i've tried to research this issue but can't seem to find info on it. i just started the new expedition, and when i try to open damaged machinery, the junk you normally clear to repair (rusted metal & slime) just automatically disappears, and the container opens.

the junk does not get transferred to inventory, it just vanishes. am i cursed?

I just stumbled back from warp where my fleet was to find the it attacking another fleet. And I remembered how they said to defeat it easy and did so. I am doing things I want some by accident. Hey 🙂 I'm doing the ancient bones part, and after I collect the bone(s) from the site the Analysis Visor keeps the lock on on that place. Even after 1000s of units of walking it points back to that place where I already collected the bones

It takes an act of god to find and get a way to haporin. I just got there and just sunk below. Now to get sea glass and the sunken freighter and then I can puch of to phase 4 and 5 rendezvous. Where are the freighter and sea glass?

Sea glass - and you'll kick yourself for asking - is on the bottom of the.... wait for it.... SEA!
Get a really deep planet, a whole lot of oxygen, a Nautilus and as much crush protection as you can reasonably fit on your suit.
If there's some a bit of a distance off, you'll often see a pillar of pink light from it. Otherwise you have to get out and scan for it, which leads to some crush-fatigue on your life support.
Stay in the nautilus where you can.

BTW it's a long, dark way to the bottom, but there's a bit of light when you get down there. And squids.

For the freighter, any planet will do if it has water and the system isn't abandoned, just scan for a freighter in the nautilus. If you're on Switch, they haven't patched the issue with Rendezvous 2 (which is an abandoned system) but far as I know it's fine on all other platforms.

Trying to find a submerged frigate I came upon a signal. I chased it to a planet. Got a location to a sunken ship next planet over. After some hooplah to find it, just a starship and another recording. Plus Nautiloid plans. I claimed the ship thinking when I get back to my freighter it will be there and I can fix it up at my leisure. No, that is now my active ship. Lucky my last restore point was the last time I got out of my ship. I then left and said f that quest for now. I just need that sunken frigate and then I can meet up at the last 2 rendezvous points and complete the expedition.

to disable multiplayer is to go in game options, network settings, multiplayer=disabled

don't worry, anything else just ask. remember that "reach rendezvous" milestones are going to be done in order; e.g. don't try to do reach rdv 3 without having done reach rdv1, and reach rdv2 first (btw, drop and claim a base computer in rendezvous 2 system when you get there)

till then, you don't need a base

I take my time when doing them. I also do them more than once most of the time because I like having a task list. Lol

On my current new start Expedition save I'm at 18 hours and just made a base on the RDV 2 planet. I got a freighter and ended up getting side tracked working on upgrades for that.

I've done like 6 or 7 so far so I don't really speedrun them but I won't take time to build good bases or anything

I finished everything in 2 hours 54minutes and I still spent a good thirty having fun on the first planet and finding a A class sentinel in my first system

Aye..I kinda just try and blast though them. To be painfully blunt...most of the expeditions are the exact same...crap..run here do this do that collect this... it's a series of fetch quests...but don't get me wrong here thay are starting to see that and fix that. The exterminator expedition was amazing...and I know a lot of people didn't like it but I loved the intergalactic fishing trip 🤣
That was relaxing and fun for me anyway lol. Oh and I almost forgot that one with the ship you get that looks like a UFO lol

really late reply, it's normal as the expedition save is separate from your main save. you can claim your rewards within the expedition.

they're really common in gas giants, like the starter planet and the rendezvous 3 planet- with multiplayer disabled, try both of those planets, listen for the stronger winds, tornadoes have lightning strikes in the middle

account wide unlocks like expedition rewards, including expedition ships, can be claimed once per save, but it's probably best to say "once per character": your expedition "character" and your primary "character", are, for the purpose of claiming stuff from the quicksilver shop, separate "saves".

(even though technically, on disk, both characters are, when expedition character is started from primary save, stored in the same save file)

Star systems can be inhabited, abandoned or uncharted. We can easily tell the difference between inhabited and uncharted, but abandoned systems are a little easier to miss. Take a look at the embedded image.

Anyone else getting the issue with the ancient bone mission where after you retrieve the bones and then do another sweep, it just scans the exact place you just dug? I have to get in my ship and fly away for it to scan a different location

Yes and I've reported this to HG so many times. The mission is actually a lot easier if you select another mission and just look for them on your own. At least one of the Moons in the starter system had Ancient Bones, so that's where I completed that milestone. If you are still on the planet with bones, try changing your mission and then look around for the Yellow Icons that look like the ones for Salvaged Data.

So I have a question. There were some new (new to me anyway) technologies learned as some of the milestone rewards. Do those transfer over to your main save if you started from the anmoloy. Do you have to install them first?

The blueprints don't transfer. You can store installed tech and transfer it back at the anomaly.

It isn't actually a single one it can proc from multiple scans iirc

The milestones give you enough S class scanner upgrades to get this easily. Install them adjacent to the scanner, in a group.

I did it fairly early on, by scanning a rare ground creature with just 1 s class scanner mod installed.

I've been searching for an underwater crashed freighter for about 20 minutes while exploring the ocean with an exocraft, but I haven't found anything. The sonar I’m using keeps responding with 'no nearby building.' Has anyone else experienced the same issue? Or does anyone have a solution for this?

I've tried moving to different systems and planets, but the result is still the same.

So I was one of the people who had the planet expedition bug after patch 558 I went back and the quest to take the photo was uncompleted, but I still can’t find the right system to go to none of the space stations and the teleporter leads to that system I managed to find a portal, but I don’t have any of the cliffs unlocked to be able to access those systems manually. One of the youtube videos I've seen about the Titan expedition explains that if you find yourself in a spot just short of the 1,001u depth (say within 980u or so), you can always use the terrain manipulator to dig into the ocean floor to get to 1,001u. Just do it quick because the water pressure will shrink your health bar fast so make sure to stay as close as possible to your nautilon while you dig.

i'd suggest going to the station, then exiting the station facing the gas giant. watch the moons on the mini radar. pick a direction around the gas giant to go in first, either left or right. when you approach a moon, approach it and enter atmos and land in a way that your ship is already facing the next moon, never turning back to where you came from (in the case of the first moon, you came from the space station). keep going all around it till you're back facing the station, remember that some moons are on different planes
