The progress was really just an illusion, a dream if you may. When you convert, you will wake up back on your new save with added units, nanites and QS.
and if you store the tech ans send it over, you will have that too.
Only thing you'll remember is you had a good time but some alien slipped you a micky.

sure you could have done that maybe in your normal save ... but than you would not have all the rewards from the expedition ... which are unique .. you can not buy that ship anywhere in your "normal " world

You can copy all of your ships if you return to your primary save without ending the expedition

Well sounds like you need to become a new Save editing student. It will resolve all issue you have now.

When started from an existing save:
You will have to visit the Space Anomaly to finish your expedition at the Expedition Terminus. Now is a good time to sort your inventory, gather valuable items, resources, package tech, and switching to the Multi-Tool and/or Starship you may wish to keep. After this your save converts back and you can once more interact with the Expedition Terminus to take the valuable items you stashed. It also allows you to get an exact copy of the Multi-Tool and/or Starship you last switched to on the expedition save, including the installed technology, at a cost of Nanites.
Mission critical items and companion eggs can not be kept.
You may not be able to access all possible inventories, nor will all items possibly left in them, be turned into value.
All other Starships and Multi-Tools, Freighter, Frigates, Companions, will be lost.
Any bases made will be kept, but any possible inventories as part of the base(s) will be empty.

How did you locate it?
I would jumped to a new dissonant system. And try there. The expedition is getting busy and there are issues when multiple travelers are on the Milestone.

I had this happen to me too. If you get all the stuff you need for the quest, then go back to where the ship was, save and reload, it'll be there long enough for you to finish the quest and claim the ship.

Ha, tricked it! Found one that didn't fly away, probably because I was already on the mission, reported the base to get rid of it, and now it's sticking around. Going to try to cancel the mission and see if it stays....and it did!

Yeah, it's quite the refreshing firehose drink experience.
Made the mistake of starting a "quick" side quest once that turned into a slog.
Also learned to read ahead in the milestone rewards and not waste resources buying things we will be given unless it's a huge QOL boost.

You should make copies of any ships or multitools you want by equipping them, upgrading them as much as you can (tech or other upgrades), pausing the expedition, cloning them on the anomaly, and returning to the expedition to equip new ones and repeat (you can transfer tech between your ships/tools to get them on each)
It costs nanites to do this and each ship can only be cloned once

TP abuse is great for getting back to your base, stations you have visited (ones in key systems are marked as such) and finding bases you might want to visit.
That's how I saw the S-class that got away.
They made a base with some landscaping that made an arrow on the ground pointing in the direction of the crashed ship rather than close to the location.
I'm assuming that since I ca n no longer find the base any more it was reported and erased or deleted by the owner?

Don't know anyone whose save cannot be used.
Soft lock just freezes the player..game still runs . quit and return and you're still in expedition, that's the only bug..

But console users can do the workaround to end expedition.
And there are 2 one for new save starts from main screen and one for converted saves created from main saves at the expedition terminal in the anomaly.

With the cloning method you can clone any ship or mt to main save regardless of it being completed but note that it has to be a different ship or multitool being cloned every single time because it won't let you clone it more than once per mt or ship

I finished the expedition, and when I go to claim the research for the fifth planet it freezes after ending the expedition anybody else Ensing that it’s done it like three times to me where I accept the ending of the expedition and then all controls go away. I’m on PlayStation five by the way.

You should be fine from what I heard this patch will fix existing saves with the bug already happening you should load up with the normal expedition completion message without the crash

Ok, wish it charged your pulse engines instead since we already have a way to charge launch thrusters (also why would a solar sail help launch thrusters if it’s not even in use on land)? But whatever. It was a dev decision I guess 🤷‍♂️

They get energy from the sun while flying in space then when closed on land the energy gets dumped into the launch thrusters

Oh, alright. I guess that makes sense (but then they should recharge stuff in space too when you are traveling in space as well and then give fuel efficiency when you are using boost etc (so where is the space recharge)

It already gives you pulse drive efficiency and pulse drive effectiveness during pulse drive use and it reduces the cost of taking off

It was. Maybe I was supposed go go back through the black hole to go back and it was making me travel through regular space. I first did 2 hrs of traveling then came to the mission planet to do the under water stuff and then it sent me back on a long line of system jumps again to get to the rendezvous. i don't see why you couldn't go get all the glyphs
you can get some of them via traveller npcs in the expedition stations
and there are online resources that will tell you how to get the rest (people have made lists of stations with travellers that you can get to even if you only know a couple of glyphs)

you can finish it without concerning yourself with glyphs
i don't know how it grafts back into the main questlines, i haven't tried to figure that out
if you are new you see all this glyph stuff here but if you never read this discord you wouldn't think about glyphs in the context of the expedition
if you really want to have a particular ship or multitool you saw reference to here, you might want to horse yourself into using glyphs to get it super-fast
but it is not somehow necessary

I've completed everything, collected all rewards, and in the log for "Expedition Twelve: Omega" all 5 phases are ticked and complete, but "expedition complete" is unticked. All the optional secondary Expedition Research objectives are complete and collected, but that box in the log is still unticked.

Yeah the nanite farming is so good, with so many player bases at runaway mould, that I'm actually going to farm a bit more before ending the expedition.

Speaking of which, is there a better way to find runaway mould other than just randomly coming across it?

can technically refine it from Residual Goop/Living Slime into Runaway Mould, then into nanites. I've seen many vendors with Residual Goop/Living Slime.

People are saying you can do both: clone it to your main save before actually ending the expedition via the terminal, AND buy it again from the Quicksilver vendor. Thus allowing you TWO of them.

Set the runner as your current ship and your favorite multitool from the expedition. Then, before ending the expedition, switch back to your main save (assuming you started from one), go to the anomaly expedition terminal, and there will be options to copy your expedition multitool and ship. You can copy each tool/ship back ONCE.

If you cloned a tool/ship from main save to the expedition, I don't think you can copy that one back.

Any tech installed on the cloned tool/ship will copy as well. So you can tech up ship A, clone it, remove tech and tech up ship B, clone it, and you actually end up with two copies of the tech. Handy for S class modules.

When you first start the expedition, your expedition appearance will be a copy of your main save. However, the exosuit itself is new. It is my understanding that any new appearance mods granted as quest rewards will be available at the quicksilver vendor once you end the expedition, but I don't know about purchase unlocks.

I'm following a YT guide and he doesn't show how he got it so I asked and he said that you get it early on when you build your base but I built a base already and claimed all my milestones up to that point and no base teleporter. I also read every single milestone reward and nope no base teleporter. When do you get it??

when looking for rdv locations, i always do a fly by in a circle above it, expanding the circle as i complete full circles - if it's taking me more than 1 circle to see the rdv down on the ground, i normally enter photo mode, set fog to 0%, and then pan camera around till i find it, and if that fails, i'll land anywhere, target sweep+visor custom marker to get direction and distance, get on ship and fly the rest of the way

You don't need to activate a portal in this expedition.

In order to activate the portal you'd need to collect up to 16 glyphs, but I believe you only have to collect one glyph during this expedition. Having one glyph would only let you travel to one location maybe and that's not important to this expedition.

Another question.. how do I know that I am equipped well enough to fight off attacks in space? I plan on doing the smuggling tomorrow but I am scared I might not be quick enough to avoid being detected

So far I summoned the anomaly when pirates detected me XD

Actually you don't need to worry.

One of the milestones in the expedition gives you some nipnip buds which are illegal. When you get them just teleport to a station and sell and you're done.

Ok, I know the patch came out for omega, but istg, I've been trying to claim the starborn ship, and it ain't working. My Xbox probably installed the hot fix, and I ran through the update list several times to see if it did. I continuously tried to claim and move on, but once I hit accept after a page says "you have completed the expedition, head over the anomaly to go back to main save", I get hit with the no HUD and movement crash.

Anyone have a solution other than just reporting this?

When I last checked (24 hours ago) Xbox and Switch have not been fixed yet.

I just checked on my Series X and NMS version is still 4.51.0.0, so no patch for Xbox at this time. I also checked for updates and none are listed.

Man, I went overkill on ferrite dust. Refined it all to be more compact and I ended up with about 5k magnetized ferrite

In my case I had to return to each planet that hadn't been completed by the time I finished the non-optional goals of the expedition.
