1. if you started exped from existing save, you can copy 1 ship from exped into the main save from the expedition terminal in Space Anomaly once the exped is over

2. exped takes place in the same galaxy as regular game modes and the same ships can be found there

So just note the coordinates to these planets / systems on expedition and revisit those places on other game mode and grab the ships separately there

yeah; although any mat/resource (with some exceptions, but none in exp15) can be obtained in any mode, so you're not required to, or would be losing a lot if you didn't; in other modes, you'll eventually come to know locations where plenty of players build farming bases/mines, and you yourself will certainly build some as well. that said, you do have 24 stash cargo slots to use, so, yeah, if you see something that you hadn't seen yet before, might be worth bringing back, especially if your main save is still early on

Good morning, I had to start over on the PC after I lost my Xbox. Are there any plans to make the expeditions available to do again? I lost all my rewards but the last 2 I have done on the PC. I thought since there is a terminal now to start them that maybe they will come back.

we don't know since we are all just players, but it's quite possible i'd say; at least, if they stick to the rerun pattern so far, exp12,13,14 and 15 will be rerun later this year. as for the others, well, there's always a possibility devs might rerun them again, or bring back some of past rewards through twitch drop campaigns for example. some things, like expedition pet eggs or unique ships, can be gifted to other players. if on pc, there's always save editing/modding, and for all plats with mp support, service bot

yeah, known issue. you can try to run the game offline.
Loading times got really long in systems with a lot of other players bases, running the game completely offline without discovery service seems to be a workaround for now

which in this expedition seems to happen very quickly, after repairing your ship and leaving atmo it gives you a hyperdrive and there was also a unit of launch fuel in my ship so you can warp and get to the anomaly within like 5 minutes lol

So uh... the fishing skiff appears to do none of these things. It bobs on the waves like crazy, it doesn't protect you from weather or temperature, and in fact it's almost dumped me into the sea few times.

Be on the rendezvous 5 planet (Cayett Major in system Biychiem) and fish at any body of water. It is unclear if any bait is useful for this milestone. It's just rng.

if thats what you are refering to then yeah, afaik it is unclear, I assumed itll work but I have no solid proof for that, it wasnt first try even with the bionic lure and that one catch isnt just any normal fish either

The only condition I see in mission files (aside from being on the proper planet) is to have the milestone set as active

The logic seems to be quite simple

This isn't the first expedition to end on the note it did though, and that mood is reflected in a number of regular game missions - it seems the game is generally reinforcing a message of "don't get too into your hobbies" be they travel, simulating galaxies or sticking metal spikes into the mouths of marine life.

Hello! I’m new to the game, and started playing this week. I’ve started to gather materials, and heard about this expedition thingy that I saw I should probably complete soon. I’m not sure a whole lot about the game mode, what is the best approach to going through it?

You can bring some tech and items, you can also make a copy of ur ship and multitool once you unlock the anomaly.

If you finish the expedition, and you carried over your save, do you get all the stuff that you didn’t initially carry over? Like I have 4 ships, but it looks like I’d only carry over 1 tool and one ship. Once I finish the expedition, will my other ships be returned to me?

You won't really need a lot for Aquarius. And it's not actually required to bring anything over, it's just an option. Expedition is 100% doable from scratch.

Warp cells or warp hypercores will save you some time. And anything for haz/life support, like gels/batteries/sodium/oxygen.

the best thing you can bring is modules you can sell for nanites, or runaway mold to refine for nanites, so that you can claim your ship and multi-tool
otherwise, just scan fauna on the first planet (there's only 4 and they're all birds iirc) and that'll get you 1k of the ~5k you need, plus you'll get some from milestones

if the ship you bring with you is sufficiently geared up you don't need to worry much about fuel. you might want to bring some mats to make good bait tho: spicy chum takes mordite, phosphorus, and di-hydrogen. some chromatic metal is a good idea too.

other than that the best tip I can give you is to make sure you have the milestone that you're trying to complete be the one that you have actively selected

If you start from the anomaly you can switch back to your normal save at any time

It keeps the inventories seperate also, its very nice.

Again, I'll repeat for everyone, it was MY experience that (over four different planets) EXTREME storms do not work for the storm fish. You need a normal planet with simple storms.

DO note that it's likely there are "hotspots" - if you're having shit luck for 8 minutes or so, move to a different spot on the planet

We dont know all the details, but given what we do know of loot drops etc, this is a possibility

And again, make sure your planet's storms are not EXTREME and you'r enot on an activated metals planet. I havent fully tested this theory yet, but in my experience with the expedition, planets with extreme storms REDUCED my chances of makign the phase requirements

(and/or killed them entirely)

This is a bit bizarre because I've had the complete opposite experience, both in the expedition and in main.

I completed 3 milestones: storm, scorched and large fish all on an extreme weather activated metal planet along the warp path. 2 hours for all three.

And on main, I didn't catch a single storm fish on any non activated metal world. At all.

Depth does matter, from what I've seen. Ex: if the storm fish you want is a collossal size, but you're fishing in the shallows. Then yeah, you're going to have a heck of a time.

if they upload those bases once they finish the expedition too, they should transfer afaik. But even if not, once you have access to the Anomaly, the teleporter there will always show featured bases from other players, and that's a wonderful way to see great work done by other people. And to travel to new places.
