will i miss out if i just buy an expedition starship and blast off to dig site 3? This expedition has like no warp drive upgrades and these warp cores are very weak

the first 2 dig sites weren't that bad distanc wise, but im gonna need to do 7 warps to get to bloody 3

You don't miss out on anything significant if you get a better ship. Many experienced players rush to a dissonant system and grab a sentinel ship since they have a better base jump distance.

Some go to the anomaly and get a better ship through copy one in or claiming a previous reward.

ive actually been curious about this. i remember in a past expedition when they introduced sentinel ships, you found them throughthe harmonic camp. But how i do i find them now on dissonant worlds?

Living Fossils: Mostly a matter of rng luck. There's 2 kinds of bonefish at least that will count for the milestone. Minimum depth to fish at is 50u. Try with and without baits, if during night time can try Shadow Lure.
a)Whispering Bonefish spawns in all biomes that can have water, but only during night time.
b) Bleached Bonefish only spawns in toxic biome planets (planets with Fungal Mould on resource list), but can spawn at any time, day or night.

• To see current depth, cast your fishing line, then look lower left of the screen. If needed, press H or dpad left to reshow it.

ok, so you started from an existing main save, and once you've completed the expedition, you can send back a limited amount of items (24 stacks of items, 8 stacks of tech) when you officially want to end it

and if you made a copy of your multitool and starship while in the expedition and make one small change you can copy it again when your out of the expedition and you will have duplicate technology mods

When started from an Existing save at the end you can load and transfer items back via the terminal multiple times. Load Terminal> Save> Options Menu 'Return to primary save'> Unload terminal, copy Ship/Multi-tool> Save> Visit Terminal 'Resume Expedition'> Load Terminal> Change Active Ship/Multi-tool> Save> 'Return to primary save' (Repeat as needed).

Just remember that you have to complete and claim all Milestones for the terminal to unlock so you can place items in there.

Anyone else having trouble getting the "collect a complete fossil" milestone? I tried the getting far away trick and that stil hasn't activated it.

Make sure you get 5 fossil parts that would make up a complete fossil. No need to assemble it, just keep it together in your inventory. Then make sure to return to the correct Galactic Paleontology Society afterwards.

Before trading you can just take out the bones you intend to trade and then pickup the Nutrient Processor.

try to find a nice planet with easy weather and flatish land, and go wild hunting for fossil beds. If you dig up a technology site, the Anomaly becomes available, and with enough of those you can get a minotaur, which will help travel from site to site, because digging those 80 fossils is a pain. Also, when you dig around go lilling the bad plants, as that is also a thing that you have to do, and perhaps feed some animals and adopt one. The 80 fossils takes forever, but I used the exocarft t go from place to place and that made it bearable.

Sadly its not that simple. I've completely finished every milestone execpt the two "collect bones" ones in phase 4 & 5. Principle field agent and master of bones. I have collected probably 200 fossils trying to do this. Built ever form including finding ones that match. I have got the reassembled milestones too. Its a bug for sure. Even gone to far away to see if it triggers.

Yes. I have cleared all bones from inventory and pinned the milestone so it says at the bottom right collect, 1/1 tail etc.. ive then collected them all and even tried to be in the system the digs in and when I've got all the bones nothing happens. The bottom right doesn't show anything until i get rid of all the bones and start again.

I decided to do this expedition while saving as most inventory slots upgrade as possible to get them back to my main save. It was really hard. I ended using half of them because the base inventory was really too small.

yeah, cargo bulkheads can more or less be grinded with derelict freighters and/or freighter rescue missions (where you never take the freighter, only payment) so that makes sense if you can't grind it out like that, I feel like I'm doing fine for storage cause I primarily use storage containers, only frigate fuel, certain lures/bait, certain physical currencies (tainted metal, void motes), and things I eventually want to put into storage containers are in my freighter cargo

I cheesed my way through this with the refiner dup. Easiest way to get the modules for expansions is through the guilds. Or if you get lucky with the space station missons, If you can get your standing up fast enough it's easy, then I found out some of the expedition rewards was some of the things I was grinding for, so that was annoying

Holy crap, I just looked and I have 947 hours. I think that's the most of any game I've played on Steam. NMS is a great zen game, wonderful for just puttering around and exploring. I'm in a beta test for an upcoming high-profile title and I've already got 400 hours into it, which puts it in the top 10 easy.

The only save editing I've ever done is recovery from Omega issues transferring back (I wanted to preserve my save beacons, and it trashed my discoveries list), and to clean up my discoveries lists a couple other times.

The only duping I've done is to create multiple ship parts for experimenting, and maybe tainted metal for quickly generating nanites on expeditions to clone my multitool and ship.

Living Fossils: Mostly a matter of rng luck. There's 2 kinds of bonefish at least that will count for the milestone. Minimum depth to fish at is 50u. Try with and without baits, if during night time can try Shadow Lure.
a) Whispering Bonefish spawns in all biomes that can have water, but only during night time.
b) Bleached Bonefish only spawns in toxic biome planets (planets with Fungal Mould on resource list), but can spawn at any time, day or night.

• This isn't a critical milestone for progression, so it can be skipped and retried later. For example, some players have had luck in Dig Site 4 system, on the waterworld bones planet there, Romseyc I12.

Do you have the mission selected in Options Menu> Log tab? If so, try disabling Multiplayer, creating a Restore Point and quitting the game. Load it up again and see if that helps.

I've started playing Expeditions with Multiplayer Disabled because of these crazy issues. It seems to help.

Did you speak with the NPCs in the dig sites ?

The field agent missions only requires you to have enough of each type of bones.
Typically 2 legs, 1 spine, 1 tail, 1 skull.

If you have these they should auto complete once selected after you speak to the dig site NPC.
Then you need to craft your own display, select the bones and craft the complete skeleton display

You can just dig a lot of bones at once and do all these missions without any further digging

I tend to love the third RDV system for that as the ice cold planet there has fossile beds with up to ten bones at once

No, you can get the bones on any other planet that has them.

On my last run of the Expedition I bought the blueprint for the Nutrient Processor, collected the 80 bones for the milestone, and just stored them in the Nutrient Processor.

Then when I arrived at a Rendezvous I pulled out the necessary bones and turned it in right away without having to leave and go get more bones... Lol

If on a Toxic planet yes, but any other water planet it won't help because the rare bonefish is limited to Toxic planets. Even if fishing on a Toxic planet switch to the Shadow Lure at night for a chance to catch the Uncommon bonefish.

It could still help, just not as much (or: the cost of bionic lures isn't justified here)
From my experience catching all the legendaries, the bionic lures decrease significantly the chances of getting C-class fish; most of the time you'll be catching either B or A class, which helps with the bone fish regardless of environment / biome

(Sorry, my english brain isn't working properly today, expect lots of editions to my messages lol)

I caught a lot of bone fishes by accident while fishing in many different places using bionic lures (not in the expedition though -- in the expedition I followed the pins and was kinda lucky, the fish appeared relatively quickly)

Quick question, is there a trick to taking a photograph of 5 land creatures? I’m on the expedition on the planet that has the 3rd camp, and I have a few of these eye stalk creatures as well as a hostile one, and it’s not counting it

If you look at the NMS discord, under EVENTS the expedition is listed as a calendar item so you can always check! That’s how I was able to look

so you can only replay the 4 that've happened in a year

I only started no man's sky 2 months ago and missed all of the exhibitions except for the relics one which I finished yesterday
