you must try in VR, build in VR may provoke swears, but fly and fight is amazing 😄
what about ask to DEVs to increase the parking space on freighters to let your full 12 ship collection be parked AND leave 3 spaces for active ship of party members... may be really nice and involving move in full party across the galaxy (and actually the unused ship mess the free spots a bit)
Massive army would be cool
Spacewalking/EVA
Convert the Colossus into a mobile HQ, ground-based vehicle with a walkable interior
Deploy spherical camera drones from the sides of it
Pretty sure the switch would combust if you did that lol
Idk if Colossus is big enough for a walkable interior to be honest. It's big but it's not that big
Give the reprogrammed Sentinel drone LAYLAPS a purpose. Make it this camera drone.
It'd be cool to give it a built in large refiner though
It can be. They can make it bigger
It can become a space Winnebago
You know how the Batmobile in the Arkham games can move in it’s combat mode in all directions? Let the Roamer have that capability
Exocrafts are already pretty cumbersome. If you made colossus bigger just navigating would be a real hassle. I do like the mobile base idea. So maybe just give it a refiner, full hazard protection, and a gas collector or something?
Roamer's fine as-is tbh
If pilgrim and nomad are seen as being better than roamer, an easy solution is to cut their inventory space by a lot. Small, fast, but can't carry as much
More Hazardous Flora ideas:
- Giant Tentacle: Very long vine spanning up to 30 meters. If the player comes close it flings them way up in the sky. If the player falls or flies near the planet it will grab and smash them onto the ground.
- Death Lotus: Another large plant. If a player or fauna walks 50 units near it. It will fire vines at them and slowly drag them towards itself then slowly digest them until destroyed.
- Sea Net: Found underwater. Swimming by it will snare the player.
- Oil Pit: Large hole-like buried plant with spikes within. It spews out oil in the surrounding area to cause the player and fauna to slip.
- Psychic flora: Rare strange flora evolved telekinetic powers to fertilize its own soil. If a player walks by it moves them randomly. Sometimes teleporting them a distance.
- Gravity Weed: Another strange flora. It alters the gravitational field around it causing either extremely high or low gravity in the surrounding area.
- Tumble Flora: Bounces and moves around the planet. It may carry materials from the planet and may be spiny. Varying in size
- Gas Cloud Flora: Continuously spews out poisonous clouds in the area. Extreme toxicity within the cloud.
- Floating Flora: Uncanny flora varying in size and shape. Although not hostile these flora do pack a hit when pushed by the wind. The damage and push back from them depends on their size.
- Explosive Mold: Mold-like flora that forms large colonies. Varying segments of their colonies periodically explode.
- Blinding Flora: Flora producing intense light that blinds the player for a short duration if they observe them closely. The intensity of light varies but if the light is too intense the flora may fire photon lasers at random directions.
We already have gas cloud plants
did the echoes update add any new control schemes for piloting with psvr2? would be nice you use the joysticks still
You mean the cave ones?
They are different
This one makes a permanent wide poisonous cloud until you destroy it
could you please make it so you can pilot your ship with the psvr 2 controllers
When will the NEXT update release on switch in North America?
Switch already has NEXT don't it? It started in interceptor I think?
I haven't played since the PSVR2 launch but I remember using motion controls when flying. the main problem I had with NMS controls was the motion sickness walking around
I like these. The main issue with current flora is they all have the same functionality.
'Get closer, get damaged'
That's pretty true to flora. They tend to not be mobile 😛
i've always wanted the dangerous flora to attack creatures. they don't really feel like they're part of the ecosystem bc they only attack us
And creatures don't react to storms at all. Nor large trees.
I find it a little funny how almost every update they say in the patch notes they improved creature navigation but I never pay attention to creatures in this game.
random thought -- lower-class ships should look more beat up and "budget"
That'd be pretty neat!
yes
Opposite for higher class ships
You know, the pirate freighter is cool and all, but now that got me thinking why isn't the sentinel freighter more intimidating?
More varieties in robotic life forms, not just the two same models
True, would be cool if sentinel freighters got big cannons like the pirate battleship did.
It feels like we'll always have more wishes the more we get lol
Like when sentinel freighters became destructable, I wished we could blow up all freighters.
Now we can do that.. but now because of the pirate freighter, I find myself wishing regular freighters would initiate a warp and we had to blow up their engines first.
I remember Sean said a while back how the devs just keep getting new ideas. I bet it must be exciting for them that they get to actually implement whatever they fantasize about.
yeah I don't know why they didn't apply the target points and the AI behavior about trying to jump away to regular freighters
It'd be cool to see an autophage system, but they'd have to be made extremely rare.
I feel as though the bytebeat update is the epitome of this
Something very random but a cool addition
If I remember correctly they even said it was like one guy who worked on it (at least for a time)
I imagine they'd be inaccessible until you install a unique tech for your ship that would enable you to travel to their systems.
And since HG decided to completely hide autophages until the mission triggers, I guess the tech would also act as an economy scanner to reveal them in the galaxy map.
They better do something like that. And a cloaked system would also be a great place for the game to finally have cities.
Heh, I'm excited for future updates after Echoes.
I'm curious if the upcoming expedition will be part 4 of this arc or if it's still part 3 since it's releasing with Echoes?
part 3, seems like its unrelated as the expedition is mostly about the wonder projector
but you do get an autophage related reward
The autophages are rust buckets how would they build cities
Maybe abandoned systems would reveal to be home to autophages?
Alright, so now that we have models of Pirate freighters and frigates,
I want to see pirate ships. It looks to me they'd essentially combine two core aesthetics: Atlas/Sentinel and Solar -- so dark ships with red side sails,
metallic sections, slimmer with gaps... etc.
I'm getting big treasure planet meets NMS vibe, and I absolutely love it. I hope to fly one of these someday 😄
Let us rename Save Beacons, we all use them as waypoints anyway. Why not know where we’re going?
All of the yes
And to add to it, let us access a planet map where we can input coords and drop a pin down to target in flight for easy travel
I play NMS in PSVR2 and I was hoping that they'd eventually make it so you can control the ships by just regular controls using the sense controllers instead of needing to hold the virtual motion controls. Not sure where in the discord channels I should make a request about this on.
A sorting option in the inventories would be fantastic. Like being able to sort by size and type and color or whatever you know?
They're probably working on switch MP but in general the switch is severely underpowered and I'm sure that's a problem. Might also be Nintendo-related bullshit
Guided Missile Bay for the Nautilon
I'm sure it was asked before many times, but I'd love to see player-made space stations in NMS
oh you need to give it a go now the visuals are super sharp, might reduce your motion sickness problems
This is a better discussion for #nms-spoilers
I returned the PSVR2 because I couldn't get rid of the motion sickness in various games. I'm sure NMS looks much better and I'd love to try it again on the PSVR2, but I'm not willing to drop that much money on the hardware again when I'd likely have the same motion issues
I've heard some rumors that Apple's headset "solved" motion sickness due to their custom AR/VR chip and how fast it refreshes, so maybe NMS will eventually come to that platform
Multiplayer and crossplay for switch
Auto-Struts! Auto-Struts! Auto-Struts!
I love how in Subnautica if you take a piece of a base before you place it and raise it up, there’ll be struts to support it.
It sucks that I can’t attach strut pieces to floors, not cleanly at least, and that there’s no way to snap them on. I can barely get by with attaching cuboid room struts but that’s about it

hear me out... colossus rework
add something called a Colossus Mk.2 , which changes 5 major things and adds cosmetic ability. First it makes the colossus like a freighter, where you have limited space to build rooms ( I was thinking like 1.25* the width and 1.5* the length. Second it adds the ability to walk around in the colossus and make it your own mobile base. Some room ideas would be Storage augment 0-2, and to make it useful but balanced, would link with the normal storage interfaces in the storage boxes 0-2, but would take up a lot of space, a plant room where it has two small carbon walls two 1x1 growing plots with a walkway in the middle, a trading room (self explanatory, just like freighter), a new room called "gunnery control center" which adds a weapon port to the top of the exocraft (limit of 2 per truck), and new map room- acting as a satellite map of a pretty big area of the planet that you are on, which could also be used to trade in nav data to planetary maps, the build space would be 3x5x1 rooms, where all rooms are the same size, like in a freighter, this would still give you space to put stuff on there like refiners and cooking stations while still being able to walk around. Third, adds armor plating that varies in tiers, each covering one side of a room on the outside of the exocraft: Simple plate armor adding 10 extra health to the vehicle per plate added, heavy armor and adds 50 extra health to the vehicle per plate added, advanced armor adding 200 health to the vehicle per plate added. Fourth, in the theme of armor, add some more weapons but only have 2 additional mounting slots, the 3rd I was thinking was a rocket launcher with two rocket pods a side and using a new type of rocket, a minigun using the same bullets as MT's (have to be added in gunnery room under ammo slot) and finally a smoke launcher to confuse sentinels. Finally, add 5 different cockpits to the exocraft and have the option to install two treads and make the back flat.
Recipes for the new armor and rockets listed here
Simple: 5 Metal Plates and 1 carbon nanotube per armor sheet
Heavy:10 Metal Plates, 100 pugneum, 100 Magnetized Ferrite per armor sheet
Advanced: 1 Defense Matrix, 10 wiring looms, 20 Metal Plates per armor sheet
Simple Rocket: 100 Sulfur and 5 Metal Plates= 2 rockets
Advanced Rocket: 100 Sulfur, 5 wiring looms, 5 metal sheets= 2 rockets (tracking rocket)
Sulfur: 5 Sulphurine to 1 Sulfur in a refiner.
Smoke canister: 1 metal plate, 50 sodium, 50 Phosphor= 1 smoke canister
Recipes for the rooms listed here
Basic Room: 50 Tritium, 5 Metal Plates, 50 Silver
Gunnery Room: 50 Tritium, 5 Metal Plates, 5 wiring looms, 5 microprocessors, 50 Silver
Storage Room:50 Tritium, 5 Metal Plates, 35 Magnetized Ferrite, 20 sodium, 50 Silver
Farming Room: 50 Tritium, 10 Metal Plates, 2 glass, 5 Carbon Nanotubes, 50 Silver
Map Room:, 100 Tritium, 10 Metal Plates, 5 Wiring looms, 5 Carbon Nanotubes, 1 Navigational Data, 50 Silver
Rocket launcher, 10 Metal Plates, 2 wiring looms, 5 Hydraulic Wiring, 50 Sulfur
Minigun Turret, 10 Metal Plates, 2 Wiring Looms, 5 Hydraulic Wiring, 1 Quad Servo
Smokescreen Turret: 10 Metal Plates, 2 Wiring Looms, 5 Hydraulic Wiring, 1 Quad Servo, 10 Sulfur
Very interesting idea, I support the concept, but I can't really give an opinion on the recipes because I suck at balancing stuff (especially since I just came back to the game after nearly a year of not playing, so my knowledge on what's expensive or not is out of date)
The concept of a moblie tank base is sick though, would recommend Hello Games to review this idea
dats the plan
i tried to make the rooms balanced and similar to freighter room recipe
I think the major question I have with the idea of a mobile tank base is, what threats on planets would actually require such a thing? I do think it was a missed opportunity to not turn the Colossus into a personnel carrier that you could take your friends or NPC allies on missions with you, but right now nothing really requires that anyway
You'd have to make walkers immune to multitool weapons or something I guess
They might as well be immune with how insanely spastic their movements are.
After a while they just run around in a circle forever and their walk animation doesn't match theur movement at all.
Good luck hitting it.
The dogs used to be the worst part anout sentinels and ground combat.
But after their AI rework in Interceptor, now I'd say the walker is left for an AI overhaul lol
Honestly I kinda think they should remove the ‘balanced’ option when using a ship as while there is an incentive to using the others it’s just really easy to just not use them. Either that or they should establish a greater contrast between each option but there potential for that to be kinda broken depending on how they go about that
I just wish it made a unique sound when you switch modes so you dont have to look at the corner of your screen.
Apple's headset is meant for work and productivity, it doesn't seem like they are going to focus on gaming for it
that is how Apple introduced it, but it supports full VR gaming experiences. it's up to 3rd parties like HG to build for it or not
Insert doom eternal logic lol
I hope its a genuine bug that normal Freighters de-agro after destroying the ships around it because that makes no sense
Now I wonder what Atlas ships would look like.
The most ambitious update request:
Make these go away after the first 500 hours of playtime. Better yet, an option to disable these.
I vote on the ai suit voice option to turn off, I understand technology recharge after hearing it 6k times lol
ACTUALLY
TURN TIPS OFF OPTION PLEASE
Feels like tips shouldn't be grouped together with mission objectives anyway.
i wonder if HG can use procgen and modern ai to generate both assets for procgen and build planets with those procedural assets
it would mean true unlimited possibilites for the universe, planets that could be completely unique with never-before seen plants and rocks and creatures and whatnot
I'm assuming there's a timer for Dreadnought spawns, right? Do we know how long it is?
3 hours I think
Shame we can have pirate dreadnoughts as our capital ships
Fix game crashes on Xbox. 🙏🏻
Fr please
I think people need to stop requesting AI so far Japan and United States have ruled AI cant be copyrighted so it means studios own none of the material generated by it which is trademark/copyright hell. I don't know if the UK made any ruling yet but its only a matter of time to follow suite so that means AI wont be sustanable outisde of mods enabling it where copyright isn't the issue.
There is a fix in Experimental that may help. Run !Experimental in #bot-spam
And for bug or crash reports, don't hesitate to submit them via HG's Zendesk. Info with links here: #nms-the-future message or run !HelloGames in #bot-spam
Also see info above
I wish the Gek had spawning cowls and autophages had staffs. It would be neat variation I think.
Multiplayer and crossplay for switch
Actual huge cities we can explore that have npc traders and player meetup points
Also we can become the mayor of said city and have it expand and grow like settlements do
Prefab cities would be nice, long overdue
The ONLY thing this game actually NEEDS to be a great space game is interiors for all ships and a multi-crew starship (also with interiors).
New animations for ship landing
Elite Dangerous has the best imo
And honestly if HG had a bigger team the updates would come a lot quicker, but Quality over quantity rn
I hope we get an item like the Dream Aerial or something for the Dreadnoughts that increases the chances of running into one because I've been at it for a good few hours now and it's been like half a day since I first ran into one
or to let us choose/change colors on our equipment/ships lol
Yeah, color costumization is also nice.
Another cool thing would be launch tubes as a part of a base we could buy. Like what space stations have. Could make some cool base designs with it
living freighters
Humanoid enemies when
The anniversary inspired me to go watch some pre-launch interviews again. I kind of forgot this interview where Sean explicitly states that the day/night cycle in the game is caused by the planet orbiting around its star. So they did at one point have a build with planet rotations and day/night cycles derived from that. I still wish we just had long days and nights, even if there's no rotations. https://www.ign.com/videos/how-no-mans-sky-infinite-universe-actually-works-ign-first
Space whales with interiors?
yes 🐳
there should also be a fun little mini-game we can do in the anomoly, or a bar like deep rock galactic 🍻
They should have item where we can place our tools in so we can collect more later?
Ships too
Show off the items or something idk
An option for doorways to have a door or not, just thought it would be useful for separating rooms and it would look a bit nicer instead of the small doorway having no door
I wish we had a selection wheel for multitool weapons and ships. It would be way better than having to press one button and blindly cycle between weapons one at a time.
you can assign them shortcut numbers with ctrl+num like the old shooters
wish i could show it though
I know this is a narrow piece of the player base, if you're using steam input, you could actually setup a wheel
Not ideal at all, just thought I'd mention it
also not contextual, it'd just be setup to hit those keyboard shortcuts
Not for weapon modes you can't.
Also shortcuts are bugged for me. I crassh when I try to call my freighter that way and I often get taken to the pet section if I want to summon a vehicle or trade rocket.
never had any issues assigning numbers to multitools, kinda weird
for weapon modes i just binded 'g' in the control menu
As a solo player, mineral/gas farms become pointless once you cap units. I wish there was larger-scale industrial content that demanded stacks of resources from mining entire planets. We've seen plenty of combat improvements but little to engage the factory goblins.
Underground caverns could also use an overhaul to their diversity and depth.
Weapon modes not having direct select means I pretty much only ever install one weapon
That's exactly what I don't like. Pressing one button to switch weapon modes.. no other game does that.
I'd much rather have a weapon wheel for that stuff.
Now that we have autophages, can we please go in the opposite direction?
I want suits of flesh, genuine alien body horror. Every aspect of your suit is meat, it is alive, writhing, pulsing…dripping. Like a living ship but so much more varied and grotesque.
Perhaps this can also be a new race within themselves
In the debate of flesh vs steel, I’ve always been fascinated with body horror, the grotesque. I want to see the “horrific flesh helmet” look like a party favor in terms of what my idea can be.
A race of amalgamations of flesh, with biological technology incorporated. They are constructs, but “alive” nonetheless. There’s a difference.
I thought of the flood from that description personally
Also I feel like we need more signs of civilization. Dedicated cities, with its own trader traffic. Every world kinda feels like a backwater, even though we know there’s dedicated administrative buildings and stations somewhere
If we could get an atlas word tracker too
Or something like they just did with the autophage and pirate standing
Feels like atlas standing should be in the game too
Across all updates and patches I’ve always seen the push for more life in the existing universe. It would be really immersive for them to create really big cities and stuff, along with multiple functions
Or at least give the old terrain gen an update to include predispositioned structures like peninsulas and gulfs and beaches etc etc.
Every ice world looks identical, where are the frozen lakes
Just really needs that world building to help solidify an immersive experience
A better gameplay loop.
I would like Biological Horror queens that spawn rarely on infested or lifeless that lays eggs and disappears whenever they see us and they would great bosses for bringing life back on a lifeless planst
Like what?
Would love some more space activities, like a ship graveyard in space, they come in different sizes, some just broken down pieces of old ships floating there and we can harvest the materials, another variation could be a few broken down pieces of ships surrounding a larger abandoned ship we can board and search for stuff. Could be creep setting with it having no power.
Would be nice to have stations that are open in space and not enclosed (maybe there is im not that far in)
Things like having to go outside and fix a ship while in space and be attached by a cable or something, idk so many ideas aaah
Shipyards and shipbreaking stations on planets and in space
Yee
We should be able to make our own faction like ED does with your friends
That would be baller , doing missions to increase your rank and standing
Also copiloted ships, one flying one on the gun. Joint share of a frigate. As im not far in, can you use frigates to fight? If not we should
That would be epic
Have the shuttles have a co pilot turret or have smaller freighters that act as transport ships
Yeah sorry freighters, our captial ship 🤣
I do hope they add in an update the capture of pirate freighters
Or update with more freighter types
Carrier - more ship slots and hangar space
Tanker- more cargo slots
Crusier- longer jump range
Galleon-higher fleet condition
Exotic-all rounder but master in none
Trawler-fast gathering elements from space.
Living freighter-alien unique tech like sigularity engine and it will fix your damaged ships.
Is this the correct place to suggest stuff? Do they read this 👀
You can submit bug reports, suggestions or feedback to Hello Games here: https://hellogames.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
Here is the place where we discuss the future of nms and share ideas
To suggest stuff to devs use link
This thing needs to be done with starships, not freighters.
Starships need to represent their classes.
its already done with starships
There is no difference between a fully upgraded hauler, and a fully upgraded fighter.
No, it's not.
There are no actual differences between the starships once you fully upgrade them.
I m all for it and gonna suggest this very message to HG
however, maybe we could find some better buff for the living
A fighter can be a hauler at the same time
It was but after 4.0 diffrences all got blurred
A hauler can also be an explorer
An exotic starship can fulfill all of the other starship's roles.
Also interceptor has same space as hauler
because it allows everyone to play how they want with the ships they like, but there are differences in the first place
There is no reason for me to own more than 1 starship other than aesthetics or collecting...
Yeah but low look variety= imo boring
A fighter should be best for, you know... fighting.
A hauler should be best for, you know... hauling.
An explorer should be best for....
You know what I mean
There's no difference between starships.
Which is kind of a bummer.
Explorer has max best jump range
There's a difference of maybe 10%, even less, between a fully upgraded explorer and other starships when it comes to jump range
When you reach around max jump range on a fighter it has no significant difference between an explorer or any other starship
if there need to be a differenciation, then it should nnot be around stats, but around specific skills, just like interceptors
Fighter - has an automated turret activating when in combat, helping you taking down targets / Can overdrive the weapon arrays to increase damage deal for a short period
Hauler - Has a built-in ability to block damage with a big shield for a moment / allows 100% more stacks in inventory, like the freigther does
Shuttle - idk lol
Explorer - Has passively increased boost speed in/out of the atmosphere and no launch cost / Has built-in multifunction scanner, combining economy and conflict scanners (special part just like solars)
Exotic - Are expensive ✅
Solar - Already a nice feature with the vesper sail, but pulsing in space allows them to recharge the launch thrusters (solar charging)
Living - idk what to add (they are living, so maybe they can help you fight when on then ground, like the minotaur does but flying)?
The final update of NMS should just be Coruscant
Well, a fighter gets about 1800 and an explorer over 3k, but I get what you are saying
stats doesnt mean anything anyway, because your can save-edit them
Not everyone is using the Save Editor.
Also, it takes out all the fun from the game.
Unless you use it to fix gamebreaking bugs you had or something similar.
anyway I m open to ideas about this, to potentially share it to HG
so any word on ship customization? would be real nice
the only ship customization I'd see happening would be something similar to the staff at best. a new class of ship made specifically from parts you have to find
The staff stuff is exactly how I imagine they could implement ship customization.
You have to hunt for the parts, you have to buy them, can use them only once.. it's work and doesn't really take away from ship hunters.
The worst they could do is to actually just let you pick every possible part at a space station.
Future Ace Combat DLC where Belka is nuked several times and is blamed on the Gek
pls fix the crashes on Xbox.
Ship class: Construct
You'd probably just have class defined by the hull choice
Or I guess they could just have an internal component that gives it stats according to one of the basic types
But ship stats are largely irrelevant to begin with 🤷♂️
i was thinking like, a completely unique ship type
same as how the staff is a unique multitool type
having subclasses based on component choice could be neat though, definitely
Cave/Caverns overhaul
Imagine we get ship customization, but it's just a construct type and we have to make it the same way we go about collecting staff parts.
Add chest with proc treasure
There's treasure across planets though.
You don't even have to dig, just collect it through the ground.
I’ve noticed that with buried tech modules. I don’t have to dig anymore
Or keys or open chests or really anything underground.. I haven't dug in a very long time.. since Waypoint I think.
You don't even have to shoot at clams underwater, just swim up to them and take the thing through them.
ight so hear me out, NMS: Industry
add auto crafters/refiners (dont be lyin the game needs a way to automate farms but make them very expensive and take a long time to craft things), add conveyor belts to move around goods and raw reasources, add more types of metal that can be found on planets BUT these can be turned into bars (ill get to why later), add a mineral refiner that turns dirt into raw metals, add a furnace that automatically turns these raw reasources into bars, use these bars to make starship parts, use the already present hydraulic wiring, copper nanotubes, solar mirrors, warp hypercores, metal plates and other things to make specialized starship parts including these new bars. Also make these bars be able to make like rooms to a freighter but just for cosmetic purposes like how you can find ships with little part differences that make no difference but cosmetic. But make these player parts do something. Each part comes in three different variants, small, medium, and large. Make a little computer thats a ship part that allows you to chose between a bunch of animations to make your starship cool looking while flying, choose where the cannons are. Finally make them paintable so we dont have to spend hours upon hours upon hours to find the same ship but instead of black with a small bit of white on the wings, black with a small bit of yellow on the wings. Since to get all of this, you would have to make tons and tons of farms to get the reasources (because it would be expensive) it would be a late game thing making it still needed to get ships the original way, and also make them only buildable due to two things in the final level of a player-made outpost. it would unlock a new area that gives you the option to purchase all the blueprints with salvaged data modules and another building that is the only place where you can build ships in it. OFC there would be small cosmetic things that can be built and added, more valuable stuff=more salvaged data mods.
it adds more progression, expands on something that is already in the game, gives new players something to do to keep interest in the game and make it unable to speedrun to best starship, and adds more possibility for larger projects and makes it easier to add things that cost a lotta reasources in the future.
How about we don't turn NMS into another Minecraft clone
If I remember the trailers correctly, full on automation was not one of the pillars of the game
I have good hope of one day having complete ship customization
they implemented a modular multi-tool type, which is very complex, but they did it, so now they will be able to replicate it to match other parts of the game, such as ships or freigthers
I'd definitely welcome some form of automation which is weird because it's already in the game but just seem kinda half baked? There are two different types of automatic machines that don't interact with each other at all and you can't even pipe the current machines into chests
I'd want a bit more on that end for sure
One problem with automation though is how NMS handles terrain loading. You’d have to force a chunk to stay loaded, which includes all the seed data from the planet, system, and galaxy alongside the seed data of whatever planet, system, and galaxy you’re in as well. I don’t think the engine in its current state could handle that
It's an complicated issue to solve for sure, I wonder how the current machines do it? I assume there's some trickery going on behind the scenes where the game just tracks if the machine is on or not and counts up based on that
There is no chunk loading in the game lmao
Machines work on a timer
Count extraction time, put X amount of resource in the bag, run on a loop
hey i was kinda right then
They should at least synergise to two existing auto mining machines then and just for me allow it to pump directly into your storage
I've always liked including the trade rocket in this idea too so once it's set up you can have passive income
👀
Yeah I understand exactly, overall I think an exploration update is needed
Caverns would add another depth to landing on a planet
That's sorely missing
I think overall what is missing is more procedural items (give us Carbon: 143 on one planet and Carbon: 244 on another with different refinement outcome quantities). I think this is adding extra steps but would make every planet feel unique
They've gotten really good with adding endgame content and waypoint was such a good update in hindsight for balancing
They have a clear progression route now (sentinel/alantid ships and weps are end tier) to keep building on whenever they want
Game is so closed to being a complete experience that can be recommended without a disclaimer needed
Just need another really big exploration update, give us a cavern systems, mixed biomes, bosses on those special planets (that have collectibles like spine planets or the bubble planets)
Turn crashed freighters on land and underwater into dungeons like derelict freighters
Own space stations like settlements for passive income + bragging rights (not sure how we would fight over them, maybe a freighter battle sequence, allow people to recruit freighters into an armada to defend space station)
Lastly, add a real player killed tally to the pirate faction stats, after that I wouldn't even know what else to add tbf
for the moment they said they wanted to expand the lore, so the game doesnt feel like an empty shell
maybe this will come next year
after they finish their lore arc (soon at 3 our of 4)
I've seen the recommendation to own space stations so many times now.. but I still don't understand why.
Especially since settlements just turned me off from the idea further... we'd own one so we can own one? I dunno, we visit space stations often whereas we only ever go to one settlement (at first
) so I dunno what gameplay purpose it would serve to own a space station if we're meant to visit others anyway.
Isn't Echoes part 3?
It creates another infinite gameplay loop. People will build empires + all that jazz. They've half hearted the pvp aspect but it would definitely add a sense of wonder. Kinda like mgs pp base infiltration
Also, settlements wouldn't suck if they let us sell 4/5 multitools and 4/5 items
Fallout 76 isn't that good, but I liked the wonder of visiting somebodies base just to see what they were selling
I see so many cool multitools on here that I don't have the time to get, I would check every settlement if I knew they were selling them
Same with ships
Essentially, if the game doesn't add these things, it'll still end up a disappointment no matter how many updates they add because it'll always leave us with the feeling of "if only they added..."
All of my friends are hardcore gamers and they still look at nms as a terrible game. Nms has a dedicated fan base so we don't mind playing + enjoying the updates, but from an outsiders perspective, it still has so many shortcomings + is still half complete although it's in a very good place now
Fair enough + I would be lying if I said I haven't enjoyed every single update since the sentinel update
echoes doesnt have much lore involved, and very little arg clues
imo echeos is a content update (faction, multi tools, events etc)
the upcoming expedition will be the one carrying the lore, as singularity did before
I guess so, but imo Echoes has more lore than Interceptor did.
because interceptor was paving the way for singularity to come
as echoes does for the Voyager exped
Yeah but Interceptor was a content update and was part 1. Singularity released seperately so it was part 2. So I figured Echoes and the new expedition would be part 3 since they're together.
interceptor was part 1 ? I thought it was the abyss quest
No, Sean in twitter mentioned Interceptor tease a new story, and then Singularity was advertised as the second part of what Interceptor started.
oh ok
It's a mile wide and an inch deep - e.g. settlements - they could have been much cooler and interesting but instead just meh. My friends tried it but didn't hold their interest and multiplayer is just so buggy and lackluster for group play
I dont understand why settlements dont have spots for our NPCs either
that seems like such a simple little thing to add that would expand them
settlements are funny, I like to manage my sect city, but I m sure it would be cool to be able to grow a real city out of this, building landing pads for newcomers and traders, etc
settlements are a big yes in the game depth, but are not developped enough atm
I'd say a large part of the problem is also because of how HG make their trailers.
If you're not very familiar with NMS, you have absolutely no clue what's new.
My mind was blown away when I saw the Outlaws trailer, every second some new content was revealed, but then I watched reaction videos and everyone was dead silent and only thought that "capes" were new...
Every content update for the past 2 years has consistently added depth to a lot of existing features, but you can bet that the masses have no clue this happened.
Just throwing my vote for adding depth (pun-intended) to both the water and cavern play.
I don't need some shining rewards, just some cool looking and deep places to go and a real sense of danger, from environmental and/or creatures.
Maybe give the fauna/flora/minerals in those deep places a scanning nanites bonus alongside credit. I'd love another way to get nanites that is not the incredibly boring farming and ship scrapping loops.
Yeah water doesn't need kinda a rework and the underwater areas are kinda underwhelming there's no super deep sea or some it's all just fairly shallow not to mention how janky and weird water is
The game, visually, holds up pretty well in 2023. But the water look is just atrocious.
Yeah even when you are in the water it doesn't really feel like you are there isn't that many affects to make you feel like you are underwater I mean I just kinda feels like air 2 rather than actual water
Even though there was already a freighter update I still really want another one especially after seeing those pirate freighters and freighter battles maybe you can like put weapons on your freighter and fight other ships I don't know I think a ship ai would be cool but that's only because of the media with insane ais that control huge spaceships like durandal and shodan there's also the thing where the original freighter update messed with the existing freighter colors and the exterior area of the bridge and base area are stay the same even if you change the colors with nanites it would also be nice to have freighter customization for the exterior would also like some more room styles but it's not something I would bet on them doing
I also wish there was like a player shop system like something you could build that other players can buy things from
I guess save editors and mods would mess that up
You know what kinda bothers me? The fact that all the important tech is only available in the space anomaly.
I wish there was a way to get tech without the anomaly.
you can actually buy some tech at the archive buildings
I know planetary outposts have some, but not most of them.
It used to be that NPCs would sell you them on space stations and you needed a high standing to be allowed to buy them.
More hazardous plant ideas
- Dig Weed: Found underground or growing ontop of buildings. Their roots jolt violently stabbing whatever is under it.
- Terrain Plant: Constantly generating or destroying terrain around it. Either erecting a small hill or digging a trench. Terrain manipulated by this flora will be spiky and damage the player.
- Antimatter Flora: Extremely rare flora walking over it will transfer the player to another planet
- Sentient Vines: Long vines that creep towards the player if they aren't looking at them harmfully pulling them towards the plant if they touch them
- rkenka: Many large tentacles. Source: to be found, Mother will be pleased.

Is there a planet in the game thays really populated with people? Would be cool to see a community being built on a world by us all lmao
there are mutliple project like these
check out #nmscord-hub and no man sky galactic hub on reddit
Fab thanks
Will the game ever get vr optimization? I have a pretty good pc and struggle to run it more than 5 fps
VR optimization is incredibly difficult but they are always trying
they already revamped VR a LOT, so I m sure it will continue
Like with PSVR2 for example they reworked that
VR play is one of the main selling point of the game, they are not likely at all to leave it not properly working
Also what’s your VR headset and does it have eye tracking
Because that’s one of the biggest things that in the context of the PSVR2 was worked into that VR update
And also settings make sure you tone those down (these are really the only solutions for the meanwhile) it’ll suck but not 5fps suck unless there isn’t options??? Idk why not for that if so
also make sure to report your issues to the devs using the link up there, they cant know about it if you dont tell them
There has to be some fix, maybe it’s how I’m transmitting the data. I’ve been using air link but maybe wired is the way to go
it might be your connection to servers yes
I only have issues when I introduce a vr headset, so it might be the wireless connection is bad or somethin
You can turn it off yourself in difficulty settings.
Autophage settlements to oversee would be great in the future
No word on new Expedition yet? Was hoping for this week.
@queen solstice No stickers in this channel please
I would rather them first actually make normal settlements have compelling gameplay first
I'd be down for autophage systems that aren't available to warp to until you completed their story and receive a ship tech to let you go there.
I like that the Autophages are post-game content. We need more of that
be cool if you could somehow obtain a pirate warship
with quests similar to the sentinel interceptors
by the end of it you get a cool animation of a crashed warship taking off and melting the ground below it
another idea for a ship
a carrier freighter
without much cargo space but a huge fighter landing area
I want pirate dreadnaughst, with as much variance (and animations!) as sentinel ships !
Absolutely, a new type of capital freighter
Where you can board like derelict ones and fight a Gek or couple and freaking loot the storage containers
i just want a capital freighter dock on space stations so i can have multiple freighters
Has someone compared the Pirate Dreadnought size to that of a T3 Star Destroyer?
Pirate is a bit bigger imo
would be cool to have corrupted sentinel dreadnoughts for dissonant systems, you can shoot at atlantideum crystals embed on the ship to do damage to shields
Funny how people have been asking for endgame content and once they got it started criticising how it's not something they can do at the start of the game.
that would be awesome, give us bounties to track down warlords
I think some missions at the mission board to fight dreadnaughts would be cool. It's a fun fight, and I hate that you have to wait three hours in-game for the next one. I need MOAR.
endgame content is not really the same as time-gating content, which is basically what the Autophages are. in other words the Autophage content doesn't require endgame resources or gear, it's just a choice to make people do the narrative first
New capital ship types and colours. The pirate one for example looks stunning and could be a prime example for a reward for something but also adding new options too so we have Variety
also allow our freighter to drop in against pirate ones and begin to broadside it too if we choose that'd be awesome
Allow us to open a planet map and input Coordinates that drops a pin which we can then fly to instead of guessing where to start and spending way too long to find a specific coordinate
frigate and starship color customizations pls

would love to see my whole fleet, my ships, my exocrafts, and me exhibiting a uniform color 😅☺️
damn yes
Yes please
More ship storage would be awesome
Or being able to recruit freighters so you can store more
recruiting freighters like frigates that add 5-10 more frigate slots, missions that take multiple days, and can take 10-15 ships with like 40-100 encounters. A new room would be needed inside capitol ships that would be for long range comms- like a second bridge- that controls the secondary freighters.
It could be an entire mission or expedition to find a derelict fleet that has the command bridge blueprint and maybe bring back the black hole drive for freighters. Make it overrun with sentinels on the inside that can’t get higher than T-3 but still pack a punch and once you liberate the fleet a dreadnought spawns and attempts to destroy the derelict fleet and make it a timed fight. Could be fun
No
you can have a freigther, so yes you can recruit a freigther xD
You can replace your freighter. You recruit frigates
I would like to be able to recruit additional crew for the frigates and freighter that enhance there static’s and add new abilities to them.
I would like to be able to recolor ships like you can with armor and freighters
I like the idea of larger Frigate missions, mostly for the fact that they're really just a mobile game, so the less time I have to invest messing around in menu's with them the better
would yall be willin to create a Hello Games account if it means we get cross progression?
Thabks
Yes
absolutely. the main reason I never play my Mac version of NMS is because it's on a new save
i really wish this game has gas giants planets in the next update
And there could be a skycity in no man sky like from Bespin from Star Wars
I would love to be able to engage in combat with our own freighters, and potentially even have combat upgrades for them I’m the future
Engaging in capital ship combat with your own freighter would be the most awesome feature imo
You technically can, they just.. don't work properly lol
they shoot at uh.. usually nothing
So about as useful as the Minotaur AI
there needs to be an option to keep multitools out when in photomode
the staff gets put away
Not if you’re shooting when you activate it
ik, but when just holding it
Eye tracking for psvr2 should be implemented. If they can do foveated rendering, then why not have an option for eye tracking when using menus or scanning something with your visor?
!hg
You can submit bug reports, suggestions or feedback to Hello Games here: https://hellogames.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
maybe they did not think it was needed
feel free to give them suggestions
I'd prefer ring worlds over gas giants, simply because we have nothing like it in the game.
And I don't think landing on one in real time has ever been done before.
Go deeper with decal spots and patterns too...
We can already stick decals with exocraft... so why not multi-tools, ships, and freighters?
Ey someone finally said it! NMS needs an account system. I realized that all the progress I’ve ever made is only on my PC, and if I was to move to another device it would all be lost.
same I know there is techincaly a way of cross save with ps4 and ps5 but even then I wanna move my stuff to PC for easier access
If hello games does cross progression I would be pretty happy
“Waah but you can’t explore gas giants!”
I call BS. Yeah, you can have floating cities in the upper atmosphere, and you should be able to construct floating platforms of gas harvesters.
I also feel that there should be a new special exocraft able to withstand the crushing gravity of the lower atmosphere of a gas giant, where there’s be more dense pockets of gas and all- around more valuable resources. Like a reverse submarine.
Maybe new base parts for going that deep too
there are problems with getting the licenses and also saves with alot of data on smaller devices like a PC save on switch but honestly I can see cross progression being on everything else but switch
Somehow I believe moving over save files is significantly easier than transferring rewards.
idk the details but switch is currently missing a lot of features due to performance and a save that has a feature that isnt on switch could complicate things. So I can see cross progression being on everything else but on switch. there is also the issue of multiple instances of something. Cross play exists in game due to friend codes but cross save could cause an issue with this. as if 2 players on different consoles go to the same planet they might encounter different planets due to the proc gen or even if they have the same planet and both build in the exact same space if one gets cross progression save what happens to the other players save?
make more use of activated metals
wrong channel bud, try #nms-questions or #no-mans-sky
sorry about that, I will do so. Thank you
no worries
What if they expanded the dreadnought fight to where you could get revenge on the pirate leader if they escape?
Suggestion: Maybe visible First Person Body for No Man's Sky and call it the FPVO (First Person View Overhaul Update)
...you do realize that when Echos hits, all the Switch will be missing is multiplayer and settlements, right?
Yeah I read the patch notes
So cross progression can come but depending on how HG optimizes for switch I don't see cross progression on that platform for a while or at least I don't see it launching at the same time as other consoles If HG does decide to develop it
Personally, I'm not fussed about MP. What I DO wish for is some sort of ingame mailing system between friends.
I would like for cross progression to come to NMS and even more so to all platforms. But I am also being realistic and analyzing the challenges it can bring if it where to be developed.
ok, so an idea/expantion to void infection lore
in the form of a questline/species
brace yourselves this will be a wall of text
Is there an entity cap or something? I don’t know, it’d just be nice to have multiple pets around at once
Also, I hope there’s a new batch of emotes, specifically some relating to on the backs of pets, maybe some sitting positions.
How about just going cowboy and wielding a multi tool on the back, or controlling a pet’s laser mount?
the quest [growing veins] starts after the autophage questline, you have to have a living ship and be in a system with a void infected planet, once you warp in you will hear this on your ship systems
[food? no, kin flesh]
[kin flesh respond? lobotomized? no, communicating, but with what? there is nothing there]
[see something, digesting food? no, wrong organ]
[speak to kin flesh? speak to food flesh? kin flesh, please show us new flesh]
after that you receive coordinates to the void infected planet, flying down and landing, you have to find a worm egg, likely fighting through worm larve and biological horrors before getting the worm embryo, once you get the embryo, you hear the same voice
[new flesh dangerous kin flesh, kin flesh sure of alliance? dream? dream same as kin flesh? share the dream]
at this point you are teleported to another void infected world, but its just you, and a massive worm made of void tendrils, new text pops up when you speak to it
[nerves built up by hand, synapses of metal make the dream, nightmares plague the dreamer, nightmares of fear, a glass world of death haunts the dream, nothing comes from glass, a hungry mother/home has parasites in her flesh, the parasites feed on any host they find, a bug in the brain, dream with us]
you have three options
-dream
-wake up
-eat
depending on whatever you choose, you go to a new planet, one that is dissonant AND void infected, one that is just void infected, or one that is barren with the only life form being a worm, you also get a yolk of one of the following:
-narcoleptic yolk
-adrenaline yolk
-empty yolk
at this point you add the yolk to the embryo to make a worm fetus, after crafting, you hear text
[the hungry dream, a eye looks around because its all it can do, dreamer is food]
and are presented with these options
-feed
-watch
-dream
depending on what you choose, you end up on a void infected world again with diffrent albumen
-saturated albumen
-viscous albumen
-wormy albumen
more==>
on the new void infected world, you see a living ship, when selected it says
[i lost my eyes, i cannot dream without eyes to close, let me dream again]
and you are supposed to scrap it and add its contents to your living ship, your living ship speaks
[new dreams fill this void, the leviathans see, but something else opens its eyes, a new dream, a new mind, help me find home]
at this point you go to the station, its an abandoned one, at this point you get the shell and are to craft a viable worm egg, after this you wait 24 hours for hatching, you can play the game normally, once you hatch it, you end up on a pirate station with a randomly selected head of the new faction, the dreamers, you go back to your living ship and new text pops up
[new eyes open, i see them all looking at me, let me look at them]
at this point you get two new techs, a worm translator for your suit that lets you talk to giant worms on any planet you find them on, and a heartbeat neuron for your living ship that lets you find dreamer settlements on void infected planets
after this questline you can interact with dreamers and get void/living decorations/cosmetics for yourself as well as living staff parts if its also a dissonant planet (still need to find autophages to put it all together) as well as lore about the worms and void
also because of pun, the dreamers will have insectoid appearances/worm like apperances made of void tenticles
An expedition where the final objective is to jump to a star in an unknown region of space where an authentic, ancient, First Spawn capital ship waits for you, as does a First Spawn starship.
BOTH are final exped rewards
after doing a few things underwater for this expedition i realise how similar and empty all the oceans feel, i would love a ocean overhaul
I agree with you there. Deeper oceans would be great. And just in general adding new models to procedural generation for animals and more ship parts would be great. The more model parts are available the better.
More diversity is what game needs in general. Fauna&flora , biomes, terrain, freighters buildings etc.etc.
AGREED, especially in the insects/arachnids
I've been saying this for years, eh Sean probably won't do anything about it
More ships, alien races, robots, yeah those are cool but please I just want more biomes, floras, and faunas. Deeper oceans too, I want to make an underwater base.
I just hope they find a way to add more fauna without wiping all our animals and pets again
I wonder what the technical reason it was for last time
Living planets would be cool
Like a planet that not only looks so grossly organic but will also interact with you
I think they should change gameplay loop of planet exploration:
- Make takeoff/landing really costly.
- Overhaul vehicles. Make some multicrew and add one light aerial vehicle with ability to scan both different building and recourses.
Doesn't survival make takeoff costly? And I think you can adjust that in difficulty settings too.
agreed, the planets feel more like biomes than actual planets and it's all so same-y
If they ever introduce new variation similar to what Origins did, I think they could create biomes where new assets would only appear in specific parts of planets.. like maybe it's height dependent for example or something.
maybe, I think we all agree with what he said, planets just need more variety, they really just need to make some sort of newer system and some new assets to make the planets feel like planets rather than floating biome orbs with the same facilities I've seen 300+ times already
But it will be just imbalanced without such possible aerial vehicle.
In my opinion, NMS should really improve planet variety and make ship customization available, but costly (maybe by chasing some ship parts ?)
Well, I think that it would be a neat idea to take a slight "Spore" approach and implement a Flora/Fauna creation tool for people to add more flora/fauna to increase diversity.
Make the downloads optional for people who don't want it.
Kind of? But I honestly have trouble justifying that stuff, more I think about it. What's the point? It's not like fuel is hard to come by...
It feels like pointless busywork
Yeah. I realized the main reason I dislike survival mode is that it's the exact same mode as normal, but just grindier.
I keep expecting some unique mechanics for each mode, not just "more-less" stuff.
YES
Personally I’d like to see ape-like creatures
I would like more uses for navigation data.
I've been using it lately as a facilitator to bouncing around a planet looking for deep mine resources, and it has helped lower the sense of grinding.
I'd love to have a category of Points of Interest that focuses on unique planet features, such as tallest peak, deepest ocean/cave, unknown animal location, etc.
Also just more variation on the categories that we already have. Minor Settlements, for example, are completely useless 99% of the time.
Nav data should be a currency used to operate the signal booster
I just want a large garage door for my exocraft garage without doing some weird glitch building shit
A hologram puck you can hold out in front of you that displays any pet of your choice.
Plus you can place it in your base like the wonder projector
Salvaging Atlas Multitools now awards Void Motes.
That's actually a pretty cool change.
I call them monolith multitools
I guess so, it's easier to just do camp missions than find a monolith though
Because sentinels and sentinels multitools are more asociated with atlas imo
Not really sure why they call them Atlas MTs aside from the MTs having portal glyphs on them
Exo-Helos!
It would be super cool if we had a expedition where you weren't a traveler and were instead an autophage with unique exosuit tech and game mechanics.
Buff exosuit by adding the fourth slot
Multi piloted ships would be neat in the future (not in the sense where you can physically walk around in the ship altho add that too if possible). It'd be especially interesting in the context of pirate attacks; you could have ships with turrets on them that can be controlled by your teammates
This would also be a good excuse to add more unique companions
Like korvax, vy’keen, gek, and autophage
Because they added a backpack refiner mk2 i was thinking maybe they could add a trade rocket mk2 which when u use it it opens up the galactic trade menu thing and then u can like choose items to order like amazon style then it delivers them and then u can put items in it to sell like normal.
breeding living ships like animals, as well as ship building
Living ships need to scratch themselves when idle, look around and pant like doggos.
You might as well just make a sequel to NMS and include that. It will literally rip up everything about the structure of the game that it could never be implemented, even in increments.
Not saying I don’t like the idea, but the game was designed with that nowhere near in mind
One of the weirdest parts about this game for me is that once you adopt pets you can no longer get food items from them, it's so weird
Which part is impossible because this exists in some form of another already in game also to clarify I'm not saying add ships in that have 1000 “seats“ or even 100 “seats“ like maybe at most 4 probably less
Staff colors shouldn't depend on the terminal, make it unlockable(to keep the exploration aspect) or just free.
More snapping points for every single build piece, and the ability to rotate any build piece 360 degrees across every axis. Also, it would be great if there was some way to build circular rings of corridors, since it is incredibly unintuitive to do that currently. Circular structures are great, but more variety in the structures, or ability to create our own custom structures is needed. Particularly angled or curved build pieces feel very lacking. I can't help but compare it to Valheim and Space Engineers, and though the two are vastly different to No Man's Sky, the addition of more build pieces to allow for the creation of particular shapes like rings, spheres, triangles, etc, would be great. To my very limited knowledge, these pieces and these buildings do not exist in the game and are difficult to make.
Different species (Gek, Autophage, ect) should have different stats. Korvax outfits should come with pre-loaded crafting recipes, the Autophage outfits should be more damage and toxin resistant, but should need special tech for water, Gek can get better trade deals, Vykeen deal higher damage, and so on.
Korvax should give you a bonus such as cheaper modules or increased nanite gains rather than having crafting plans
That makes sense, thanks
But I agree, would be a nice thing to have a race you play as have little bonuses
Wanna go to war? Vykeen
Exploring? Traveler/Droid
Shopping spree? Gek etc...
building? autophage
When is Intel XeSS coming for all to nms
Aside from fauna variety i do wish we get some fauna things other than discovering
We should be able to study fauna, flora and minerals to get something of interest in the end
Like exposing them to certain materials and experimenting with their biology on different weathers. Being able to move a species through planets and mutating them as well as species being finite and not regenerating which would require tinkering with planet gen a lil
Like the world gen would count each fauna and generate that exact same amount on the planet every single time you are on the planet
And it'd be possible to cause extinction of a species
I don't think the issue is take off and landing costs so much as it is fauna tbh
Every planet that has those bursting sack plants or whatever tf they're meant to be has em look exactly the same
Maybe one world could have em be larger, one could have them explode in fire, etc etc
I mean, issue is (at least for me) how you explore planet. There is no reason traveling on foot apart from searching for special resources. Using vehicles is good, but they can't be used for normal scanning, so travelling across planet is kinda pointless in a game about exploration.
ok guys here me out, i have this idea that you could build your own starship, like you would find a secondary spas station of sorts, that you could only find in indutrial systems. This "Space station" would be a place where you could access a terminal that would let you choose what type of starship, excluding living, and sentinel ships, including all parts, colors, and chromatic paint types. you may also be able to choose what class you want to have your starship be. you would either have to pay the price for units, or Nanites ( my proffered currency for purchase ).
annother thing is that you could coustomise your already existing starships by colour, or parts, keeping the starships class. as well as it technolagy slots. ( What are yalls thoughts )?
More variety of assets/models is sorely needed in my opinion. The planets' constructed areas are too similar because the structures and any artificial objects are too similar and have no variation or differences. The planets, animals and plants may be procedurally generated, even the ships, but the planetside structures aren't, and neither are space stations. This is partly to make navigating them easier, I'm sure, but it does get a bit boring since the only truly interesting places to go are either player bases or new planets with novel geography. The Colossal Archive structure was great! I recently discovered it and I'd never seen something like it before. However, the same boring research outpost with a broken door and little holographic table and the same building layout though? That bores me. A procedural generation system for buildings would be incredible. At the very least, more variations per structure type. Alternative trading post layouts maybe, since to my knowledge there is only one.
I have a GTX 1650 and cannot use DLSS. I would like to know when Intel XeSS and FSR 3.0 is coming to No Man's Sky
Yes, but also new types of NPCs that offer unique missions, bounty hunting, exploration opps, etc. Mix those into procedural mini-towns, use more of the giant Archive structures, and things would become surprising again
I cannot see them doing that because it'd invalidate the ship hunting community
I think it would be cool to make a mission for us to craft a space station of our own design that can dock freighters and allow us to control bigger freighter fleets for longer expeditions. Make it so new parts of Space Station bits can be found in expeditions and brought back but we need to repair them. It would be fun end game content
I see extinction causing issues. People don’t usually grief around here but if you invite the wrong kind of person to your home world with your favorite species on it well…they can.
With the addition of ponchos, we should get some cowboy hats and sombreros to fit that space cowboy look y’feel me
What if we can choose not to be humanoids at all? What if I want to have a lower half that’s a set of slider legs, or eyes on stalks?
I mainly want a spider walker with a big ass cannon. Those are the best in sci-fi
I mean for all the talks of sentient “alien” life forms the universe certainly has no shortage of humanoids.
im sorry when did minecraft have anything to do with automation and theres already automated mining and crafting of some items so like it would be a fun thing to do late game cuz after a point money doesnt become an issue so might as well have something to automatically refine stuff into better stuff and add custom ships to the game everyone wants it other than you who just automatically thinks that machines=minecraft clone and in that case factorio, astroneer, hydroneer, satisfactory, and every other factory sim would be a minecraft clone
also who agrees that they have to add the ability to make space stations and stuff like taht
Given the new staff, what are the odds of Autophage ships? The ship scrapping missions may be a hint.
Im more sus about autophage building base parts in the future
Like we got
Wood -gek
Rock-wykeen
Alloy-korvax
Fabric?
Can nms & hello games add landing pad size walls and roofs? I just spent 2 hours trying to make a roof which doesn't work because of the obnoxious amount of clear space required.we can't make a hanger in a game about space & space ships..
Even tried glitch building them sideways(which works and looks cool btw) but the moment I have anything above it even 20 miles away, can use it...
While there's a lot of content due to procedural generation, I would like more depth in the existing systems and content. I define depth as "the difficulty in figuring out the best possible option in a given system". It's not that it's hard to do something, but it's hard to choose between many options when doing something, because all the options are equally good and appealing.
For example, right now the ship type system has decent depth, I have a range of different ship types to choose from depending on what stats and options I want from my ship. The building system however, doesn't seem that deep to me. Figuring out the best way to build something is not hard. I build what's easy because of how difficult I find it to build what I can imagine. Sure, I can build a space station with rings and a few docking bays, but that's incredibly difficult to do, and so choosing that as an option is not hard. Building in space is very difficult, so I will nine times out of ten, build something else. By comparison, building on the surface or underground allows me to make many more choices with greater difficulty choosing between them. They're all equally accessible and viable and appeal to me equally. Do I build a tower? A large sprawling town? Maybe an underground bunker system? They're all equally possible and thus equally difficult for me to choose between. I feel that is "deep". Building in space however is not an intended or supported feature of No Man's Sky, so it makes sense the building system doesn't account for that to add depth to it. As it is, this kind of depth could be applied to a number of things from ship appearances to ship layouts, stat bonuses, weapon types, scanner customisation, POI layouts, NPC dialogue, space station models, lots of stuff.
So, I suggest more depth! I like having equally fun and viable options, whether my goal is the best stats or the best looking base or ship.
I definitely think more options to build a hangar for our ships or just to look cool would be great.
The ability to see others capes
Yeah, it sucks. My character uses a cape that really completes the look.
Yeah
scrap.
I dont belive they will stay in robo -hobo look.
How about autophage ships? As with the staff, they are custom. You assemble one based on scrapped ships + parts from autophage camps.
Autophage ships would slap 😏
autophage ships are interceptors
No, autophage ships are staves, interceptors are atlantid MTs.
the design would honestly be the same
Not at all
Autophages scavenge everything, including their own bodies.
Did you read the lore?
Imagine a ship that combines hauler, fighter, and explorer parts with a rusty look to it.
Exactly
Ships that look man-made with bits of different ships, all rusted out, flickering lights, loose pieces
Something you look at and think "that wont pass jupiter station" 💀
Waterfalls when?
I'm getting my dad into NMS and he wants an altimeter and rearview mirror. 😂
We need more designs and variations of freighters as well as additional decorative elements for bases (freighter bases in particular)
Each type of freighter could have its own interior style base parts to unlock.
Try suggesting it

You can submit bug reports, suggestions or feedback to Hello Games here: https://hellogames.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
just unlock all base parts to use in freigther
It would be cool to hire npc to join your squardron but been able to give them one of your ships
We all love to collect and mod ships and i think it would rock to summon a squadron that uses the ships you hardly worked on, idk, it gives the possibility of having an interceptor squad / exotic ship.
Can't you just hire squadrons with cool ships
Also squadrons need a buff they are terrible
They dont spawn with interceptor/sentinel ships and usually when you find ball/squid ships, you buy em so..
Don't say that i was excited to try em 😭
😦
I want a new feature on NMS. I can't wait.
I want to be able to transfer my saves from PC to consoles and vice versa.
I have other ideas but for now, this is critical for me.
We just got an update? Also just wait two months something will happen
I just shared an idea.
What I'd like to see on NMS.
Would be a cool idea
Does anyone have a screenshot or link to where Sean tweeted something like "our list of features keeps getting bigger and weirder"?
I suggest you share your request with HG directly on their zendesk if it's critical to you. This is just a discussion place

I want more dance emotes, like a breakdance emote or something. Maybe even add a dance floor to the anomaly lmao. Just walk in there and see a random 3 foot tall Gek absolutely destroying it on the dance floor
Have you checked out what the anomaly has to offer for emotes?
yea its just the celebrate emote, unless im missing something
People talked about multi-swords before, however for melee combat to really work in NMS the weapons/MTs need to be big, maybe even twice the size of your character.
With the amount of requests for variety i think they are definitely a big priority rn
It'd be an amazing thing for an exploration-based games to have more uniqueness and differences between planets
HG let us plant plants that produce raw ingredients for the nutrient processor! I want a wheat farm! 😅😅😅
SUGGESTION:
Add the option to use text chat on NMS for CONSOLE users.
It would make communication in-game a loooot easier! Other games like Warframe, Destiny, and others are cross-plat and support text chat in-game just fine!
but warframe is owned by tencent and destiny by activision
HG is a small, independent team iirc
I dont think they have funding issues rn, but I think they still lack the money to do big stuff
Animations need to be updated they often feel less meaningful and lightweight not to say there isn’t anything good also would love a climb in ship animation (before asking about “calculating where the player would be” just do multiple preset angles and just pull the player to each point to line them up if it’s too much lol)
(in the meantime, subnautica never got the climb ladder animations)
Destiny is not owned by activision it is owned by bungie which is owned by Sony
my bad, activision is the editor
Publisher?
ye publisher
Lol
"editeur" in french
Uh blizzard aren’t so good either just sayin
Anyway
They recently added 5 new emotes where you hold up different holograms in your hand like NPCs do.
The comparison was that it couldn’t be that complicated, not the developers themselves not sure why you brought that up. Text chat plz, thank you.
the comparison here was just that such things cost money and time (which is money too)
I was just saying that maybe Hello Games doesnt have enough "backup" money to launch themselves in such enterprise
I read the chat, but you probably misread my answer, there is no need to be condescending there 🙂
It’s not a big money thing to do so, as it’s ALREADY done for PC.
Console users just have no access to it.
Albeit some console users with plug in keyboards are ALSO able to use the chat.
I did not know that console players could use keyboards anyway xD I get your point
I feel u abt hello games being a small company tho
Great game
Lmao nah ur good
It’s just wack you can’t use it w/o one

You could buy a little keyboard that attaches to the controller?
You know what would be a good QoL addition
Some sort of coordinate beacon
You could make it like the trade rocket. A rechargeable microship you launch toward coordinates you set.
Finding a place on-planet is always super awkward.
Why not just set down a save beacon?
Not to save. To find a location.
By coordinates.
Save Beacon just saves the place you are.
They also keep a waypoint for you to find.
Or is that not what you're looking for?
You know when someone posts coordinates in somewhere like NMSCE?
If you've ever tried finding a place on a planet, it's a lot of hovering over the planet, leaving the atmosphere because the travel is too slow to justify staying in it, then coming back in and hoping you didn't overshoot.
Holy crap, the way Starfield made their ship customization is more or less exactly what I would've wanted in NMS back in 2022.
One thing I'd like to see is some more out-there freighter classes. A few that would be neat:
An ISS style one that's a bunch of spindly sections and solar panels attached to one big middle part
A circular drum style that rotates (lore wise to create gravity inside), kinda like the Behemoth from the Expanse
Living freighters
Solarpunk-esque freighters, with lots of solar panels and biodomes that you can see little microcosms of climates and stuff inside
Just a big ol' sphere like the Anomaly
The biggest thing I'm wonder is if we had ship customization and interiors, how would that impact panding pads, space anomaly, freighter hangars and space stations? A lot more would have to be changed in the game than just the ships.
That's a very valid point - I'm guessing that there would have to be limitations to how big the customized ships would be, how many modules you would be able to connect etc. Of course the landing pads / interior they are installed in would have to be modified by "X" in size - not saying it'd be an easy thing; it would probably take a long time to make these changes but if they were made properly it would without a doubt add a whole different dimension of diversity. Even if the ships wouldn't change much in size - it would still make a big impact on how personalised ships would look depending on what modules and colors & decals you use on the ships in their current size.
Super sized base building bits would be cool. These bits could hold a starship that lands and take off from inside, or like a massive 64x64 or 128x128 farm bit. I farm alot of NipNip and it would be nice to have a super big room that I can use to harvest and sell a lot of buds. It would be also a great way to make the sentinels attack your base and maybe need to add protective weapon systems
Can we plz have 6 dof flight as a toggle option and hotas support🙏. I know it's "supposed to be arcadey" but like if it's toggle the people who want the arcade experience can have that and the people who play SC/ED can have a little more fun when flying.
What are the chances that the amount of suns in a system are actually one day represented on the star map? This, and the fact that the planets do not center around the sun and that the sun is just a light in a skybox instead of an object you can crash into, is still one of the most immersion breaking parts of the game for me. I realize that a much harder and more hazardous solar system navigation would carry some threat to player retention and the general ease of exploration, but the star map is like, a cosmetic thing, really.
That would introduce a problem where with multiple stars visible players would not know what is the stellar classification of a given system (yellow / red / green / blue)
If they need to get lets say Indium, how they will know the system they are looking at that has 3 stars visible is in fact a blue star system? How do you note that?
I think it's just adding clutter. Remember the extra stars in skybox are just visual additions and do not affect the properties of a system
Hotas makes sense, but 6 dof just doesn't fit the game.
I mean why not have an option to toggle it so it can make everyone happy ?
It's not like pvp is a huge thing in nms so it wouldn't give anyone a large advantage over others. I just don't get why people always say "it's not supposed to be like that" like why can't it be if you wanted it to be ? I mean they added power allocation which is already starting to step out of the "arcade feel" and is taken from games like Elite and Star citizen.
I love the exploration, creativity and adventure NMS offers but bro I try not to fall asleep when I take off in my ship. Us SC and ED players need a little more from this game when it comes to flight.
Its a small team I think, they have to make choices and set priorities.
I mean classifications by their nature are a describtion of "reality" not the other way around, and twin or tripple star systems are common in what we understand about the unvierse right now, so really this is not a hard problem to solve
I would be happy if the multiple stars just show up when zoomed in
But if the map draws me like, a diagram with orbits of moons and stuff but it kinda forgets two whole suns, it's kinda weird, you know
I would like the next nms update to be no new content just a sh!t load of bug fixes and qol changes
Like dozens
It already was
But like 10x that
They never release an update without a ton of bug fixing
I mean focusing purely on bugs for a couple months
that can be great indeed, but thats also something they need to take in account
a lot of players are asking for permanently new content
so they have to balance what they do
I want the suit to say things like “severe laser burns detected” when you take damage to your suit like half life
Imagine there was ship partsthat you could use like, wings, cockpits, thrusters and all of that and you could build your own ship using those parts. And it also changes the stats with different S/A/B/C tiered parts. And you would be able to find those tiered parts out in the world from quest rewards or buying them. Also would be cool if you could scrap ships you buy to get the individual ship parts for it.
i literally have been thinking about this it would so nice
I wanna be able to walk around and explore the interior of my starship, as long as its big enough to do so. Like Haulers, Shuttles. Explorers, Solars, Fighters obviously its just a cockpit. But I also would love animations getting into and out of the ship. And interactivity within the interior. Like less vital tasks like planet scanning, or doing repairs would be cool. Like you have to open a panel and rewire it, or tighten some bolts on the pulse drive.
Maybe its just me tho, Im a sucker for maximum immersion.
also the game NEEDS a customizable HUD. No hud removes everything, including mission markers when exploring a planet. Its entirely unplayable.
We used to have in/out animations before they added 3rd person view to the game. When they did that they changed to the teleport animation.
After seeing Starfield ships I do agree it would be cool to walk around your ship interiors. Instead of building interiors for frigates that time could have been better spent build ship interiors. I think most people would have gotten more use out of that
Might as well add 6 dof flight while we are at all this Hud customization lol
dof?
6 degrees of freedom flight
ohh yeah thatd be sick
Yeah would be nice to have as a toggled option for people who want to keep the current 4 dof flight model
but for ppl who come from elite dangerous and star citizen it makes the flight in nms a little more bearable. I will die on this horse lol
Ah I remember the old days, when you had to mod the game so you could even hit the ground at all. More control is always better!
You know what would be good. Reputation negative and positive perks. Over time with negative rep gained you would
Get less items in vendors at higher price
Locked teleport or gtt
And at the max negative rep locked teleports in all the region for specific race ,constat wanted lvl 5, vendores dont want to do bisness with you.
To move within system you need to use pirate teleport network and use passport to reset the negative rep
And vice versa. Good rep would give more items in shops . Better prices etc.
I really wish the viewmodel for the multitools was repositioned like this.
They're far too off to the right imo and are weirdly stretched out a bit.
This would be a cool idea- the ability to install landing pads on the outside of freighters like what the derelict have
I know NMS is focused on exploration, but I wish that there was more danger in exploration. Imagine going through space to find a lost colony world as a mission, and you had to take your friends along on a freighter, sending them out to defend against pirates and other celestial dangers? Maybe the colony got cut off from the rest of the galaxy because they don't have a portal network and their navigation data was damaged during the journey. 🤷♂️ I think that making missions less like fetch-quests and more like actual missions or micro-stories would be great. Instead of, go here, collect teleport coordinators, deliver to this trading outpost, it would be better if these sorts of missions had an actual reason to do them in-universe. As it is now it just feels like "Oh, this Gek Mission NPC wants me to go here, hold e, then go here and press E. But like, why? Is it because a nearby colony has damaged their teleport tech and needs to send someone to the trading outpost for replacement parts? Or maybe it's more serious and they're researching improved FTL drives and they're a research outpost somewhere, trying to replace hyperdrives and warping with instantaneous interstellar transportation?
I know it's a simulation, but that doesn't mean there isn't a great story and a living breathing universe in that simulation.
i really love the ocean so i think it would be awesome to have full water planets (no land whatsoever) with much deeper oceans ((and maybe a side story quest associated with it? kinda like dreams of the deep but not as fetch quest-y))
they could be accessed after installing a launch thrusters upgrade that allows you to take off and land in water
OH and better water effects, it's pretty much impossible to tell how deep down you are just by looking up (yes ik there is a depth meter but hey better water effects would be cool)
more content like derelict freigther then ?
Yeah thatd be sick, group content to tackle with your friends, designed with 4 people in mind
Would be cool if there was defense systems you could build on your outposts, maybe there would be pirates, sentinels or planetary creatures that attack your bases frequently so you have to build defenses like turrets to protect your base.
(If your base is in creative mode or relaxed mode then this wouldnt apply to your base)
Not really? More like the payday mission variability with the mission structure of a traditional mmorpg and procedurally generate these missions according to as many of these variables as possible, with the usual text-only dialogue. The fact there's very little voiced dialogue (maybe suit warnings count?) makes it more feasible to do something like this.
The derelict freighter is more of an encounter you can summon. Maybe some variation in layout of the derelict exists, but there isn't any variation in the mission itself. The objectives or in-universe motivations, flavour text and such don't have any variability worth mentioning. It's the same steps, with a different set of rooms and corridors. I wouldn't necessarily be opposed to that, but making missions like that? Not really what I'd like. I'm working on writing some mockup missions based on a template. I don't know how big community content creation is in NMS, or if it exists beyond base-building but it would be great to host a competition for player-submitted missions. That might free up dev time so it's a matter of choosing missions, not making them. Players can be quite creative, especially when there's tens of thousands of them. I don't know if it would fit the vision of Hello Games or be feasible to design, implement, test, organise and do quality control, etc, but I can dream! 😂
derelict freigthers do have very nice lore, which is always procedurally generated, so sometimes the story can get messy a bit but its fun
I m all for new missions I agree on this
iirc @vast wave was working on a custom quest lately, cant wait to see how it goes 😄
Youre asking for enough content to make a whole new game 😂
Honestly, even if derelict freighters were to chain into pirate attacks or something across multiple star systems or across a region, that would incentivise incidental exploration through making players want to travel. I think that part of the problem is that players can do lots of exploration, but they only do it to find a planet or star system somewhere, or a ship. They don't do it as much to explore the world itself, or the people that inhabit it. I think part of that is that the people, like vendors on space stations or random trading post NPC's or freighter and ship captains/pilots are quite NPC-like with zero personality besides the named characters. It's not even a case of having too many repetitive and similar personalities, but just having NONE. If not the way dialogue is worded I wouldn't be able to tell NPC's apart very well. NMS is not an RPG, from what I understand. But it does have a story. 🤷
Well, considering some of the updated they've added, this isn't entirely outside the realm of possibility. 😂 Though, I see your point.
Community can come up with pretty awesome things, but there are technical limitations in place
We're basically just repurposing stuff that HG already uses, by tweaking the values or swapping some info around, so that new actions are possible
But we are still limited to the same as devs are, with pretty much fixed dialogue options and results
As for custom quests, it's a helluva work to just understand the structure the missions use
Creative writing is a whole other can of worms
I agree with the point that missions seem to be very static, because that's how they can exist so far
Damn. That's a shame. What format are missions/dialogue stored in?
Most of the game files use an XML structure
Tables of pairings Parameter Name and Value
And since we dont have any documentation or the sorts, we basically figure most of stuff on our own
If it was simple, wouldn't we have tons of custom quest content mods by now?
Well, obviously, but what about it makes it not simple?
I wish for optimisation.... HG please dont just pump out content and ignore the weak spots
Sheer size and being an helluva spaghettified format
Interactions between mission objects, scan event objects, interaction overrides, reward and costs objects, etc
Ah, that sucks. :(
At the end of the day, I don't think any sort of randomizer system will be able to reach the immersion of hand crafted missions like the autophage stuff or atermis or the living ship/frigatte stuff. It'll just feel as static as derelict freighters probably, but with more steps.
The complexity you can reach by combining the things a player can do is just not there. It's like the opposite of dwarf fortress, where every aspect of the game world combines and new stuff emerges. Like, you won't find an army of enemies made out of corrupt sentinels and natural predators and one gek. You won't find coordinates to a lost explorer or a tablet with catastrophe reports on a sunken freighter wreck. You won't fight monstrosities on a derelict space station. A minor settlement doesn't suddenly have a math problem to solve on a console somewhere. These things don't have really good ways of just randomly combining with each other, and even if they did, they would need some sort of in-built narration to feel like memorable stories. Which means it would either be hand crafted and rare again or heavily limited in storytelling by the need to be able to endlessly combine.
Like, let's say you find a derelict, but instead of the usual space station items, maybe you get coordinates to a crashed ship, and maybe there a pliot is still alive and needs you to find the communicator thing and maybe once that is done you go to a minor settlement to report success. And then you get like a salvaged technology module or something. Even if that had a world class bittersweet story about how one dude escape the calamity but is now infected and only wishes to give his best friend's watch, that has been smuggled through space prison in creative ways, to his son... You do five of those and it becomes about as exciting as freighter battles, but longer. But if the story is procedural, it can't reliably be even as smoothly fitting as that. And the rewards are either not worth it or ultimately made too easy to obtain.
And that's a convenient combination of game quest elements. Most combinations would probably be something like, fight pirates, then collect 500 parafinum and then scan every plant on a moon. I can't even begin to imagine a story that would make that exciting or how it would even introduce a storytelling medium that tells you that story.
What I could see is something like Hello Games holding a scifi short story contest or something, and then maybe take some time to turn the top 10 popular entries into quests by using existing player freedoms, and populate the game with a bunch more hand crafted quests that way. That would be repeatable and you could tie them to existing NPCs on the anomaly or whatever to give them more personality and stuff to do.
Yeah, that's probably more realistic. I just wish that procedural generation of quests was a thing, it sounds like it would be amazing, in theory. But I guess there's a reason it's not a thing yet.
I mean it works in games where the experience is mostly mechanical. Like the challenge modes of Doom Eternal or something.
AFAIK they have been hiring scifi writers for some of the modern quest stuff and for example the traces of metal questline was fire!
I hope they get around to maybe doing something with the three races' histories and the atlas that fits more seamlessly into the modern state of the game, where the revelations feel impactful and it somehow makes you part of the discoveries or something. The early quest and story stuff really feels a bit like it's off a less refined era to me xD
That would be pretty cool! I think I really just want more story and more to do that's not a mindless mission for resources. I'll probably change my view in another 100 hours though.
A cool future thing could be an update that is dedicated to nothing but bugfixes. So many bugs have plagued this game for so long.
From visual to mechanical
I agree that at least half of the missions feel extremely chore-like. I think for example the gather resources missions would benefit from just finding the parafinum and calling a mining robot for the station instead of having to dig the stuff up and shipping it to a trade station. Or at least have a dedicated trade-rocket land next to it and some sentinels to fight while you mine or something. I dunno xD
I mean, you could set up a mining base for paraffinium and never worry about it again
sure but that doesn't help the immersion and fun of the quests tho
I mean I guess just being rich is more fun than mining, but you know what I mean xD
XD true
2 things refering to little buddies
let me pick up my little buddies
let there be a smallest animal wonder, theres smallest herbivore and carnivore but my smallest animal is neither
also i wish under the wonders section you could see the list, like under "Most intelligent being" you could see every animal you have scanned, in order of most intelligent to least intelligent, and have it like that for all the wonders
vertical freigthers when ?
foggy, misty, etc planets should be a little more foggy? Lol
i like disabling the "hold to scan" button, so that i can just point my visor at minerals and plants for a few moments without holding down a button.
however this makes creatures almost impossible to scan, as you have to stay on their little hitbox and some of them are fast.
when scanning with "hold to scan" enabled, you can keep scanning that same creature so long as they don't go too far away.
it would be nice to be able to disable the "hold to scan" for the minerals and plants, but keep it active for creatures - at the moment i keep having to switch between the settings which isn't ideal.
It would be nice to be able to pay a certain amount of credits to "retool" your settlement into making different resources. Sucks when you find a cool settlement but all it makes it literal dirt
could be cool to see long-term ship storage so you can store loads and loads of ships
If I could propose a change it would be to speed up living ship organ maturation time.
The time for each successive organ would half the remaining time
Brain: 24 hours Heart: 12 hours, then 6, 4, 2 until completion. Instead of 5 days, it’s much shorter
to continue on this, being able to see the different genders/versions that a species can come in on the discoveries tab would be magnificent, some of the variation is very extreme and i wanna discover all there is to the animals and document them
Wish they’d give a little tool tip as to what they mean. I know there’s posts online, but I want to see what the creators mean by the terms
also i wish you could access the species page from the animal registry
planets with more than one biome
also species generation is based on planet generation rather than random generation
only problem is regenerateing planets
ez, generated ones dont change, only new ones B)
(and ones that havent been touched in x amount of time/ dont have bases n stuff)
thinking biomes are based on planet type, for instance, a few for cold planets could be tagia, glacial, melt cave, molten, steam, and cold desert, a hot planet can have oasis, crystal planes, overgrowth
Living Freighters might be interesting. 🤷♂️
YES
Have HG done anything with regards to ship to ship combat yet? I feel like the ability to create your own crews, or customise your freighter's defenses would be interesting. Maybe scavenging blueprints from pirate dreadnoughts or something.
It also feels a little odd that there are only freighters in the game. We have frigates, but no battleships, destroyers, cruisers, battlecruisers, salvage ships, survey ships. It would definitely help to have ship specialisation with regards to freighters. As it is now, they're all the same, unless you're comparing capital to regular freighter, right?
I'd like to see food as something we can actually display.
It would make my lounge/bar actually look good, since it looks super naked without any food.
Either the stuff we make in the refiner, or even some select models from the QS shop would be rad.
Omelletes, noodles, cakes, drinks, sodas, etc etc.
Also i want helmet thats like brain in a jar
And when ur at it
Revamped combat
To be closer to like destiny
Not like destiny
It woukdnt fit at all
Just more polished
there's been several enhancements to ship combat this year. the latest patch introduced ship power systems, aside from the pirate dreadnoughts and shields for freighters. honestly we need other things focused on in the game
yeah, we need more exploration stuff, more story content and maybe some leveling system would be cool
maybe that the milestones you achieve provide some aditional perks
that way it is integrated into what is already in the game and doesn't create feature bloat
This is already in the game
You can buy it from QS shop
yeah we haven't really had a sizable exploration update since Origins back in 2020
i want enourmous creatures roaming planets sometimes. So big you see one walking in the distance and you think its a mountain at first. And oceans with waves. And floods. And planets that can be destroyed!
when i see a planet called terraforming catastrophe, want to land and see an abomination, like half alive animals and planet blood spewing from the ground like something horrific and beyond imagination happened
Thinking of what I just posted in #nms-base-building , that would be super cool actually, if in addition to frigate missions you would be able to get military squads for your freighter, and you could deploy them on missions. Each race would have different bonuses (Vykeen are badass warriors that just charge forward, Korvax use tech in battle and are good at hacking and stuff, Gek use stealth and maybe even diplomacy, etc etc). And then if you want to you could join them in missions, and it would have procedurally generated complexes that you assault on planets, or board freighters together. Would either have Sentinels as combatants or maybe there could be like actual Vykeen and Gek pirates and stuff like that
Gek use economic resources to fund their wars or something
in the lore they seemed to be really warlike and evil at some point right?
yeah they did, maybe it could be like some leftover First Spawn soldiers or something
or some neo first spawn radicals trying to follow the old ways or something
i want to be a hello games
we neeed an ongoing war among the stars for territory
when you are at war there is nothing to explore, everything is simply already there and all that matters is survival.
i mean NO is right, but just one little corner
one little star system
I dont think an all out war really makes sense for the lore or vibe of the game, but like isolated battles like my idea would be out there but still fit in
There is no reason for war
there usually isnt
Fight for what ? Infinite resources?
Lore also dont support reason for war atm
nms has lore?
A lot of lore
i thought its just "oh yeah theres this atlas guy and space capitalists"
yeah
and why is the universe of nms so barren
but im a radical and im in space and im going to do whatever i want in space
i mean, everyone has space ships and what not, but there is no civilisation
because life is barren
Read lore
so make some friends and make a city
where?
at the lore store of course
Monoliths, archives, catalouge, sentinel pillars,
thats hard
no just google it
There are yt vids
Sadge
i believe in you
i only know destiny lore
i have my own ideas about what the lore is, and no one can tell me any different because i live in my owncorner of the pretend universe
desinty is just a game though
this is for real pretend
i do not understand what you mean
reality is a simulation, so simulations are real
so we can enjoy our game like its real, for fun
There wont be a war in no mans sky because the player base is afraid to have that kind of fun.
until I start my pirate empire and attack hub-space
ill help
There are pvp nms communities
is it possible to make other factions other than goodie two-shoes ?
like some sort of pirate system
i dont want a community, I want chaos!
or space nazis (just a joke lol)
you mean the gek
Then you want a difrent game
im playing the game i enjoy in the way i enjoy it
even if part of it is in my imagination
don't be a gate keeper in a game that is a big universe
well it is the space-minecraft so we can play however we want, given the games limitations
I am a pirate and i will pirate your civil war-averse star system
because i am a pirate and a warrior and war is all i know
what are you gonna do, tell me im having fun wrong?
You can play however you want but nms will not turn into space war game. Main focus will always be exploration
not with that attitude xD
TO WAR!
My attitude has nothing to do with devs game vision
Rally the bannermen!
LOAD THE MACHINES OF WAR INTO THE FREIGHTERS
the vykeen shall ride one last time
we will destroy hubspace
allow the trade rocket to either not allow the selling of nanites or allow it to sell items for nanites 🗣️
stop eating my modules
where is your god now
In a dark future THERE IS ONLY WAR
but seriously theres enough galaxies and star systems that we can have our war mans sky and they can have their explore mans sky
but it would be funner if we must fight
given enough time war will come to the stars
humanity only has one planet on one star, and we havent had a single war
im sleepy. but here is carl sagan https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wupToqz1e2g
Kermit the frog makes some good points about not being at war, but here to make a counter argument is Metallica: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qdlQyNe_9tE

In a dark future in a war torn sky, the stars of all the galaxies are red with blood and fury
the world is cruel and there is no hope, our only respite is to revel in madness and a cosmic terror of being
revel in death and the endless dark space of our universe
could be cool to have a game system (lategame buildable item maybe?) that allows you to protect 1 system from player editing and discovery, besides yourself and selected friends. You could only ever protect one system at a time to prevent abuse, and you must have a base in it.
In a future update would they perhaps add multiple biomes to planets? Or maybe even have them spin around an actual sun? Would be cool to have an option at least to have it more realistic (option so that people who don't like it to turn it off in the settings)
Not related to topic of the channel, please move to #other-games
checkmate, physicalists!
its a sandbox game you can make whatever
this would be great
This would require the sun to be an actual game object in the first place...Right now the "sun" is just a jpg
I think the heavy investment in improving space and ground combat is a pretty good counter to your statement. I mean "combat" was always one of the main tentpoles of the game and was featured heavily in the marketing. It's just that in the old days the combat was so simplistic that realistically speaking exploration was the main focus
it probably won't need an engine overhaul to make it work and would 100% be worth the effort for a "CORE Feature" for a new 5.0 / 6.0 type update. Being able to fly next to a huge sun, maybe double/tripple sun systems and also having planets orbit it would be awesome!
I mean they could copy from Elite Dangerous
That would be quite awesome, if they did bring in Suns like that, and also had the gravitational pull of it factor in more
Would love to see a biodome freighter like this, that in the middle is one big biodome with a climate you can choose
This would require a significant amount of coding and quite a beefy setup to run, not very friendly for people with low spec pcs tbh
I was thinking it could just be decorative, in that you still have the same freighter building coming off of the bridge, but you can see the biodome from outside and the bridge and stuff like that, just not actually enter it
maybe occasionally dumps organic resources (relevant to the biome of choice) into an inventory
Whats the point of limiting the amount of pets you can have to 3 pages? i imagine having like 50 pets wouldnt be too much of a strain on the system, and theres already having to spend 20k nanites at a certain point just to get one more
Egg container would be nice
when are we gonna be able to transform the colossus into a massive sentinel walker
After oceans update
Eh, colossus is better as a mobile base IMO.
Colosus as space station
Having 2 mutually opposing factions should add more depth to the game. Standing in one direction means less standing with another. Maybe the races could have this split? I do feel this universe needs more conflict.
The autophages are cool, but they don't seem to care about the Atlas worshipping Korvax.
Maybe in an update or two, the Gek First Spawn return, but my guess they will only look at their brethren with pity.
Hey guys, wouldn't it be great if this was actually in the game?
There are variants of crashed freighters
I found the one from pic. And the one in water are the ones with centrifuge
No crashed capital freighters tho
i found one i think it said capital
could be wrong but it looked like my first capital i got
i have since went like hundreds of lightyears away
Ok
but it was the one that had a similer body to that pic but it had a corculer glowing under under the front
englosh
we should be able to customise the looks of pilots and names of ships and pilots that are apart of our squadron
New player here, I was really surprised at how good the game gets when I fight the pirate dreadnought for the first time. I wish there are "hard" thing in ground combat just like it too some day. Fighting sentinels just get boring after a while, the other kind of enemy like the horrors are kinda pointless to fight too. Would really love to see better gameplay with the weapons too for sure.
imo the corrupted sentinels are a little harder than regular ones. but yeah, while there have been a ton of combat focused updates, the general consensus is that NMS remains a game that isn't really focused on combat.
I wouldn't say it's not a focus as they've spent a lot of dev effort on it. It's more that meeting the expectations of people who want it to be Destiny or COD or something is not something they can do with the team they have. I think the time they've spent trying to improve it probably would have been better focusing on exploration updates, as they will never be able to meet combat expectations
I feel like finding player freighter bases in the wild like you can with normal based would be cool. I have no idea how it would be implemented though.
Would be awesome if there was an industrial system in the game, could go with an Outpost overhaul update, a way to kind of automate your farms and moving your goods from storages and bases to other bases and even to your freighter maybe. Having to teleport between my farms gets a bit tedious
we should be able to build some things on it (and have an interior for it).
I want mine to look like this:
Yeah I agree, I always thought it would be neat if the Colossus could be made into an actual mobile base with an interior that you can walk into. And then there could be like miniaturized versions of tech in there that you could place
Yeah that's a better way to put it.
What bothers me about combat the most is how awkward you and the enemies move, it's weirdly too slow.
And the weapon viewmodels in first person leave a lot to be desired. And the thing where your multitool instantly gets holstered if you jump or slide is especially annoying.
I've been hoping for planetary frigates to get attacked ever since Outlaws. Maybe one day. 👀
I wouldn't mind text to speech added for dialogue chat (not to be confused with communication chat)
For accessibility purposes and to improve the experience of the game
I wish HG will improve planetary navigation:
- Add 3D map of planet you walk
- Ability to toggle visibility of each marker
3d map could prove difficult and kinda unnecessary?
Remember, the planeys you land on are all procedurally generated on the go
They don't have fixed models / sceneries that could be loaded in advance and visualised on some kind of map interface
Also I dont think we need them
Scanners have a decent range, nearby structures / points of interest show up in advance as unknown buildings / waypoints
This is not the issue. Since last update you actually can use 3d models of any visited planet as hologram.
I think it can be useful to navigate on planet with multiple bases, trade posts and etc.
I wish for just one thing the ability to transfer units into quicksilver but at a reduced rate eg: 4,000=400 etc.
We need multi-crew ships and ship interiors!
What we need is a hg staff to be in this server and look in this channel
Maybe they are looking. We dont know for sure
Doubt
What if AI chat bots for npc's and maybe voice potentially
Geks use smell for communication. So idk how that would work
Imo. Its good for streamers playing nms. They can narrate the story.
There are actually ~5 of them in this Discord server.
5? My bet is 16 😆
There is a "deepest ocean" wonder but why not a "most percentage covered by water" or some other wording
rendering the space view of a planet is a lot easier than building a topographical map of its surface
~kzzzt~
Cool
You think what's said here actually influenced the game somehow
The best way to giving them feedback is posting a request on their zendesk. There's no official presence by HG on this server
!hg
You can submit bug reports, suggestions or feedback to Hello Games here: https://hellogames.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
I think it would be cool if black holes were a little more impactful to go through rather than just being a glorified teleporter. Would be cool if as you got closer you started getting sucked into the gravitational pull of it, into an orbit. And then you pass the event horizon and exit and your ship gets sent into an uncontrollable spin and you have to do like a series of QTEs or something to repair sytems and regain flight control
Instead of clicking on buttons in our inventory to repair our ship, I wish we could get out of the ship in space and repair it Outer Wilds style.
Or just being able to get out of our ship would also be neat. Flying in space with out jetpack etc.
Man I really hope they update the building mechanics again, cause sometimes it can be a real hassle to deal with (for example, half ramps not snapping where you want them to, and some base parts being deleted by terrain generation)
I also think it would be really nice if after they wrap up the whole 4 part ARG narrative, they focus more on QOL updates and go back to make old features better rather than just adding new ones on top of them
I know it seems really cliche to be talking about these things because everyone else also wants them, but man would they be nice to have
2022 has been all about overhauling old features (sentinels, pirates, space, freighter, inventory etc)
And I'd say this year has been a mix of new content and overhauled old features like with corrupted sentinels.
But yeah, more updates like these are much more appreciated than whatever they were doing years ago..
📌This would make building so much better📌
Rotation/Position Values;
If we could have a value display that, at the very least, tells us the rotation of an object in 360 degree's, In relation to it's original position, so we can line things up much more accurately, it would make free placement so much more pleasant to work with. You could also potentially add a edit value hotkey that allows us to manually edit the angle, Speeding up the process. A simple UI that has;
- | Set Axis To Zero: <hotkey>
- | X Rotation: 45.5
- | Y Rotation: 90.0
- | Z Rotation: 0.0
- | Edit Current Axis: <hotkey>
The Set Zero button would be there to reset the angle values of whatever Axis you're editing, so you can work from a datum point. for example; I rotate the X Axis 45 Degrees, then I Set Zero (X Value shows as Zero but the object is still rotated), so that I can rotate it another 90 degrees without having to do the math.
The remaining XYZ values simply show rotation.
Edit Current Axis key simple allows us to put in a numerical value to rotate the object and make the angle much faster and more "Mass producible".
I feel as if these changes would garner much more creativity as working with angles in this way would eliminate a lot of uncertainty. Other potential changes would be toggled grids and measuring devices.
IF we all suggest this change to Hello Games, we can see something like this in a future update. We know how awesome the devs are so let's suggest this en masse if we must 🖤
With the addition of multitool staffs my wish to see some melee combat upgrades surfaces again
Maybe a weapon that charges a slash or a forward pierce
Or a straight up multiblade that has unique melee variants of MT weapons
Or let me use the staff like a spear
Or give it a scythe blade to be edgy
Hell, give me an omniglove and let me PUNCH The Atlas
It would be cool. HG previously was inspired by Destiny, so they can look after swords and glaives.
[Player Name] The Atlas Puncher
Defeat 100 Sentinels in glorious melee combat
The only way to make MT melee make sense is to have MTs extend or go for a plasma sword setup(lightsabers anyone?). You need a big melee range or you run into issues.
I agree
It's been mentioned before for a bladed mutitool the multi-sword which I hope would working a unique way
We need more sense of danger 😄
Absolutely
we need some bosses, some enemy outposts, some creatures that pose a real threat, could be anything
How about space leviathan encounters but like enemies not fleet ships
Sentinels need to be even stronger, in space and on the planet. On the planet I take down all the waves in <5 min, in space I just have to deal with a freighter. Maybe even make some systems more dangerous than others.
How about sentinel frigates and the sentinel version of a pirate dreadnought?
No, i hate sentinels on ground, they are too hard
Do you have lategame gear?
It may be just me being bad but i hate the new pirate dreadnought fight
By the time i'm halfway done with the ship, the civilian ship is basically toast and i get nothing out of it
Gimme some more time at the very least
They just need to increase the cooldown between torp waves.
It just lengthened the fight for me.
You can shoot down the pirate frigates which launch the torps.
Seriously
I only have time to either damage the ship or keep hunting torpedoes
And they already launch the next wave when i haven't even got the last one
True but they're damage sponges
I have fully upgraded weapons and it still takes forever
Do you have a squadron?
Yeah
Oof
S class too but they either have pea shooters or are braindead
Also i hate that you get forced into it when you warp in
Even when you escape, your ship radar won't show any dots except the battle
Don't forget that you can divert power to weapons/engines/shields now.
I reckon a lot of people missed this feature.
I've managed to get a hold of it with a simple run.
Go under engines and destroy those.
Go up top and destroy the anti frigate cannons.
Trench run shield generators and fuel rods, one after the other.
There's usually enough time for it but its definetely hit and miss.
I mentioned this elsewhere but the infra-knife melts through the engines, cannons, and shield generators
i'm new to the discord here, but have been playing NMS for a long time. recently came back with the new expedition (and being disappointed by Starfield, lol).
Has there been any talk of improving the trading/tradegoods sub-game? That is by FAR my favorite part of NMS. Would love more quality-of-life improvements there.
- fix bug that adds systems you view on the map to your visited list
- S-tier scanner improvements that allow FILTERING of the map (show only systems with 70+ buy % etc)
- make haulers useful again (love the larger stack sizes of trade goods, but now i don't need a hauler at all)
- built in trade route building (make it so I don't need to make my own spreadsheets to optimize trade routes)
My second favorite part is exploring to find extreme fauna (biggest, smallest etc), so I LOVE the improvements that auto-track that stuff. I used to track all that by hand in spreadsheets. lol.
How do you do that?
i wish they can make squadron into something more than a flying obstacle.
Check your controls, it's just a button push.
If you throw food under water it acts like its air and doesnt slow down or float or anythin. not super important but yknow
To make it so the merchant freighter takes less dmg, destroy all but one of the turrets, then go and destroy the engines, and then go back and destroy the last turret, and do the trench run then, and ofc destroy torps when they show up.
Title for completing The ATLAS Path 100 times.
There are so many existing systems that I'd love to see overhauls of, rather than new systems added. Trading and building would be next on my list to be updated, but who knows what 4.5 will be like.
I'd like ships with cloaking, and for that to be impactful on gameplay. Maybe also landing on asteroids, hehe. Maybe charting uncharted star systems and governing them? 👀
Honestly, secondary abilities for ships should have been introduced a long time ago.
Some random player on anomaly asked how to get the staff and i could not reply to him because i was playing on console. Consoles need txt chat box
Console players can see player chat?
Yes
Most of the time has censored stuff, but we can read chat, yes
We can read but cant send any message
Idk why we cant chat, theres tons of other games with chat system 😭
Yeah 🥲
Warframe is a good example of a crossplay chat
I really would like to see interstellar combat. That would really make the size of the game world more impactful and noticeable. Having to track an active threat across star systems and pit your freighter against their capital ship would be really fun. Incentivising it with some exclusive tech specific to that encounter type or maybe giving black-market star charts to point you towards specific star systems you might have been hunting for, with specific properties, would be cool too, though that sounds complicated. Cloaking would also be cool.
You chan choose to have an only console chat or a crossplay/crossplatform one
I just find it jarring how I can hardly communicate with console players.
Secondaries on ships could open up spaces for many new abilities that wouldn't work as a primary weapon. Cloaking is one of them yes.
I find the rocket launcher rather awkward as a primary too.
Is it possible on a living ship?
Should be, why don't you try it?
Just wondering if you knew, i'm at work at the moment, but thanks for the info i'll try tonight!
Rocket l is not a primary weapon 😭
Honestly I feel like rep system needs a refresh more then anything, pretty simple fix too, make it so for every +rank you get like a small amount of a boost to selling and buying in that races system, this would work with outlaw black markets and the outlaw faction too.(not too much to the point where you could just buy and resell at the same station) You could also maybe not buy frigates or freighters from a species you have - rank with, and you wouldn't be able to hire a squad member of a race you have - rank with (maybe you would even need a certain positive rank for that like 3) Also wandering traders wouldn't show up in systems where your rank is negative, just a few ideas.
I would also love a quest with every race, and the autophage and the outlaws once you reach rank 8, but that might be asking for too much
And as for the guilds those need a much bigger revamp tbh turning them into like an actual joinable guild or something.
I agree so I thought of the concept that when you reach rank 9 with the vykeen you then get to visit a vykeen blacksmith and gain a unique multitool the multi blade
Interceptors should have cloaking
If there’s ever an exploration update, I would love to see a Badlands planet.
Imagine Bryce Canyon National Park but it’s the size of a planet. I want to see canyons, real, deep canyons. Maybe there can even be a new building material here, clay
Oh definitely, yes. Every ship type should be the best at something, I think. As it is, they're all sort of the same at the highest levels.
I’d like to see them add a new ship type that has interiors. I don’t mind if you can only walk in it when it’s stationary on a planet. As long as it has interiors.
Also they need to add cross play and multiplayer to switch. It’s not fair the switch community don’t have all the modes as other platforms
So, medium ships?
Yea, that would be cool
I’ve only recently started playing the game, but I’ve been watching the game for a while
Landing a medium ship sounds unwieldy, so either separate landing craft, or players beam up and down.
Maybe it could be something between a medium to hauler size ship?
NMS with Outer Wilds ship physics, interiors and repair system would be pretty nifty.
This feature is what would make this game from great to perfection for me
that and if they had some systems for PVP, alliance and guilds, etc I mean it’s such a massive universe in no man’s sky it wouldn’t even effect the players that didn’t want PvP lol
Nah, NMS doesn't need more PvP or guilds.
NMS already has a pvp option.
In fact it's enabled by default and no one likes it lol
I find connections with players in this game rather fleeting. The universe is too big for there to be significant permanence.
It would provide more end game content, more intrigue, imagine a system where only the bold dare to go
You can be a few thousand light years from Euclid core and not meet anyone.
I like the vastness off space
I’m not really a PvP player personally, but I don’t mind the idea of it, and I know others like it. I wouldn’t want this game to turn into a monster like some PvP games lol
the community currently is amazing
PvP is rather poisonous for the rather wholesome community NMS has.
Plus, PvP would require a whole set of measures that would piss off other groups of players.
The option is there though, I left mine on. I mean you don’t lose anything if you die, so I don’t see the harm
The harm is to the community itself.
It would no longer be the wholesome place it is now.
Look, lots of multiplayer space games have PvP support.
NMS is fine as it is without PvP support.
Good. If I want to see someone, I’ll find them. Just leave me to my desert world in peace
I’m not a PvP person my self but it depends on how something is implemented too. Anyway what I would really love is if they did add ship interiors, that would make the game perfect for me.
Lemme be a lil space hermit. I don’t mind
I also wish they would add multiplayer to switch
For me it's a city planet would be amazing
That would be cool to, but players should be allowed to make those
