Not all creatures can be tamed for creature IDs like flyinglizards and flyingsnakes you require a mod or save editor to have them as a pet, but these can be traded if the player has an egg of these creatures.

Both those IDs are able to be interacted with to obtain an egg, just not to tame them from the wild in a vanilla game.

No, you can’t mix model assets from one creature ID with another, only assets of the same ID type.

You can have multiple assets of the same ID in the one creature but this is can’t be generated in the vanilla game but you can do this with a save editor.

For a visual example Eagle and dragon mix have two wing types on the one creature, and both of the worm mix have multiple head and body assets.

Regardless of what is used a creature can only feature model assets of the same ID.

Using the sequencer in the anomaly you can change how the creature behaves and how it looks in terms of colour and model, but typically these factors are random, colour can be influenced as the same creature type typically has the same palette so using the same material will yield the same colour on the same creature.

For save editing you can edit the raw JSON of these creatures, this allows you to specifically change certain parts of the creatures model to a different asset with precision if you know what each model parts is labeled as.

As an example save editing would allow you to alter the head of a creature to the head type you want without changing any other aspects, whereas with the egg synthesiser the model would be random with each material variant.

To answer another part of the question, a save editor is an external program that allows you to alter aspects of your save game, it allows the player to do things from adjust seed values, change damage values, add or reduce slots/sc slots to messing with JSON.

A save editor can use any save you like you don’t need to create one just for it, tho I would suggest it if unfamiliar with save editing and definitely suggest it if editing JSON.

They can’t be tamed in the vanilla game, these are created with a save editor, alternatively there is a mod that allows creature taming of creature types that normally can’t be tamed.

Once they are a pet both the flyinglizard and flyingsnake ID can induce eggs which can be gifted, alternatively their creature data can just replace an existing creature egg via a save editor

There's two "modes" that they can be in, the one that makes them dive into the ground is when they have the correct "FlyingLizard" creature type, and the one that makes them able to fly extremely fast and high enough to avoid the ground is when they have the wrong CreatureType assigned, it's really weird

I think this is the only creature that even cares about the "CreatureType" thing, but not sure

The sequencer will only change attributes in that creature’s specific ID, it won’t say make a Rex into a bird.

These changes are randomised based on the material used, colours can be predicted just depends on material and creature ID.

The specific creature you are replying to, is created with a save editor, it cannot be tamed or made in the vanilla game.

A “Restore point” save is made by whenever you exit your ships cockpit or made when you interact with a save point or beacon, they can also be made by interacting with random planetary waypoints that are identified as structures.

Your autosave is made every min or by doing certain actions like obtaining items from players or by initiating pulse for a short time.

You would need to use a save editor to create the same model, it would be unlikely that any worms secondary seed is the same.

You can definitely still obtain them tho, players that are able to save edit or use a mod can induce and egg or make that creature an egg to gift to others, if you want happy to make you a creature you want.

Mods can enable this, but they are fundamentally very broken as companions

There are also flying worms which are actually implemented as companions, just not adoptable from the wild, only originally awarded from an expedition

You could receive a companion egg of any companion from another player though and hatch it for yourself

Adjusting the scale of the Flyingsnake ID via JSON would allow the same size as ones you see hopping in and out of terrain. Neither sandworm or Flyingsnake would ever behave like the ones you see planet size.

Both ID have the same models. Sandworm just has the bone worm model.

You can save edit a save from your PS4 either via save wizard or using the cross save function to access the save on your pc.

Either option works, the save editor will allow you to crudely create these and have them as a pet.

Flyinglizard type is a bit wonky but some behaviour can be mitigated by changing the creature type to something like Flyingsnake, but regardless if you sprint while riding the pet it will always dive into the ground.

If the creature is only clipping when sprinting that will be the issue, if it isn’t then I can definitely adjust the pet by changing the type.

You actually can sprint in short bursts, but mainly for using mountainous terrain as ramps for gaining altitude. Not for speed, they're already really fast. Gotta cancel sprint before you come back down because they're so fast the game has trouble rendering the ground beneath you 😅

As an fyi, size and creature type will mainly play a factor in why these clip through terrain, size dictates speed and height above terrain while creature type mostly their flight behaviour.

Any flyinglizard over 1m will tend to clip below terrain when sprint is used as they dive, this worsens the bigger you go. below 1m and you could get away with continuous sprinting but even with that you’ll be skimming the terrain, better to just change the creature type to something like Flyingsnake where the diving is null until you sprint.

Any flyinglizard lizard obtained with the companion pet unlocker and not altered via JSON after, it’s safe to say these won’t function in the players interest and will just dive.

Oh, I know. ^^ I don't own a PC, but I spend most of my time in game riding them. The ones straight from creature creators skim the ground and they're quite slow. Definitely not ideal. Ours are already edited and most of them are between 1m-5.6m. The 1m ones are usually an unfortunate side effect of people trying to make them larger in the sequencer lol I've seen larger, but they're way more difficult to control so we don't bother breeding them usually to keep them as user-friendly as possible. 👍

Gotcha, I tend to find 5m the happy medium for trading, given the creature type is changed from flyinglizard to Flyingsnake, if a player wants it smaller any size alterations in the sequencer will reduce it to their intended size cap of 1m

A bit of fiddling in a save editor and they will be user friendly 😉

My favorites are 3m and 4m just because I like to use sprint to ascend when I can get away with it. The 5.6m one can get above cloud level off of the right incline lol It's harder to judge how long it will take for them to adjust their flight angle at that size though because it takes them longer and they're less responsive to the terrain. Couple that with their increased speed/mass and it's no wonder they nosedive at a certain point. If you can't see minerals and flora as you fly, you're going too fast lol

I feel like I've been hunting diplos for a while, and I can give a few tips to those people that wanna hunt for themselves. So here's what I experienced when trying to find them, and what I recommend:

1- I don't recommend going to green systems. From what I've experienced, most of the times these have dead planets or only flying creatures if they have fauna.

2- red inhabited systems, for some reason, have given me a good amount of the diplos I have. I'd recommend checking those out from time to time while looking in yellow systems most of the time.

3- blue systems are a bit of a gamble, although you might find some good systems. Your call, honestly.

4- I don't recommend going for systems that have less than 4 planets. I don't know why, those have given me very bad results and have lowered my ratio severely. Basically, I'm guessing you're lowering your chances or rolls for more fauna.

I think that's pretty much it. If anyone's willing to Diplo hunt, hope this helps!

Personally I just upload the cool ones I run into normally, technically I have "enough" of each biome already.
Right now I'm super busy cataloging a bunch of planets from when I first started playing the game, partly to see the differences and upload them all (the "upload all" button was scary back when we couldn't rename things) and partly just to find them again since many I only have in the form of screenshots or bases in nearby systems

If anything I need to document things that I would normally not, which would be more planets with storms/aggressive sentinels. And also find each variety of planet imagineable without storms or sentinels

I realized while setting up fishing bases that I definitely don't have enough planets with regular storms
