From all of the chat it seems like each drop system has at least one apex predator, if not more than one. So scanning as much as you can as you go seems like it will trigger eventually

When you finish the expedition you can transfer items, MT, ships back to your main save

finish expedition, have that tool equipped when you do, you'll be able to clone it when you're back in primary save, same way you were able to do with ship and weapon from main save once you got to the anomaly

No Man's Sky - Exploration - Finding Rare Creatures

Tracking down rare creature spawns might take some time. Here's a few tips:

• Ensure that you're looking for the creature in the correct hemisphere and/or day/night, if specified in the Discoveries > Planet > Fauna screen.
• The game despawns and respawns creatures as you leave and enter/reenter areas of the planet, like a cave or the area around a building. Reloading would accomplish the same thing.
• Throwing Creature Pellets on the ground helps attracting fauna attention, if they're close enough, even if underground or stuck inside terrain.
• Underground creatures can often spawn near cave entrances, often big enough to be called open air caves. These large patches of cave terrain can often be found near buildings. img1, img2
• Some caves will be too small to ever spawn creatures, so be sure to explore cave systems that have at least a fair ammount of room in them.
• When searching for underwater rare fauna, diving into deeper parts of the ocean/lake seems to help.

📖 Did you know? Weird biome planets have at most 2 fauna species, and thus make it very easy to progress the Zoology Journey Milestone.
