what I assume happened was that since this is the first expedition to have optional milestones, the game wasn't coded entirely to consider those optional for the whole thing. so while they aren't needed for the phases, it might be coded to where they are needed for the frigate

there's typically a sort of story to the milestones
there are 5 phases, the rewards at the end of each phase will be claimable on any save file
(not the rewards from the milestones for each phase though)

and it would be nice to go farm blueprints for eg biodome, nips, plant those, teleporter plus solar panel plus battery
you see how much work it's gonna be already. and then have a little drop in where people can pick up contraband to sell, check the crashed freighter off their list too

Bases created by you remain, including freighter base, but no contents in containers, nor any other inventory; if you build bases on each anchor world you can go there from the first space station and save a lot of travel and warp fuel.
The partners in time milestone remains, when you go to Polo the first time after the reset you get this again.
You will automatically get the Iterate/Repeat milestone shortly after spawning in.
Any discoveries you made or animals you scanned stay scanned, so you get secondary minerals automatically, and if you scanned all fauna you can get the nanites again.

Fixed an issue that could cause previous expedition saves to be converted to Survival rather than Normal mode after the end of the expedition
This one is converting to Survival, no choice
