You're fine, I think I got a general idea for what colors spawn on ships. What colors do you like in general?

There's no true black for ships, there is a chrome though that can resemble black, purple, and dark shades of other colors

I love a dark color and a light color

magenta and orange for example, I mentioned earlier

but really anything would pass

Blue energy shields are the rare part, not the balls themselves. Less than 1 in 500 Hauler models get the energy shields - for perspective, Squid Exotics are about 1 in 40 models, so even when you compare based on the total number of Hauler models available per Exotic, Squids are more common.

Starship? You can wait for waves of ships to land in the space station. The one you want should eventually show. The class will be RNG. So farming the class you want may take some time. I tend to wait 2 waves and reload the save. But I'm not sure if it makes much difference.

Oh and when farming a starship, it's best if you play solo and disable Multiplayer in your Network settings. While in group or in an MP lobby, starships may despawn unexpectedly.

You go into photo mode, and the symbols to get to the planet will be in the bottom left. As for exact coords, you go into first person mode in your ship and you can see it on one of the panels to the left-ish

from what i've seen, since you can find them at all tier levels with roughly the same consistency, it'd probably be best to just try to grab an A or S class one, they'll all rank up regardless over time but even the S tier ones still start at 'level 1' and can gain a lot of stats over time, they also can't get negative traits and since you can feed them different food to cycle their stats i'd say just finding natural S tier ones is probably the most important

I will say I don't tend to take stats and what not very seriously, but all the high class organics i've gotten are pretty strong stat wise and even the c class ones I recruited are still decent enough

looks like 65 total stats is the highest i've got in my roster so far

although that one does have 2 traits into fuel cost reduction (15 and 6) so it could be better if I cycled foods to find which were the best for raw bonuses

As for the cap, I dont think a single stat can exceed 50, and total stats including traits should cap at 140.

Thats a little bummer. Since my normal frigates are around 45ish abd hunting just for 3 -5 more points is maybe not worth it

And i fought if all perks and food fill focus one stat with perfect frigate maybe it is posible to reach 100 on one stat

Are there any tricks to get more shuttles to convert to solars in regulated systems?

Got coords for a solar ship from the Creative Hub, went to that system, camped at various trading outposts

I saw only 1 model of solar repeating over multiple reloads and sadly that was not the one I was looking for

Do i have to hunt for crash sites for shuttle ships and hoping those would convert?

@split breach The Solar conversion isnt a roll based on probability, it's a procgen probability - the system seed is what determined which ships were converted.

So if you think of the ship seeds as having a specific order, with Shuttles being #1-7 in regulated systems:
10% of system seeds converted Shuttle #1 to Solar
10% of system seeds converted Shuttle #2
10% of system seeds converted Shuttle #3, etc...

The same system seed can fall into more than one of those groups, but only about 1 in 100 hits on 2 Shuttles, only 1 in 1000 hit 3

No, Mjstral's algorithms recreate the seedgen process, as well as the solar conversions, so the Solar you seek IS in that system, you just havent seen it yet. Unless you see all 21 ships, (or 20 ships without spotting the exotic), you arent guaranteed to find your Solar. Only if you see all of those and none is the Solar can you say you have evidence the bot mess3d up.

Not wrong, just unlucky. Find a Trading Post with clear sight lines in all directions and no other outpost or archive within render distance.

Drop a save beacon, so you can save and reload after seeing the first wave of ships that spawn and verifying your Solar isnt among them

The thing with bot finds vs player finds is that the bot doesn't consider spawn order. Player found ships are often in the first waves and few people wait for all ships to appear. Since the bot just recreates all 21 ships from billions of systems without regarding spawn order it can happen a ship is hidden inside the last spawn wave. But it's still 100% accurate 😉

Best layput is 4 sc slots in box or T shape. In that way you make one tech really op like 100k + dps infra knife

In terms of tech itself . What you like the most. Meta right now is infra knife,

cyclotron balista is also good imo

weapons wise if you don't yet have many good upgrade modules its a good idea to have 2 weapons, one that's good vs shielded and one that's good vs un-shielded enemys

once you have a ship with decent SC slot layout and some s/x upgrades it doesn't really matter as you will melt through most ships defenses with any weapon (except maybe the rocket launcher thats not really upgradable)

My current ship has only 80 damage potential in stats (explorer so base was really low) but photon cannon just melts any targets even without being in SC slot (have blueprint upgrade and +3 S-class upgrade modules tho).

when i start fresh i like to use phase beam for shields and then switch to rocket launcher to finish them off in the very early game. in the mid game i use cyclo vs shield and infra to finish.
then late game its just upgraded infra

I was sitting in a Euclid outlaw station last night watching ships. After second wave, majority of the ones coming in were solar. Saw 1 S class that I didn't like, majority were C though. Didn't go there for hunting so not sure about economy level.

Chances of spawning ships are 85/5/5/5 for C/B/A/S classes respectively

There are a couple ways. If you have the money to buy, go to the station or a trade station on a planet. You can buy the ships that land in the station/trade station from the pilots

If you don't have the money, you can purchase charts. It's better to ask this question in #nms-questions

@silent bison THing to remember, buy the ship you like. Even if it's cheap. You'll be able to upgrade it later. Any ship can be good enough at everything

Each inhabited system has a collection of 21 starship models of various types

What you bought was one instance / copy of one of these starships

Game will spawn it again in your game

As it will for other players in their games

It's all procedurally generated for each player in their instance of the game

Basically. Just go shoot asteroids till you get an anomaly detector. Then pulse till it give your the frigate message.

I think the torpedo tips make only 1 type of paint option available and that screws with it

Yes the torpedo tips are the issue. which is stupid imo. Why tips are bined to body color palete and why hg cant just add full palete to all ? My guess is because torpedo tips are always black/chrome and cant be painted so hg got rid of it but they forgot about off color on rest of ship parts. Found full white with tristar tips few months ago but with red sails.

It’s all lighting. They’re usually chrome, or dark grey

Sometimes a combination of both

Here’s a good example, very similar explorer in Hicanpaav. You can see how it’s not black but depending on lighting, time of day, it’ll look black (but it isn’t).

Pink and white also works I'm mostly in it for actual pink ships most of the time it just looks red

The only ships I've seen with the bright pink is the most common ships but never like solars or fighters and idk of you can even get pink living ships

Especially with solar ships a single color is possible and very cool to find.
Black is a color in NMS and a lot of ships can have black or be black. With solar ships specifically its not possible to find Sold dark black. But shades of black and grey are possible.
