Possible visual bug: distant planets flickering when flying in a storm
Rotate left and next part button are the same on console, don't think they can be rebound
I've only seen this visual bug once, so not sure if it counts, but my home planet renders night time stars during the day

The game looks washed out as fuck
Yes, I have been religiously using Duds Sky Colours mod for some time
Gamma settings were “unlocked” so to say.
Need to reduce that down
Current default is 50% gamma
But you are not gonna convience me this is how the game is supposed to look like

But it’s not a bug, rather an oversight
My notebook does not support HDR, I have no HDR option in graphics settings

But there should be a gamma setting at the very bottom of Display & Graphics setting

The first one looked like it was mentioned in the patch notes
They changed up the lighting a bit
Reduce it to 10-15%
Even show this change in the trailer

Potential interaction / UI bug: changing gamma setting and applying the new settings is not recognized by the game, prompting me to apply the changes once more
The only bug that I noticed in the trailer: the screen inside Utopia ship still says Golden Vector lol

LB & RB = rotation
Now LB is bound to two functions, it's now also cycling through parts.

5a. Something's wrong with the graphics. Super noticeable with NMSCord Hub's water. Looks worse than ever, like a basic wall paint brush with green paint was used to paint over the water. Super weird.
5b. Also, the Graphics Settings are now only showing the Motion Blur option(?) @tawdry kestrelcan probably provide more details on this bit.
I know my stupid ass is half blind, that is why I like to crank up the colors to 11

glad you noticed it too. my sanity was being put into question because someone was like, well, water's always looked not great. i'm like, nah, nah, you don't get it. this is worse 
My Xbox One S controller is working just fine, I connected it via USB and started the game, I could use it right from the splash screen
ooh via usb. thank you for testing it! that's a relief. i wonder if connecting via bluetooth was an issue for the player who reported. i'll have to test it on my Deck since i connect BT.

Red, what does point 4 mean exactly? Bases by players, or in game portals?
bases by players, sorry. if you have a base right by a Portal, you'll likely be screwed. base will be completely buried. like no way to get out except teleportaling out.

Limitation being, we need to be within base default build area (~300 units) for crafting and base building interactions.
It was a Normal save, had completed the Expedition and converted it a couple hrs before I stumbled on it.

Yep, in Euclid - but no one on Expedition mode can see players/bases from other modes, and once you convert, you cannot see anything from Expedition mode.

I'm a little surprised HG hasnt set Expeditions in later galaxies more often, it was an added bonus for newer players to be able to access those after converting.

Possible oversight by HG to stay in Euclid when it could’ve been on any other galaxy.
Harvesting plants (or planting new ones) leaves/places image of fully grown plant in place. Any harvestable plant, and placement.

Game crashes to desktop the moment it detects controller input (keyboard and mouse works fine)
Playing on arch Linux through Proton, PS4 controller (tested with two third-party controllers as well, faced the same issue). Previous (pre-fractals) version of the game didn't have the issue
Controller can be plugged in and detected no problem, however when there's any sort of input (either analog or button) the game will freeze for half a second, then crash
(It must have memory leak)

My short range teleporters are completely cursed. Teleporting to random short range teleporters and not the ones I assigned them to before the update. They still point to their assigned pairs though, they just don't work as expected. I'm destined to walk 🥹

So far these are my main bug findings in all save:
1) In the inventory menu:
1.1) Scrolling up/down scrolls both the Tech and Cargo inventory.
2) In freighter bugs:
2.1) Teleporting using the short range teleport device to travel between hanger and bridge doesn’t play the correct animation. The character’s silhouette stays on screen but is transparent and the room/level design of the destination can be seen through.
2.2) Galactic trade terminal module is reported to have no interactivity.
2.3) Report of no collision/clipping through freighter base parts such as Galactic Trade Terminal module have been observed.
2.4) The input slots of large refiner room visually appear to have shifted to extreme left, and can be pushed out of bounds with camera movements within the window.
3) Game crashes:
3.1) In both expedition and normal saves the game crashes randomly even when playing without internet connection.
3.2) A rare occasion of game crash while selecting through the build menu tab is reported.
3.3) Game crash during derelict freighter instance while boarding/exiting the ship is reported.
4) Long loading screen:
4.1) A rather long loading screen time has been reported a few times by players across different communities, in expedition save.
5) Visual Bugs:
5.1) Marking deposits/POI in the analysis visor, like a copper deposit, also places the navigation beacon down.
5.2) Missing water bump maps. This makes water surface look like a colored, translucent plane.
5.3) Bases near portals are buried underground in some cases, making interactions impractical.
5.4) Planetary bodies flicker when flying during storm.
5.5) The colour/texture function doesn’t work currently when building outside of base property, so Save Beacons cannot be coloured when surveying.
5.6) The item entity Helios (in the anomaly) is holding in the hand appears to be a pink/purple smudge instead of a holographic image.
5.7) Multiple reports related to LOD have surfaced where the objects aren’t rendered with proper texture and high tessellation even at close inspection.
5.8) Models used in inventory (especially backpack) is scaled higher than usual when entering Minotaur.
5.9) Warp-in freighter model appears in the warp tunnel, and the ship freezes post warp.
5.10) Multiple reports of character phasing through solid ground, floors, surfaces has been observed.
6) UI/UX Bugs:
6.1) Changing graphics doesn’t apply the new settings. Game asks to apply the changes once more.
7) Console specific bugs:
7.1) Bugged controller binds: How they used to and should be:

8.1) In rare cases base parts are duplicated when changing position, leaving behind a functioning copy of the base part (such as teleporter).
8.2) Harvesting plants leave behind a fully grown physical copy that cannot be interacted with any further.
8.3) Some base decoration parts such as the wall light, Utopia expedition poster rotate along an imaginary fixed point while positioning on the wall by player, in build menu.

keeping in mind that Game crashes on pc are mostly being tied to outdated gpu (integrated+dedicated) drivers, when launching/loading saves

But the point is we receive only so many reports and help questions. Although it may look a lot, it’s not that much compared to the entire PC gaming community of NMS.
My GPU drivers are upgraded but the game still crashed because of comm balls at first, and then because it kept utilizing crazy amount of virtual memory. Although a simple PC restart fixed it, it was still a bad experience. This is why I have that at the very top. 😅
okay, so those two weren't really thinking of game launch/load crashes?
I have my drivers updated, I had 2 crashes when alt tabbing to Discord yesterday
And 1 crash today where I was just playing the expedition
I could start the game just fine. Interestingly right after update Steam had to download VC redist components

Since it’s not a per case detailed report that I’m planning to submit I haven’t mentioned a lot of specifics.
My personal report was a long one, properly detailed and I did share images too 😄
Aha! Comm balls crashed my game as it usually does.
After that I removed internet cable
But game still crashed within 5 minutes of loading
Event viewer showed NMS was taking a lot of virtual memory
I went through the standard procedure you suggest to others
Sfc command, clean boot
Driver checkup
Everything was fine
Restarted the PC
No crashes since
Let's add to that list "crashing on derelict freighter after boarding/exiting ship"
at least 3 users reported it, all of them on pc, 2 on steam, 1 on gamepass

I am positive my game won’t crash anymore. There were some overlooked conditions to cause the crashes.
PC had been working for 4 days non-stop
There was power fluctuation
Overheating could’ve been a reason
high uptimes tend to exhaust resources eventually - one thing that came to mind, did you check pagefile size?
Possible visual bug: look at the hologram Helios is holding

Ive got a bug that whenever the question "Do you want to start an expedition" pops up, and i hold down "E" the game closes, not even a crash report

So the game isn’t loading audio visual + graphical resources? On the surface level it looks like a major GPU issue.
@warm flare have you tried starting the expedition with multiplayer disabled?
Adding this, I’ve experienced this too.
I’m planning to share the compiled bug reports to HG in a few hours. The extended character limit due to nitro is also coming to cap.
And the reports we’re getting now fall under the general categories
freighter appears before the warp animation finishes, ship isn't moving when you enter the battle
The 8 main categories covering all types of bug reports are:
- Inventory menu bugs.
- Freighter bugs.
- Game crashes.
- Loading screen bugs.
- Visual bugs.
- UI/UX bugs.
- Console specific bugs.
- Base part/building bugs.
Appearance of freighter before warp completes (mainly in the warp tunnel right before the jump ends) was a thing pre Fractal too.

Game automatically changes my exocraft. I have Nomad set as main, constantly turns it to Colussus whenever I get back in.

No, no! Not at all. I did consider all of the known bugs and glitches while sharing the report. It’s just nitro not allowing me to compile the list any further here, almost reaching the 4000 characters limit.
Possible UI bug, don't know if Fractal specific - adding items to filled personal refiner causes the percentage value to go over 100%

Fixed a crash on boot for machines with integrated GPUs. Fixed an issue that could cause the Expedition to get stuck in a downloading state. Fixed a crash entering Abandoned Freighters. Reenabled tessellation on PS5. Fixed some stuttering performance issues. Fixed an issue that caused some bases around portals to no longer be aligned with the ground. Fixed an issue that caused some metadata used by mods to be stripped. Fixed an issue that allowed sensitivity to be set to zero. Reenable recolouring of base objects not associated with a base.
I think that lets us cross some issues out of our list

Possible animation / UX / ?? bug - the animation for using the freighter teleporter thingy between hangar and bridge is broken. I dont even know how to put it in words properly, so...
The same effect is visible when you teleport to your freighter and (if you're lucky) see the NPCs spawning in the base

But it didn’t look like time was stopped for you. Nexus bot was moving, other person’s ship flew out of the nexus.
Then why I was stuck in the air in photo mode, instead of falling down like a rock?
When in flight if we do enter photo-mode, we are stuck in time, regardless of MP state.
That has happened to me a lot, pre fractal. I didn’t think it was a bug.

yeah - this is how it behaved - had a bunch of fun with others taking group screenshots, using jetpack before entering photo mode gets you stuck like that 😄

secondly, soooo, photo mode left you static like if you had MP off, while everything else kept moving? is it still doing that?

- Entering/exiting exocraft with first person view causes game to crash, and/of graphical glitches.

Nvidia geforce dont ignore third party audio sadly, hence u used obs plugin for a time
not sure if it's a bug, but my overall game feels like i set my laptop's display/background light to 10%. I can compensate by turning up gamma to 100% but it feels like it's still only a fraction of the pre-fractal brightness/gamma.

i'm a bit hesitant to report it as bug yet because i also haven't gone through all of the settings yet
but there's a definite pre/post fractal difference in lighting
in general it's my opinion that NMS is pretty dark, but with the HDR update i'm not sure if that should improve or make things worse for me
Even on Xbox Series X I noticed a weird graphics issue. So I wouldn't be surprised if what you're seeing is a bug. Especially if you didn't change settings.
Hmm def check #nms-questions in case anyone there can offer some recommendations with settings. But like I said, I wouldn't be surprised if you weren't experiencing an oddity with the update which may be worth reporting if you can't figure out a setting that addresses the problem 
yeah, tomorrow i'll play around with the settings a bit and see if i can in any way reproduce the previous looks, and otherwise it goes in the report
and what i definitely feel is that i have more framedrops
i already play on lowest settings (because 🥔 laptop) and i definitely feel the performance got worse

That sucks. Def check #nms-questions, maybe there's a graphics driver update that can help? I really hope HG is able to fix all the issues caused by 4.1 soon. Sucks it's the weekend already though. We'll all likely have to wait till next week.
I already completed the expedition with only 2 random crashes, it's definitely still playable imo
and we know HG will pull alongside and get it fixed, so no worries there

didn't see this one on the list, already reported to HG, wondering if anyone's encountering it here: putting items in a refiner and using a teleporter to warp to another system and then returning will delete those items (both inputs and outputs). Doesn't matter what tier of refiner, or whether the refiner is active or not. Warping within the same system doesn't seem to have an affect.
That's an old bug, refiners don't keep their state when you go through a reload

is the plant visual bug fixed, the one where you harvest and it keeps it full grown state? not a major bug as it doesn't stop you harvesting and the plant regrows properly so you can harvest again when it's regrown

Kinda sucks that this is the biggest piece of new content added now
@obtuse jewel and @tawdry kestrel we found a major flaw in the twitch drop landing page that is extremely misleading.
It mentions something that is not in game mechanics. In game we need to complete Awakenings and start Alone amidst the stars to be contacted by Priest Entity Nada before Space Anomaly is available for summon. On the twitch landing page it is mentioned that the Space Anomaly is available after we construct the first base.
This can lead to potential confusion between new users who may read the description on how to setup twitch with NMS account to claim the drops and unlock them in game.
I thought it would be something to consider making a mental note on.

Not sure if it's been reported already or not; visual bug, on PC. I am in space station inhabited by Gek. Many Gek are standing in the exact same place, layering one over top of the other, creating weird clip-through and sometimes funny situations. Also had two identical looking Gek walking very close to each other with different names.

Switch has been having lots of graphics issues since Fractal. My game crashed and now whenever I try to load that save, it crashes when the world tries to render. Looks like I've lost all of my play time. Only 61 hours, but other than exp9, that's every hour I've played. Submitted ticket. Hopefully, there's a Switch patch that lets my game start up again.

I have an issue where autopilot doesn't work when I use my game pad. Usually it's holding LT.
I alao have issues with harvesting crops (star bulb, cactus flesh, nip nip etc.) They don't become small after being harvested and last time I couldn't interact with my freighter trade terminal.
2 last issues should be fixed with the next patch
Are they common issues?
I saw someone mention this tip on Reddit and it completely worked. My game was crashing after 5 seconds and turning off internet fixed it. I put my Switch into airplane mode and my game loaded fine and I flew to Anomaly and did quick save. Then I put my Switch back on dock with WiFi enabled and still working. Looks like it was a network issue and not rendering/shader problem for me.
This seems to be resolved to me 😅

It sounds like it might have already been fixed by reviewing the experimental patch notes. I think this might be the fix:
Fixed a sync buffer crash. Sounds like when connecting to discovery servers and syncing the data, it crashes - which was my exact problem.

The exploit was refining jelly gave 10 extra Dihydrogen than what was needed to create jelly.
So technically you only needed 40 Dihydrogen for an unlimited supply.
Make jelly with 40 > refine jelly to get 50

@fickle hinge Nutrient processor (at least on freighter) does not make available for placement in [left] product slots the ingredients stored inside nutrient inventory. (it will access starship, which I don't recall if this was a thing or not before) - normal - yet i can move items TO nutrient processor storage jsut fine.

❗ I have done this twice just now, and the game has installed 3 missing files. Please consider going the extra mile and completing the steps.
It may be a possibility that the 4.1 update did not install every file.
That doesn't seem to be the case for me. 1st picture shows Steam not being able to detect one file, it was the DISABLEMODS.TXT file. The 2nd picture shows "all files were successully verified" with no changes done.
I think I can do something similar on xbox, but would reinstalling have the same affect?

Left click on Windows Explorer address bar, type cmd, hit Enter
In the Command line:
- make sure you have the path set to NMS install directory, eg. in my case:
D:\Steam\steamapps\common\No Man's Sky>
- type the following command:
dir /s > list.txt
This will list all files and folders in it and save it in the text file
Send the file here so I can compare the two

the numbers in NmsVersions are what shows in the bottom right corner of your game's title screen. we only go by those because every platform has all kinds of crazy numbers and we'd go nuts trying to fetch those as well

Strange that there's no notes for Switch patch 4.1.1, but 4.12 for other platforms notes are available before patch is available. Also, Switch isn't listed as a platform for 4.12, so does that mean Switch's 4.1 .1 patch was same as 4.12 or will Switch get a second patch later?
Probably the same, but they have made a separate Switch announcement before so that may still come out
PS4 Controller on Steam - Loses control after a time playing also happens with a very old Xbox Controller (Might not be Xbox Controllers fault)... Defaults to Mouse and Keyboard control.

Not really I would say about 5-10 minutes or so flying around to find the Sentinel PIllar... I can't be any more exact than that I'm afraid

It does work when you use the Control Panel for setting up USB joysticks - I have a feeling it's the game not the windows... Windows 10/Steam here I forgot to mention.

Yes - Can't be any more accurate than that - USB to Hub normally - Tried in both Hub and PC onboard USB 3 - still not working.
I do think it might work now with the Controller Shutdown Timer turned off....
That, and is there any possibility that you may be comfortable with using the controller as normal instead of “Nintendo style”?
Although controller shutdown timer indicates battery preserving methodology installed at a software level, similar to switching PC into sleep mode.
I doubt this will kick in when the controller is active, it should only work when the controller is left idle.

Nothing wrong in knocking off every variable. Please do test the performance with controller shutdown time turned off, and by deselecting the controller to act like a Nintendo controller.
It could be something wrong at the controller’s software/driver level instead of something wrong with the game. Or it could be the other way around.
Current settings - Will need to reboot...
A few initial tests will put us at a better position, knowing that friend-entity bk is also going to test it.

From what I understand all short range teleportation animation and materializing/demarerializing animations are the same. This has not been tackled yet.

Creative save - Played 11m42s so doesn't look like the controller problem exists in creative mode But I did see a couple of graphic glitches, placed a square room and installed a teleporter, no low power symbol but no graphics to indicate such but it still worked... Also I placed a Base computer down and that worked to register the base but there seems to be another base computer placed as well...

Some of the things you’ve mentioned might be a feature of creative save.
