Step 2: Land at the trading post and get to the highest point on the roof
Step 3: Place down a save beacon and save manually
Step 4: Wait for the ships to land, if your chosen ship isn't there, reload
Step 5: Repeat Step 4 until you find your chosen ship

Let me know if there's a more ideal method

If you're late into the game, there's no need to only look for s class

50k nanites from a to s is not that steep when you're far in

It often isn't worth it to wait for an s class when you can get nanites faster

(especially if you're like me and you keep stockpiles of tainted metal and upgrades around just in case)

storage augmentations are easy to stock up on if you remember to do your daily frigate missions, at some point you just cut them of fbecause too much stuff is too much stuff and where ar you going to put it

Really the most time consuming part of getting a good ship is finding the right model

Other than that, upgrading with nanites:

C to B costs 10k
B to A costs 25k
A to S costs 50k

If you didn't do it, your only (legit) chance would be to find a player willing to trade it off using the NPC trading exploit / glitch

Don't know if you're in here, but the save editor is very rarely used, and on an individual basis, for cheating. But consider this: progression is purely singular, which means no one having something they modded in with an editor will impact anyone else except the person. It is more used as a diagnostic and repair tool for looking at stats, advancing quests that have been soft-locked, and to restore the items of people who have lost their saves. To be clear, the developers don't "turn a blind eye", they just let it be, because the benefits outweigh the cons of having the tool. You also must realize that console players don't have access to the tools, so in short, there's really not a more funtional and welcoming server to be a part of for no man's sky. I'd just hate to see you leave on a misconception

I suspected it might also be the shenanigans with ship exchanging that some of us partake in, and the duping that others recommend. In other games those would be patched out. If there was a player market board or auction house or similar, it would obviously be an issue, but the only person you affect with these things is yourself. I think they'll have a hard time escaping that since I've yet to encounter a youtube channel that doesn't advocate for some form of chicanery. (Glitch building, for example, is still using glitches to get what you want.) At the end of the day my philosophy for any game is always going to be play the way you want to play, as long as it doesn't have a negative impact on another player. I'm sorry to see them go since I enjoyed the chatter, but if they're unhappy, it's for the best.

vykeen systems with tier 3 economy have the highest chance to spawn fighter s-class ships, so you mainly want to focus on those i guess.
you could also search online repositories like #explorers-archive or r/nmscoordinateexchange, looking for a ship that you like, and then portaling to star system/planet portal coordinates to get it

the class a ship spawns with is random: s-class fighters, 2% spawn chance in t3 systems

there's tons of solars in outlaw systems, but guaranteed first wave I haven't seen yet, all I can offer is that I saw x ship in x system currently, rest is rng... maybe nmsce people have had better luck with finding actual first waves

Fully modded (6xS Pulse engine mods, S class) Fighter ship has 2900u/s speed in space (Shift pressing). Solar C class outta box, unmodded, can go 2700u/s

Huge downside for me - while pretty and stuff, first person view is terrible - blocked by engines and sails. Maybe it's just the model of the ship I have currently

tbh i really really think they upped the spawn rate of the higher rank ships for the sailboats

agree, though have seen a lot of non-solar s-class and exotics in outlaw systems, I think the s-class rate is raised across the board in outlaw systems

instead of 2% in a t3 economy, outlaw economy probably more like 5-10%

I see way more s-class ships in general in outlaw systems than I have ever seen anywhere else

still rare but more medium-rare

2.5 mil max for s-class so far for me (bought 4)

also all my scans have topped out at 2.5 they don't seem to get cargo slot boosts to jack the price

so no 5-15mil range like exotics

30 ships, 5 ships per mission, 6 is the minimum, I like an extra

just for occasions I send out an extra mission depending on timing

rarely gets used but freighter is full of more space than you can ever use

I got farms on my freighter, it does everything

and everything is automatically powered, no running wires
