You probably know this but when you go to manage your fleet on the bridge, you can instantly teleport to any of your frigates and there's a teleporter on the landing pads so you can take it back to your freighter.

I was in the Kariash system (3 sword conflict) where the Rendevous 5 location was in expedition and kept getting attacked by pirates, I warped to the Nobeoka system close by which was 1 sword conflict and got some expedition stuff done. Do I need to warp back to the Kariash system to use the Homeworld Repeater? Or can I stay in Nobeoka system and use it.

I made a manual save, then used the Homeworld Repeater in Nobeoka and it worked there. Didnt have to go back to the system Phase 5 took me to (Karaish). I have now finished the expedition and it's now a normal save. WooHoo!

If you have the normandy ,ou can add it multiple times to your fleet you won't have it 8 times but the game will count it as 8

• Game Mode Explained: Expeditions are an alternate time-limited, season-like game mode with a set of challenges rewarding exclusive items that can be claimed in any and all of your saves, in any game mode account-wide. Someone recently put up a graphic that showed in theory how releases and expeditions work. I believe after this is over, there will be a new release of the game (version 3.99... I think??) my understanding was some time passes before the next release, then after the release is out X time, another expedition starts.

Not sure if it’ll help now, but you can just use the portal on a space station to travel to previous places you’ve visited. (If you’ve landed on that specific systems station) check pins for all the Rendezvous system names. Ignore me if this isn’t of help to you.

if you're at the r5 system and you stopped at the space station in r3, you can go to the space station in r5, use the teleporter to go to the r3 one, and then head to the right planet

No you can claim the expedition rewards from the quicksilver shop on any save but that's about it

the frigate upgrades are part of the expedition itself and not global reward items

Although that does give me an idea for a feature request. Would be nice to have a transfer box on the space anomaly that is account global so you could put items in there from any save and withdraw them from any other save on your account

so you claim the end phase and end expedition rewards on the one save, you can load in another save file, go to the quicksilver vendor on the anomaly, and you'll find a category there 'claim expedition rewards' which you can claim all those once per save file

the expedition save will convert to normal mode and you can just keep playing it if you like

last year, the first year they had expeditions, they reran 1-4 for two weeks each, adjusting the milestones to take less time. we don't know if they'll do something like that again this year or not

Aye, I have them too.
I had my 1st chr but I made the mistake on my first freighter, so rerolled. I used my 2nd to try out parts of the game and to get a better feel for it whilst looking things up online. My 3rd chr (I rolled the other day) is a none internet gameplay style, which means I’ve got to find all my ships and multi tools myself without the use of googling portal addresses etc.
I think the portals ruin the exploration imho. I know others may differ in their opinion but I’d rather plot my own course. It’s more immersive imho. 🙂

I think that the capes make it look too much like Destiny. I love Destiny but the play style is soooo different. I’d love a Destiny/NMS hybrid!! Destiny does combat great and then NMS could develop some for of exploration and building.

There’s a huge amount of bugs tbh. It does still feel very much like a beta game under development imho. A solid list of ideas but they need drastically padding out and building upon as well as sorting the huge amount of bugs ofc. The in game camera always makes my computer freeze and then I get a message saying NMS isn’t responding….

I opened a ticket I think.
Tbh there are so many issues (I’m playing on PC) that I don’t think it’ll be new information to them at this stage. Most mechanics look/feel like they need a huge overhaul. Combat is a joke imho. Ship combat… the enemy fly at me and barrel roll in front of me until they die. I seriously just try and hover on the spot and aim at them, even with multiple enemy ships! Ground combat is only a little different. Picking up the eggs that spawn those green aliens that chase you. As long as you keep moving (even running not punch rocket jumping) you seldom get hit. Against the sentinal you can just stand still and shoot them. Anything with a laser hurts but you just LOS them and take one at a time. If you get hurt, dig a hole and jump in it until recovered…. So I think reporting issues when it’s obvious that certain mechanics/gameplay is so basic (just ticking a box to say “we have combat”) and will need a complete overhaul. So fixing it will be a waste of time. A bit like valeting a car to take it to the scrappy. 😦

When these mechanics are fleshed out though, I’ve no doubt it’ll be great! 🙂
They just need to build meat on the framework now imho.
I hear the new patch built a lot on the freighters. I never experienced the older stuff, so I can’t comment on the difference it’s made.

It helps to check out the Nexus missions. Sometimes, it provides missions where you hunt down pirates :)

One of that gives you about 9 pirates, IIRC (different waves)

Summon the Anomaly > head to the Nexus.
It should be ready be unlocked early on for this expedition.

nah see here's the series of dumb events that caused my downfall:

1. I did not know what the freighter upgrades were for and I used them on cosmetics, completely unaware there was a tab for actual helpful upgrades for hyperdrive so my frieghter only has 200ly jump range
2. When I joined a friend who had just started the expedition to get the credit for the Hospitality milestone and I accidently summoned my freighter so i am back at the beginning I think?
3. When I reached the 2nd or 3rd rendezvous, I did not visit the station so I cannot jump there...

I have literally just spend the past few days just jumping from star to star over and over and over and over 🫠 I have so many storm crystals saved up for warp cores its not funny

I have every milestone done except for the log and rendezvous for 4 and 5 and the Singularity Engine thing

I was looking at permadeath, as it does sound very appealing but, the bag space would drive me crazy!! I hate how games make bag space such a chore. It takes me back to Vanilla WoW and the frustration of small bags. 😂
If I’m playing a game with housing, ships or something similar, I feel my bag space should be infinite on those but my character should be limited to a degree.
I agree, NMS seems great for the younger audience or perhaps disabled too. I love the graphics and this style is my go to tbh. Fortnite, WoW, Destiny all pull me in with their vibrant colour scheme and NMS is no different in that regard. I think if NMS hadn’t had a similar design, I would have dropped it by now, if I’m being honest. I’ve only been playing a couple of weeks so I’m still unlocking stuff and I hope to be doing more of the building side of things. Unlocking stuff via Expeditions is a good way to spend a day or 2. This is why I’m hoping that they bring ship building in too!! Unlocking Expedition only ship parts would be epic imho and at present it’s easy and accessible for all to enjoy. 🙂

I play perma exactly because limited inventory space. Dislike handling inventory but limited space forces me to deal with it and keep it tight

I love the range of difficulty in NMS. Sometimes I just want to chill and sometimes I’m up for challenging inventory management and combat and stuff :). Fun either way, but I don’t feel like I’m barred from progression by a lack of skill

I do agree, space is limited, although it does get better as you progress further into the game (storage units, inventory expansion, etc.).

Upgrades are really worth your time too, and they really come in handy, especially since you take more damage in PD. In Normal, I usually just ignore all the exosuit stuff and focus on the hyperdrive

I guess it's sort of why I like the Expeditions as well. The challenges really get you going, and if not for the rewards, then to see how the story unfolds.

I agree, inventory in NMS is very bad! We need to be able to stack things better when sending things to your banks. Being able to make some banks only collect certain things (like ores) would be great too. So when we move stuff to containers they go where we want it. Saying that I need to know/understand what items are still useful. I’ve a container full of relics that I’m not sure I’ll need ever again as I’ve not unlocked everything yet. I’m sure it’ll feel a little easier with experience.

You do, iirc it has a bracket around the card saying “optional” or something similar. I’ve got my card on the right but I’ve not completed that yet either. I just need freighter missions. I only learnt about these expends about 36hrs ago too. So it was a mad rush! 😂
I think the base visit only gave you 5mil, which is nothing tbh. That’s less than a stack of chlorine.

unfortunately it's every 5 warps and 3 hours for regular gameplay. but you can always go from space station to space station collecting pirate missions, they stack somewhat

though I guess that just gives you sus packets, no cargo bulkheads. the fast way to get those if you don't want to live the pirate life is to speed run easy derelicts

reuse the emergency broadcast receiver by using the personal refiner trick

run the same one a bunch of times and stock up

How to host a freighter visit from another player

Be in your freighter with player marker on.
Set Options->Network->Group joins to all.
When someone asks in the discord for a visit, dm the person your NMS friend code, and wait.
• Note that if both you and the visitor are on Playstation, the other player will send you a PSN invite to be a friend; accept it.
• DO NOT accept an invite to play together, it is not needed.
• A similar mechanism exists if both players are on Xbox, or both are on Steam.

How to be the visitor

Add the person's NMS friend code (Network->options->show friend list->add friend)
• Note that if both you and the host are on Playstation, you will get a prompt to invite them to become a PSN friend; do so
• DO NOT invite them to a PSN group or session, no need for this.

The navigator didn't refresh. I ended up having to cheese the final 2 missions I needed by altering the date/time on my PC.

no. there are 8 frigate missions you must send out; you can sendout only 5 a day, and they refresh at midnight utc (when the expedition ends). you could complete some phases though and get the rewards for them.

once it's reported, it will vanish for you, allowing you to get your stuff done

I’m just wondering when the next expedition starts. As exped 8 should be finishing in a few hours, will exped 9 start straight after? Or are there other activities between the expeditions?
I’m still learning the game and I’m still yet unsure of all of the different types of content available in game.

We don't know yet. We hope there'll be one sometime soon, in the next month or so. But only HG knows. I do recommend following our #nms-news-ticker channel and/or grabbing the NMS Announcements role in #roles to get notified about #nms-announcements

We'll have some form of update. But we don't know what will be in the update or when. Any predictions by the community are mostly guesses but we have to wait for HG to make official announcements to know what's coming and when exactly.

you can't continue it unfortunately. once the event ends, when you log into the save, it will force you to convert it to Normal mode and the Expedition tab along with all of the Phases and Milestones will be gone.

you may continue to play the save, however, but in Normal mode, not doing the Expedition milestones but the standard main questlines that you'd do in a new Normal save sort of thing.

only the Expedition items from the QuickSilver vendor at the Space Anomaly are exclusive to the expedition. there's been at least one item being one of the jetpacks that was exclusive to a past expedition that eventually became available again as a Twitch drop reward and i'm not sure if today you can purchase it for QuickSilver. but most of the other Expedition rewards are still exclusive to past and the current expedition.

there are other QuickSilver rewards you can earn with QuickSilver though. but not the Expedition ones. if you're on PC, you can try using a Save Editor (best described in #nms-modding - can check pins), to unlock Expedition rewards though.

That's best rule of thumb for all expeditions Something to keep in mind in the future. We try to post a decent amount of information in this channel's pins pretty early on, as some of our Emissaries like Apergos, get the expedition done early on, so other players know what to look out for.

Would be cool to see a quest in regular game to acquire the plans for singularity drive, like dreams of the deep storyline.

But with a freighter. Mini polestar.

Something like after you make 10 hyper jumps with your freighter your captain wants to talk with you about this fabled singularity drive.

Maybe the parts for it can only be acquired by sending out organic frigates on special discovery missions that you unlock through dialog with the captain

They pop into your frigate mission list as 5 star so you better have your best fleet ready
