officially, only when/if the devs rerun them; unofficially, there's a way, but only if on pc (see link above your post)

the devs have established somewhat of a pattern, where they'll rerun at least the expeditions released in a given year at the end of that same year again. that said, devs have broken out of pattern and in 2023 started remixing older expeditions, off current year, with mixed sets of rewards, encompassing several different old expeditions

no, the save editors in #nms-modding are up to date & update along with the main game, you should be able to see your save files, they just could be in a hidden folder, so you have to do "show hidden folders"

eye stalk creatures & predators (afaik) don't count, it has to be 5 friendly/tame ground creatures, easiest way is to throw pellets on the ground, wait a bit, when huddled together, take the picture (see pins if not on PC), and you'll also get dung samples as a result

cause your username and steamID is different, I put it in as generic "username" and "steamID" but it should be your username and a string of numbers as your steamID, go through the folders individually instead

I figured it out, You have to put the season cache thing from the website for expeditions into the cache folder that is inside your steam id folder

for the bonefish, is it possible to fish it at a toxic planet with no deep water?

Just got mine on a toxic world (Ligart Prime, R3) with a somewhat deep ocean (50-60ish, 120 seafloor). Dug a hole to the sea floor with the Terrain Manipulator (for 100+ Depth on Lure) and kept fishing (without bait) for a good 20 minutes, but it worked out.
Spent like an hour fishing on a Water World, constantly repositioning for nighttime and got absolutely nothing <.<

Try to get both to 100+
I have no idea about fishing, but heard it in two vids already that this particular fish requires at least 100 on both in order to count as "deep water".
Sea Floor is the actual depth limit of the planet/map iirc.
Depth is however deep your lure is from your relative position until it hits the upper ocean floor - which can be cheesed with the Terrain Manipulator tho to dig it down to "Sea Floor"

I went to +27 -128 trying to find a base of someone only to not find anything there because it allegedly "glitched out" and isn't uploaded anymore. So I just went there, built a pillar to the water surface with the terrain create, deployed my base computer, put up a couple walls to prevent the toxin bs from annoying you, dug down a large hole to the sea floor, went back up and started fishing.
I'm sure there are other spots, but idk if sea floor level is the same everywhere and if the surrounding topography matters or not lol

Make sure to get "Aqua Jets" for your Ship first from the Anomaly to be able to land on Water - if you're going to that spot there are a few islands here and there but most of that area is straight up 0 land, all water

Ye, there is another planet nearby with alot of water (almost looks earthlike from space) - go there, get some crystal, salt, cyto, whatever you're missing and get that first

I couldn't get the proper depth when I was close to any landmass - if you're lazy you can try, but no guarantee

Once you have a well developed save its better to play the expeditions on that, since you get the rewards on your main save, and can even prepare some materials to use on the expedition beforehand.

You don't need to be online to summon the Anomaly. You just have to warp for the first time in the Expedition to enable it. Being offline only means you won't see any other real world players there.

we dont know if they plan to do so, but we know that at least some players have raised bug reports on the issue - we hope a fix will come out in time, but we dont know for sure.
that said, there's still quite a few days left for the expedition to end; i'm confident that if you started a new exp18 save and disabled multiplayer after loading in, keeping it disabled all the way, you'd be able to complete it in time and unlock the phase and final rewards at least. you could also do the redux that will most likely happen later this year.

gotcha. in that case, there's a couple things still: 1) you could just start a exp18 run from new save, disable multiplayer, and complete it that way (you basically already know what you'll be up against, so it will for sure go faster) or 2) later this year, if they stick to the pattern, the devs will rerun exp18 - giving players another opportunity

Switch only bug with the armor set. We initially didn't get the arm and leg pieces. It's fixed, but if you played the expedition on Switch before the patch, you have to play again to get those pieces unlocked.

Whether you will or not really depends on how the Bonefish feel about you. The rest of it isn't too bad.

Although, I'd recommend that as early as possible you get your hands on a second ship with a decent sized inventory and get back to the Ancient Bones planet in the starting system, because unlike most of the other places I found along the way when you find 1 bone there you find tonnes of them, so each 8-900u trek is worth your while. Really helps with the "dig up 80" milestone - fill up the 2nd ships hold with bones so you can summon it at point of need for the skeleton assembly gigs. Or maybe send over enough salvage to unlock a decent vehicle in the anomaly and use that to zip between dig sites and as a big pocket with wheels.

It’s advised to do this expedition with multiplayer disabled as this is a bug from it, I think people solved it by selling/deleting/storing all bones and then digging up new ones for it to complete it

It’s not actually handing in the bones, it’s just about having 1 skull, 1 torso, 2 limbs, and 1 tail in your inventory somewhere

Oh that makes sense. We did experience a lot of syncing issue during current and past expedition. Especially the terrains pops back into existing buildings whenever someone new arrives in the save and gets blocked out of the door LOL.

Like 75% of the time the AI gives me a good answer (though I have to check it to make sure it didn't imagine shit, lol). I didn't get an AI answer, but the first result is a reddit thread that has the answer.

I followed the Xaines World guide for 3 hour completion, I believe Sameas (something) the ice planet in the first system was pretty good for me. I got some nice patches of up to 8 and usually didn't have to fly more than a few thousand units for new batches

You can, but is not very obvious

You can just press the back button to exit out of the automated inventory expansion option, and you should have the inventory expansion item in your storage

This can only be used on an existing inventory expansion location, such as drop pods, space stations, or Space Anomaly, they look like purple fidget spinners (Starship and Multi-tool versions are Blue and Red, respectively)

Unless of course they changed how this works from last expedition

Make sure you're fishing in water that is at least 50u deep. I had the same problem when I was fishing for bonefish. Also, I'm told to make sure to fish for them at nighttime as well. Bionic lures should work fine as long as you have those 2 requirements.

two kinds of bonefish:

Living Fossils: Mostly a matter of rng luck. There's 2 kinds of bonefish at least that will count for the milestone. Minimum depth to fish at is 50u. Try with and without baits, if during night time can try Shadow Lure.

a) Whispering Bonefish spawns in all biomes that can have water, but only during night time.
b) Bleached Bonefish only spawns in toxic biome planets (planets with Fungal Mould on resource list), but can spawn at any time, day or night.

• To see current depth, cast your fishing line, then look lower left of the screen. If needed, press H or dpad left to reshow it.
• This isn't a critical milestone for progression, so it can be skipped and retried later. For example, some players have had luck in Dig Site 4 system, on the waterworld bones planet there, Romseyc I12.

Quickest way to gather the faecium I think is by dropping creature pellets on the ground near a group of ground creatures; some planets have plenty of ground fauna

They all eat together and, well, do their business after a few moments, provided you don't mine / shoot near them

FYI on feeding Cronus. It does not matter where you make the food. I believe it triggered for me by feeding him bone broth and getting an RNG good response, OR feeding him any fossil piece no matter the reaction. I did have to wait a bit sometimes for it to register after feeding him. Neither having the previous milestone complete nor having the Cronus milestone selected matter.

The broth you have to make (using 2 Softened Marrow) counts just for the broth quest. I fed it to Cronus and it did nothing. Feeding Cronus Softened Marrow will complete his objective despite his (usually disapproving) reaction.
I actually got 3 softened marrow while doing other things. I used 2 of the 3 drops for the broth quest, but manually made the third using a fossil to make sure it was something I had cooked; I don't know if that was necessary or not.

There is a mission for killing 5 guardians. Piece of cake with my carried-over multitool and its neutron cannon. Might be a bit of work with the stock multitool and boltcaster, but I think it also included a scatter blaster which should work as well.

At the starter system station, if you buy the two hyperdrive modules, you can warp straight to the 1st dig site system with your starter ship and access the anomaly there.

get rid of those sentinel weapon upgrades, and the impact ignitor (pulse spitter one), the sentinel weapons only work on boltcaster, and impact ignitor only works with pulse spitter, also considering how much open slots you have, you could put another S class mining beam upgrade on there

I've watched multiple "best weapon" videos. I've seen some people say neutron cannon is the best individual damage dealer, some say scatter blaster, some get a lot of mileage out of the boltcaster. AFAIK nothing says you can't stuff all 3 on a multitool, but it's a lot to tab through.
I run 2 multitools, one for combat and one for scanning and mining.

honestly, it's all down to preference & play style, each weapon can get really high damage potential for good dps, but it's only not the best to have everything cause you'd need to swap between all the weapons, I do a similar thing, I have one more for scanning/mining with the best of those upgrades I can find on a tool with a mining & scanning bonus (there is one weapon on it & personal forcefield just in case tho), the other is mainly damage dealing with good weapons on a damage bonus tool, but does have the ability to mine/scan when necessary, I'm a pulse spitter fan personally

The thing is you don't need to dive. Actually it's better to land over the water (hopefully you got the aquajets tech for your ship) and fish from the top of your ship

The depth requirement is for spawning large / colossal fishes for you to catch

Probably 5 to 6 hours of play time as long as you stick to the objectives. If you get lost or something is taking too long make sure ask here before wasting too much time.

I would strongly recommend you set Multiplayer to Disabled as well. It causes nothing but problems when doing Expeditions.

I've done it 5 times now between Xbox and PC (Steam). The last few times I caught the fish within 10 Lures on the ice planet in the starter system using Shadow Lures at night in 51U to 54U deep water. If you start a new save you don't have to worry about losing anything you move into the Expedition. Or, you could start from an existing save and just copy in the ship and multitool. There's no assurance they will do a Redux...

If it doesn't work out and you start from a new save you can just delete it and hope for the Redux...

Also, I collected all 80 bones on that ice planet and stored them in the Nutrient Processor. Then you just pull out what you need at each Rendezvous point and it is easy.

there's 2 fish, one is night time, deep water, any biome, the other is toxic, deep water, any time of day. I think. Might not be correct about deep water but it can't hurt.

Either one fulfills the spec. So for best results - deep water, toxic planet, night time - you could catch either.

Once the expedition finishes, you still get the opportunity to actually fully end it when started from an existing save. You get to visit the Anomaly and interact with the terminal there to fully end it, get rewarded, transfer items, etc

And do not hesitate to ask for help to get through the expedition in time. There may be some interesting rewards you wish to get. There is also a pin with milestone tips if you have not seen it already.

Just not a bone planet. I'm getting plenty rare fish, just not one bone fish. On my last play throug on PS4 I did this on a bone planet and got one. I'm thinking it has to be a bone planet of at least the odds are much greater there.

Any toxic bone planets in this expo? I'm at Digent in Adrielde which has everything except being a bone planet.

Plenty, I believe Waypoint and Interceptor didn't, as well as Echoes? Voyagers was Echoes

Also the Cross-Save update if that counts, though that was also a holiday rerun update

How long till a new expedition comes? Usually they take how long?

No way of knowing. Last expeditions were kinda glued into each other, but I remember we had some 3 months between Beachhead and Cartographers, so there's that.

(Prisms update came between the two expeditions though, so it was understandable)

That being said... I'll be surprised if we are not playing a new expedition by june

We've been non stop since I believe Aquarius with expeditions. We're due a break.

They could do one late summer and another in fall and still be on track for 4 expeditions in the year before redux starts.

It's weird how they let you do it through some work arounds on pc, I don't see why they shouldnt just make it a feature so everyone else can also do it

Yo I’m new to the game, sorta, like 20 hours total. Just been doing the storyline missions to learn. I want to try expeditions but I see one just ended. Is there a way I can play an old expedition ? Or do I have to wait until the next one comes out

Also, if I complete the expedition on one save, do I get the cosmetics across all saves? Is it like an account wide thing

Yep, it's account-wide, pretty neat.

As for replaying old expeditions: I reckon there are mods for that, but honestly it's something I never investigated

If you are on a new character, it can be dangerous yes. Sentinels will respond...

You can apparently save edit and play any expedition you'd like offline

I haven't done it but this is the answer I see when people ask about it
