I’m rly new, I’m just wondering, I haven’t gotten to the anomaly yet, but the glowing live ship for this titan expedition looks sick! If I start a new save with expedition mode, and complete the expedition, will I be able to transfer the ship, and like I think there’s armor too or something, to my current save? Even if I don’t have the anomaly you locked yet? Or do I have to start it in that save. And just try to get to the anomaly and do the expedition as fast as I can lol?

Also, if I have two saves, can I choose which one my progress in the expedition mode save will be transferred to? If that’s how that works?

1. You can’t keep your expedition save as your main save if you started it from an already played on save, but starting a new save in expedition mode would allow you to revert it into a normal game save, whether that becomes you main save is up to you
2. You don’t have to keep it as multiplayer, even within the expedition, other people’s bases will be around tho
3. Get scanner upgrades that give fauna rewards, and even supercharge if possible, basically any creature will give it to you if you keep scanning

With what Eco said above, you'll get S class Scanner upgrades as rewards from other badges/phases that will help you get 90k+ units on a fauna scan. Check the rewards and focus on those.

@sly orbit before installing a s-class scanner module, save (enter+exit ship will do). if you confirm after installing that module didn't roll "+% fauna analysis reward" stat, reload restore point and then store a tech/module+install that stored tech once, then install the s-class module again

I got it done in a day, just one of the tasks I had an issue with, spoiler: ||you're tasked to find an underwater crashed freighter and the rendezvous water world for that phase may not have one, so go to another planet with water and it doesn't need to be a water/aquatic world, just needs an ocean.||

all really comes down to game knowledge and a bit of luck, but even an expedition character started from new save can sub-3h complete exp17. if you're starting from existing save though, you should ofc take advantage of the opportunity, and bring stuff in that will help you complete milestones faster, or not have to farm basic resources. see <#nms-expedition message> (and the additional link in it) for recommendations

upgrade module stats are generated based off a seed; reloading restore point allows one to get the module back, before it was installed; storing+installing any tech/module bumps the seed value used for the stat generation of the next module to be installed

remember to have stacked s-class scanner upgrade modules - as long as at least 1 of them has "+% fauna analysis reward" stat on it, you should be able to scan creatures in rendezvous systems that will give you the >90k on a single scan

they'll always be available to claim from the quicksilver shop, even after expedition ends, or you finish it. you can only copy it (using expedition terminus after back in primary) while expedition is live server side

@wheat cloak qs shop: quicksilver shop claiming can be done once per character, any character under the same account (because phase and final expedition rewards are unlocked account wide). technically, while in the same save file, your primary and your expedition characters are two different characters. so it doesn't really matter whether you use expedition terminus to copy into primary character or not.

Any point of interest you visit that has that waypoint marker where you can save when interacting with it counts as a discovery if you were first to visit it. You can rename them as you like in the planet discoveries tab if you want.

If you have units to spend you can go to an outlaw system and buy suspicious tech for modules that you can take to a normal system and sell for nanites.

Another option is go to a teleporter and see if anyone has a curious deposit base you can use to get runaway mold that you can refine.

I could not transfer mine out either - figured it was an expedition restriction by HG for "reasons". There is a mission in primary save I have not run yet that unlocks the purple systems so maybe that, for me at least, is the issue/bottleneck.

But, if you do the expedition from scratch on a new save, you won't be doing the quest you need to get to the purple systems as you retain and use your atlantid drive. But when it comes to bases, I don't know.

I have a problem with going underwater, couldn't even go snorkeling at one of the Orlando Disney water parks to see ocean creatures. Lol. That achievement was rough on me. Lol. If you're on PC it might be possible to solve it with CE (CheatEngine) if it isn't solved by fully logging out and back in, disabling MP and then logging fully out and back in, or some other such debugging. Possibly verifying game files.

im straight up avoiding gas giants after this expedition because oh my god its completely unnavigable because most the planets are constantly hidden from view by the gas giant its straight up infuriating trying to find a specific one, and heaven forbid it ever tell me the planets details before im in the atmosphere

Somehow, someone got into my base and subsequently went AFK there as I was dismantling my base.

in short, with every expedition, phase and final exp rewards are unlocked account wide. the only real reason to start an expedition character from an existing character is to bring resources/copy gear into expedition character, if you need the help; and bringing resources back to primary character sometimes

iow, it doesn't really matter unless there's something in expedition that you can't get anywhere else, and must be transferred

one thing people have to remember is that we only got the ability to start from existing character with exp12 - expeditions were always meant to be done from scratch anyway, they can all be completed from scratch in a few hours

It may be just a time error - I once continued an Expedition a couple of hours past the actual End - but the second I entered the Anomaly the "Convert to Normal Save" message popped up. You can copy your existing save into it and bring in items from it you later retrieve at the anomaly

You can copy your ship and multitool too but to retrieve those you need nanites.

And at any time you can load back to your normal save iirc throught the terminal on the anomaly.

Game mode explained:

Expeditions are an alternate time-limited, season-like game mode with a set of challenges rewarding exclusive items that can be claimed in any and all of your saves, in any game mode account-wide.

To get past expedition rewards, you must wait for possible future expedition re-runs (see past expeditions) or possible future Twitch Drops campaigns featuring old expedition rewards (see past campaigns). You may also obtain certain rewards via other unconventional means, including ship trading or using a "service bot" in the Creative Hub Discord. I believe Mac and PS4 players are still waiting for the update unfortunately

When I turned the game and my PS5 off just before noon it was not telling me that. And yes I turned it off as the update was live. It showed 18 in the previous exp section. I had the bone guy on the space station, just when I went to start the exp it said 17 had finished. Haven't been back on yet.
