Depends on the ship. If it's any normal type or an exotic, just sit at a trading post. If sentinel, farm dissonance resonators and find harmonic camps to locate the ships. If living ships, make sure you've done the quest for your first one, and just spam use void eggs.

IMO, the hauler may not be as nimble in combat as fighters, but they more than make up for this in high shields. Essentially, tanks that can take the abuse. That is just my view, what you choose to fly comes down to your own style of play and what makes you happy!
I too would love to hear what type of ship others use for piracy. 😀

Brace yourself with plenty of time and patience. Finding a natural S class in the wild can be tedious, just be ready for it. Even the best odds at 5% means most of your time will be flooded with C class ships. Fwiw, you can always use nanites to upgrade to S class instead.

You can always carry around enough nanites to upgrade an interceptor you like at the local systems’ station to see what it’s sc slot layout ends up. If you don’t like what you see, you reload the restore point and then move on.

I mean you can kinda have a good guess, interceptor SC slot layout is printed per site. when you upgrade the ships class, it becomes seeded.

So for two different ship sites, one's A class, the other C class, in the same system. the first 3 SC slots of the A class may be anywhere, but the 4th sc slot will be in the same position as the C class ship will be.

Fun fact. Memory fragments were added as a unique element to expedition 7: Levitation, later the standard memory fragment (with no class assigned) was added as a loot item from interacting with traveller graves, the ones in question are memory fragments (class) which upgrade the class of your current equipped multitool or ship.

There are a total of 8 memory fragments not obtainable in game and requires save editor, or if the player had kept theirs from exp 7, tho the class fragment was not used in the expedition as a reward.

Things are cool I use them for pretty much the same that @pulsar temple or for ship trading.

Hi everyone! I am having some issues trying to farm for a Venator freighter. I know about the three hours and five warp rules, and I believe a pirate controlled system is what I should be aiming for? When I enter the system how exactly should I proceed? I thought that simply reloading my last restore save and warping again would work but it seems not to. Also, finding the system again in the galaxy map is difficult. Thanks in advance for any tips!

Below is a guide on how to duplicate a ship using the expedition terminus.

Note.

• This duplication method exploits how ships are tracked when stored in cold storage, By exploiting the storage system, players can theoretically duplicate ships to a limit of up to 18
• The guide will label the ship the player wants to duplicate as the Target Ship

Prerequisites.

• An expedition must be currently active.
• Player must have at least 1 space available in their saves cold storage.

Guide

————Preliminary————

Step 1. Enter the anomaly on the save with the Target Ship you can swap ships by using the quick menu (Down on the D-pad or X on Keyboard) > Summon Vehicles > Switched Docked Ship and selecting the Target Ship

Step 2. Start or Resume the expedition via the Expedition Terminus while the Target Ship Is selected.

Step 3. Copy the Target Ship at some point during the expedition, you will need 2,800 Nanites to copy the ship and you will need to be able to access the Anomaly.

Step 4. Complete all expedition milestones, once completed do not interact with the expedition terminal in the anomaly. Ensure the Target Ship is your current ship.

Step 5. Return to Primary Save, Do not interact with the expedition terminus, instead go to Options > Return to Primary Save

Step 1. Once returned to your primary save, place the Target Ship in your freighters Cold storage.

Step 2. Return to the anomaly and interact with the expedition terminus, you can now copy over the Target Ship from the expedition save.

Step 3. For multiple duplicates you will need to place the Target Ship Copy in cold storage, and then return to the anomaly and copy the ship again, repeating this you can copy a max of 18 Target Ships as long as there is room to place all copies in cold storage.

Each system has tied exotic ship model. 301:1 spawn chance, except systems without npc. And 20:1 that exotic will be a squid.

technically there is a system where 80% of the ships are stricly identic, same parts, same colors, same decals ect....
That same system could have 5 identical planets, with similar lifeforms and biomes
Unless, HG made it so the game won't generate the same stuff, but i'll doubt it, i've seen geek systems where all of the haulers had the ball cargo pods despite being of different colors and shapes overall

Still possible via the old method, exchange ship for a random NPC ship, NPC will then occupy the ship intended on being traded, other player can now claim the ship by interacting with the NPC.

As far as I know each expedition have 1 rerun, but sometime (for ex. Xmas) there can be reruns of older expeditions, that's how I got the Normandy despite it being a very old expedition

It will be a 5 enemy freighter battle spawn. I'm assuming you are on Steam PC as well. 1st wave implies that it is a 1st wave after a reload, which this is not.

On Steam PC during a 5 ship freighter battle, an exotic is guaranteed to spawn and then land at the station

Exotic spawn is 0.33%, which means it shows up less than 1% of the time when you visit station or trade post. So pack a lot of patience and units!

They can go for up to 42million ish. Everytime an exotic spawns, the amount of inventory slots and thus price will be random. What I mean is next time that exotic spawns it could be 18million, or it could be 42 million. There is no fixed price

Each set of glyphs are specific to a galaxy. Those glyphs above will just be a rando world in a galaxy that you teleporter (Euclid)

Can anyone help confirm a theory I have?
I've been farming Sentinel ships as they are my favourite. It's my theory which I haven't done a lot of testing on but I think that most planets I visit will only supply one style of ship than to get a different style I will have to visit one of the different planet to get a different type.
Is this correct or just not enough data taken yet?

Each system has one model interceptor (if we don’t count the police model) if you want a different model you will need to go to a new system.

Interceptor class chance is the same percentage chance as any normal ship, it depends on economy level of the system.

You can upgrade the class in a space station at a starship outfitting terminal

When in the galaxy map note the stars next to the economy type, this indicates the level.

A squid, the rarest spawn of the exotic ship category. Finding a squid without trying is exceptionally lucky. You might not see another one ever again, or get lucky again! 😃

For context, every inhabited system has an exotic ship type assigned to spawn there, and that is set at 0.33% chance which is less than 1%. I could be wrong, but my understanding is the squid is even thinner chance from that baseline, though I forget the number.

@dim trail I hunt sentinels, as it's my thing too...from what I gather different areas of any said galaxy has its own variant, so how I hunt is based of black holes that I jump through. I noticed based on the view of the galaxy map that each side of the galaxy map has a completely different version then the others In the current sector that your in, if this makes sense to you.

This is a sentinel interceptor, a category of ship found on dissonant planets. Finding this “exact” ship as in the image will require system glyphs ( the series of symbols) associated with the discoveries you’ll find in this channel. Each system that has dissonance will have only one type of interceptor assigned.
There are similar shaped interceptors like your friend’s on other dissonant planets. Just do a search on this channel for interceptor and peruse the images.

You need an echo locator to locate a harmonic camp. Then you can reuse that camp to farm that one type of interceptor.

If you ever come across the ai fragment, this will allow you to find interceptors without the harmonic camp. But one thing at a time…use the echo locators first to get a feel for that experience. Good luck!😀

Pirate frigates have decent rounded stats, meaning they can engage in all four expedition missions (combat, trade, science, exploration).

While regular frigates usually have only one of those specialties with high stats

When hiring, scan all of them and see which one appeals to you most. Some frigates start with negative penalties, try to avoid those as they take time to remove the penalties. Sending them out on missions removes the negatives.

The ones with negatives have a higher chance of sustaining damage during missions.

Landing an S class freighter is especially satisfying since freighter class cannot be upgraded, unlike MT, and starships, but in the end class is not as important as enjoying playing with what you have. If you like the look of it, that is satisfying enough.

always pick up c class frigates they have a higher stat potential when they level up than a natural s class frigat. you can also look up nms frigate calculator to see if the base stats are good

You can only salvage Fighters, Haulers, Explorers and Solar ships for parts, when you salvage select the “extract customisation module” from there you select the component you want extracted.

At the very basic level palming a ship off to another player is just utilising a random NPC and their ship that lands in the station.

You exchange your ship (the ship you want to trade) for the NPC ship, this then populates your ship with an NPC pilot allowing the other player to buy the ship.
