The small waste piles all over the place can have them. It can take a while to find what you want, though.

I use photomode to look closer if the scrap pile has special waste so i dont need to get out every time

They also have different names when you look at the icon after scanning ("special industrial waste" vs "industrial waste")

Problem with this can be, before the small piles are moved it seems to only show one "industrial waste" icon even if a special is present. Which limits the ability to scan from a diatance and save time.

Yep, the special waste piles are especially rare.

I rode slowly when smooth along the side of the mountains even with trunk leaning left they stayed on the truck. When on bumpier terrain, I creeped in tiny spurts, no boosts. Also use a save thing periodically when possible.

They were 30 minutes away in the beginning.

A shame, it‘s one of the prettier desert worlds around tbh.

Deserts with a blue sky, trees, and a nice sand color are pretty rare. But yeah I wouldn’t settle down there either, simply because it‘s an expo planet, which means it‘ll be quite busy there even after the expo‘s over.

That was the closest to a speedrun I've ever done.

Just bothers me that the rewards appear in my main save as "previous collected" (which is fine, I have access) but "not owned" (which isn't fine lol).

If you had already scanned for it, you may not have had the milestone selected, or yeah maybe you needed to move out of the area you were in. Never know when it's a weird bug or a "feature," so we just have to suggested doing a number of dance moves until we narrow it down.

When i did it and it came up short (small bits of special waste that clipped out of the box) I was able to find some in the random small piles scattered around. Might take some looking but got it done.
Did the same for unlocking the other stuff later outside of the expedition.

Game mode explained:

Expeditions are an alternate time-limited, season-like game mode with a set of challenges rewarding exclusive items that can be claimed in any and all of your saves, in any game mode account-wide.

To get past expedition rewards, you must wait for possible future expedition re-runs (see past expeditions) or possible future Twitch Drops campaigns featuring old expedition rewards (see past campaigns). You may also obtain certain rewards via other unconventional means, including ship trading or using a "service bot" in the Creative Hub Discord. Additionally, PC players ( ) can get past rewards via save editing or #nms-modding.

I would imagine you would be able to see it as an icon on the horizon if your expedition save has turned into a normal one.

In that case you should be on your primary save since the expedition ended. If not, I guess just switch back in the pause menu and go to the terminal to collect whatever rewards you had left.

Since this is not the first report of ship trouble after the expedition ended, it is looking like whatever triggered the ship repair when finishing phase 5 was not included in the closing of the expedition.
Hopefully it is something they can fix for people in that situation.

The bigger problem is the expedition should just end, which generally means it kicks you back to your primary save and you don't have any choice but to complete it.

But last year there were X many expeditions!

There is no quota for the amount of expeditions per year. When Hello Games is ready to run an expedition, they will run an expedition.

What's supposed to happen, if you started from an existing save at the Anomaly, is it should kick you to your main save and you can collect your stuff at the terminal. If it's a new save, it'll just convert to a regular save wherever you are. I'm remembering that doesn't always work right for folks, though.

I didn't complete the expedition. Only finished phase 3. I can't call my ship because it is damaged nor does it show up on my radar. How do I get off planet? Am I just going to lose all of the stuff I got for the Colossus? I'd like to get it back to the terminal.

I've got a trade outpost that is an hour drive away. Probably don't have the credits to buy a ship though.

Yeah like I said above, seems to be especially bugged this expedition. If you started from an existing save, try going back to your primary save in the pause menu and relogging, see if that will finish the expedition for you.

Loaded into primary save, quit to title screen, loaded that save. I can resume expedition through the terminal but nothing is in the terminal to retrieve.

So weird, I wonder if there's a grace period or something. Either way you won't be able to put stuff in the terminal to take back, but you should at least get credits and nanites for the stuff you did.

The expedition terminal is saying my overall reward is heirloom stuff, but they aren't unlocked in the quicksilver terminal. A gesture and some posters were though. I'll try resuming the expedition.

You wouldn't be able to buy a ship regardless, since you're still on the expedition and under its rules. It's a pretty weird state.

Some issues come up when you still have stuff to claim, that could be another manifestation of it. Might try saving and hopping back to your primary save again.

I'm about 2 minutes away from an abandoned structure. I am going to see if I can use nav data to call my damaged ship down. If (when) that doesn't work, I'll do as you suggest.

And no ship terminal at the abandoned station.

There was a landed pilot, but they flew off before I could get to them.

Loaded primary save, quit to title, reload save, expedition terminal still just says I can resume expedition. Load into expedition and no change. Still just stuck in the expedition.

I'll resume my hour long drive to the trading post I guess.

Overall this is my second Expedition and I just didn't have the ambition to finish it. Had plenty of time. It just felt so tedious, and this is coming from someone who played Spintires, 100% Mudrunner on PC and Xbox, and who has put a big chunk of time in Snowrunner.
