I really, really wish they would add like large towns or like trade anchors type of stuff to fittable planets, a good example would be like Mos Eisley from star wars New Hope, it would really give the planets more life imo.
Eh sure, might have a reference to something like that somewhere in the game but would be cool to actually see it and be able to use it. Particularly if it wasn't just another muti-tool. I loved that staffs were added but it would have been much more fun if it would have also came with some sort of new melee mechanic.

Would be nice if they could add some player controlled economy, and player controlled systems. Like each player was allowed to have control of 1 system. Also be nice to get more PVE story and missions where we can take out some enemies on foot.

They should give us some tools to add our own missions and stories, lore to the game. We have vast planets and systems but no depth or story besides the main few quests (which after there done that’s it)

We mod authors who have access to some game files can see what a mess mission files are
If you go look up mods for NMS on Nexus Mods, you will see bajilion "better rewards" mods, dozens texture replacements, etc
But only a handful of quest related mods, because it's such a pain in the ass to work on
It’s weird mission files are a mess, I mean there’s hardly any real missions apart from the main few quest.
I feel like the worlds look nice, but apart from building there’s isn’t anything else much to do.
Any news on an update for VR to fix the HUD? I want to play it in VR but the simple fact the HUD doesn't track, forcing me to almost constantly rotate is kinda frustrating. Not sure how difficult it would be, but if done it would be a massive quality of life improvement for VR players

I would really like a "Like system" for player structures. That was one of my favorite game mechanics in death stranding.
would be cool to hire cargo tranport aliens to take resorces from across your bases to your freighter perhaps?, like from mining units to a central storage
Storage container units are shared between freighter and planetary bases
The same unit # will show the same inventory when accessed from both freighter and planetary base

no like, from the mining things you place down, and that gets trasnported to your freighter
Yeah, you would connect it and it either sends it to your capital ship or sells off a certain amount you choose.

I think that variety in the structures you can find on a planet, I count about 5 different building structures and a couple of ruins as well as freighters, they're cool to find but it would make the game just that little bit better if more different building meshes were built.
and that they would look differnt depending on race, conflic, and economy
like high conflic strucureds would look more well armed
poor would be lef tto rot and be a little less nice
Yeah, I don't think there's enough telling different races and economies apart other than the economy scanner and goods prices.
If the economy were booming it would be nice to have factories and mineral extractors or something

I would love to see massive ‘Freighter Yards’ in space.
Essentially just Uber-space stations, a place where multiple freighters can dock, perhaps with massive facilities for travellers to explore while their freighter is docked. Obviously these would be super rare, but I think it’d look awesome when you come across one

The game has arctic ocean planets, but no "frozen oceans"
Not sure how possible it would be but imagine a Europa like planet with nothing but deep ocean under a solid ice layer
bro i never understood the purpose of atlas passes right, like ok cool you can open locked things, but p1,p2,and p3 only have so much use, why not lock certain rarety items behind each level to incentivise having them besides just filler things to do
like ik the devs probably wont see this, but has anyone ever felt they were underused?
They also open some doors in stations for loot and lore rooms
But it's standard items and if you're not really after more flavor text like me it's kinda useless
I think it's most useful at v1 because of the red containers scattered everywhere, v2 matters when building up a freighter. v3 seems mostly for "what's behind this door"
Im thinking about buying NMS again for my PC, i had it for my xbox and played a couple of hundred hours a few years back but found it to be quite lonely. I have been reading its a much greater experience now. Any thoughts on this?

Maybe there are a few systems that act as a multiplayer hub and these drydocks would act as meeting places for players, however we already have the anomaly for this so I don't see it being added soon but it is a cool idea

Maybe what we need is a way to make space stations with drydocks, then.
However that could be insanely laggy if you have people's freighters AND your bases in close proximity I still don't know if it would work especially if only one freighter is loaded in at any one time in a system.
It could just be similar to freighters.
A player could buy one or claim an abandoned space station and then craft/buy updgrades like freighter docks.
And then one could make passive income with player owned traders etc.
Yeah I guess that would need some tweeking. That or the freighter insides are seperate instances when docked to a station
Sony closed london studio. I hope HG will grab a bunch of talented pepole from there. Its a good oportunity for HG to grow.
What do you think about the addition of rouge planets, such as while warping to another system, the hyperdrive stops and you'll find a lonely planet with no lights and some special element on the surface.

I’d love it personally if there were places to store pets so that there were more than 6 that u can own at once. Maybe kennels or something? But only placeable in a base/freighter, and hella expensive. With the added bonus of making ur base look sick these would make it less necessary to release animals. Maybe you need to keep them fed well with an autofeeder of some kind and if they aren’t fed enough they escape? Needs to be some downside

yep, planets forced out of their solar system by the gravity of another planet or star. They simply wander around pulled by the gravity of other objects, and they are clearly icy worlds.
it'd be even cooler if you could randomly encounter rogue planets like that via warping

Random ‘dark systems’ on the map but when you warp in, they’re actually just systems where the star’s been encased in a Dyson sphere and all planets are icy

Id say with higher risk, not necessarily more we already have a lot. Being pulled out of hyperspace in the middle of it n not reaching the wanted system with sentinals swarming u for example

I think they should make a new enhanced animation system for planetary animals or at least make a whole overhaul for animals like adding herds, actual immerseve hunting system, maybe animal domains. This would be very cool. Maybe planets would be more than a five sec in and out adventure, Maybe that could make pets intresting like every pet has their own unique attack pattern, overall i think the game needs some more personality...

Assassins creed origins you either kill bounty hunters, pay off bounty or kill bounty giver. I feel like this system could work well for nms

yo does it happen to you guys that the mission agents cargo drop off missions sometimes tell you to visit nonstop star systems and never seems to end?
Having different loading/warp screens would be cool, for example taking a black hole would have a different warp screen than the regular, portals can probably stay the same but jumping systems needs a cooler loading screen imo and depending on the color of the star it could also change the loading screen’s color too
I think the ancient ruin thing from added in outlaw should be called archaeological (dig?) site instead. Idk just makes it a little clearer what you are supposed to do.

2nd time asking gas giants with sky bases and a vehicle to traverse the clouds that also has a build feature so you can build a base floating in a gas giant. And maybe as we go farther down into the gas giant the more our ship starts to deteriorate

i love the way some of the new cloaks (also, more of these, for every species) look and the backpacks and capes can kinda get in the way of that when i'm equipping them

NPC AI in games begs for upgrade for like 2 decades now. Nice to hear that something is happening in that direction.
i saw something about gas planets from way earlier when i looked at the page, but i wanted to mention true gas planets do have a solid core supposedly. Maybe they could add special suit upgrades that allow you to fly beneath the gas atmosphere and land on the core, sorta like the stellar warp upgrades.
like titanium reinforcement for a mid class gas giant and so on.
Even if gas giants just let you park a freighter above it, and actually have use for stellar extractors (and they fixed all thw bugs with them) id be super happy

I think the game should buff up the pvp, i know they are adding racing but also adding like showdown/duel arenas that you can queue up for at the nexus/anomaly with rewards for x number of wins would be pretty cool and fun and their could be options for multitool, exocraft, and starship battles

I’m begging for patch notes. I’m itching to see if they removed a bug I got during the Exped.
Basically, at the end, my “max alien standing” section on the rewards screen shot up to the max value, resulting in me getting an award of negative units. Since games (well, computers as a whole) don’t like negative numbers, the amount of money I actually received going back to my save was the max amount of 4.2 Billion.
I sent out a bug report the next day, here’s hoping they did something about it
There's an update?
Well, we had the major Omega update recently, but in terms of patches/bug fixes, no word on those.
If anyone’s new here, take it from me. DON’T play updates the first day, there’s often a lot of bugs they unfortunately ship them with, and it’s overall much more worth it to wait it out a few days.
I played Frontiers the first day when that dropped a few years back. Didn’t corrupt my save or anything like that, but it was an absolute ball ache.
An update bringing together the little updates eg: echoes and singularity together, if I'm honest the game needs to be brought together to one storyline or something as it's too complicated to get each missions as it is however over long periods of time it may be nigh on impossible for players to know what the hell is going on, I appreciate each content release and update however they should be incorporated better into the game rather than a random transmission after a warp it would be cool if there were quest NPCs in a Bethesda type of way by which these missions can be easily activated or something
So you are not a fan of "random transmissions" and want to do it like in Bethesda games
Where DLCs are started by random note or NPC approaching (Skyrim) or random radio stations (Fallout)

This is completely my opinion, but I think it would be nice to have clans in game and home planets for each race that has big cities and their all hubs like the anomaly, and jobs like mercenary, space officer, etc. I think it would bring groups of people together and make the game world more interactive.
Cause nowadays I only see people in the hub and people just walking around

Like right now, I’m in the anomaly and it just feels dead even with people present
And with the job titles and the brand new environments, I think it would get people who like similar things to have the same thing. Space officers can band together and fight crime (NPC or players alike, players are iffy cause that would make the game sorta competitive) mercenaries can form groups and take on jobs like exterminating aliens infestations or pirates or get hired and do the other way around etc

And that’s another idea, ships that are multiplayer based. Say I’m with a team of people we have the pilot and then other people do other tasks on the ship. Occasionally if ur starship gets attacked by like a pirate scan cause ur carrying cargo, it has battle stations.
Problem is game is not a proper multiplayer title
Switch doesn't have MP at all, all platforms can play the game offline
Another issue is you have your vision of a community with its professions or hierarchy
And so will every other player interested in this idea
So what, HG has to incorporate all of these ideas? Or just 1 and have the rest of community complain about "lacking the option to be profession X"?

It was just an idea, Ik most of it will probably get discarded. But something similar that creates more interaction just seems nice. Playing the game alone can get a lil lonely u know?

Take a look at the existing NPC guilds: why only a mercenary, an explorer or trader? Why not a base constructors guild? Why not an artists association?
Where do people who wanna do K go when all options we have are X, Y or Z?

No, more like whatever you wanna add it's not gonna align with what people wanna do
Having people form their own guilds allows them to roleplay as they see fit
You can kinda already do that in game. Gather pepole, make a guild name , baner, apperance colors, Make star system your "clan system hub" do missions for guild benefit.

I would so love a setting in custom that allows you to increase ship/multitool limits. Obvi this would make ur game a custom one instead of whatever game mode you have on currently. Another thing id like to suggest is a multitool rack that is functional for storage. Hella expensive tho

Did the news ticker channel disconnect from the internal releases? If not, it's possible this isn't an update at all. There hasn't been an internal update in several weeks, when they were patching 4.5. They usually come rapidly before an actual update
they probably have their own internal build distribution as well, rather than pushing every little change/update to steam (even just a depot marked internal)
Maybe we'll be finally able to fly into star.

Wouldn't it make the most sense for Hello Games to deliver new Space Stations in the "big 5.0 summer update" to drive hype?
It depends on whether or not the new SpaceStations actually add something to the game, or if it's all just cosmetic.

Since we can now cycle between available notifications, it'd be cool to have some kind of indicator icons to let us know how many notifications we're cycling through and on which part of the cycle we're on.

it seems from the patch notes they've taken the right route and have made significant changes to it, even with lighting variations/atmosphere which is neat. Ship customization might be fun to try out. I wonder if, when you scrap a crashed ship, it gives you a random part or it actually gives you the part that's visible on the planet
because if the latter is the case, that's exactly what enhances exploration and connects things better
would love planetary points of interest to be way larger like these stations, more going on.

So if you like the wings of a crashed fighter, you can scrap the fighter and you can pick the wings

Planets with aggressive sentinel presence should have like idk orbital stations/rings around the planet warding off any ships that pass through upon entry you are given a warning of sorts about the planet and you should turn around
With that in mind varying levels of sentinel presence relative to what’s on the planet (more valuable things = more stations/rings)
Oh and also have these stations/rings be raidable but in that process putting a bounty on your head
Would really add to the entire ethos of sentinels showing they are more than just a series of space ships and freighters/capital ships
the fact that engine improvements were mentioned in the patch notes is pretty exciting for the future i think

Hellpod-like deployment of the Minotaur. Climb into the cockpit, Minotaur is rocketed to the surface with the player. Pod makes contact, the shell unfolds and the Minotaur unfolds and rises. Saves on having to summon it, especially when landing during extreme storm.

Upgrading Freighters: Small numbers of systems could be “Shipyard” systems, with a large freighter dock either attached to the station or floating in the system somewhere. You can use that dock to upgrade the class of your freighter (and maybe purchase freighter upgrade modules too). Upgrading your freighter will take: 2 days for C>B, 4 days for B>A, and 7 days for A>S. During that time, you are unable to use or access your freighter, unless it is to cancel the upgrade. Once the upgrade is completed, you must return to the system and pick up your freighter. The upgrades will also cost nanites.

It would be cool if you could someone your squadron during ground combat to do an air support fly-by. Prolly pretty impractical with the smaller scale of conflict in this game but it would be cool

I want the ability to set a waypoint for the current planet by providing lattitude and longitude coordinatest
The single most frustrating thing to me in NMS is having to physically be present to transfer items from resource harvest bases NMS has almost every item already that would allow full automation except a way to transfer most items from building to building with the exception of the very start of the chain in resource harvesting. It also is lacking a way to automatically inject/pull items into general storage. If you could build a machine that could pull a specific item from storage at a set rate and place it in a logistic network that connected to a refiner and a machine that accepted items from a logistic network and placed them into general storage at a set rate you would be able to fully automate production,
Another way to do this would be to change how silos work in the game. Have each base resource in the game a have a universal silo accessible in their freighter but each type of silo would require it be unlocked and built in the freighter. Instead of building the old silos in a base a new item could be built that would transfer harvested resources to the appropriate freighter silo.
Or maybe we let NMS be the game that it is, not another clone of Factorio?
The game where we travel the virtually endless universe, discover its wonders and wacky stuff, smell the alien flowers, crush some exotic rocks, befriend some sentient blobs, buy some sleek starships and blow up some pirates
Not a game where we produce stuff for the sake of producing so we can produce more once we produce enough
If I could instantly travel between my bases with very little loading time this wouldn't be an issue as it is if I need to collect resources I set up bases to harvest it can take 30 minutes or more of waiting in loading screens which makes me just not want to play the game. As for your snaky reply if you don't want automation don't use it including the things already in the game like harvesters it's not like it's not already in the game it's just not very well connected as yet.
I really can't understand that type of attitude why gatekeep what is suggested to add to the game just because it's not what you specifically want the more added to the game the more there is to do the more appeal the game has to a wider audience. If everyone had your attitude there would never be any new features because anything proposed or thought of would not be some current players liking.

I think an overhaul of the cockpit displays would be nice, especially so that you could see all the panels at once without moving the camera
Maybe not on overhaul, but some polish. Like having controls move as you move your ship, stuff like that
Ideally, I'd like to see functioning flight instruments like an altimeter next to the speed panel

I feel like different things should be possible in different galaxies. Such as one galaxy has freighter battles, and one has death stars, and another has both. There are so many galaxies but they're all so similar there's almost no reason to go to a new one.
You know what NMS really needs more static structures in space like in some areas of space you will come across a ship assembly yard to scrap old frigates and create new ones or even more rare ship yards that make freighters with crazy amounts of resources.
We should see other things like space habitats and even at some point own our own one that acts like a personal station.
Think of the game startopia where you would build shops on this station and NPC would dock to buy and sell giving you a little passive income hehe
It would also be infulancing how the markets ebb and flow when it comes to supply and demand.
Yes. One of the things I like about X4 is that there are different types of space stations, such as shipyards, refineries, farms etc. would love to see that sort of thing in NMS.
They need purpose though i can understand shipyards because hey the frigates and freighters had to come from somewhere.
Refineries could expand on asteroids in space giving us a whole new chain of resources that can only be found in space.
utilizing refineries in space could be the only meens to refine said materials utilizing gas for example from being in red green and blue systems.
Giving us means to experiment with 1 type of asteroid materials for example by 3 different ways for basic then 2 additional high quality version by utilizing red and blue for example.
Call thease new materials reactive materials.
Then introduce new upgrade to become resistant to said materials or enhance weapons with them doing more damage and have enemies that are resistant to some types and others to other types.

I hope one day they add conversations between NPCs in space stations that lets you learn a word or two just passing by them.
Well i guess they could do a form of player guilds because that would be a start
Then whenever a player within the guild builds a base it will upload it to cloud based system that when ever you are online and log in will automaticly download the base so its in sync with everyone when the last time it was uploaded.
Also have a new building called the uplink that a player may press to make them the host of a instance and other players who press it can see it this should theoretically support more people up to 16 utilizing the host once players leave the range of the base they will disconnect from the host.
If the host leaves the area all players will disconnect and all players will be prompt if they would like to upload the base as long as one of them does the base will be saved.
If all players decline the base will revert back to a previous state.
then at some point in the future be allow to make it so you can utilize a dedicated server to be used on said uplinks thus would be able to maintain way more players as a sort of pocket server.
The host would be a artificial player connected to the NMS server while all players within the pocket server being the dedicated server would be uploading and downloading information to and from it.
Players > artificial player (dedicated server) > NMS server > artificial player (dedicated server) > Players

I just thought of a really good idea
Player customized frigates that act as a multicrew like a mini freighter
that one player can control as if it was a normal ship while the others can control turrets and systems like directional shields.
It would have 4 landing pads on it by default that all players can land on and allow the main player to innitate warps to other systems.
Thus allow enemy frigates to arrive in huge fleets to try and take on your one.
Ecumenopolis planets
New cosmetic items for the common races? Gek and Vy'keen in particular need helmets of some sort (helps with immersion considering how often we're wandering around the vacuum of space)
I just want 3 more appearance modifier slots. One slot for each race.
I think that would be dope but I don’t think they should do that. Maybe have major random generated cities that expands around 200-500 kilometers

thats a little much. no computer would be able to render an all-city planet unless they restricted you to certain zones, but then that would kind of kill the NMS vibe
i think a cool idea would be to have sentinel factory or fortress worlds. could have fabricators as decor and much tougher patrols
do you guys think we'll ever get customizable lighting/bridge interiors for freighters?
maybe if it was like a one instance thing they could use rendering techniques to simplify. but itd be way too intricate to be an easy choice dev wise

I kinda wish we had an exocraft that can fly around, I know I have a ship but its a little much for certain things
I hope one day we get a new computer to visit on the space stations/our freighters that allows us to put ships into deep storage, essentially allowing us to have more than 6 ships collected, but only able to have 6 easily accessible. Like for each slot to store in deep storage you have to pay a hefty chunk of nanites and then to withdraw a ship from deep storage you have to trade in one of your current ships if you are at the 6-ship cap. Maybe even make it so you have to pay units every time you withdraw a ship.
i wish there was a way to holster the staff or put it on our backs. I don't really like lugging it around on space stations
You can have 12 ships now and only 5 or 6 show up in ur freigter hangar

Planetary stuff:
- More planet assets and colors. Would be nice if radiation and toxicity wasn't heavily leaning to green and yellow.
- More biomes with distinct species, Terrain and minerals
- Gas planets
- Deeper and more diverse cave systems. Objectives within caves and stuff to reward exploration
- Fauna behavior overhaul. More fauna designs and types
- Deeper seas and "rivers". Different kinds of liquid for seas and lakes with unique fauna/flora to each
- A way to mark an area as "base" or "mining spot" to prevent terrain and flora/mineral from being regenerated within the area
- Wacky planetary terrain, Weird fauna and flora. Imagine you are walking on a planet and you see a spider-like creature the size of a mountain slowly pass by. Or floating flora etc.
- New sorts of weather and more variety of effects like floods, Hail, Gas clouds etc
- Waves and tide to make seas look more ethical
Interplanetary:
- Stars actually being a thing. Maybe new kinds of stuff that spawn near stars and stations near em.
- More space fauna. More things you run to when you explore space
- Planet spacing. It'd feel more natural when planets aren't nearly in the same place
- Asteroids and protoplanets you can land on with their own stuff

Most likely this has already been suggested, but I’ll write it anyway. We need slightly larger ships and the ability to move around in them and perform at least some functions such as repairs. More immersive experience with the ship.
It would also be cool to fly in a group of up to 4 people. So that a friend could sit down on a turret, for example. And also group missions in open space, for example clearing an infected cargo ship from some creatures.
planets should have multiple biomes instead of just one biome covering the whole thing
maybe multi-biome planets can be a rarity
Multi biomes are more realistic and spice up exploration

Rideable and customizable frigates would be perfect for this imo

This is probably my number 1 wanted feature, and unlike terrain gen overhauls, it prolly wouldnt require a reset. The biomes could be weather, flora, mineral, fauna related etc, without having to change preexisting terrain.
Okay here is a suggestion. I have this material in my inventory and it says it is used for crafting. I wanna be able to see what can be crafted from it with just a click of a button.

Predator companions actually will kill and consume other fauna, especially if aggression is maxed out.
I've also had companions shoot sentinels with their mining lasers, although it's not frequent.

I know everyone has wanted to customize ships since the get go basically, but this little detail made me smile, it made me realize I had a good idea around how to unlock new parts, no matter what. I really needed this little ”win” or whatever, life sucks. ☺️ 🥹
Railguns, imagine how fun railguns would be just firing a railgun with the big BOOM and in atmosphere it could cause small amounts of terrain damage or something and be able to hit multiple targets through each other imagine the satisfaction of just see multiple enemies die at once
More exotic planet types:
Hurricane worlds (fire, ice, lightning, light distortion energy, gravity, etc) they have these massive storms on them visible from space and if you enter them you get a visual spectacle and high danger, but add building stuff collectibles for instance a lightning ball that has vfx.
Crystal planets A planet where the ground is reflective and crystaline, with glass storms that are deadly to the point you have to be in a vehicle or in cover while they pass, or have your shields be very powerful.
Weird planet rapid fire:
A planet that has apparitions that mess with you, like false creatures and ghosts
High gravity planets that require special vehicles to roam.
Molten ocean worlds, requires heat shielding and hover vehicles

I think it would be great if we got a wildlife update. Maybe add new parts for old creature types, or add new creatures. It would also be cool to see changes in plants other than color, such as having fruits to harvest. It would also be nice to see different biomes, such as a swamp that’s covered in a small layer of water. It would also be nice if we could have deeper oceans.
List of animals I think we could base new creatures off of: Crocodiles, snakes, giant spiders, Komodo Dragons, bats, anglerfish, (IK about the abyssal horror, but I mean as fauna) flying fish, and ostriches.
It would also be cool to have a desert planet, based off arakis from Dune, along with worms that can kill you.

The current ship limits is 12, and that's ok, but I, like many players, have a core of ships that were either difficult to find or were Expedition rewards and we're not willing to part with them. My proposal is to make something like a Parking Garage, cold storage for, I don't know, let's say 25-50 ships. 12 active at any time but you have to go to the hangar to swap them. maybe put it on space stations or the Anomaly! Ideas for a fauna overhaul:
Behavior
- Fauna acts in unique ways than they do currently. Making them more interesting. Though this also creates more danger and forces the player to be more cautious around fauna. Certain fauna may have more than one type of behavior.
Basic kinds of behavior:
- Shy: The fauna will run away when the player or another fauna approaches them
- Territorial: The fauna will warn the player or other types of fauna excluding certain members of its species or family. They will attack if you don't heed their warning.
- Curious: The fauna will follow the player or other fauna.
- Mild: They act much more like the current fauna of NMS
- Stationary: The fauna is mostly still or very slow. They dont interact much but they can still be predators or prey.
Complex kinds of behavior:
- Herding/swarms: A much more elaborate kind of herding. Herds can vary in size but they are often 5-30 individuals. They band together, follow an alpha and protect each other unless they are shy fauna. Packs of predators are often smaller in numbers than prey herds.
- Nesting: Certain fauna may create all sorts of homes. Nests, webs, holes, hills and many more. The number of fauna-related objects on a planet never changes and it often regenerates in a nearby spot.
- Migration: Fauna may move to a new place or biome in search of food, mates or suitable habitat. This also related to new planets with seasons.
Actions:
- Climbing: The fauna is able to climb terrain or flora
- Digging: The fauna is able to dig through terrain
- Plot: The fauna can hide and wait for prey to surprise it. They may also use flora and terrain to hide themselves from the player
Symbiotic and parasitic relationships:
- Fauna living with other fauna or flora either as one body or seperate. They are often found together.
- Parasites will harm their host and may also effect the player.
Habitats:
- Fauna may have varying habitats depending on the biome, season and time of the day. Fauna no longer completely disappear at a time of the day instead some disappear and some head to bed in another habitat.
- Fauna may live on or in flora or on another species or their parents
- Fauna no longer spawn haphazardly on planets instead they spawn mostly on certain places such as mountains, plains etc and rarely on others.
Someone has probably sad that already, but a trade menu and the ability to trade ships would be great.

think like dune/valerian/satisfactory update about building factories, making alliances and like fighting war and stuff over territories in the galaxy adds building more farms and more in depth freighter customization for fighting

literally I'm making concepts of updates for NMS and the factories and war fighting stuff are two separate update concepts

the thing is there needs to be a reason for factories, currently there's not much reason to mass produce stuff other than MONEY
so my concept for a factory update allows players to craft a whole ton of items that were previously uncraftable but only through factories, and then using some those items in other factories to produce larger things
for instance the update would let players craft ship subcomponent items (items you get from scrapping ships in space stations) and then use those subcomponents in factories to craft ship parts to build ships

heres my standpoint behind it
with the war could come like space construction/more player interactions/custom freighters (something everyone wants) more uses for freighters/ and could add something that is like spice from dune and cause more player interactions, and to make it like not such a big deal if something blows up you get the supplies back but like planets have certain reasources that youcan only get from certain planets making player v player war actually worth something
I think that the last bit about player v player stuff is a bit too complex for me
but I do have one concept about another combat expansion involving freighters, expanding freighter functionality, and freighter combat
not saying anything about it yet though
or just better pve so different types of freighters and frigates more uses cuz idk if uve ever played infinite lagrange but they have a bunch of cool frigates and freighters with customisability for different purposes like theres planet destroyers, repair carriers, arty, missiles, drone carriers and different types of drones and stuff, and add a capital ship class that gives u like an enders game type control over a gigantic battle

if ur adding stuff itd be great to see like arty, carrier, missile, cannon freighters as well
add pirate attack events to our own freighters, similar to planetary settlement attacks

This game has come so far from where it began. I think something that I want to see is more Exotic planet items. Such as 1-3 star rarity things like Gravitino Balls and more rare water things instead of just armored clams and those crystals.

I have a weird spergy idea for an entire themed update, SOME of its concepts are VERY SUBJECTIVE and certainly may not be particularly liked by some but bear with me...

Carrier starship:
New ship type named Carrier, a two player ship with seat for a pilot and a seat for a passenger, the pilot steers the ship and fires its main weapons, meanwhile passanger has a variety of tasks, ranging from mining resources in space to firing at enemies chasing the starship -
Void mineral deposits:
Many surface minerals now may be found in deposits hidden within asteroids orbiting planets, though too hardy to break down with standard ship equipment, they can be mined with an advanced mining laser installed on a carrier ship for the passenger to mine -
New game mode:
A new Duo story mode, which is essentially the original main story but with dialogue re-written for immersion of two players, aside from that the gameplay is much more connected, with same dialogue being done both players voting on speech options, objectives being shared and completed by both players, base building privilages, ship, freighter and settlement ownership being fully shared, whenever the two players feel like they may wish to sever ties from eachother turning their save files into regular mode and allowing them to continue on fully independently.
the gamemode shares its servers with regular modes but not with permadeath. -
Exocraft Passenger seats:
Exocraft now gain access to passanger seats for another player to use installed weaponry and mining equipment independently from the driver, gather resources and fight more efficiently together!
- Starship combat rework:
Starship combat will get a full overhaul to make combat feel both less chaotic and more skillful and satisfying, the overhaul would include drastic reduce to overall manouverability of all ships at high speeds but also increase in damage to promote sticking to your target.
Now don't assume lack of manouverability leaves you a sitting duck, the ships are now fitted with a variety of new assistance equipment in the cockpit, amongst which is firing pattern detector, an onboard screen displays an oncoming damage allowing you to dodge in opposite direction when chasing a target, upgrade your tech to increase the detection speed, additionally when entering a chase with a target at high enough of a speed, the ship automatically locks onto the target allowing for dodging without necessarily breaking the lock on unless the distance from the target is too great, additionally if your ship is fast enough you may get close enough to your target and make use of another useful piece of cockpit equipment, a targeting array, once close enough to a locked on target the targeting array aboard the ship allows more precise aiming at your targets ship tech, allowing you to disable their shields permanently, reduce their speed for the rest of the fight or even disable their ship temporarily to knocked them out of the fight until you feel safe enough to persue them.
During the reworked ship combat the enemies won't fire upon you from all sides and rather attempt to chase you just like you chase them, sometimes when enough fire is sent your way dodging may prove too much to efficiently aim forcing you to let your target go and evade until you manage to catch up on someone else,though having a passanger in your backseat to fire upon persuers may prove a relief.
Pirate and sentinel ships also get a rework to fit into the new combat design as to not let them stay in the dust, the ships now gain classes with particular behaviours, roles, advantages and disadvantages.
Jackal ships specialise in fast paced hit and run tactics, though not particularly hardy or damaging they are highly manouverable at low speeds and extremely fast at high speeds, players chasing at low speeds may struggle to shake them off when trying to break off a chase, only at high speed can they shake them off easily by rapidly decreasing speed but catching up with them afterwards may prove difficult for slower ships, only the fastest ships can reach them close enough to target their vitals.
Vulture ships are weak and fragile piloted by cowardly scavengers, usually a few may gather around the site of battle, waiting.
Vultures remain inactive throughout most of the fight until the player chased a singke target for too long, seeing it as an opportunity to pounce they collectively pounce behind the player hoping to overwhelm them with firepower, if not destroyed they tend to scatter in fearful frenzy once every other ship has been defeated.
Fixers as the name suggest are large and slow Haulers filled with variety of spare parts for quick fixes to any of their damaged comrades, though slow and not very manouverable, they are hardy and resistant to damage, not hard to catch up with and damage vitals but their slow speed allows their fellow pirates to catch up with the player much easier.
Commanders are jack of all trade fighter ships that are fast, manouverable and hardy but not nearly as much as their specialised counterparts, they occassionally provide boost in stats to the players targets while in the chase and twice per battle may summon reinforcements in the form of grunts, but if destroyed earlier than the rest of its squad it may temporarily demoralize them causing jackals to fly slower, vultures to scatter and fixers to provide repairs slower.
And finally Grunts, basic pirate ships with no particular purpose, strength or skill, will generally join chase after the player and provide minimal firepower.
All of these changes are very drastic but made to create more intense chases and fights in the space while making each ship feel more specialised, focus on speed and wear out high value targets early, manouver well and wear everyone out individually, and in more combat intense sytems with most dangerous pirates and largest amounts your squadron may finally begin to shine by drawing the heat off of you or provide occassional help by supporting you in a chase.
Fight alone with a squadron or with a trusty gunner aboard your shared trusty Carrier or split up in individual fighter, how you handle those trying to tear you down is up to you

Some good ground combat is needed on nms. The desonant planet and it's corrupt sentinel enemies are a good start.
instead of spreading these sentinels randomly across all over the planet .it would be better if these enemies are found in certain pois / regions

For starters they can occupy existing pois such as trading outposts or observatory or other minor settlements.
When a players discovers this poi it can be a normal one or can be overrun by one of these sentinel enemies that the player can clear and get some reward .
This actually improves on planet exploration without adding any biome varieties. -
They can add some sorta mega fauna guarding loot in naturally formed POIs such as on top of mountains,on floating islands , or under a cave .
Player can get a unique loot after defeating them. -
Man how cool it would be to have on planetary pirate hideouts . We can clear them for high-value contraband loot.

Sentinel pillars are pretty basic. Sentinel pillars should be overhauled to be a giant sentinel hive building with multi floor interior player has to navigate and kill all the sentinels inside them to find the disable sentinels switch at the core of the sentinel hive building.
Similar to autophages, we could get alternate groups of the other two main races, some sort of holdout of the first spawn gek, and the cult of nal for vykeen

I don't know if they have patched that in the last patch... but if you trade someone a ship then quickly recruit them... it now randomizes their vessel when they are recruited. That doesn't work anymore. I spent all last week trying to build a squadron.. only to spend 500 million on ship parts ... only to have it randomize the results. I think it's part of the new ship system. I mean having total freedom to set up your squadron like you want.. that would be nice I feel
How about some Bandit settlements/bases? They could be like mini dungeons that you fight your way through, armed with their own exo-walkers and discoverable using coded beacons like the sentinel pillars.
The main issue here is that multiplayer is veeeeeerrry buggy with story missions already and has been for a while. The storyline just wasn't designed for it and I don't think HG is very interested in reworking it. Unless they rebuild it from the ground up, more MP options are likely just going to cause more problems.

Unpopular opinion inbound i belive the nomad should be removed and the parts for it be cosmetic for the other exocraft.
Have the Pilgrim or Roamer utilize the hover wheels as a cosmetic.

i'm currently working on some concepts of NMS updates in google docs rn and one of them involves further expansion of combat, freighters, pirate & contraband stuff, etc. so could I have permission to add these ideas to the concept
I'd think aliens should have things more than just physically beating you
also I wanted your guys's opinions on this: part of my combat update concept is adding a bunch more contraband items including a new class of smuggled goods called "Narcotics" which are literally, yes, space drugs
here are two concepts I have for them, one for the Gek and one for the Korvax. They can be sold like contraband at a high profit in non-outlaw systems, however selling the specific item to individuals directly of the preferred race will yield a much greater profit (for instance selling the Gek one to Gek pilots in space stations)
I'm being careful with how much I describe this because I don't know if I'm at risk of getting muted or something for talking about fictional space drugs XD
Why don't we have a NPC terminal building for missions called a ambassador that allows you to accept missions as well as send members of your squadron to do missions.
It would obviously be the Korvax race as this NPC due to we already have 2 geks and 2 Vy'keen
It would also utilize the squadrons a little more if you could send them to go do missions in your stead from said terminal.
They should just add procedural sentinel enemies.
They could use the animations from all of the weapons (Multitool & ships) already in the game
They should also grade enemies from C to X and make it randomised.
This would make you think about every combat encounter (scan them for their rating)
Imagine a crab like sentinel with a tail that has a pulse spitter gun. Grade B
Or imagine a Sentinel that digs underground and pops up to shoot you with a scatter gun. Grade X
You would enjoy every combat encounter

but I would suggest distilling your concept down to the basics, they probably receive a lot of suggestions
A new gun type (kinda like the neutron cannon but in a more unique way) that would fire a spread of shots (like a shot gun instead of a little area) and could be upgraded like a multi tool or starship to be more powerful, have a faster charge rate, more shots, and more damage but will require a lot more ammo per upgrade and be rather hard to find (only discoverable or findable from destroying a S class dreadnought) but be worth it
@unique bay idk if you would like to add this but it would be very cool
is it supposed to be a multi-tool gun? if so I'm not sure how this would be different enough from the neutron cannon other than requiring more ammo like you said

Capital Ship Upgrade Suggestion:

Instead of bieng able to upgrade at every Space port, Limit Capital Ship Upgrading to only random Top End Systems. Like Tier 3 Manufacturing, etc. and Rare Random Pirate Stations. Each player would need to locate an upgrade station by bringing it close to the space station and checking the ship upgrade panel. To see if there is in option to Upgrade their Capital Ship. , Make it a bit more Challenging having to search for the station. To save on LAG and Loading their would be a 1 player Upgrade per station limit. So with Multiplayer Networking enabled Only 1 player may have their captial ship bieng upgraded at a station at a time.
Now for the Costs:
As we all know Capital Ships and Dreadnots are HUGE . So I am of the Opinion it should be Expensive to upgrade cap ships.

I feel This is a great idea. It would give Players something to do with all the Money and Materials We are all hoarding. I know some may complain its to expensive, Well, Sorry but as Capital ships are the largest ships in the game. its ment to be expensive. It gives Players somethinng to work for if they dont want to cheese it and just save load at a posted Portal location.

No it’s not… you can’t really look out of it. Plus I think the new stations really need separate rooms. The old stations were minimal but at least there was a bar there, making it feel like a somewhat lively space where pilots chilled, instead of a giant open room that is all business. Some of the charm got lost
There are doors or at least i think they are with "no access" on them on 2nd floor. i hope we will get new rooms for stations in near future.

As we are all aware, Each system is Static. I mean It never chages its economy, combat lvl etc. I think it would be great if System economies could change or fluctuate. So a Tier 3 economy combat 1 system could become a Tier 1 system combat 3. Also as the system economy changes so would the quality of ships seen at ports and the quality and cost/price of goods bought and sold at the systems galactic traders. . I think it would make the game alot more fun as well
So, I know it's extremely unlikely MP will come to Switch. That's fine, it's buggy enough elsewhere as it is.
But I would like for them to at least look into a passive way to gift items. Like a donation box for your uploaded bases.

They are same planet biome with pink crystal popping up everywhere. I wish on that desonant planets, corrupted sentinels and pink crystals are spread in specific regions than them wrapping over the entire planet
I guess it's just a limitation of NMS. Each planet has one whole biome across it and the diversity comes from planet types.
It'll be interesting seeing Light No Fire actually tackle different biomes tho.
Im intrested if there will be multiple ocean biomes. Coral reefs, rocky , sandy flat areas , sea weed forests, volcanic , etc etc

Friend wants to see planetary dungeons and such, kinda like Derelicts, but planet-side.
He also wants pirates you can encounter on foot, like Bandit Camps and such. And possibly events where bandits are raiding your settlement for the items it's producing..
Not behind your back of course, just when you're there, like the Sentinel alert level.
From what I'm understanding, he wants pirates as ground enemies that run after you, found at pirate camps. (He wants this idea above his other ideas)
I'd imagine it'd be terrifying to see this big, hulking Vy'keen running up to you and smacking you with a fist, just like that Markiplier meme.

Just a cool idea, but I'd love to be able to attack and do damage to the new stations. After a successful attack you could be able to convert the station to a pirate station
I kinda doubt they'll give players the freedom to drastically change a station's economy permanently...

idea: base attacks by sentinals, and encampment weapons for defense, mortars, howitzers, stuff like that to fight them off
it would be automated but you can take control to target mor dangerous targets
We already have the sentinel attack thing in settlements though the weapons seem pretty cool
If they do add commandeering stations they should have it so only abandoned system stations can be taken over, maybe have a small questline to reactivate the AI after overriding it with the contraband item then having to fix it with some high end materials like circuit boards, portable fusion reactors, etc. Abandoned stations feel out of place and like they dont have much use due to the bad economy left in those systems so it'd give them some reason to exist outside slight immersion, though I dont see this happening.

My favorite part of NMS is the trade route subgame (aka Spreadsheets in Space). In Orbital, I love the slight UI changes to the star map, the stars & icons make a huge difference for someone like me. Plus I love the changes to economy types showing up at the higher level, so I don't need to track the economy sub-type quite as much (I can just focus on the main economy type category when making my nerdy spreadsheets).
That said, the single thing I want most is for the buy/sell numbers to be available somewhere besides the star map (like on the discovery log would be AMAZING). As I am travelling looking for routes, this slows me down quite a bit.
I imagine it's coming out in some form but hoping to see shuttle customisation being added as well as the colour black within the selection.
Customisation adding to Solar Ships also, as well as an overhaul to the pirate stations. Quite like the idea of Solar Ships only being customisable in Pirate stations.
Also a return to the uniqueness of space stations, the side rooms whilst not adding much purpose did add something tiny to explore with each station, including the Atlas Pass rooms with this also
So I think it would be very interesting if the autophages were to expand beyond their camps and venture into space on cloaked capital ships built from the crashed freighters that you sometimes find their camps in, and set up hidden stations in some of those systems that don't have stations.
Would be extra awesome if that was an expedition where you are an autophage assembling one of said capital ships and venturing to a station
Would you guys ever want some kind of private server for the game? Obviously this game works differently to game like Minecraft where you can't just host a world but it could be very useful to have some kind of central character/server uploading a groups worth of changes to the discovery server and smooth over some connection issues especially for large groups

There should be an update that overhauls freighters and allows them to be more combat useful. Like orbital strikes from space, or nukes from space. I think that’d be cool
Need wires, timers ,switches and triggers for fireworks. For the ability to make actual fireworks show.

This is a suggestion for a feature I sent to hello games and I want you guys' opinions, being able to build space stations, and it works like this
First you need a special ship part, something like a "Ship Building Tool" that sets your ship on building mode (slower and more precise movements making it easier to control the ship so you can build)
Then let's build, how do we build? You may ask. I have the answer: Station Blueprints! And each blueprint will give it a shape and functionality, I imagine these as some of them:
Trade Section: looks just like a regular space station
Ship manufacturing section: where you can build new ships and mod ships you already have (since we can't mod ships after they're built or ships we already had through buying or salvaging, I think it's cool you need to build your own workshop to custom your ships) and the Ship Manufacturing also has "The Mechanic" a special trader that offers you ship parts IF and only if, you complete certain missions for him. Since y'all want the exploring to be part of the building of ships.
Capital Ship section.: this section will be on the station sides and you may say "capital ships are too big for the stations!" And to that I say, fear not friend, cause I already thought about that, and the solution is that the capital Ship section is open on the sides, with a "go through barrier" protecting it from the space endless void. In the capital ship section you can buy capital ships (if there's any in there) or you can call yours there and mod it, by buying parts from the "Capital Ship Specialist" that's sells you capital ship parts like hyperdrive upgrades and all'at.
And you may think "all of that for free? Are you insane?" And no, friends, I am not, cause you'll need to periodically pay the shopkeepers, of course that'll make them offer you a discount as well.
Also, the quality of items sold by all shopkeepers will vary from what shopkeepers you hire, you hire them on non-player stations (they get replaced after you hire them and leave the system) the quality of the shopkeeper is what defines his salary and goods. You also need a good standing with the shopkeeper's species to hire them (that would be another reason to have a good standing with them!)
You can also customize the color of the station and all of its furniture, and even choose what guild operates on your station if you have enough standing with them.

just read your suggestion and I think it's epic, I'm going to add these ideas to one of my update concepts involving what was mostly an expansion to freighter and sentinel combat as well as pirate/outlaw content
I think I'll add this to a different update concept I'm working on involving adding more economic stuff and factories into the game, the only concern I have with this is that I'm not sure how compatible it would be with the servers since each system only has 1 space station and I'm not sure how the game would handle having more than one if the player-built one is coded similarly to the regular one or if it's just a gigantic base with space station shopkeepers
that being said, a lot of players would probably enjoy this idea and it would be cool to profit off of a space station's sales
I'm making a concept for an update which does exactly this and compeltely overhauls freighters, you should scroll up to read my suggestions on adding freighter "armadas" and "armada battles" between two sides as well as different types of combat freighters and frigates you could purchase
what I have so far for my concept of a settlement overhaul, let me know your thoughts 
there will be more, especially with explaining how to manage the new hunger metric for settlements
I think maintenance and utility would be in the same skill

I'm not sure I like the idea of a hunger mechanic on settlements. It's not really something I want to have to keep stopping at to fix every other hour

Yeah it's a tricky one, was mainly thinking of ways the multiplayer could be a bit more seemless with group play, instead of having bases tied to the individual they could be tied to a server, same with standing etc. Ran into the issue quite a few times where I've played with friends who can't shake the feeling that this is a single player game with multiplayer tacked on rather than a multiplayer game. If that makes much sense?
I would like an option to have no missions selected. I want to start a new game for a Roleplay story I want to tell but the stupid little mission pop-ups are distracting from the story I want to tell apart from the main storyline. I have 1000+ hours in this game. I know the story lol. I want to tell my own now. and if my story fits activating the missions then I could activate the mission. I hope this all makes sense lol.
my biggest issue are the CONTANST POP UPS of maps i could activate, BUT I FUCKING DONT WANT TOOOOOO!!!!!!!!
it is insanely hard to follow quests, if its shown for a second, and then 3 minuts random popups of maps... uts sooooo garbage
You can discard the maps, as the most annoying consumable pop ups are the exosuit map (which is pretty useless, you get more slots really easily) and the echo locator

Next up: allowing players to mix and match any ship parts between different archetypes
it's not something you always need to manage, as long as you build enough farm buildings then your settlement is self-sustaining
however I do realize that a hunger metric is probably a pointless thing to add
I'm already having pain enough trying to build a landing pad at my settlement (wtf is an aronium), I don't need more things to manage on my save between quests, space station bounties, hunting down starship storage upgrades, and everything else that I want to do
My settlement has a trading post and the wip landing pad. I seriously don't need more things to watch over than just the sentinel attacks
If they updated flight controls in the future I’d highly recommend derelict freights have a randomly generated maze of sorts that you have to fly through before you can land a sort of process of navigating a destroyed ship
Part of me kinda wishes some of the unique items like ships, etc. From expeditions got introduced into the main game via a short quest somehow. I start a lot of new saves for various reasons and it would be a nice thing to earn them rather than just getting them at the anomaly, I think Hello Games think similar things as you have to pay for the latest ship even if you've unlocked it

Really hope we get an update to the view from space when a planet has a storm, I have no idea what an actual storm looks like from space but the effect whilst VERY cool is really flat. I think most people mistake it for a bug at first
Ability to get pirate "maps" from pirates or pirate dreadnought where u can find big chest with high value loot ( always yellow tier) . Or ability to make that map on your own where u write down glyphs, galaxy name and +- coords.
I want all planets position aligned atleast in static elipse orbital path instead of straight lines .they could increase distance between planets a lot by shrinking them even more to create illusion of distance.

Maybe. But as of today, the slot inventory space is very large since the 4.0 update. As long as you buy the needed expansions upgrades, you should have plenty of space with any starship*.
And a freighter's hangar can show off your starship collection (altho it won't fit all of them these days, since the starship cap was expanded)

We need another touch-up for water. It looks pretty bad compared to everything else on planets. The sounds are also not great, the swimming sounds like dipping your hand into a bathtub.
