Thanks! I just think current sentinel freighters are boring because you just shoot their weapons and run.
I would love to see the economy of a system grow over time I know it’s probably not going to be a thing but it would be nice to see

basic issue with stuff like that is that no info about particular systems is recorded either locally or on their servers. every time you jump in it's procedurally generated. I would love for that to happen because it would open up so much increased depth to the simulation but it would probably require a lot of work on their part

In fact, if you’re weighing “tedious but easy”against “fast but difficult” you’d actually be able to strike a nice balance and make both options equally viable for different play styles

Honestly I just want a trading update, I wanna be able to explore galaxies while selling my wares ( kinda similar to the GameCube harvest moons, where you could set up shop, and People make offers on products) or maybe you could buy a shop in some space stations, that you have to stock and it accumulates money over time, where different species like different items
Maybe they introduce special obtainable items that are made to sell in shops? Or it’s a new building thing, like the outposts
May be too complicated, but I always loves the trading options, and mercantile ones
This and settlements need to be heavily updated so that you can AT LEAST feel like you are even in charge of it. It's so limited and the time and resources aren't in anyway worth the investment to maybe get 100-300k daily in real time.
I always wanted something like this for the traders that land at your base landing pads. Set up auto-buy and auto-sell parameters and get some automated trading going. Right now there's no point for traders landing at your base, they just take up space and make noise
I hope living stuff would be expanded. At least it isn't abandoned

Ship customization. You find a crashed ship and salvage it at the space station you unlock a bp for that wing/body style. It would be cool seeing some of the crazy combos people come up with. Recolred ships like we can with the freighters. Just more ways to customized everything. Other than that keep up the great work. Absolutely love this game.
I think that would somewhat take out the excitement/satisfaction of finding a cool looking ship.
You would have to find it though first and just to implement it into a ship could cost nanites like a large amount so it would take some grinding to get what you want

Maybe it could be implemented into the scrapping mechanic. When you scrap a ship, there's a chance you can get an "upgrade" component for the wing or engine style or whatnot.

Why can't the most expensive and impressive in-game vessel, that's usually accompanied by a fleet, not be able to scan where it's going ahead of time?
The excitement doesn't have to go away if you still need to hunt cool ships to get the parts you want in the first place.
If anything, it adds to the reason to be out there hunting at trading posts and space stations, etc.
I think there's a super amazing middle ground HG can reach if we need to collect/farm for the parts we want

replaying 'trace of metal' got me thinking about how i would probably really enjoy an update like Atlas Rises, where one of the main, headline features was a giant blob of story. preferably with a more interesting mission structure than that atlas rises storyline has, but still. there's a ton of story threads that seem to be converging on something. the Abyss, the Glass, the impersonators, whatever. i'd just like to see these threads go somewhere, for once 🥲

yeah it's starting to feel like HG no longer wants to push forward the central story, but instead just kind of dabble in these side narratives. maybe they're waiting for a big update that significantly changes the universe where they can tie the story to

I would say about the ships: Change color whenever you want, but for changing parts some kind of griniding process, like scanning other ships, scrapping the ones you find...

Some idea for ship crafting/building.
Scraping ships could give part schematics and "paint bucket" Chance for ship parts should be rng, like for getting ship inv. upgrades etc. Each ship part should reqire materials to make, and scrap from salvageable planets etc. Plants/bio materials for crafting paint buckets. One paint bucket for one of three colours on one ship part (main color, secondary, accent) Buildings for crafting and scraping ships for parts should be found on planets like other buildings you find on planets.

Although I'd like to be able to walk around the inside of your ship and do things, it might also be nice (and more achievable) to have a search/rename in the teleporter, and/or a player market
also as a nice corollary, it would also be nice if Hyperdrive fuel usage correlated to the distance that you travelled
There's no reason why jumping 50 LY costs the same amount of fuel as jumping 500
there should be antimatter base parts with nothing different except they explode when you place them

they're using similar chips between Mac and iPad now so it makes sense. the main hurdle would be the touch interface of the iPad

I feel that NMS should get a new hazardous planet. My idea is to make a Psychedelic hazard. Where if your out of hazard protection, your visor starts to hallucinate what you previously looked at.
And it gets worse the more you leave it empty

Was brought up forever ago and would like to suggest it again: gyro aim support for consoles. Would seriously be beneficial for this game to improve aiming controls dramatically for building, combat, and all other aspects. I much prefer gyro aim since its way more intuitive (once you get good with it) and i know theres quite a decent size community that would appreciate this for improved accessibility. Wish it just became a standard at this point honestly.
Also a way to remap controls. Cannot stand some of the current mapping for controllers.
Honestly all I want out of nms right now this moment is to be able to fly a rainbow flag at my base. Or like, lil rainbow sticker decals. That's the sum of what I wish for.
Hopefully they release a big update just by seeing so many new platforms getting the game.

Anomalous hazard will make you experience glitches
the problem is the same thing all the exotics have -- they seem cool for 5 minutes and then you never really want to go back. because if you have some visual glitch or floating crystals or electric storms or whatever, the whole planet is just that. the homogeny of it makes it boring
in addition, all the weird stuff for the most part doesn't offer anything different in terms of gameplay

I have a feeling with all of the recent announcements of NMS coming to different platforms that we may get a cross save update with 4.0
I really hope so. I think I prefer playing on PS5 with the haptic feedback but my main save with the most time is on Xbox. I would at least love to be able to switch between the different platforms and continue with the same character.
Cross save would be phenomenal, I'm really hoping they would implement a profile system and give more to in game civs, I made a reddit post about it a long while ago but I'll see if I can find it

Here’s a cool idea that I think would suit the direction the games going; when you explore a freighter in space there could be a chance that corrupted sentinels are searching it too, little dog fight in space and then fighting them in the freighter, maybe a named one at the end to spice things up a bit

Well I've been speculating that they got to add some type of account or at the very least cross-save system once the Mac and iPad versions come out.
It's hard to imagine someone buying the game from app store and going through a few expeditions as well as progressing a main save but then be locked on mobile device only
also existing players wouldn't have much of a reason to buy the game on mobile if they couldn't take their progress over there

Exactly, the cross save feature is the gateway and then once they are ready to add cross save and everyone has their own login, at that point there's no reason not to go all out on that and flesh it out into a full on profile system like we mentioned here, again just logical imo
Precious I wasn't counting on it that much with switch announcement since switch in itself is a whole console platform and wouldn't justify cross-save but now that a mobile version is in the works it changes things entirely

And NMS already has a very basic profile system server-side. You have your unique online ID on their end as well as the friend code and dynamic lobby ID
It's just such a perfect update and I don't really understand why so many people are so against the idea, I've seen many complaints that people don't want NMS to turn into an MMO, and I feel like it already is to some extent it just doesn't have any features or systems to utilize that aspect of it as of now
A big multiplayer update like this and then a major update to freighters and then I'm good, I can't think of anything more I would want other than some minor things here and there
I'd like that and also some more in-depth gameplay loops for progression. The new tiered sentinel loot system is a perfect thing to expand upon to other aspects
Can't really understand the fear/hate towards MMOs though. In NMS multiplayer is always a choice and not forced upon the players
Funnily enough some games like Elite Dangerous advertise themselves as MMOs despite that game having way less online interactivity and player persistence than NMS
I never really played ED it just never appealed to me as much, it seems like they went backwards and the game is wayyy more about the ships and flying around to places than it is about what you do once you get there, but again haven't played that's just my impression
And yeah it definitely seems like hg goes out of their way not to force the multiplayer aspects on people, like for instance, I do literally all of the nexus missions alone with no issues and I've always said the only point in having multiple players doing it together is just that it takes less time, that's it

Solar systems with no sun. Maybe a black hole that keeps it in rotation but it’s dark and plants as well as water glow. There’s actual examples of this being possible in reality and would be a cool thing to find
I could see at the very least having some visual changes for installed modules like the exocraft have (you can see the installed mining beams) not sure if this is a thing really for ships.
I know I personally like arranging my ship tech and inventory space as if the grid is the ship itself. So like gear at the bottom, engine stuff on the left etc, would be neat if that kind of thing affected the ships design somehow?

yeah customizable ships would be amazing, doesnt need to be too advanced either, just colors or a few changes here and there would make it feel a lot more personalized. like changing the color of your solar sail, maybe change the tip of your ship or the exhaust, the wings or something, since a lot of the ships have similar builds but just unique styles, so it would be neat to be able to change it without needing to change to a completely new ship

Hi dear devs ! well, no much to say but... you are making history with NMS =)) a beautiful and everlasting one, to you and to us that are leaving our history into the game =))
So, have been doing the 7th expedition and like the others expeditions, i've been helped a lot by the community that built the bases near a point of interest or objective. Would be very nice if exist a way to say "Thank You" for them. I am thinking in some object like the comms but normally they couldn't be build cause the owner of the base denied it. So what do you guys think about having a "Book of Visitors" object put in the base where the players could leave any messages to the owner and/or a way to express we like the base. This could allow either a way to know the most visited and liked bases cross the galaxies. Thank you very much for what be possible done ! =))

So I had a bit of a frustrating time yesterday with something, but I'm now realizing that more of the features for NMS that I'd like have to do simply with multiplayer...jank, as it were. Group bases don't show up right, missions don't work together correctly, the bases being tied to saves (even after upload) preventing full control of base control to other people in my group.
Something I'd really love to see is being able to setup custom base/space station teleportation lists.
I've been in and out of NMS a lot over the years. Has there ever been talk of player guilds, having a guild capital ship etc...
Agree with the guilds but set it up so that while bases can be guild or individually owned they get deleted if all of the member saves are deleted, otherwise regardless of how gonzo gigantic the game world is it will eventually become crowded with abandoned bases that no one can get rid of or do anything about
Maybe also set up the same for discoveries so they get reset and become discoverable if the save or guild they're tied to are gone so it becomes possible to get nanites for them and name them again
Otherwise it's going to slowly get harder to find new stuff in the future, which could cause issues for new players just coming into the game/starting new saves/completing any expedition mode milestones having to do with finding undiscovered stuff
Having an expedition/mode that’s got a social deception element would be amazing.
Think AmongUs if you’ve played it, but something a bit grander would be sweet.
I think it fits the sci-fi universe too of course, and could be fun diversion to the usual goals.
Maybe there’s a divided community goal, and if the “imposter” side wins overall more than the “team” side the community rewards are different 🙂
I'm not sure if this is already in there but being able to have a total online toggle in settings that shows all players in your current star system in real time who have also have that toggle turned on
no, and I don't think Hello Games wants to turn NMS into a full-fledged multiplayer game like that. though I've been wrong before. I think it would be hard to continue to balance content for players who are in guilds and whatnot with the players who just want to be single player (like me). I guess they could use NPCs to make fake guilds you can join, but HG haven't made NPCs that autonomous yet/ever
The two things this game needs that will have me hooked forever would be a capital ship/friggate battle system for huge star battles when contesting star systems. Including multiple capital ships in one system. Which is the second thing. Being able to claim reigons of space under a federation banner of sorts. People can join the conglomerate to become part of a bigger federation. Those 2 things are all I want now
anyone think new ship styles and ship types will be added over time? and what kind would you like to see?
I don't really care for stat differences between types but like the different gimmicks like living ships can find upgrades in space and need different fuels and solar sails recharge

Sentinel Walker pet when?
There has been a lot of content recently, a new faction "Pirates", a new living Frigate, villages ... Time for an exotic freighter and mythical Creatures. The stubborn ones can now find "Dinosaurs", "Beetles" and other predefined creatures, but I think the creature creator has more potential. I, for example, would spend a lot of time finding "Dragon", "Unicorn" or "Fairy". It would be nice to buy such a creature creator separately to be able to check whether a given configuration of elements is possible in the game and whether it is worth looking for one.
I'd like to see what HG would do with a "saucer" type ship
I'd only want new freighter types if I could recruit more than one, especially if the "interior" were to change styles
It be cool if a bunch of expedition milestones or whatever was added as normal missions in the mission board (adopt a predatory creature, collect 250 derelict freighter dust, fight titan worm, etc.)
I just want ship customization. Like I have a really cool fighter that would look great if it was red but its yellow so it just looks like I'm flying around in a space banana. If we could recolor ships it would look so much better.

I would like the Orbital Exocraft Materializer, when used in multiplayer, allow all squad members access to their exocrafts. I also would like the sentinel parts of the minotaur to be color customizable. There's a whole list of other stuff but I didn't sleep last night, so I'mma hold off on saying anything else for now.
Yeah, but they will need to make it balanced, making hard to do it so it doesn't kill an entire part of the game: ship hunting
after a little nap, I've thought of a few other things: I would like the OEM to have a terminal that allows you to manage your exocrafts from orbit, retrieving inventory, installing tech, etc. I know this isn't going to happen, but I would kind of like to pilot the capital ship outside of just warping places, just really get the feeling that I'm flying a Star Destroyer through space.
Also, what if we overhauled the freighter system as a whole?
what if instead of one freighter, players could own one Capital Freighter and 2 normal freighters. Existing players with a normal freighter could simply have their freighter upgraded automatically to a capital freighter without losing any inventory or upgrades. This would be necessary because you can't actually board normal freighters, they simply travel alongside you, storing ships and aiding you when your capital ship is attacked. (edit: This would increase your ship inventory by up to 12 with 2 maxed out normal freighters)

presumably part of the overhaul would be that obtaining normal freighters is a bit easier

Are infested with creatures and stuff. We land there. If we successfully kill all the creatures. Need not be easy. We can fix it and repair it. And own it. Make it our base of operations. We build shops n stuff. And other players or npc races should be able to do their trade there. I think its a big request but would be hell lot lucrative.

destructible bases. by players or harsh weather. and type material you use to build matters against biome you build in . wood is good in winter biome but bad vs hot biome. metal good against radiation but bad against cold, rock good vs hot but bad vs toxic etc.

One question I have is why the slow firing ship weapons overheat when between bursts, like the ballista or the ejector, I’d rather have them add a set amount of heat every shot fired than a smooth increase while the fire button is held, currently this allows for a massive amount of sustained damage at the cost of little heat if tap firing is done correctly

I would hate that. It would mean people have to log in all the time to fix their bases. I like being able to be creative with my designs no matter what biome I'm in and not have to go back all the time to protect it.

Very few aggressive fauna and hazardous flora isn’t really a real threat, and you can just dig holes to hide from sentinels and reset their search bar.

problems such as "no entering your freighter if there's an NPC freighter under attack somewhere across the system" or "you are now fighting pirates because you dared to have over a million units worth of some material on you" get annoying
That’s true. Can’t deny the countless amount of times I’ve been scanned by sentinels or pirates out of nowhere just got having something like platinum on my ship. Have to summon the anomaly to get them off me
However It’s not really lethal. Most often you can just kill the pirates and pulse engine out of there quickly. But yes it’s difficult to avoid that kind of combat
so like, you can find bases or observatories that glitch with the walking rocks to make the buildings walk away from you, please feel free to make it an actual legit thing

I'd like to have more filters options on the galaxy map for easier exploration. For example, a filter to see what stars are in the radius for you to warp to. It would also be nice to filter by economy quality, not just economy type.
Additionally, if you could tag systems for later exploration, that'd be neat.

This idea has been thrown around almost since the games launch and its actually been tried, but because the game is a voxel based destructible environment like minecraft, even large settlements begin to bog down systems after a certain size. People have tried to build player cities by putting multiple bases as close as the game will let you then building to the parts limit, and it got to the point that even going near them would crash even the best gaming PC's and consoles
Minecraft has a similar problem with large builds, where they just begin to lag out completely

This is a list of what I want to see in the game most of all.

The ability to replace squadron pilots with other pilots, instead of having to return to the freighter and dismiss them before recruiting new ones.

This idea I had for a new update. It would add roads on some planet surfaces, aliens would travel in caravans along these roads and there would be different types of caravans.
For example, the Gek could have travelling merchants. The Korvax have researchers that go around scanning things, and the Vy'keen would have travelling mercenaries that sometimes shoot at nearby sentinels. Maybe you occasionally find a lone traveler, who perhaps has something interesting to tell or share with you.
This could also integrate well with the recent outlaws and sentinel updates as pirate systems could have black market merchants and maybe an event where travelling merchants get robbed by pirates? Regulated systems could have sentinel patrols that search you for contraband, they would include 1-2 of those sentinel dogs and some drones. Maybe rarely you could find a sentinel walker on patrol?
You could also have caravan camps setup alongside the roads now and then, a few tents and bedrolls with some aliens going about their business. It would also be really awesome if some of these caravans made use of local wildlife as pack animals.

Trading, this could be a simple trading menu you can use with other players or maybe you could have dedicated trading booths in certain areas, such as stations, trade outposts, and of course the anomaly. All it really needs is a menu that says who is giving what and gives each player a button to accept/deny the trade before it goes through.

after watching the Starfield trailer, two things I've wanted in NMS for a long time were there. 1) hirable (in a meaningful way) NPC crew for your ship, and 2) ships that have hydraulics on the landing gear for a soft touchdown instead of the awkwardly stiff landing that NMS ships have had since day 1. please take note Sean!

Ground combat for bounty hunter missions. The fugitive could hide inside a forest, cave, small hut, or even abandoned outpost.
Better mechanics for combat too. This whole hip fire my gun like I'm in tombstone looking for my huckleberry just isn't it

More variety in general basically, maybe some aliens, new things you can see and encounter like hypernovas or something, bigger settlements and maybe some "homeworlds" of different aliens, basically kinda like hub worlds with towns and such to make space feel more alive in general, and more variety to each planet with something like biomes or structures or something else, because for me right now it's like have you seen one landscape on a planet you have seen the entire planet
Not sure if it was mentioned on here but after the Sentinel update I realized that Hello Games can totally nail the customization for ships and multitools by allowing us to put different parts as custom layers similar to Minotaur Exomech but just to make it less intrusive into the inventory they could add another category/tab in the inventory menu just for the custom parts. It will keep the gameplay logic similar to what we have so wouldn't require a crazy kind of an overhaul and also will not screw up the ship/multitool hunting that some community members do since it is not removing and attaching parts but rather like a skin layer. They could even use scrap dealers for us to buy parts from them
For a moment, I thought that you meant fight against your freighter, but alongside could be interesting
On that note, I think that they should tune up freighter weapons a bit. The freighter doesn't seem to do that much more damage to pirates with its vast arsenal compared to your own piddly ship-weapons
Also, after running a lot of refiners ragged for a bit, something that would also be nice is some kind of automation update
So you can just put stuff into an inventory-buffer that the machine processes, and the result either goes into another machine, or an output buffer
I was thinking, that for the sake of simplicity, the caravans would spawn in like the animals. You land and wait a few minutes and then there's a chance for one to spawn along the road.

I would love some first person arm models and leg models. Seeing a floating gun or looking down to see nothing is kinda immersion breaking.
What if you still have to go out and collect two parents, or have a creature to use its "parts" and fusing them turns them into a single new creature, causing you to lose the creatures used for "input"

I'm hoping one day in the lore, the sentinels calm down enough to allow stuff like... stations built in the "Gek" style or "Korvax" style.
Something that bums me out is that the races don't have any real unique identifiers aside for their actual physical bodies.
I'd love to see buildings/settlements use different architectural styles based on the race that originally built it.
they do actually have "unique" planetary building styles, the problem is they all look incredibly similar in appearance. undoubtedly helps players recognise building types from a distance without issue, but the incredibly minor variations between races has always been a problem
there's a reason it's always gek minor settlements that have broken wall meshes 😅
There should be a new ship type like a big ship not as big as a frigate tho but the new ship would have a fighter bay so if you get attacked you can send out some fighters for support in the fight

Really excited to see where they end up going with No Man’s Sky
I’d love for a more interactive, energetic, and perhaps slightly more time consuming process of entering and re-entering atmospheres, perhaps based on planet-specific gravity! It bugs me that the gravity is all the same everywhere except for barren worlds, which doesn’t make much sense (and for anyone who knows anything about real spaceflight, atmosphere and gravity constantly want to tear you apart lol).
It would also be great to see procedural terrain generation produce more variation and the addition of more assets that the game can pick from for flora and fauna when constructing environments, maybe even procedurally generated parts entirely!
Lastly, it would be super cool to see more ship types or ship parts. Aside from the rare exotics and new solars, fighters, haulers, explorers and shuttles haven’t seen much love since 2016 (especially shuttles… please give those babies a visual overhaul).
A few months at least, unless they surprise us but I’d like them to take their time. Making a game like No Man’s Sky work properly and feel right is very hard
I'd be super happy if the guild envoy was to host a separate list of missions he offered that were all "rank5 +" and maybe had unique or harder mission types (or maybe he offers quest chains?).
A lot of my recent playthrough had the assumption that this was going to happen, and I was a little sad when I finally googled what the envoy does, after always thinking my standing wasnt high enough to see his quests x.x
Just a small idea would be a little discord intergration. It could show if you're doing a Nexus mission or waiting for someone to join your missions.
add more story as well, i want to know a lot more about the atlas and the sentinels and the other characters. i really love and enjoy the writing of even the smallest details, its really enjoyable
It would be cool if there was an upgrade for your freighter, called an Orbital Attack Cannon. This basically could act like an artillery barrage over an area that you could summon with an upgrade for the analysis visor. It would drop a flare like when you ping an area with a beacon, then it would just rain down havoc and explosive shells over the marked area. It would have expensive ammo and be relatively later game.
I think that would require a lot more PVE content, such as raiding pirate/sentinel headquarters. But we do need a lot more PvE content. So speaking of that. Encounters with sentinel FREIGHTERS or whatever. I, personally, would love more action that is end game.
Likely in the next 2-3 months, if their past history with updates is anything to go by!

elevators, as well as different interiors for player freighters
it is 4.0, of course, so they may have plans to update or overhaul many aspects of the game

How do you think they'd go about implementing the changes without a reset?
i'd like to see the cultures of each of the primary races expanded upon somewhat. they could use the Settlements feature as a good initial test bed for such things: have bands at the bars playing race-specific music, or have decorations be race-specific, or go all-in on a language overhaul and give the races more markers in speech other than the occasional "eheu". even just a few dozen procedural bits and pieces littered across the universe would go a long way to making each race feel like an actual group of people with a shared history outside of the mythos you learn at plaques or the dozen interactions you get at a space station.
things like digging up lost artefacts could be an awesome way to learn about these species in a deeper way, but because they have generic descriptions and procedural word salad names, they end up being simply ~1mil unit generators

I'd love to see more variance between the settlements architecture, perhaps 3 new freighter and frigate styles for the races.

need to be able to load up your freighter and send it on trade runs or something. give frigates a small internal inventory to represent hauling out and selling your stuff from the freighter and have a freighter base item for setting up and managing trade routes, sell x per hour or whatever and have mechanics to upgrade transport\sell rates/search out better trade hubs/set up resupply routes where frigates move resources from a base to freighter across warp. Let us use the Freighter as its name implies, set up galactic shipping and defense with frigates and squadron.

So here is a cool new idea I thought up, ship parts! When you would scrap a ship, you would get a random part from it. This could be sold for a bunch of money, or be used to mod another ship. These parts could take the place of the sellable junk items you get from scraping ships. You could apply it to the ship with nanites. When you would add it to a ship, it would change the look of the ship to have the part you applied. It would apply the paint colors of the base ship, unless you change the cockpit, which would change the colors of the ship to the color of the new cockpit. If you would mix parts from two different classes of ships, you would get a new class called a hybrid ship, which takes a small part of the bonuses from each ship class in the combo. You couldn’t take parts from exotics or living ships.

Has anyone suggested a variation in star proximity in rare occasions? This could create new incredible lighting and possibilities for photo mode. With some realism, less distanced stars could generate only desertic or lava planets. While more distances could create darker and colder planets with a dim light from the star in the horizon.

A one scan does all planets upgrade for your ship, so you warp in, hit the scan, and all the planets are now scanned.

Eh...not really. Theres roughly 300 food products in the game already and many of those have several recipes/methods for cooking them.

you can hand-craft di-hydrogen jelly for 40 di-hydrogen a piece, but it can be broken down into 50 at a refiner. Repeat, crafting as much di-hydrogen jelly as you can, while watching a youtube video or show and turn 40 di-hydrogen into 7k over time.

You can do infinite derelicts with just one. You put it in your personal refiner after activating it and it doesnt get consumed

I'd love to see spacewalks being a thing in NMS. Not having gravity in space to make it more realistic. You'll need good life support modules for space walking though and with your jetpack you can accelerate. Maybe by means of space walking you'll have to repair freighter or frigate parts on the outside of the ships.

Basically, if you're mid-moving the contraband, when the system scans you, and triggers the message, if you surrender it, it isn't taken
A way to "bank" starships to a base and have them produce a (relatively) small but permanent source of power- essentially, expend one of your starships to produce a steady amount of power (perhaps this is dependent both on class and ship type?) and whatever storage is available, at the cost of never being able to fly it again.
I'm not a big base builder so I don't really want anything there (except something that's not a ladder or stairs to move vertically), I just really want deeper and more connected gameplay systems. I really want NPCs to take a more active role, both as allies and enemies. More permanent effects on both systems and a galaxy in terms of faction warfare, economic trends, etc. And I'd love for each galaxy to have its own procedural algorithm differences to make visiting them actually worth exploring. And more exploration POIs everywhere -- procedural ruins, dungeons, mini-bosses. Really what I want is a true NMS 2.0 I suppose; I'm sure many of those things I mentioned would require changes to the underpinnings of their procedural systems.
I just use short range teleporters to move vertically. Not ideal but MUCH better than the horrible ladders in this game.

I suggest an all-in-one "establish your simplest base package" that includes just a teleporter, battery, and solar array that builds with one or two clicks. I'm all about spending my time exploring and planet/system hopping vs. aesthetic on at a time base-building (kudos to your artists who do the opposite, so impressive!!). Not that big of a deal to put all three items down manually of course, but what the heck...a clickable package that lets me set up and quickly vamoose out of there would be tight.

Yes If you are an organic entity
GM. Would be cool to have an "item exchange" or "garage sale" center where players can deposit unwanted items and others can claim such...for free and/or a fee. Caps can be put in place (such as no more than 3 items can be placed and only 1 item can be taken every 5 days, or something like that, to limit mass item dumping and sole-player raiding). Could be located on a specific planet, or integrated in certain space stations (such as those in 1 star economies). Would certainly be a helpful gesture to new and old players alike to be able to easily grab some "not wanted by me but important to someone else" items.
...and perhaps a "membership fee" in a solid amount of units and/or nanites could be required so that there's a cost to initially access the center.
A pod racer exo craft so that we can get places on planets faster, it could have a ton of speed but little maneuverability or somthing, we just need a faster land vehicle
More sentinel upgrades would be nice. Right now we just have exosuit ones (which are fine imo) and boltcaster ones, even though some sentinels use weapons other than boltcaster-style ones.
Starship upgrades would also be nice. Sentinel starship drones could drop some sort of salvaged glass when destroyed, which would provide slightly better rewards than glass from land based sentinels, as well as some starship upgrades.

What I REALLY want is a Biomes, Planets, and Creatures update. (ok that's 3 things I guess.) I want Planets with more than 1 zone. Cold in some areas, rainy in others. Hot and dry in some areas, jungle in others. Actual variation on those planets! Along with that, I want Creatures to have better AI and be a little more in depth. I want to see more variation in behaviors. I want to see creature dens and food chains and things that make Fauna seem more real and alive.

I want to jetpack in the water without popping out of it, look at the ground below me when I'm falling, look forwards while I'm walking backwards, keep a consistent camera while I'm walking on a hill, and not be looking at a space station or planet while I'm right next to it in space.

You know, you're right. Planets realistically can have tons of potential areas in them especially pending on poles of the planet and the equater. Oh what if there were spots on the planet that were infected by the Void/Glitch/Anomly/etc? But yeah that'd be great

I would love it if the systems we go to with no data and no races in control could become undercontrol by us and we could place our own Space Station down and then add settlements and create our own economy and make it go from a 0 Star system to a 3 Star System

I would like a ship computer voice for more immersion. Approaching a station to dock, then the ship announces permission to dock. I am tired of units received to the point that my brain tunes out, allow us to turn it off, especially for keen explorers and scanners. So in other words a computer voice upgrade and variety for various activities. Also allow tuning the scanning sounds to add more bass to it, or depth.
Personally I'd like a pvp event where each faction tries to take over a cluster of stars through various missions and pvp.
I also hope Starfield's announcement push the boundaries of creativity and development for NMS higher, bringing new and more extensive new features, paid or free. There are many gameplay loops that can be enhanced further. To name a few, making the journey through galaxies, Frigates and freighters. Some new environments would also be amazing, Nebulas and Asteroid fields with landable big asteroids that require gravity boots to keep you on it preventing jetpacking like the derelict freighters.
Build able space stations where you aquire design pieces from events/missions/other, than you can own and operate would be cool

Maybe, just MAAAAYBE we'll be surprised and we'll get cross-save, but honestly I don't count on it because pc, PS and Xbox don't have cross save either.

it sounds kinda like the steam deck would offer what you're asking for
It's hard to drop $500+ on the Deck.
Even with Switch going in without having one already, Switch+NMS would be $360.
I thought I read that the Switch wasn't even going to have multiplayer.. why would it have cross-save support?
Seems like a bit of a stretch.
few things to consider: deck is $400 not $500, and deck will certainly run the game better + include all features (like multiplayer), and will naturally have cross-save with PC, and cross-play with PC, Xbox, and Playstation
considering nobody else has cross-save (except maybe xbox and microsoft app store?) I don't see that coming to Switch
having said all that, i still want full-featured game with all bells and whistles on switch; switch is neat
Steam has one between PC and Steamdeck and Microsoft ofc. But those aren't really cross saves implemented by Hello Games
If the devs were to implement in-game cross save it would increase server costs quite a bit I'd assume
i don't think it syncs to microsoft
you have the steam cloud sync stuff which covers steam devices like PC (if you bought on steam) and deck, and then separately I believe you have xbox sync stuff that covers PC + xbox, if you bought on microsoft store / gamepass etc
Yeah. Microsoft is completely isolated to their own ecosystem between xbox/windows store version. So is Steam/Steamdeck
They both rely on their own existing cloud save system

we can "fish". Just jump in after them XD or build them into your base
i've been thinking today about all the food variety again
in order to make that variety functional and thus more immersing it needs to have unique perks
totally unique perk for every food item would be perfect, but that would likely be impossible
so i had an idea of food having multiperks based on its ingredients,
like a cake made of honey and thick sweet batter would have perks for those exact two things
still need to come up with those tho, and since the amount of perks would be higher than what good gives now, need to create some new ones
maybe that wouldn't be a bad thing - "potions making"-like mechanics, which would give you some good enough buffs
Wish discovery ui, freighter and frigate to get overhauled on next 4.0 update.
They are too outdated.
No portal cord memo or proper working map and coordinate backup on discovery, really.
I don't mind if it gets to require individual upgrade for all of each frigate to make them work.
So many games have better interaction with frigates or capital ships than nms tbh.
I would like to see some sort of tech (perhaps an expansion of the use of the cloaking device) that can protect the player from pirate attacks while on the surface of a planet. I don't mean raids on nearby structures but attacks on the player directly.
just as the cargo scan deflector works to prevent certain scans from being effective in space.

Well, I mean not multi-biome planets, but something like one region is fields, other is mountains, lakes and etc.
I think ship customisation is coming in summer update, hear me out. We now got a new community research mission which I am sure is to keep us busy until the update but if you look at the posters that come as rewards all of them have something to do with ships, maybe they are teasing something.
they had worm decals earlier and that didn't tease anything
procedural buildings. Those spreaded POI like antennas, factories and so... are untouched since launch
Factories are good candidate to make dungeons like pois
fight and solve puzzles to get to some valuable cargo or tech

chance to find a planet that if you approach, a sentinel capital ship will roll up on you because the planet has sentinels that aggressive
would be cool when you die in your ship, your ship is a wreck (like the wreck you can find) on the planet and you need to find it and repair it.

Here's my take on what should be added :
Race update :
-Randomly generated exocrafts available to buy in what could be cities ? You could buy them to npcs. They could have different types , like the actual one.
-New road prefabs , why would we have expcrafts if we can't race ? We already have a race system, just need some roads.
-Races , a new type of mission/quest, against npcs where you could win money to upgrade more your exocrafts. They would also be races with spaceships.
Population update :
-cities, not settlements, cities, with some new batiments you could buy and upgrades for profit, and maybe even a mayor grade that you could win ?
-Shops
-space colonies
Disaster overhaul :
-rework of the actuals disasters, with better tornadoes, meteor and new disasters, like maybe a tsunami, or earthquakes ?
Maybe add some kaiju like Godzilla?
I mean we already have Shai Hulud
They should fix the AI of corrupted sentinels
And a way to defeat worms.
Wich could once more be a reason to add random exonefs. Like a really big walker to hunt down worms.
