Any difference between monitor distance? I used to have my monitor pretty close to me, but now I have it further away, because I'm nearsighted and I don't want to make it worse. Will a closer monitor make my nearsightedness worse?
The mith of how my parents said dont sit to close to the tv u go blind lol think about VR headsets if this was ture thos things would not sell haha but maybe change ur glass or hve ur eyes checked again. End of the day as u get older ur eyes will get worse cant help ageing
Also be down to ur screen type and desplay type go cheap go costly plp tend to find difference in each
it could
i think
it could make them lazier, and u need to train your eyes
how to choose his hand to like I left basic but like the right because habit is what I have to change or what to do to choose?
Hello am wondering can a bad (really bad sleep schedule) (3-6h a day since months) inpact drastically my improvement speed or not let me improve at all ? The only times I slept 8-9h one day my aim felt insane the next day that why am asking that cuz daily I feel like I put in the Practice but dont sleep enough and wonder if it could be a reason and maybe if I fixed that my practice would Pay faster.
Also any tips on how to fix a sleep schedule pls
Well ive lived off 4-5 hrs a nights sleep for anout 10 years now as long as ur eating well and exercising i dont see why it would ovely affect u. Alot of plp have diff ways of helping them sleep each to there own as it effect people in diff ways. For me i try have 30 mins of no screen time befor bed to let my eyes rest
Good sleep is really really important for anything you want learn, because that's where the actual learning and improvement happens, you don't instantly improve after training you only improve while sleeping because that's when your brain gets to sort out all the information, throw useless stuff away and strengthen the connection to stuff you want to improve at.
Only a few days into training my aim through kovaaks and voltaic and my mouse wrist is starting to hurt... How should I be tackling this problem lol
If you deathgrip your mouse, stop doing that and learn to hold it looser without tensing up your arm/wrist
Wrist/Arm stretches before/after every session
General strength training to improve endurance
If you have a previous injury, consult your doc
sounds like a postural issue check your keyboard placement and make sure your arm is supported but not your shoulder isn't shrugged
how long should it take me to get used to a more relaxed aiming style. i recently had a wrist injury and took a break and after coming back i noticed i would get a slight pain when flicking because i would over tense my wrist. i have been trying to play more relaxed for the last day or so and havent really had any pain or discomfort but my scores, speed, and accuracy are really down. i know this is something that will be worth it in the long run but i wanted to know if anyone has had a similar experience and how long it will take to get back to the level i was at before?
Very likely a posture thing/certain muscles being weak. I'm sure exercise & some stretches could help. I'm no PT (or qualified to give advice) but have worked with some for little while and find that's a trend maybe check this video out and give it a try? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A-MZOdHH3Nc if you want to talk to a professional https://1-hp.org/ are legit and work with a lot of gamers (I've worked with 1hp on some bad neck issues/forearm issue before & also worked with local drs/PTs etc found 1hp the most useful) to give you options if your pain persists
Expected due to drastically changing the technique you're using with the mouse, it can take quite a while to get used to using a more loose grip style, but it's well-worth it for the health benefits, how long will depend on far too many factors, but I'd set expectations that it might take a while
I'm having a problem about my eyes, it's so cloudy and Strabismus could happens any time, is there anyways to fix?
So in the lifestyle guide says is cool to have a 30 min nap during the day, do you guys set up an alarm or something ? Because if I fall sleep after mid day I would just pass out for 3 hours
Naps work for some people and don't for other's, you don't even necessarily need to "sleep" you can just lay down for like 30 minutes and try to think about nothing which can help with mental energy restoration
You can definitely try it with an alarm, but many people I know will just shut the alarm off and continue snoozing, or sometimes the alarm can be very mistimed if you do end up falling asleep and you might wake up a bit groggy
The golden rule is: Fuck around and find out
what if you can't wake up in the morning not even to alarms? I feel fine, never tired or sleepy throughout the day, work out every day, even take vitamins and minerals to support sleep quality, fall asleep fine, have lots of really deep dreams, but just seem to need like 10 hours of sleep and will sleep straight through alarms until 10am so I can't possibly function in society lol
tip - turn on vibration on your phone, stick it under your pillow with an alarm set. try and see what happens, place the phone just about where your head is underneath
Question: is it possible that ADHD can negatively impact your performance ingame?
I've been reading tons of articles that all say that ADHD positively impacts people when playing games, but I feel like it's been the complete opposite for me.
Personally (I have ADHD and Autism), it can get the better of me sometimes, I play Valorant and I sometimes zone out hard and just get bored and look for fights bc my brain needs things, or I zone out and just afk in place when watching an angle. Doesn't mean you can't beat it, I've managed to get to immortal now, and I still get those sometimes, but I've learnt to manage it, even if it means playing around it
I haven't stuck it under my pillow I bet that would just dampen it a lot, vibration or sounds or wake up lights nothing works I will hear the noise in my dream constantly and try to turn it off there lol but stay asleep
SHOCK COLLAR
Do you guys think my grip is affecting my wrist health ? I'm getting a New mouse + mousepad in a few days so I don't wanna keep fcking up my shit, I felt nerve tingling for the first time yesterday and I'm nervous it could be my grip affecting it, first time it happens
Where did you feel it? Perhaps it's not your grip, instead your posture.
wrist is just like a little tingle and it goes all the way to the ring finger
you mention posture, im following pretty much everything from the posture guide buttttt my desk is a little too high and there is nothing i can do about it since my chair can only go so high
besides that i dont see any other issues
So you're sure that your shoulder isn't scrunched?
it is a lil bit
shit maybe thats the issue
time to get something to lift me up
I had that issue, it would cause that same spot to feel numb; asleep, and also cause my left arm to do the same. But it caused pain in my I think right shoulder blade (I'm not knowledgeable in muscles, bones and other bodily structures that make up out body.)
Anyone in here ever had gamers thumb or whatever that is
idk if I should do thumb excersies or rest, it doesnt hurt or anything it just feels a bit sore especially when I stretch it and feel fatigue around the thumb when I move my wrist left and right (especially left)
?? Could you send a photo, or report on it?
remember-> good form
has anyone here dealt with armpit pain(area between the shoulder and pecs) or know what can be causing it?
My wrist hurts right at the top of the joint, any suggestions?
if ur wrist hurts its probably due to wrist mobility then strength. try to do wrist mobility exercise or do rice bucket method
Thanks! Where can I find those?
For anyone who uses their hands a lot, from rock climbers to people sitting at a computer all day, injuries like carpal tunnel and elbow tendinitis tend to pop up seemingly out of nowhere.
That’s because the mechanisms of these injuries seem like no big deal when done in isolation. For example, no one has ever typed a sentence in a keyboard an...
You could try an alarm made for deaf people, I kinda have the same issue you've described, and although getting used to the stressful way of waking up of it at first, it did always manage to get me awake
hmm I'll look into that, didn't know that existed thanks. thing is also that I need this amount of sleep though, getting less quickly becomes very bad for my mental health
Yeah, I think it'll be able to help you, you might have to readjust your sleep schedule to be able to get those 10 hours while waking up at 8, but once you get into the schedule you'll be fine ^^
Should your fingers hurt if you tense a lot?
I have a ergo grip that's why i'm asking
tilited grip*
If you tense a lot, then it's normal. Tension is the force applied onto your mouse, i.e if you are squeezing something, like a empty soda can; you are applying tension, or pressure to it, causing it to cave in.
But it's recommended to tense as little as needed.
Is it bad waking up inbetween à sleep schedule (like if I sleep 7h and wake up after 4 then sleep again and wake up again after 2h etcc)
update: I bought some KT tape and applied it on my thumb it feels way better idk how to explain..you know when theres something wrong but you just dont know what it is I was having this weakness in my arm for about a year and I just couldnt tell where it was coming from I just knew it affected my right forearm/hand and exercise wasnt working
Thumb before & after
Does my diabete have an impact on my performance, if i manage to get rid of it, would it change something?
exercise not helping? what did you do
afaik this is quite normal actually and doesn't have to be detrimental for anything. though you're missing an hour in that sum, you still need to get however many hours you need.
Really the only difference I notice is before your thumb is curved and after it is flat.
If your levels are irregular then I think it would, but if just drink plenty of water and have healthy levels, then it shouldn't be a issue.
Yea but what I feel is on the inside
So I can fully flex my thumb with no pain
True, I do not know what you feel, even if you would explain it, I couldn't grasp it unless I experience it.
But I can feel the tendons inside moving* lets say if I move it a lot it will start itching a bit on the inside and my vein will pop out but thats about it
Any ways to recover from a cold faster?
well, resting is the obvious thing. personally, I drink a healthy amount of water, more so than usual, and try to cut out anything like soda.
Try to let your strength build backup and so on. But don't overexert yourself.
Try to keep yourself eating.
I dont think there is any special trick to recovering faster, I know everyone is different
Alright, thank you for the tips!
happy to help. hope you feel better and can get back on the grind
Thanks, but I'm probably not going back on the grind. I'm feeling burnt out even though it's been a few months since I last played, but I'm thinking about it.
Do whatever feels right for you. If you are burnt out you'll only suffer through the grind lol. take some more time off. if you're like me, you'll eventually end up coming back on your own
I feel a little sore in my around my elbow after playing for longer sessions.. Am I safe if I stop playing when it starts to feel sore? Also considering implementing 15 min breaks in my sessions regularly but would that help?
I am guessing tennis/golfers elbow :/
lots of wrist pain. Dont know if is my posture
i also think i'm putting too much force on the mouse
hello I am left in life every day but I started to play mouse left hand is what I have to change or there is a test to know which hand I am the best?
ok so when im doing incline push why i feel more to my bicep, tricep rather than chest
This is pretty common with pushing exercises since you do use your arms (obviously) when pushing as well. Its likely that your form is off and your biceps are activating more than your chest. Try to avoid flaring your elbows more than 45 or 50 degrees and think about trying to push the floor closer together rather than just away from you. You might find it easier to do that if you use a chair or countertop rather than a floor or wall, but that motion of bringing the arm across the body is what the chest is primarily used for so mentally visualizing that motion will help with activating it.
Anyone have tips on dealing with or getting past insomnia?
I’ve noticed that very lately I’ve been having very massive issues falling and staying asleep, and then later not wanting to wake up
I feel extremely lethargic throughout most of the day, except the end of the night when I usually get the most random burst of energy
Usually I drink a cup of coffee with milk in the morning, and nothing but several cups of water after that, all with a very balanced diet
What's up guys! My name is Niimo. I've been playing at an Edpi of 14400 in apex. I play at this sensitivity because I've been getting a pain in my wrist when practicing at a low sense. since I raised it, I have not felt any pain what so ever! Just wondering if anyone else plays at this high sensitivity and has any tips! thank you!
I can't fall asleep I get much pain all the time and I feel tired
How to make myself stop waking up inbetween sleep I always wake up naturaly at 9-11 am even tho I can be tired or only had 3-5h of sleep ? How to stop this natural habit
Check out the Lifestyle Guide I wrote in the #resources
Insomnia can be the result of MANY things so I think that starting with the basics in the guide would be super helpful if not by simply making your insomnia disappear or at least ruling out lifestyle factors and leading us to another answer

Check the Sleep section for tips
If it doesn't get better feel free to ping me
Seems like you are going to sleep very late which will affect your sleep quality even if you get 8hours plus. Please refer to the Sleep section in the guide above
Thank you!!! I’ll check it out in a bit :D
I rly appreciate it!
Anyone have some advice on how to build a bigger chest with calisthenics
any arm stretches i can do for when my arm is fatigued when im taking a break inbetween scenarios?
pushups and their variations
dips too
and if you're already strong enough with those, consider ring pushups and ring flys
Check pinned resources
I ve read it rn ans yea u r right I sleep super late but the biggest problem is that it became à habit and idk how to break it I tried sleepless nights to feel tired and sleep early, worked but woke up late this time, I can Try to force myself sleeping early but will be hard since it will be a 4h minimum difference.
Also is waking up inbetween sleep is bad for its natural regenération schedul? Cuz when it happens I tend to sleep more (30min to 1h)
Baby steps. Try to forward your sleep schedule an hour at a time.
Exercise, get sunlight, tire yourself out during the day and if necessary take a melatonin. Biggest thing for us gamers is not being glued to screens late at night
If say you are sleeping at 2am, then adhere to the tips in the guide and plan to fall asleep at 12 or 1.
Then move to 12, then to 11, etc
Dont do sleepless night. That is very bad
Ama do that rn and this part is True I m always glued to my screen before bed, used to read a lot but was with phone I may just Meditate like 15min b4 bed to start reducing screen time
Anyways thank you for the help on those point also about the waking up inbetween sleep part does it break the sleeping process that much for me keeping the add for 30min-1more sleep more ? Or is it just normal
Look at the sleep improvement list in the guide and see which ones you can adopt. Slowly but surely your sleep will get fixed
It can be pretty normal
But it always depends. It can be due to drinking too much liquid and needing to pee, or can be anxiety, or simply normal
For me its always between 9-11am (I was thinking it can be bc its my usual wake up time since I go to uni and am now in holidays my natural clock makes me wakeup those time even if am tired still?)
If its that I m gonna have to adapt my schedule to those time, what do u think?
There is some science to back up the fact that falling asleep before 11pm is ideal. Also most people require more sleep time than they think (9 hours)
So I would first focus on moving your sleep schedule forward to 11 and seeing when you naturally wake up
For ex. I go to sleep at 9pm and wake up at 6am (9 hours)
Whenever I go to bed past 11 I feel bad the next day and this is coming from someone who used to game until 4 am sometimes
Yea I m feeling always bad rn I recently sleep at like 4-5am and cant before cuz I got used to it à try to sleep at 3am today and move it slowly to 11pm
Also do you think sleep can be accumulated if lets say I sleep for 10-11h like earlier than my normal time by 1h? Or it doesnt accumulate the energy from it
Not sure i understood but you accumulate sleep debt
So if you dont sleep enough hours it will pile up and you might sleep a lot one day
But the inverse isnt really true
You cant sleep 12 hours and expect 3 hours worth of “extra” energy
This happens a lot when people sleep maybe 6-7 hours in weekdays then come sayurday they sleep 12+ hours
So basically its not extra energy but its just regain of the sleep we're lacking if we sleep extra after we had slept for a bad healthy sleep time for a long time
Hi, what can I do for wrist pain? My wrist is getting lots of pain. I dont know if is overtraining or excessive training
Check your posture and ergonomics
Take a break for 2 days, then slowly build up your practice
That means NOT taking an extended break and just restarting the same amount of play
If you were playing 4 hours a day, start with one hour and climb back up
All the while doing proper stretches and strenghtening exercises
The pinned messages hasngood resources
thanks for the answer doc. I'll keep that in mind
Hello I've the same problem that @cerulean terrace has but i literally stopped playing for a whole month but my hand/wrist still hurts only while aim training especially while playing voltaic gold fundamental aim routine, the pain goes away after stopping for some mins but it comes back again when i train especially in tasks that require a lot of moving like smooth tracking tasks, Is that ok? I don't have a problem with continuing with it but idk if it's normal or n
12 isn't necessarily a bad time to go to sleep right? like if you're genetically more of a night owl type you wouldn't have to move heaven and earth to go in earlier?
Pain is never normal
Read up my recommendations. Stopping for a month and suddenly going back to the same intensity will result in the same problem
There is a big misconception with “night owls”
Most people go to sleep naturally at earlier times. Think about it. Humans evolved to stop activity and sleep when night ensued (there were no lights back then)
Like when i play aim lab for a big amount of time without stopping like rn I expect pain to be normal at such cases
Now since we have artificial light and cultural norms of “hanging out late” then we push our circadian rhythm back and call it normal
Odds are that if you had no access to either of those things you would go to sleep much earlier
Pain is your body giving you warning signals. Ignoring it will cause permanent damage
If I play then when I feel that pain I stop for some mins and then come back again and stop whenever I feel the pain will that cause damage as well?
Its a stepin the right direction but pain overall is a bad sign
Alright, Thank you
Try this. Play with a timer and see how long it takes for the pain to start
Do it a couple times
Then after that decrease the time you play by say 20%
So if you played 1 hour then moving forward play for 45 mins
Mix in some strengthening exercises for your hands, wrist and arm
And see if that improves and you can slowly push to higher play time
Most importantly check your ergonomics
I'll try that, Thank you so much
If pain still ensues do a full reset. Take 2 days off, then start at 20% of your limit (15 mins in the 1 hr example) and each day play a little more
Alright, But I forgot to ask u about the wrist, hand exercises u mentioned, Is there a specific exercise for this or I just type Hand/wrist exercises on the internet and do it?
well I think this would depend on latitude and time of year, and there would still have to have been guards and watchers against nighttime predators (like lions even in europe) or maybe even hunts at night so gender roles. I thought the type was somewhat confirmed by genetics studies looking at performance when trying to change circadian rythms. but you mentioned something about sleep quality earlier, maybe that is affected regardless?
I can see tribal "warriors/hunters" making up for lost sleep with naps later in the day but we no longer have that luxury
this explains why i go to sleep at 5am every night
🫡
im just a village guardian
a threat to the lions of the night
Lovely argument. So it seems that in tribes and communities that are not "modernized" this does sort of show up. People have biphasic sleep schedules where they go to sleep early, wake up around midnight for an hour or two and go back to sleep
Still most dont seem to advocate for simply going to sleep super late
would this mean perhaps any monophasic sleep pattern is already unnatural/suboptimal? still seems generalized to me and doesn't deal with possible exceptions/outliers that would be a minority rather than any norm. like it states that we have 16 hour days but that's clearly oversimplified. no mention of chronotyping at all for which plenty of research supporting performance and personality differences can be found.
So I am currently dealing with some Ulnar Nerve Irritation at my elbow, would a higher sensitivity help alleviate this or will a lower sens be more beneficial from a body mechanics perspective
This is the most civilized discussion that I have ever seen on discord
why would people be angry about sleep cycles :P
There are a lot of people on discord that seem to be willing to die on any hill regardless of how insignificant
Apart from the aim training, do some kind of training to improve reflex and reaction times?
Facts.
Like anything there are variations and if we look at the reasoning behind many of these polyphasic cycles its purely due to survival necessity. Monophasic or atleast the biphasic which includes an afternoon nap are probably the most ideal imo
Regardless, I’m very positive that the quantity of “night owls” is completely skewed to the reasons stated before.
Interesting question. I’d say its less so the sensitivity than it is the overall load being out. Decreasing game time would be the most beneficial. But if I had to pick I think it would depend on the game being played and if you use arm or wrist to aim
Whichever combination minimizes brisk and forceful movements
so I have a ganglion cyst in my wrist which i noticed about 2 weeks ago but i havent felt any pain from it, but from yesterday i started getting pain underneath my forearm that runs all the way from almost my elbow to my palm and im wondering if its connected to the cyst or maybe something seperate (left arm/keyboard hand)
Was just interested as aside from out of game time it seems that lower puts more pressure on it due to larger pivot movement needed to move the mouse compared to a higher sens. I would assume due to the nerve being stretched or pulled under the full contraction. From that I would guess that higher sens would be better in the sense that less large movements would be beneficial (please correct me if I am wrong)
Yea thats what I was thinking
Unlikely if you don't have joint pain near it
any nerve signs like tingling, numbness or weakness?
i get like a quick sharp pain if i put pressure on the underside of my forearm, wrist or lower area of palm
and an occasional pulsing pain at random times
Well it could be. Easy enough to check and remove at a doctor
yea i was gonna get it removed most likely either way but i have to wait a few days because of covid
I have a question, i've been doing meditation a lot and daily (mostly focusing on breath or something precise) and now i came to a point where i m always in the present and start having hard time with visualisation or imagination like am always focused on what i do even tho sometimes i wanna try to imagine or like just visualise (in my opinion its bcs of meditation cuz b4 that it never happened to me) when i say i feel like its harder to imagine or visualise its mostly like it feels like am not focusing anymore on my breathing and the things i imagine come slower and when i try visualising now (i try to implement the feelings of my senses when i visualise) it feels just so hard to focus on all of them a time and combining to that my sleep schedule that am trying to fix it becomes so hard to just visualise something properly like i can still imagine but it feels really weird now when am not focused on my breathing have u got some tips to like maybe loose focus or just be able to visualise mentaly properly cuz its kinda annoying me. I would like to keep the benefits of meditation but just correct this a little @hollow current
this was difficult to understand. I'm happy to hear you adopted meditation with all its amazing benefits.
Regardless it seems you really should focus on your sleep first and foremost. And if I understood correctly now you are so good at being present that you are having trouble detaching correct?
What I would recommend is a simple exercise to practice going in and out of focus, or in fancy words exteroception and interoception (out and in of yourself)
You can use the protocol that Dr. Huberman proposed which is:
- Take 3 deep breaths with eyes closed and focus on your breathing
- Then open your eyes and focus your vision on a small point right in front of you (he recommends something in your palm) for another 3 breaths
- Then focus your eyes on something across the room (3 breaths)
- Then relax your gaze to take in all the peripheral information
Repeat 3x
what this does is train your brain to be able to move your focus at your will inward or outward.
Once you have a better control of your focus then you can add more things to incorporate visualization. For example if you can ONLY focus on your breath then maybe switch it up to focusing on your "third eye" (there some cool science to this) or focusing on a word.
You can also try to break down your visualization to senses:
- sight
- touch
- sound
etc.
You can practice visualizing with only one sense, a couple days later then try adding another sense, and so on. Building the skill up slowly.
Not sure if this is helpful
I will try this technic it seems helpful and may help me loose focus when I want to as u said if I got it right, which is a thing I need now
Cuz rn I like being fully focused when needed but being that focused when I just want to like stop thinking about the current time and just imagine or "dream" feels just weird to me (its like am not fully imagining something cuz am still focused on my breath) (mostly When I close my eyes cuz I meditate with them closed)
About visualizing I always did it with eyes closed imagining myself doing the thing (if its aim training I would visualize the room, how I hold my mouse, the background noises, etcc) to like try to trick the part of my brain taking care of that but breaking down each part seems easier and more efficien in my current state and ama definitely try that later.
Thank you for the help. I will tell you if it worked
can sitting criss cross in your chair lead to any health issues?
try to keep tension to a minimum
your mouse should feel like an extension of your hand
you just gotta get used to it
you will notice once u ur less tense ur aim will be way more smooth
good idea
make sure to do wrist and finger exercises to prevent pain aswell
Wrist pain is by far the MOST common complaint I get when I work with pros and gamers. And the first thing they often encounter online are resources telling them to rest, brace, just do stretches! Sorry, that’s not going to help in the LONG run. These are just methods for short-term relief. I’m Dr. Hwu, and I’m the esports injury doctor. Over th...
this is the one i use
i do it every few hours takes like 5min def worth in the long team
it will become easier the more you do it
np glhf
how often should i stretch my wrist when doing aim training to avoid injury's for the future?
every hour ? or 30 mins?
i do mine after every scenario or game
is it normal for my wrist and the back of my hand to hurt when aim training? this only happens when I'm aim training but never when playing ingame
maybe try and find something that helps with flexibility
