there are ways around that, i dont use any of the meta/oculus software basically. wired connection to PC via ethernet. People always ask if i get sick flying but not at all

when i started i was on a quest 2 w wifi, flying was not awesome. upgraded to a q3 and did a hack to convert power/data to ethernet and wire it directly to my network so I'm always streaming to the headset at 200+ mbps

actually gonna have to wait till later for glyphs, i cant break my restore point while im farming ships. if you kill it you get a freighter upgrade for your freighter. if you disable the engines and all of the weapons it will surrender and be offered to you free

usually you get a battle every 3 hours of gameplay plus 5 warp jumps. that battle can be a 5 pirate, 8 pirate, or dreadnought battle

And a wait on the glyphs is all good, my shift isn't over till 6 and I'll need to get my knife upgrades before I can kill anyways

The fastest way IMHO, derelict freighter have all sort of styles and duration, I got luck to find one that you just need to cross 2.5 room to access the computer giving both freighter tech and the cargo bulkhead taking ~1 minute give or take. Rinse and repeat.
Some derelict are huge, others have those little monsters and all, try to find a small one which it displays 7 rooms, the big ones display 12 rooms.

Still new so learning stuffs. Also, I went back to same location today and it was there AGAIN! What's the deal with Explorer ships? The firespray body has the crosshairs go through the body which makes it hard to aim, the regular bodies have issues where the thruster trails are misaligned...

the 3rd one is clutch, it moves the corvette teleporter closer and to the other side (in the hangar) so you dont have to turn around and maneuver around the tele pad to get to the corvette

also they add functionality, like you can scrap/upgrade ships from your freighter

I've mainly been using a sentinel ship. The hover ability is nice on some planets.
Made up a corvette for farming resources and refining on the fly, but it always clips into my bases or feels awkward to fly. I think it will take them a while to polish out all the bugs for those.

Yes, you need to warp away and back to trigger the battle, though you should warp away using your freighter or to an uncharted system so that it doesn't begin a battle while warping away, and you must have the freighter battle cooldown prepared for it (3 hours of unpaused gameplay time and 5 warps since your last battle)

It's a really nice to have thing but the big problem is that it's impossible to transfer to the main save. You cannot transfer packaged technology to other players, I tried, doesn't work. So that will be sitting in the Polestar save file. The only way we ever get that on the main save is if Hello Games decide to do a redux of Polestar so that we can play it from the main save and then be able to transfer it properly.

1/301 of all piloted starships are exotic ships, and 1/20 of those designs are squid ships

the trick is to set up a save beacon at a trade post. save/reload after each initial wave of 4-6 ships land to speed up by a lot. theres also a method to identify the system exotic fast so you're not sitting there for an hour if you're squid hunting

That upgrade improves your maneuverability. It’s heavily recommended that you get maneuverability upgrades so that you can turn better. But it’s up to you on how fast and agile you turn.

Flying a ship in no man's sky is more like driving a car in a 3D space. Less simulation and more arcade.

The drift upgrade takes away a lot of it's assisted arcade style flying and puts more control in the pilot's hands.

I probably didn't notice the difference so much but sentinel ships do respond a little better anyways, and it was an upgrade over the starter ship. The corvette handles like a city bus regardless so can't compare that.

guys i need some clarification on the charged slots on a ship. the only combination where the main skill is connected to 3 other charged slots is in picture 2, right? on 1 and 3 the main skill (green circle) is only connected to 2 slots (yellow line) and not directly connected to the blue one, correct? so in terms of min maxing, the only best spot would be the form in picture 2 ?

Yes that picture correct, picture 2 have one tech with 3 connector but other only 1. In terms of min max it will be lose to picture 3 as they have four with 2 connector

If the core technology is more important than the upgrade modules, yes. But in most cases, the upgrade modules are more important so a square is better

So far only ships I've had the SC slots have been scattered around so just used each one for its own category. (Like 1 weapon, shield, hyperdrive, ect.)
Not min/maxed but obviously very capable of handling anything the game tosses your way.
The 4 slots together look best for picking 1 thing to boost to the extreme (like a weapon) and leave the rest as basic.

So I guess in my case wasn't really concerned about it.

There are special machines littered on their surfaces called Dissonance Resonators, they have a 1/5 chance to drop an item that allows you to locate a Harmonic Camp, which is a place that can be used to locate sentinel ship crash sites

They have different tech than regular ships but the upgrades work with them.

Unfortunately grey is the rarest color for sentinel ships (and most other things) to have, so it may be very unlikely. The closest I have are these

And know that ship class is based on crash site, so you could find an S-Class of any ship design with enough searching within the same star system, or just upgrade one manually using Nanites

if you find curious deposits, build a base there, keep coming back and in no time you will have nanites to spare. Wish I knew that before, now I upgrades my corvette to S, and im recovered on nanites again

The Starborn Runner was only available from Expedition 12: Omega and the Starborn Phoenix was only made available for a week through a free Steam DLC. Can you reroll the supercharged slots of an exotic by reloading the save or is there only one model per star system?

Find a system with dissonance detected where it otherwise says water. Then explore the planet that says dissonant or whatever until you find a giant corrupt sentinel thing mining. Kind of like a giant syringe. Kill those til you find a harmonic resonator and 1 of the other things, can'trememberthe name but it looks like a mini of what youjustkilled. Use that resonator and it will show you a camp. Should be able to follow the prompts from there

I would place a save beacon at the camp I'm case you want more than 1 of that model ship trying for S class or just farming ships to scrap for solid units

They have different core technology that uses different things to recharge, like Radiant Shards and Pugneum. They can hover in-place in-atmo, and have the highest in-atmo speeds of all starship types. Their handling works completely differently to all other starships, turning much slower when at a standstill but turning very fast while boosting

the story is almost like a big tutorial that shows you mostly the most important things of the game so you after do kinda what you want knowing what to go for. Also explains the lore of the game, which for me is pretty interesting.
The first 30-40 hrs for me was the same as you, doing main missions just every now and then. Then I decided to finish the main campaign, then you meet the autophages, and then is mostly free explore and plan your own journey

See if you can avoid reloading the save, the game has mechanic that are triggered after x events like

Dreadnought Pirate Freighter Class-S within pirate controlled system only took me 40min each encounters (3) to spawn, folks reloading their save are taking 1-3h without crossing it.

Utilise trade outposts as they have no set ships in their waves, land at an outpost but don’t have your ship on one of the pads.

Make a save using a save beacon/point or enter then exit your ship, wait for the first wave to fly in, if you don’t see the squid reload restore point, do this until a squid lands.

Kinda but not really. Exotic ships are a 1 in 301 chance to spawn when any ship spawns in inhabited systems. Each star system has one exotic ship design. 1/20 of those exotic ship designs are squid ships.

I crossed 3x class-s Dreadnought S25-13 with 40min each, the first one took 37min
I fight it, get the 7M units and 400 nanites, warp to a non-pirate system next door, then warp back, repeat, I never reload the save.
That within different systems Vykeen, Geek and Korvax although I find it extremely hard to find Korvax pirate system that does trigger the Dreadnought

to be clear, 40min to cross a S25-13 freighter from the moment you started following above

Gotcha, so your taking 40mins of farming for that freighter to be S. I assume the 25-13 is the slot count?

Either or, Reloading or warping back is honestly up to the user, you can abuse the reload for any battle as it would just rely on the player making that restore point prior to the warp that would trigger the battle, the warp out and in you would need to guarantee that system doesn’t require the calmative playtime and warp prerequisites, personally if it’s a pirate freighter I like the latter as much as you do.

But I should also point out that just because one mechanic requires a player to have a certain prerequisites doesn’t mean that it’s the same for another, squid ships/exotics do not require these same prerequisites but are simply based on a probability the player can just assist in speeding up wave spawn.

Oh yeah, the actual "taking it down" takes only 2min30sec on my sentinel and 1min on my corvette with cyclotron at 47k DPS
Antimatter is the easiest thing to get in the game, antimatter reactor at base will give you 20x every 1h IIRC from that to warp cell is nothing since antimatter housing cost "nothing" making warping the least thing I care in the game.

antimatter housing: 30x oxygen + 50x ferrite dust
Unless you are fresh into the game, those resources should be the least of your worries

All freighters have only 9 landing pads and 2 corvette landing spots. This does not affect how many starships you can store, you can always have 12 starships at any time, with an extra 18 in your Starship Archive

Just keep in mind that leaving all 12 outside will make some to disappear coz of NPC ships require landing pads.
So if you cannot see a broken ship, use the computer at the bridge to store things and even after that, you will need to take off, summon the freighter to update the parked ships.

If you wanna make "free ship" hunting less painful, use the submarine, nautilus IIRC. You get its blueprint at the Anomaly station.
Jump to a 3 stars economy system, find a planet with water and use the submarine, there is a dedicated "find drowned ships", jump back to your ship and go to the crashed ship.
On the planets can be frustrating, NPC around, or no ship at all

Yes the Nautilon chamber (geobay) can be purchased from the anomaly, The high powered sonar would also need to be purchased to locate anything with the sub.

Alternatively you can influence the result from the emergency charts (distress) purchasable from any cartographer on a space station. There are 5 types of distress signals the charts can locate in a system, if you use a map to locate all them (by spamming use until all 6 markers are visible) and only visit the crash ship (that has no NPC) marker you can effectively use maps to only give you crashed ships.

This is because maps will not detect the same distress signal if one is already displayed in the system, so just spam maps until you only have the correct crash site active.

The only one you cannot miss is the crashed freighter, it actually tells you it is a freighter

Sonar is a Nautilon blueprint, not a exosuit.

Hence why you use the maps to show all 5 markers, if you land at a distress beacon site and it has an NPC the other distress beacon will not have an NPC, head to the correct site, if landing at the other marker was removed just use the map again to show the NPC marker, this way you know that any new marker afterwards will be the one you want.

I don't even try anymore, I just use the submarine and slowly stopped doing that also

I would say this is a similar confirmation bias as the previous statement on freighter class.

The confirmation of this may also come from the fact that during multiple quests new players would play through there are scripted locations that have a crashed ship that won’t have an NPC.

Procedural location markers aren’t manipulated by the players playtime in this instance.

Either way two options are better than one, I personally dislike the additional time the sub adds when ship hunting.
