I don't think there is a place to buy them besides that terminal
you can scavenge for them, pick them up on derelicts and win them in some space batlles

you mean phase 5 milestone 3? i did that in the starter system, not using anything but straight pulsing from one of the furthest away planets to the station. that said, if you simply complete and claim phase 5 milestone 2, you'll get an anomaly detector, which itself is used to find "deep space anomalies"

I think you don't need to worry about that -- people are usually taking back the corvette itself for the parts. But I did the exp. in a new save, so I wouldn't know for sure. 😅

Yep, and then you can pile on even more regular technology modules.

You can take as many as you want. Just put all the stuff you want to take in the slots, when it's full switch back to your primary save via the pause menu, pick the stuff up from the terminal, then switch back to your expedition save from the terminal and repeat.

Oh, right, I remember how I got there, I always built a base in the first system. So you can portal to the first system then just mark the rest (Set Waypoint) so you can just warp to them on the galaxy map.

You still have optional milestones to complete. If you don't want to do them, click end and it will allow you to send items. You'll need to click end again to fully end the expedition.

I know the transfer terminal restricts it to 24 items and 8 tech, but Google Gemini says I can just use that a few times and switch saves before I end the expedition...is that accurate? When I came to the anomaly recently, there was a massive whale ship that overflowed its docking pad onto the neighboring pad and empty space beyond, no other corvettes loaded properly with it there

You're gonna have to swap it with an npc's ship to get rid of it, then you can copy it again (maybe, not sure on the last part).

To date I have not seen a fix for that invisible ship bug.

Well, I was able to copy it again, and saw it briefly in my main save, but then I switched ships to make sure and it went invisible again and I was no longer able to copy it. Not a huge loss, it was a quick build and I have a storage unit full of parts. And tbh I wasn't expecting to be able to transfer it whole. But I hope I don't have an invisible ship forever hogging one of my 12 slots

Hmm, well I have the teleport thing in my freighter, but it said there wasn't a corvette docked, so I warped back to my home base and am going to try to restart the game. I summoned it from my base and saw an invisible ship come from the sky

Last one is easy, just go to a space station you haven't been to and interact with the console in the back like you did for the other milestones.

Just keep stowing away on space station corvettes until you get it

For this one you can just sneak on a ship, or you can choose to end the expedition at the terminal without completing it. That will allow you to transfer items back to your primary save. You will need to click end again to fully end the expedition.

I used the terminal and had an invisible corvette with no parts installed

I copied my ship a second time (no modifications) and it came over fine.

With the invisible ship, I was able to go to the SS and customize it and now it’s no longer invisible

Could that info be useful to you?

The save file for the expedition turns into a regular save after you're done so it should stay in the cache for THAT save. I highly doubt it will transfer to others

Everything in your inventory, the ship cargo, and base storage modules will be sold for units/nanites.
the only things you keep are 10 tech items of your choice, 24 cargo items of choice, and once you’re in a normal save you can duplicate your current multi tool and corvette for a small nanite cost (mine was about 1800)

I reccomend bolting everything possible to your corvette, so that the pieces come over instead of units

Specific corvette parts are much more annoying to get than money

A really nice tip: the starter planet has an exotic A-class multi-tool if you can get a sentinel pillar map

Or kill enough sentinels with the starter pistol, which requires a lot of skill

You can't scrap corvettes, but you can copy it, go back to the expedition and change it, then copy it again, as many times as you want. FYI to get rid of a corvette you'll need to trade it with an NPC, etc.

Oh I see, yeah you just have to be in/on someone else's corvette as they fly away. You can do it in a group, but I haven't done that. I just sneak onto one in the rendezvous 5 space station. Some people do it in the Anomaly, but that was too buggy for me.

Not sure, I think they just restarted and tried it again. You may need to buy another beacon from the back of the space station, bottom right. Basically you should see this mission tooltip in the bottom right of your screen after you open the first door if you are getting credit. You only need to read the pads until you get the credentials, then you can skip any unnecessary rooms (the ones with an O over them), and interact with the three terminals.

So I completed the expedition on an existing save both on PS4 then PC and have waited until now to end them. What's the best way to bring back the most corvette ship parts to the parent save?

Put items in the expedition terminal. If you need more spaces, switch to your primary save via the pause menu, pick the items up, go back to the expedition, repeat.

You have to do it after you've finished all the milestones. However if you don't want to finish the optional milestones, you can click "end" which won't actually end it, it'll just lock you out of finishing the optionals and allow you to start transfering items, then you click end again to fully end it.

If you've finished all the milestones including the optionals, you can transfer to your heart's content.

Not through conventional means. You can do it by save editing, though.

I'm not sure how I do the two step end. In every other save inside a save type expedition I've done I have to claim all the rewards which ends the expedition when I load up and go back to the primary save and can no longer go back to the expedition save. Until I've done that there seems to be no way to transfer stuff back from the expedition save except by putting them on a ship or MT and making a copy of it (for nanites) in the primary save.

Finishing all the milestones and collecting all the rewards will finish the expedition, but it won't end it. You'll still be in the expedition side and you can switch to your primary save and go back to the expedition save. Plenty of folks have done it here, if you're worried I'm wrong feel free to back up your save on PC and try it out.

Yep, as I expected, as soon as a accept the dialog above I get this dialog. Until I accept the dialog below I cannot transfer items and after I accept the dialog below, load up and go back to the primary save, there is no way to get back to the expedition after that. @cwmonkey, you're wrong, but please prove me wrong because I'd love that.

Based on the failure of this test, I'm back to the believe that if you have more corvette parts etc to take back than will fit in one trip the only way to do it is by putting all those extra parts on a corvette and copying the corvette to the primary save by spending nanites.

Just popping in to confirm that using Pause to flip back and forth from Main to Expedition is definitely a thing, and definitely works on this expedition. Switch 2 player here. Did it 3 or 4 times. CWMonkey speaks the truth! #believe.

@hot blade Hey there, following up on our wonky ship transfers I wanted to see if you have the same thing happening that I currently do: last night I noticed that I had my physical corvette in my inventory, but, I now have two of them, but only one of them visibly shows...the other is just a blank spot but has the name of the ship. So I was full (12/12) and thought I could get rid of the blank one by finding a distress beacon and swapping. But when I did that, it apparently broke the visible corvette in my inventory, and I could no longer call it in, so it must somehow be linked with the invisible one I swapped, and I think it must be something to do with buying it twice at the expedition terminus. Then you'll want to go to the terminal at the Anomaly and finish it there; that way you can transfer some stuff back to your main save.
You can also go back to your main save temporarily by going to the menu (where the milestones et cetera was) and go to the rightmost tab. There will be a "go back to main save" or such thing there. Then you can copy the ship you have in the expedition at the terminal, and you can also use that terminal to jump back into the expedition to fully finish it.

See, one of the datapads will have the information you need. Indeed, you just read them; what matters is what you can learn from them.
You then use that information on the terminal -- one of the options (1, 2 or 3) will be highlighted for you to use, because you got the information from one of the datapads.

Depends: if you started the expedition from your main save, using the terminal, there's a way. But I'm not sure how, sorry lol. I think people are making corvettes with all the parts they can and then copying the ship itself to their main saves, but please do check with someone that knows better lol.

It's iffy. If you get a hold of a neutron cannon with 3 s class upgrades it's pretty trivial to farm sentinels for nanites. You can also buy ships and scrap them. Interceptors are good for that if you can farm them quickly.

Or that, lol. Oh, I just remembered probably the best way to get nanites if you have lots of units. You can buy Suspicious Packets from pirate stations and sell the tech modules in them for nanites.

Funny enough, it's much easier to make multiple copies of a corvette. On your primary save copy it, go back to your expedition save and make one edit to your ship, back to primary and copy it, repeat.

No scrapping needed.

(Also you can't scrap corvettes, you have to trade them)

Shooting a space station tends to rile them up. If they just won't spawn you'll have to relog. Also there's a scripted event that happens after you warp once if you haven't done that.

Which planet is the best in this expedition for corvette parts. Some are really a pain. I need a few more parts in a pinch and want to be efficient.

I know the technique of getting them from the air of course.

I farmed partsnon starter planet.

There is also a planet without agressive sentinels with scrap in starter system i think.

If have some parts that u dont need, try to trade them for parts needed for milestones

I really hope they work out some sort of compensation for Switch 1 players. This is the first expedition since its launch that we've been locked out of.

How do I get more chromatic metal in expedition? I'm in the first system and my Corvette hyperdrive is damaged and I need 63 chromatic metal to repair it. Sentinel interceptors damaged it. I don't have a blueprint to make a refiner either.

Starter planet, scan minerals, most have chromatic metal as secondary element; or you can check if there's some tech you don't need right now that, on dismantling, will give chromatic metal

Also check if you have any repair kits

I did break down my boltcaster for the orbital uplink but the interceptors damaged my hyperdrive and I only have 20 chromatic metal. The sentinels are way too aggressive.

look for copper and when you refine it you will get chromatic metal

honestly quickest way to get it

Can also buy chromatic metal from some pilots I guess, but if you are near the starter planet and only need so little, I'd go the mining route

Weird indeed. My memory is fuzzy on this, not sure if I had it or not, but you probably get the refiner module for corvettes in one of the milestones

You get a sentinel boundary map from a prior milestone, just need to use it to locate a sentinel pillar; interact with its terminal

For info later: Use Blaze Javelin or Paralysis Mortors to stun them, then destroy them. Works well with Voltaic Amplifier too. (No need to fight them now)

Not sure. If you have any augmentation items left (for multitool, corvette, exosuit); repair kits; anything that can be refined into nanites (tainted metal for instance)...
And, of course, the corvette parts you got. For that I think you can just build a monster corvette with all the parts you can in the expedition, then copy the ship to your main save. But please do confirm with someone else lol.

To get past expedition rewards, you must wait for possible future expedition re-runs (see past expeditions) or possible future Twitch Drops campaigns featuring old expedition rewards (see past campaigns). Tip.
-U dont have to do tasks in order
-read all tasks and plan ahead. So u can do multiple tasks without much jumping and searching. This time u could do like half of tasks without leaving the starter system

the great thing about expeditions is you're not going to run into anyone who isn't also on the expedition, so any crazy crap you're pulling to try to complete it, chances are they are too.

I feel that pain, I spent the first few hours I played NMS scraping chromatic metal from rocks, before I knew refiners were a thing

It’s not really a big deal, most people are happy to have you aboard to see what they’ve built.
There isn’t anything you can damage or steal, and you can hop out at any time in space and call your ship

I had a couple accidental stowaways from the anomaly that had no idea what happened, I brought my corvette, got a mission, left, and realized I had roommates

I have 160+ hours on my main save. I forgot because of the time crunch and cuz I haven't used a refiner in months. I just buy whatever I want from space stations or NPCs.

Wait, I can't claim expedition awards or ships/MT after it's over on my main save? Did I have to 'End the expedition' manually in the anomaly before the event ended?

I’ll have to check later, but I think it’s both.
If you didn’t complete the expedition, you can’t claim the rewards at all.
From what I’ve heard you can only claim the ship/items/multitool during the expedition time.
Pretty sure you can claim the rewards for any completed expedition from the quicksilver merchant, on any save file.

That’s mostly true, not everything is the same. There were a few oddities with some creatures different on some planets I noticed, and some planets that had runaway mold had venom sacs instead when revisited

Yes and no. There are some milestone rewards that just stay in the expedition save/mode, and there's phase rewards that give you account wide rewards you'll be able to redeem at the vendor in the in any other save you have (and that includes future expedition saves too)

Building parts learned, words learned, character customizations, and tech unlocked is all local to that save. If you started the expedition from your main save the learned skills during it do not transfer back to your main save. If you started it from a new save, all your game progress remains when the expedition ends.

easier to use the parts from the containers to trade for shield, they give you two, and I traded for the last one cause I had some parts with like 3-4 that I only really need 1-2

not without save editing/mods on PC, only the current year's expeditions will be in redux for the end of the year into the next, so expeditions 1-16 are inaccessible unless they perhaps redux them but that doesn't really happen, especially as what I've seen, they haven't reduxed the first one, only 2 & 5-16 have been
