It's not to skip it, just set that breach 3 portal to activated to get past the bug.

Just would really be disappointing to not be able to completed the Expedition as a whole and miss out on the ship because of something like this.

Yeah and you get to sit on the experimental branch until it's patched to the main branch, because experimental branch saves are not compatable with main branch saves.

No, disable Multiplayer in settings, then in the game go to your Expeditions tab, select a different milestone, wait 10 seconds, then select the Breach 3 portal one.

This is what worked for me:

1. Disable Multiplayer (overall this should make things run smoother anyway).
2. Select a different Waypoint in your Expeditions tab.
3. Wait 10 seconds.
4. Select Breach 3 Portal waypoint in Expeditions tab.
5. Ensure have the correct Elixir of Blood (the one with the swirl symbol).
6. Follow waypoint to Portal * (there may be two portal locations. IF one doesn't work, fly to the other one and try it).

As a note, I'm on the Experimental Beta version.

My complaint was that I finally just got upgrades to be able to survive some of these things and I thought I had to make a new save on a new character to be able to do them.

For example I just got a thermal upgrade to survive on cold planets, and I thought starting a new save was the only way to access the expedition. Now that I don't need to farm for upgrade just to get tainted metal on a freighter and can do it on my main save changes my opinion.

From what I gathered, each expedition makes you start from scratch, but if you do use your main save you can bring some material with you in that expedition , you just can only retrieve those material you transfered once you can access the anomaly.

But yes every expedition is meant to start from "scratch" so all player from all background start on a even playing field, cept the lil extra the mats you can bring along, which help to skip a tiny bit of stuff, but not a huge difference.

ok more info needed for you. All expeditions will make you start out without anything even when running an exsisting char.... however you can choose to give your exsisting char materials to claim in the run and then also claim your multitool and ship using nanites. however most expeditions will reward you as you complete milestones giving you everything you need to complete the expedtion. the current expedtion even has a guide online that will walk you through doing it in 3 hrs so you can then swap back to your main save and just continue on

yeah you only will ever need to play on 1 char even if you do expedition content and if you use your main save and bring in your upgraded multi tool and ship you will breeze through every expedtion that drops

You actually DONT have to "start over". You can end the expedition and continue into a main save with that same character and all the technology,ships, multitools you acquired during the expedition. It literally converts into a main save at the end of it. If youre fresh youre basically starting out with a headstart on upgrades

Yep but imagine long time players just dropping in a expedition with maxed out everything.....there isnt much of "an expedition" to do if you got everything to do everything in a instant, the way its done is to allow players to feel the early stage again but in a accelerated pace (the reward from each task propels your progression much further than in the normal gameplay) I think it make sense for those reason

I did it on two account, the first attempt i completed it in 10 hours, and the second in 6hours (and some have done it in 3hours ish )
By the end I had arought 10 to 20mil credit, over 9k nanites and most of the unlock taken

yes when the expedtion starts it feels like a new save your first few missions pretty much introduce you to the mechanic of the expedition then after the first phase you can access the anomoly and claim materials and stuff that you chose to put into the expedtion

I tried exp 16 because i wanted the ship, but i tried to "speedrun" it since I knew from the getgo I wanted to start from the very beginning without getting too much goodies handed out to me

sorry wording. if you made it to phase 3 then you pretty much already done what everyone had to do durring phase 1. when you had made it to phase 2 if you had used your main save and given it materials you would have then been able to go to the anomaly station and claimed stuff to use durring the expedition making it easier to complete.

yeah if you used your main you would have to start it all over again. however since you made it that far as long as you finish it on that char you can still claim the rewards on your main save... the only sucky thing will be that you will have to spend nanites to get the ship reward on it but after this if you just use your main save going forward for expedition you won't have to worry about that

The reason they do this its because the experimental branch is not perfectly checked for EVERY possible new bugs this fix brought, so they would rather not push it to the main , stable branch , its not like an indie early acces game , they have a certain standard to uphold I would assume, more so since how the game was received at lauch

No new player knows to complete one phase and then go back to their main save to finish it, for example. Not that we can finish it, it's bugged, and if you want to fix it you have to be on steam and go into experimental and play that until it's pushed to live.
